I think there is value in this kind of video. In so far as it's a reminder of how bad things are, and what's at stake. But I think we need more than just reminders. I think we need leaders. There are a lot of us... myself included, who want to do something, but are scared to do anything. As individuals we feel weak and vulnerable. This seems to be the one thing that Alt-right does well. They form leaders, and organize around them. That's part of what I think makes those movements appealing to some, not so much the vile sentiment, but the feelings of camaraderie, that make them feel like they belong to something important. The left seems really bad at doing this. Maybe it's because, as anarchists (I know not all of us are anarchists) we shun hierarchies and systems of power... But that doesn't mean we can't have leaders. If a hundred people were trapped in a burning building, and one person knows proper evacuation procedures, then that person should become the leader! Leaders can be temporary, and they can exist without the formation of a self perpetuating hierarchy. I just feel like those of us who want to help, and do something to drive back the tide of darkness, need to come together as a group, rather than acting as individuals. And a group needs organization. And organization needs unifying force. Which probably needs leaders.
I would say right wingers get their leadership from participating in more mainstream things and being social in general. Peterson gets his authority from his academic position, Rogan and so on get a load of right wing MMA fans and so on. That means if leftists also participate prominently in everything from sports to science, it'll make us more cohesive. Honestly. I'm lonely in MMA lol we need more leftists and stuff. Also it was slightly similar in maths lectures.
So essentially if you're a leftist it's important to stay in touch with society. Whether through work, clubs and activities, groups for unemployed or disabled people etc.
Being a closeted trans guy, Anarchist Communist, and a bisexual in a family of conservative sheep makes me VERY spiteful. I'm ready to act when I'm not working my job and going to welding school...
So, I'm from Chile and it's day 3 of Emergency State, the military are deployed on the streets and there's curfew from 6.00 to 20.00. This all started cause highschool students dared protest a raise in transport fees and it escalated to the Capital being set on fire (both by protestors and cops). The boiling pot that was mediocre healthcare, subhuman pensions, millionaire tax evasions from politicians and a wage-enslaved population due to uncontrolled inflation finally burst out dramatically and now we are losing our freeedoms in such a way that people fear we're slipping back into dictatoship. With that context this video is so soothing to my soul right now. We're at a critical point and yet hope feels so far away and the enemy is so big and scary... people are already starting to go missing.... but we'll fix the world because we have no choice, because the other option is so much worse and people already said No More. There is hope, because we built that hope. Let's Revolt!
"Workers of my country, I have faith in Chile and its destiny. Other men will overcome this dark and bitter moment when treason seeks to prevail." - The last words of Salvador Allende.
17:10 hey dunno if you'll see this but literally this is what Jane Goodall said at her talk in Auckland a few months back. In the Q&A she was asked how she remains so positive and hopeful (she didn't answer the question directly which makes me think she isn't) and she responded, 'Spite. We can't let the Bolsonaros and Trumps of the world win.'
I've been working my way through your videos mostly at random. But, this is exactly what I needed right now in this precise moment. So, thank you for making this almost a year ago so I could discover it today looking for something to listen to while waiting for the bus. < 3
while I'm not an anarchist(MLM rather) this was a great video that highlights the contradictions in hopelessness, hopelessness is counterrevolutionary, and while our future may seem bleak, we must never give up on the masses.
I feel like this should end with a Starship Troopers reference - a solid "Would you like to know more?" - But either way, a solid video, love that you, non-compete, Contra, Peter Coffin, Angiespeaks, etc have been really upping the motivation :D
Given all that's happened on the last few years, I've been feeling more and more hopeless. All the crisis and the degredation of democracy and progress... When I read the news that my country might be banning abortion yesterday, I was despondent. This video made me feel a lot better. Thanks for that.

That was... inspiring. Thank you! I have struggled personally with gaining more freedom and the thought of what I do once I have more freedom is scary, but now it the fear is diminished. I feel empowered, at least a little. I have also went on to go out and do some activist stuff (before I watched this vid), including going to big demos against the regressive right-wing parties in power here in my country. I might do more, maybe I join the socialist/communist unions in my city. It's good to network a little, find out more about what's happening here and in the world and meeting new people is a neat bonus too of course. Subscribed and liked and all that jazz. Can't pay you for it but I hope my sub and likes will give you a little boost on YT. You deserve that and more.
im glad that u said that whole thing about spite in there. hope is kind of impossible for me right now, but i can be full of spite any day. great video :]
One of my teachers once told my dad that she'd like to see someone try to sell me or my sister drugs. All through school, I got the "Is a good self-advocate" comment on my work. And boy, that shit GOT TO ME. It's so insidious how something that is phrased as a compliment is easily perceived by a child as a judgement of not being easy enough to control. But I'm still a great self-advocate (and advocate for others, but they couldn't think of a pseudo-nice way to say that lol) and a pain in the asses of the powerful, and I intend to stay that way.
