For those looking to do this - the vehicle has to be level so keep that in mind you'll have to have it on stands and level.
I'm also wondering if after it's filled the car should be put in gear so the haldex actually engages. Just starting it isn't going to get the haldex going. OH and if you take the filter off, make note of its orientation it can go on wrong
The pump should be running when you turn the motor on, it's always on weather it's engaged or not I believe.. but yeah definitely level and the filter really only goes on properly one way
Also, I wouldn't reccomend letting it hang by the wires. My braided ground crumbled. Not sure if it will be an issue, but should be avoided.
Thank you for the helpful video!! I did this today on my 8v rs3, and it was really easy. I don't think the filter on mine has ever been taken out and cleaned before, but it's atleast nice and clean now! My local mechanic wanted over $200 to do this, but it only cost $20 to do it myself🙌
Heck yeah!!!! LOVE to hear that 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Hey, just wanted to thank you for this. We have a 2018 Tiguan MQB and the independent shop manual doesn't seem to be on AllDataDIY for it yet, so I was trying to figure out how to do this. Your video was super helpful. Thanks so much.
Glad I could help!! I have another on front/rear diffs and manual trans as well.
Why did I think a haldex service was more than a simple filter clean and fluid change lol. Thanks for the video! Doing this soon! :)
It's easy! Make sure sure sure you clean that filter! Also racingline just dropped a kit with magnetic plugs and reusable hardware for the haldex and both diffs.. I'll be getting those soon
finally a nice video showing the importance of the Pump! Big luv from germany bro!
😏😏🤘🏾
Great video Bryce. I’ll be doing this soon and this helps a lot!
Glad I could help! 😊🤙
I have an RS3 and i still have no clue on this part of the vehicle.
Maybe cause i always been driving FWD and a 2022 supra,
totally new to this platform.
Yeah it's a bit weird over here with haldex lol once you get under the car and look around you'll see what were doing here
Nice. I’m going to check my filter on my old Haldex 👍🏻👍🏻
I wanna see!
Thank you so much for this brother, giving it a go tonight
Thanks for the excellent video! I will do it in the future, but for now I'm not sure if do it myself or dealer. As I've got 1 year of free maintenance. I guess the 2015 RS3 8V needs this every 30k miles or so
I'd take it upon yourself man, I haven't heard of many failures lately (probably because people are doing them their selves) it's definitely worth the work to know it's done right with that filter being inspected and cleaned. Maybe you can ask for them to specifically do that inspection and take pictures for you or something
@@BryceJordanProductions thanks a lot!! Then maybe I can do it myself to make sure everything is ok. If not I will ask the dealer for pictures
hei man! good vid, detialed perfectly! just on thing, so this covers the oil for the haldex, but i am wondering, does the diff it self run on the same oil or it has different oil plus fill and drain plugs?
Same fluid but it has its own system (they're not connected) so it has its own drain and fill plugs as well. I have another video on doing the front diff, rear diff, and manual trans fluids
@@BryceJordanProductions found it! seem like i have work for my skoda octavia vrs this weekend :)) son's of bitches from dealership say they are not serviceable and it has around 60k miles and they didn't touch it. thanks bro for the quality videos! cheers and all the best!
Glad I could help! Good luck and have fun!
@@BryceJordanProductions Haldex and diff fluid are different aren’t they? Haldex fluid shouldn’t be put in a diff!
Bryce does this work with the 8j TTRS?
Is that the mk2 or mk3
@@BryceJordanProductionsMk3 I believe
Then yes.
Great instructional video(s) you do. Any info on torque settings? Regards Stephen
Here's the books for mk7 itll have the values in there plus alot of extra good info

Thanks for the info Bryce. Regards Stephen
very informative, thanks. Just completed this service, had a little bit of fluid left in the bottle. Hope that's normal??
Not a huge deal. I try and pump it all in always lose a little
Did you replace any bolts or seals? I see kits that include all the drain/fill plugs and pump bolts/seals but I don't think that would be necessary unless you plan on stripping all of them lol
I did replace the seals each time but not the hardware, doing that every other change just incase
Not worth it. Just drain and refill. The other stuff isn't worth the headache.
Great video man!!!
Thanks!!
Awesome video man.. subscribed!
Thanks buddy! Welcome to the channel!
my mk7.5 R had a much dirtier screen at 30k, globs of black stuff. haven't really driven it that hard, i think it's from lots of winter driving
Definitely keep an eye and do it more often!
Thanks for the vid bro!
Not a problem!!
I got multiple questions hopefully you can patent me in the right direction..
