He has a RUclips channel called Justin Hawkins Rides Again. He may review your review. He's been known to do that.
I would recommend a canadian duo, Crown Lands, and their last single, "Lady of the Lake". Seriously Maggie, you will be blown away!
Why not critique your own original material 👍
Please make review for malachi in America's got talent. Thanks a lot
check out anythjing by the late patricia janeckova who died in october from breast cancer, aged 25, six weeks after getting married!!!!
The Darkness perfectly straddled the line between "they're really serious about rocking this hard" and "they're making fun of rocking this hard," and I could never figure out which. Somehow it was both.
If you’re taking it seriously you’re doing it wrong. They didn’t straddle shit. They made the line their own
Classic 70's British rock kept alive by a band populated by seriously good musicians. Nothing more to it tbh
Scaroused is the word you’re looking for
Also, the lead singer is a RUclipsr now - Justin Hawkins Rides Again.
Love his Channel
Awesome channel.
Justin reacted to @TheCharismaticVoice ‘s reaction to this very same video, and later had quite the interesting, in-depth conversation with her. Perhaps a lengthy conversation with Maggie is in order, if he sees this video?😅
seriously!?!?!?! That's him?!?!? LMAO
He also interviewed Ren recently which was epic
Fun fact, the original no budget music video they filmed was shot in a supermarket and he sang into a sausage they picked up off the shelf like it was a microphone. The part in this video where he's singing into a sausage is an homage.
Fun fact, it's the same sausage!
Original video prop was an hair spray
@@coat.thik1 nah it was the same sausage
They are absolutely phenomenal live.
Yep...seen them in a little dive in Kenosha Wi.... They were Awesome!!! worth the 4 hr trip... ;)
What an album, permission to land, and what a band, and brilliant live
Justin hawkins has a youtube channel too. He talking about all the songs and other band's music.
Justin Hawkins is the best! You should talk to him 😊
Love is only a feeling is about as melodically pleasing as it gets.
The Darkness - I Believe in a Thing Called Love Live in Sydney 16.10.2022
The lead singer is Justin Hawkins, and he has a RUclips channel now: Justin Hawkins Rides Again. "The Charismatic Voice" did a collab with him. I'm sure you could, too. Justin was also a masked singer. He didn't win, but got really high up.
The Darkness and Scissor Sisters, which you need to check out, were two of my favorite bands of the 2000s.
Great band and glad they all got alive
Absolute banger of a song at a time when there was very few banger tunes.
The darkness are one of my favourite bands. Another good song to react to by them is Love is Only a Feeling. I also really like the song Open Fire.
Ah yes The Darkness, though they never take themselves seriously, they do take their music seriously. They are not shy in wearing their influences on their sleeves, AC/DC and Queen mostly. Speaking of Queen, their current drummer is Rufus Taylor, son of Roger Taylor of Queen. As for their music I would suggest you check out Open Fire, Last of Our Kind, Heart Explodes.
I was lucky enough to see them live back in the day. My old boss hired them for our company Christmas party.
We need to hear the story 👀
"That's a lot of amps."
He's "Marshalling" his resources.
Yes my man 😂
Justin said him and his brother tried to write the dumbest song they could think of... and came uo with this one and had no idea it would have hit this big.....thats awesome when I first saw the video I was wth..but the song is so catchy I watch it now I just laugh so much..my daughter loves this song ..we used to do car kareoke to this song ..it was fun we would bust up laughing..😂👍
And tell me i am wrong.
Freddy would totally love this! He would friggin loooove this!
He still sings this good, too!
I love this song! I miss college. 😆
Same, early 2000s. 😂
Christmas time - Don't let the bells end. Classic Darkness Christmas song
That guitar tone is fkn perfect🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🇦🇺👈
Right? It might just be the most grounded guitar tone I’ve ever heard. I feel like a bulldozer could hit me and I would win while I’m listening to this song
I once saw them at the old Trocadero in Philly. Justin, the singer, climbed up from the stage, to the balcony. Went hand-over-hand to the back of the theater, dropped off of the balcony into the crowd, then, crowd-surfed all the way back to the stage.
If you like this and guitar harmonies, you need to check out Thin Lizzy - Fighting, Philip Lynott - Dear Miss Lonelyhearts, Thin Lizzy - We will be strong, and so on. Thin Lizzy, basically. There have been others, but none come close.
^ this please.
Scarred forever LOL, Love it!!!! great job Maggie that was fun :D See you soon!
I reacted the same as you. He is genius, a brilliantly shining light. God.level singer.