I'm so glad that in the vast world of RUclips I found thoughtslime. This video was pure gold. I feel hope! I feel empowered to action! Wonderful humor, editing, and set design!!!
I unfortunately can't do much, comrade. I have social anxiety, and I like having a comfortable routine. It's mostly due to me being autistic, and being too scared to do many things on my own, without someone holding my hand. But... I'd certainly like a society that reaches their hand out to hold mine when I ask for help. So far, there doesn't seem to be anyone willing to do that. Although... I do have a few wonderful friends who could do that. But all of them are Internet friends, which ARE real friends. A few of them are leftists too. I don't know if any live nearby, but if they are willing I'd ask them to help me. To take me to a protest, perhaps. I need to have my hand held and to be taken to places. That's just how I am, and I have a problem with society treating people like me with contempt. There are emotional and mental barriers which are making me this way, and I'd like that to be validated instead of treated as an excuse. I do chores around the house, I'm a freelance artist who makes money from great fans demanding my services. I'm not "useless". In this case, people are going to have to help me be a better comrade in this fight, because quite frankly I'm not going to do anything on my own. All I do is vote... and I don't know if that's enough.
It’s gonna take a lot of people saying fuck this and taking to the streets in the millions... not worrying about losing our jobs or apartments or utilities... also standing rock unfortunately is losing or has essentially lost the fight. They wound up putting the piping in and then having to shut it down because it didn’t work from what I understand.
I'm so, so glad you made this video (and that other Leftist and Green RUclipsrs are doing the same). This is something that has been absolutely preying on my mind, and it's great to see someone summarize this in a way that is hopeful but also brutal -- because right now, reality is brutal. And while I know that I and other folks can't afford to lose hope entirely, we also can't afford to obscure the truth. You did an excellent job, as per usual, and green-light looks good on you! : D
I was thunkin, couldn't we go 100 percent renewable energy if everyone who was unemployed were just given jobs to do just that? There are 15 million unemployed persons in the US, and 1.7 million unemployed persons in Canada. If the gov just paid all these people a living wage to plant trees, construct solar, wind, and nuclear power plants, and rebuild infrastructure to accomidate low emissions public transportation, then we could get off carbon emissions pretty quick! But that is a big if.
I honestly naively thought Europe would ride off the worst. That while we would absorb some of the unfortunate American trends, we could keep out the most terrible of them. Well, nationalism is on the rise, and my own country is getting increasingly obsessed with pointless appraisement of the local populist right-wing party. But, hey. At least Trump have caused people to increasingly questioning whether the damn Yankees deserve to control as much as they do, when they are capable of electing insane emperors as leaders, so at least that is a form of progress...
yea, my country is not yet that deep in capitalist shit cause we're former socialists, but it's getting real bad real fast. selling our companies and properties to rich foreign dudes to make quick profit and so on... but as you said, at least after Trump got elected many people started realising USA ain't shit and we should all probably question how much power they hold. When I started thinking about what could a dumbass do with all the military bases and nuclear weapons and economic monopolies USA has around the world, that was the day I realised they shouldn't have all that in the first place.

I’m from India and we (most people) don’t get clean drinking water in our taps. You have to have a water filter attached and that’s the only place where you can get drinking water. I’m extremely privileged in the way that my family has that water filter and we’ve never had to experience and real long term water shortage. There were days when we had to ration our use of water, store it buckets etc. but nothing drastic. So when I went to England for school and I learnt that people just bought water bottles when they could literally even drink the water in their toilet sink, I was so shocked! Why would you waste money on buying water when you literally have it for free (well almost, right since you pay for water at home?) I literally couldn’t comprehend it. I know people who just buy packs and packs of bottled water to drink from AT HOME?! Coming from my poor corner of the world, the excess and consumption I saw in England was shocking and a little bit disgusting. Just a little angry story lol. I could cry if think about this for too long so just had to get this off my chest
The best revolution is education, free unbiased education on all topics by all people to all people. It's what we've been trying to do historically in the past few millenia and our 'leaders' mostly get in the way due to their ego/pride. That can get taken care of with education, too. Thanks for doing your part in spreading things around. May all of us one day be literate in communication.
