GormyGorm Use feedback, a guitarist I'm very fond of named Greg Sage from The Wipers used this technique in many of his songs. By getting just a little feedback, you induce infinite sustain without harmonics. If you go ahead and give it a listen, keep in mind it's 80s alt punk (not hardcore like black flag or minor threat) and that you won't get so much as a sweeping lick in it lol

From the 10 ways to play a solo vid, I really wanna be The Tasty Licker and The Classic. I've only recently started guitar lessons, and I goddamn hope I can be like those types.

Jblooddrunk I feel like my progress right now is slow as fuck. I've been playing for like 1-2 months now and I still can't switch chords quickly. I know I just need to really practice, but this seems abnormally slow.
Manu Perez Guitar learning is abnormally slow. It is like learning a second language really. The key is to stay brutally consistent with your practice schedules and practice the things you aren't good at...not just play the things you find the easiest and most rewarding.

Also, my brother (who played guitar way before I did) tells me that I should master the basics first. In fact he gets mad when I try playing riffs of actual songs. I tried playing the intro riff of Master of Puppets recently, and it didn't look very intimidating, but he didn't like that I was practicing that.