I always dreamed of a CheeseFest, with The Darkness, Dragonforce, and a third I can't recall currently. Ideally held in Cheddar, UK. Because they all just own the cheese. They don't pretend to be pretentious artistes, they are cheesy as hell and they're OK with that.
That horrified yet intrigued expression mixed with the head bobbing is pretty much the perfect first impression with this entire experience of a song and music video combo. 😂
EPIC ONE HIT WONDER!!!!😎🎸🤘👏🙌👍🎉
Justin Hawkins had a great interview with Ren on his video channel
I'd recommend Love is Only A Feeling, Holding My Own, or Love On The Rocks With No Ice. All from their first album
this is such a fun song.. i have it on my playlist at work.
"one way ticket to hell and back" "love is only a feeling" and "black shuck" are all great songs by the darkness.
I would add "Love on the Rocks With No Ice" to that list
@@GMaybee good pick.
“love is only a feeling” is amazing
@jilliansmaniotto2326 As soon as I read your comment, I could hear the intro. You're right it is amazing!
@@GMaybee the darkness doesn’t get nearly the love they deserve. their songwriting is on a different level. they could have been one of the biggest bands in history if they hadn’t put the brakes on shortly after this album. they were so unlike anything else at the time, and so damn talented, while still refusing to take themselves seriously. just a crazy combo. I just found out the lead singer started a youtube channel a couple years ago and it’s magnificent - really interesting, and usually hilarious, content. highly recommend if you haven’t checked it out yet - it’s called justin hawkins rides again.
Hi Maggie :)
The Darkness is very glam rock/ glam metal. I would suggest listening to The Sweet next if you like this. Their biggest song is Ballroom Blitz, but I also v love Little Willy, Love is like Oxygen, and Wig Wam Jam.
Have w beautiful Monday :)
He'll raiser is another good one of theirs.
Hellraiser
Don't let the bells end! Come on kids!
The singer and lead guitarist are brothers. Both are very good players
You should do The Darkness "Love is Only a Feeling"...beautiful song and amazing video of Blue Mountains in Sydney.
One of a kind band without a doubt, channeling the Glam rock era, with a sense of humor. Another highly original metal band you might enjoy: Coheed and Cambria: strange, creative often operatic, with themes that are downright bizarre. Check out Ten Speed of God's blood, which is most certainly the only song in history about a demonically possessed bicycle.
As someone else said the best harmony guitars in rock are from Thin Lizzy. Run do not walk to the nearest song. Jail Break. Boys are back in town.
Wild One.
1:50 ,,,, a Uranguthan sqeezing an Orange ! priceless !! LMAO
I love watching reactions to this video and song.
Epical is my new favorite word
Thanks for this, Maggie! I love The Darkness, and Justin Hawkins is amazing -- please react to more of their music. (If you think they are nothing more than a *parody* band, the joke is on you; these guys do legit rock and roll, with thoughtful and often amusing lyrics.) I recommend these songs: Bald, Open Fire, Growing On Me, Black Shuck, Hazel Eyes, Motorheart, and many more!
The Darkness are somewhere between Bohemian Rhapsody era Queen and Spinal Tap on the rock scale
I'm so glad you loved this song! I'm a HUGE Darkness fan! I actually think Justin sounds like an opera singer!
"That's a lot of amps"
I'd say it's an ample amount 😅
These guys brought glam rock back in the middle of the alt rock n nu metal era. At the time i got quite sick of hearing this song. Working in a kitchen that only allowed radio no CDs, we heard it every 30-45 minutes over a 10-12 hr shift 6 days a week, and hear in the clubs at night too. Now its pure nostalgia for me.
He is a musical legend
As Plankton said in that movie..."HIS CHOPS ARE TOO RIGHTEOUS!!!".
It's a space squid that was getting "Randy" with ship.
i discovered the darkness from justin hawkins rides again from his ren reaction and interview. he's very cool
Strange indeed but great! I am a big time electric guitar fan so this was right up my alley. And that voice! And as a bonus some fine snarly head voice from Maggie, Yay SpongeBob!
Everything to this song is a massive tribute to Queen. His clothing, the harmonics of all instruments and someof the imagery in the video that nods to Bohemian Rhapsody. The song title is play on the Queen song, Crazy little thing called love, which was written by Freddie Mercury while he was in the bath...which make explain the opening scene 😆
And some Thin Lizzy with that twin guitar harmony.
How ironic that their drummer is the son of Roger Taylor, Queens drummer. 🤘🤘
The Darkness are brilliant
Too fun❤😊
no giant crabs were harmed in the making of this music video
Modern British Glam Rock at its best
They have turned into a kind of metal cabaret act now, an off shoot from the Darkness called The Stone Gods are worth a watch.