Because of this video, I just sent my name to the Earth-Strike Discord. You're right. The time for mere talk is over. Thank you so much, Comrade Slime.
I think for me the chief motivator is fear. I've always leaned left on the mainstream issues but it's having a child and fearing for the world we'll leave for her that has knocked me far left and focussed me on issues that the mainstream would like us not to see as issues, like whether or not our entire system is rigged.
Here a year and a half late, but I guess we all start somewhere. Here's to hope and spite, to fixing the world, or at least to making the powerful uncomfortable with the atrocities they've inflicted on humanity and the earth. I needed this, thank you.

Kek How do you need leader
Nigga like u r anarchist and shit
Being a closeted trans guy, Anarchist Communist, and a bisexual in a family of conservative sheep makes me VERY spiteful. I'm ready to act when I'm not working my job and going to welding school...
youre a true member of breadtube with the mood lighting
Salute, comrade!
"Workers of my country, I have faith in Chile and its destiny. Other men will overcome this dark and bitter moment when treason seeks to prevail."
- The last words of Salvador Allende.
spite, now you're speaking my language
17:10 hey dunno if you'll see this but literally this is what Jane Goodall said at her talk in Auckland a few months back. In the Q&A she was asked how she remains so positive and hopeful (she didn't answer the question directly which makes me think she isn't) and she responded, 'Spite. We can't let the Bolsonaros and Trumps of the world win.'
even as somebody who isn't an anarchist, i always love your content- also
holy shit dude you drank all that???
(it's actually iced tea in a whiskey bottle)
At least you didn't do the Aurini approach and just touch it to your lips every once in a while.
I've been working my way through your videos mostly at random. But, this is exactly what I needed right now in this precise moment. So, thank you for making this almost a year ago so I could discover it today looking for something to listen to while waiting for the bus.
< 3
I just want to give you a friendly hug commrade
while I'm not an anarchist(MLM rather) this was a great video that highlights the contradictions in hopelessness, hopelessness is counterrevolutionary, and while our future may seem bleak, we must never give up on the masses.
You're a multi-level marketer?
Tankies who aren't complete pedantic dickweeds unite! (Also a Marxist-Leninist-Maoist)
Are you going to try and sell me essential oils now?
"We have nothing to lose but our chains."
Thanks, dude! Let's go out fighting.
I got fired because I caught my boss stealing from us.
I’m trying to sue, but the lawyer needs to see whether it’s worth it to him.
I’m unemployed just before Christmas.
Does anyone have a job near a Boston? Can I be a full time activist and make bread money?
Sucks.
No good deed goes unpunished. Hope by now, things have improved for you. I've been called a "trouble maker" & fired once for working during a break. As Lee Camp would sing, "they've got their money but we've got our souls". Now if we could just eat that.......
Caught your boss stealing from you? What do you mean? He/she already was.
"If there's one upside to continuous mismanagement by authority figures, it's that it tends to erode people's confidence in authority. And my friends, we have entered into an unprecedented age of mismanagement."
Bless this quote. Bless this video. Bless you. You did better than give me hope - you made me laugh at all the bullshit we have to deal with.
Lulz, the fact you exist Matt, makes me happier hahahaha. I honestly feel less alone listening to you speak, knowing I'm not the only one. Thank you for making it through everything you have gone through to be here and speak from a platform like this. Smile as much as you can comrade.
AT LEAST WE ARE TAKING CAPITALISTS WITH US
existential. anarchist CHEERS!
The final mission of Hitman 2 is about how the capitalists and political elites are building bunkers to survive climate change. The movie Kingsman is also about that.
Yup
It's either we or them.
I really like this channel and I hope more people find you.
Who amongst us knew how much we’d all need this a year later. Thanks again!
That was... inspiring.
Favorite RUclips channel right here 🙌🏼 I needed to hear this. Keep on keeping on, thoughtslime
Oooohhh thank you so much for appealing to my spite.
I have no hope left in my heart. All I have is Rage.
9:22 thank you for the exposure, comrade~!!!!!!!!! I really hate this picture!!!! 😂🤣🤣its so bleak, i did NOT know!!!!
i'm really glad i found this channel
Contrapoints influence everywheree!
im glad that u said that whole thing about spite in there. hope is kind of impossible for me right now, but i can be full of spite any day. great video :]
Thank you, your content is amazing. :)
*"Abandon all hope, ye who enter here!"*
So sympathize with "Brain Slime." Downright happy there is a Thought Slime channel. Keep neckerchieffing the good kerchief, comrade.
