Marvelous tonality, musicality, lirycism, colours of the vibrations... mysthical atmosphere hovering over the divine head of Janine...pure genius...
And she was playing my favourite coutryman composer, unsung underrated human being, brilliant Karol Szymanowski.
Thank you so much for sharing the gem with us !!!

The first piece is the famous Fountain of Arethuse, inspired by Szymanowski's visit to Sicily. He at once fell in love with the island and returned to it, also musically (King Roger, Metopes). Great performance here, I'm absolutely stunned.

Unearthly charm and magic. Gets me out of my body and carries away from where I view everything in an almost divine perspective.... Yes, I finally got the words to render my sensations as I live through this apparently tangible yet so elusive moment.

Was getekend, Rolf den Otter, Delft.

Tke apparent bitonalty - which is iin fact an enlargement of tonal concepts put down by Debussyt gives to these ('Myths' a kund of blurred expression, as lost in a remote past, while thee drawing of the theme is more firm, evoking the myth in itself.

I admire the intensity of the violinist; the skill of the pianist, but for me, even though I like Syzmanowski's 2 Violin Concertos, the jury is still out on this composition. It simply did not communicate. Maybe another time.

Even with so much bravura, for me it remains a jungle of old emotions, of something, which seeks desperately a way to be, condemned on this track to be for ever unsatisfied. Sorry, can't connect to this world, not so sure if it is due to the piece or interpretation; I'd opt for the second.

  • @davehshs651

Excellent playing of music that sounds like it could have been composed by a hopeless inmate in Auschwitz or in a dungeon of a mental institution for the incurably schizophrenic. It mirrors a mind and emotions in frantic, desperate chaos. This music is the anti-Bach.
