If he was alive and well today, he'd look awesome in the new suit, and it would have been wonderful if he was starred as Jor El in Man Of Steel. Either way, Christopher and Henry are the best Supermen for their generation and it's such a phenomenon to see how a fictional character inspires so much in reality. Rest in peace, Christopher.

I love to see the history of the character through generations, how Sup has evolved, the various treatment of the IP, and the tide of fandom.
Superman is a hero for all humankind, the greatest hero we have and ever will have. Superman embodies the greatest qualities that we as a people could ever hope for. He's an inspiration for everyone, he represents goodness and virtue to do the right thing, and those are qualities which humanity needs more than ever throughout our own history.
Yet, Superman is also a mirror for our own lives, being an alien, an immigrant, he always seeks a normalized human life, and through his own personal struggles with humanity and wanting to be human, it makes him sympathetic and relatable to everyone.
This documentary captures and shows all of this. (and much more)

He has integrity, he's honest, loyal, faithful, he has good values and principles, he's a real gentleman, he truly has a good heart, he has a lot of inner strength and, if there's bumps on the road, he picks himself up, dust himself off, and keeps on going...

A SUPER documentary worthy of the first and greatest superhero of them all!
I remember this documentary back when it first came out in 2006. I was enthralled as a youngster to learn about Superman's origins in the real world for the first time through this, and it still gives that same thrill, more that 15 years later.
In retrospect, the only thing about this documentary I would be critical of is how little coverage the Death and Return of Superman story arc and the DCAU are given. It's clear that Bryan Singer (who also made this doc, in addition to Superman Returns), cares more about the live action Superman material, and does not give much thought to the comics or animation (aside from the first appearance and the 40's cartoon). Granted, more in-depth docs about the Death and Return of Superman story arc and the DCAU exist both on this channel and their respective DVDs, but it would have been nice if some more attention were given to those significant milestones in this documentary itself.
Like many of my fellow commenters, I too want to see an update of this documentary to include material like the other 7 seasons of Smallville, Man of Steel/DCEU, New 52, Rebirth, Jon Kent, etc. Plus, how Superman impacted the creation of all the other Superheroes that came after him.
Thanks for uploading this Warner Bros. Entertainment. Keep Flying!

      he was inspirated

You made something special there. It happened organically, which is important for the best tales. No matter what the story changes to be the ideal that Super Man started can not be stopped. The idea that life is important and even the Joker is important cuz even the Devil might one day have a son that may save the universe.

Comic superhero lore doesn't really play well if you attempt to cross it over to biblical scripture.

Boy does this take me back to my childhood days….🤣. Loved the Superman series on TV and George Reeves, plus had lots of comics of Superman (including one of the first issues), Jimmy Olsen, and Lois Lane (as well with the first issues), including other comics with the Superman legendary characters….Comet, Krypto, including Supergirl, etc., read them all many times over and over again. Sure miss reading them. I love the superheroes, still do….I’m 74….I also love Christopher Reeve as Superman, he really made the movie special and believable, Chris and George are my favorite Superman heroes…..HIGH 5….RIP to all those actors/actresses, writers and those behind the scenes who made Superman films possible, including those of the comic book heroes, may your memories inspire others….👍👍👍👍👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

This is definitely worthy of a follow-up, but with all that's happened with Superman just in the 15 years or so since Superman Returns was released, it could easily go over three hours:
    - The final five seasons of Smallville
    - The 2008 Writers' Strike and how it impacted the development of a sequel with Singer, Routh, and company
    - New 52
    - A New Direction/Man of Steel
    - Supergirl TV series (Season 1 on CBS)
    - Rebirth
    - Batman v Superman
    - The CW Has a New Hero and She's Bringing Superman With Her (Supergirl moves to The CW for its second season alongside Arrow and The Flash, and introduces Tyler Hoechlin as that universe's Superman)
    - Justice League: Two Directors, Two Different Visions
    - Various animated features with a changing of the (vocal) guard (from Tim Daly and George Newbern to Jerry O'Connell)
    - Superman & Lois (upcoming CW series)

Christopher Reeve created a great duality with the role. The way Dean Cain made his feelings about Lois Lane believable brought a human quality to the character.