Time to start planting a billion trees a year
This needs way more views
Fuck yes new Thought Slime ❤
I hope more people find this channel you explain things really well
I love the wardrobe for this one!
First few seconds had me thinking this was a contra video
It's true, but it unfortunately isn't the most profitable thing, profits over life! That's the motto unfortunately
Did I just see a fucking SLIME-SWIPE?!
Bravo sir, bravo...!
Oh, SlimeBrains, I love you so! You take my holiday blues, drive me into deep despair, then slam your defibrillator paddles of hope against my psyche and bring me back again.. bless you. You even throw a lil Vonnegut reference in there, just for me, bc you know how much I love my boy Kurt. I like you! ❤️🏴
PS - if “EVERYTHING IS MISERABLE
AND THERE IS NO HOPE”, isn’t a Kurt Vonnegut reference, then forgive me. For those who have no idea what I’m prattling on about, look up “Everything was beautiful, and nothing hurt”... and read Kurt Vonnegut’s material from the late 50s through the 70s (read it all, but that’s the more important stuff)... 💋✌🏼
Vonnegut is mh favourite writer, but that was not intentional I'm afraid. I have made reference to that quote in past vids tho
Thought Slime Ah, ok, so it’s true, we’re meant to be together. He’s my favorite author too (fiction, that is)! More people need to read him. I’m just gonna believe that it was an unconscious reference, a Freudian slip of sorts, since you like him so much, anyway. 🙏🏼❤️
This video never fails to give me back the hope and energy I need. Thank you so much for making it!
good christ we were at "please stay hopeful" a YEAR AGO???
ITS TWO YEARS ACTUALL&
Still hoping.
Perfect timing in my household, thank you
I just applied to be part of the Earth Strike graphics team, and I'm planning to take some sort of action in my hometown on the 15th. Your video contributed to that. I am sick of succumbing to my anxiety and depression about the state of the world - I want to make a change! Thank you.
"if hope doesn't work for you, try spite" is honestly helpful
Digibro is ThinkSlime's evil twin brother
This reminds me a bit of ContraPoints. Great video! Your videos actually made me turn from a kinda right capitalist to a left socialist! Contents great, keep it up!
Thank you slime man, I appreciate you.
"Oh, so we don't have to storm the Bastille?"
*Saying this, he casually threw aside a large guillotine*
Whoa whoa whoa... not so hasty. One always needs a good guillotine
I've tried to keep my Hard Socialist Leftube and my *æ* *s* *t* *h* *e* *t* *i* *c* Leftube mentally compartmentalised, but ur making it difficult
Hoo boy, its time for all of us to be friends!
Thank you for posting the links!
Because of this video, I just sent my name to the Earth-Strike Discord. You're right. The time for mere talk is over. Thank you so much, Comrade Slime.
I need a bottle or two of rum
I just bought 12 beer, heres to queers getting loaded. See you at the protest :)
Well done. The future is the SRA, Mutual Aid Disaster Relief and groups that actually do the work rather than quibble over theory in endless meetings.
I think for me the chief motivator is fear. I've always leaned left on the mainstream issues but it's having a child and fearing for the world we'll leave for her that has knocked me far left and focussed me on issues that the mainstream would like us not to see as issues, like whether or not our entire system is rigged.
Ever forward!
Only about half of your subscriptors have seen this masterpiece...
honestly i love the vibe of this video. your expressions are so infectious in this one. very breadtubey, we stan
Here a year and a half late, but I guess we all start somewhere. Here's to hope and spite, to fixing the world, or at least to making the powerful uncomfortable with the atrocities they've inflicted on humanity and the earth. I needed this, thank you.
*Excellent* video. Your best yet, probably.
Truly the world has never known a more ruthless despot than the CDI King of Hyrule.
Hey thought slime feel like sharing any of that alcohol?
I was thinking that same thought throughout the entire video.
SHOTS FOR EVERYONE!
i hate to say that this was much more visually stimulating compared to the static slime sewer background used at the time of commenting
very philosophytube/contrapoints
Thanks for this, I really needed the motivation right now.
As someone from "gen z", it seems like there is no future for us at all. It's really hard to maintain hope, but it's the only thing keeping us (or me at the very least) from completely giving up on life.
The last third of this "old" video took me from merely LIKING ThoughtSlime content to LOVING ThoughtSlime. Never, ever underestimate the glorious power of spite.
afterthought: Tucker Carlson wears a bowtie, and he is horrifying