Uploaded 8 years ago but the song is from 2003!
thats a fun song and fun video
This is off their "Permission to Land" album. Worth listening to. Maggie, you're referring to the goofy goober song (sounds like a twisted sisters song) in The Spongbob Squarepants Movie
Among all the silliness The Darkness are genuinely a great rock and roll band. That album is a stone cold classic.
Justin will still pull on the catsuit, though. I think he was wearing it at the Taylor Hawkins tribute show.
The Darkness rules.
You should definitely react to The Darkness - Barbarian. You'll get a killer riff, fantastic video, and you'll learn about the Viking invasion of the eastern coast of England. What more could you ask for?
Yes!! This song doesn't get enough credit. And the video is great, too
He doesn't say "get down" he says "guitar" right before the solo
Thank you so much Maggie :-) Once again, pleasure :-) If you love guitar harmonies, you should do some Thin Lizzy. For example theri song "Chinatown".
🖤The Darkness!!! Next video continues into next song 'Friday Night' -I'd also like (original videos) of 'Is It Just Me?' & 'Love is Only a Feeling' -Thanks!!!
He has a huge… talent.
I would recommend One Way Ticket To Help by them.
Knockers & is it just me by The Darkness🤟🤟🤟🤟🇦🇺👈
You are awesome and beautiful 🤘
He is the guy in and diet Dr. Pepper commercials the with the high voice you can tell 😉
Justin Hawkins! Loved this reaction, thanks
lol for more The Darkness checkout "Open Fire". Don't worry you wont get scared by that one lmfao
He might have out-ranged you. What a song
What's not to love about retro-culture (incl. music and video) when done as brilliant as this??
He’s got the Mariah Carey “whistle” register.
You should check out Panic! At the Disco' s cover of this, it's just as epic. I believe the live cover was captured in Glasgow.
good one Bays Girl
Love Justin H xx❤
5:17 - "ALIENS?!" I mean... 😂
Check out their Christmas song ;)
Even though its looks like the musicians are also doing backing vocals. Justin did all the backing vocals himself. Much like Freddie Mercury
As another said below Justin has his own RUclips channel and its great. He's great. It'd be great if you ensed up on his channel.
5:24 Maggie discovers Glam 🎉
hi, there is a guitar battle in the duck dodgers season 3.
And the beacon😢😮😅😂
Sponge Bob was referencing The Darkness.
Maggie, I can't find your "Don't let the Bells end " reaction :(? I tried searching your channel and via the normal youtube search but nothing, was it a Pateron only one?
he have the stage precence of freddy mercury
I hate to say it but it's a really catchy tune❤
To hell & back -The Darkness👍🏻🤟🤟🤟🇦🇺👈plus
Is it just me
You should see Rock and Roll deserves to die !
Please do black shuck. Based on a local myth of a devil dog that roams norfolk and suffolk in uk
I loved this song when it came out. Sadly, The Darkness seemed to vanish as fast as they popped up and I haven't heard of them since. Maybe its worth looking into what became of them.
This song reminded me of a Mix of Queen and Led Zeppelin, which I both love.
Vanish? They have had a couple of mini hiatuses, most notably when Justin had to go through rehab (he’s been sober for several years now), but they’ve kept going. They’re currently working on their 8th studio album, in between playing a few shows. I’ve seen them twice in the last 12 months and they are great live.
@@CoffeeMatt10 I'm aware that they never really vanished, but after a few hits they no longer appeared in TV that much, so I sort of forgot about them. But I will update myself about what they have done since then.
@@Nachtschicht1 They came out just before everyone quit buying records. Their next record came after and while they have a strong (and it is strong) fanbase, unless your name is Taylor, Bey, or you have face tattoos, its hard to get heard outside of fan channels these days.
If you like weird, talented stuff like this, Mindless Self Indulgence will blow your mind - and probably leave you more scarred.
Well fucking hell there's a name I haven't heard in SO long.
Odd how The Darkness stepped back into the shadows so to speak, as they were very big at the time - I saw them at the Birmingham NEC opening for Deep Purple and Lynyrd Skynyrd back in the day :)
No band has ever gotten bigger, then fallen off faster than these guys. They were headlining Reading Festival before the album had even come out. That was only on the strength of a couple of singles.
The 'disappointing' second album brought them crashing down, though. Although they picked themselves up and are now a solid band with a catalogue of good-to-great albums and can still draw a crowd.
Oh my dears.... They are bigger than ever, just not interested in ratings and charts. They tour all the time and recorded a couple of virtual concerts during Covid that were EPIC! Just search on YT....
holy blabbermouth
My wife loves the Darkness. Isn't their drummer Roger Taylor's son?