Got me a 2015 S3 the lunch control has stopped working figure the haldex is gone to the dogs (how I know you may ask) front tire smoke the hell up when launching while the rear wheel just follows
I’ve changed the fluid changed and the pump same result front tires smokes badly when doing launch control
I live in the USVI there is no Audi dealership.. closest one is in Puerto Rico where as I have to ship the vehicle to a whole other island just to get a diagnosis which I already have a bright idea what the problem is I really don’t wanna waste money
Call Audi dealerships at Florida and Puerto Rico both telling me car must come into shop for part to work because even though I install the hardware the software needs to be synced which I find is bogus
So my questions are
1. Did you changed the haldex system yourself (without the dealership involved)
2. Is there any programming needed of the new haldex after mounting it for it to work (meaning going into Audi for them to put the car on a computer for the new part to be synced) or is it once you put in the hardware that’s it your good to go with new fluid of course
I would really appreciate it if you can help me out buddy
Ummmm have you tried any of the haldex tests in vcds/obd11? I know there's some type of adaptation you can do in there that I've heard fixed some people's issues.. I've never replaced a haldex myself, just fluids/filters. My best suggestion for you would be to ask (or join if you haven't) the MQB page on Facebook, there's over 18,000 members on there, I'm sure one of the techs could lead you in the right direction
With the gen 5 do you not need to use vagcom to circulate the fluid? Or will running it be good enough?
Supposed to drive the car a little check level and refill if needed i believe
What's it mean if I been told there's metal shavings in the oil of haldex
Things are wearing. Could've been from low fluids.. how many miles? I have a unit for sale actually if you need it
Wow, amazing how clean your filter was.
Shit yeah, I'm happy lol. Didn't expect any of that
My local VW dealer doesn't even have a part number for the filter. Would the filter portion of you video apply to a 2012 Golf R? Do you know where can you buy a new filter if one is needed? Just picked up my Golf (65,000 miles) and no record of this service being done. Is my Haldex system already toast? Thanks
It's not the same generation of haldex so you won't have the same as in this video. Other gens use different filters if I recall correctly
You have a gen 4 haldex. This should help
www.urotuning.com/products/haldex-gen-4-filter-replacement-kit-haldex-111358?variant=8385082851383&Google%20Shopping&gclid=CjwKCAjwpuXpBRAAEiwAyRRPgWqPX-XEx1eOVeEeC55brnirV_LD51Pc5cyvpif2l8euyAO2OzH7eBoCYFAQAvD_BwE
So I watched your video and serviced my 2018 audi RS3. I now have a loud vibration/shutter at moderate to medium torque and never had that before. Used genuine audi fluid and followed your steps to the T. What is going on? I've had some guys tell me to use my obdeleven tool to turn on the pump motor, I've had others say to drive it around the block then top off, I've had others say to do other things to the awd system in obdelevn. I just really need some help.
You sure you filled up the right port? You did the haldex and not the diff? I'd double check, and top it off.
@@BryceJordanProductions do you have fb messenger? I can send you the video of the work I did.
I have a Facebook page Bryce Jordan Productions you can message me there I'll getcha in the AM
Hi, Haldex Gen 5 is about all Automatic Gears with DSG7 right ? I own 2012 Audi Q3 Quattro DSG7 and I'm wondering if i have Gen 4 or Gen 5 ?
You probably have gen 3 actually. 2015+ will be gen 5
Is it necessary to reset the haldex pump with vcds after fluid change?
Have you had any issues with AWD since you didn't reset the pump?
Nah never a problem, some do some don’t. Won’t hurt to do it!
@@BryceJordanProductions thanks for the feedback!
Anytime Vito!
You were right. I just did the Haldex and rear diff fluid change myself, no need for vcds or pump reset, just brought it up to 20C. Thanks for the confidence buddy. Saved me $200 from a shady Audi dealership and the fact they don't clean the pump is just horrible. I would highly recommend anyone with commonsense to do this service themselves. Cheers
Love to hear this! Glad you got it done and saved some cash man. 🍻
Is the haldex oil the same oil wich is used in diff or the haldex is just for pump and metal plates?
It’s just for haldex
@@BryceJordanProductions thank you. I have problem in my skoda octavia scout 2.0 tdi 184 hp. And my problem is that rear doesnt work. I have removed my pump and there was some sticky material on filter and inside where pump stay. I clean that, put another oil and still doesnt work, do you think that pump is maybe failed?
So you only need to use a single bottle of the fluid?
Yes
Hello Bryce thanks for videl, one question. My Kodiaq already 67k km. Should i apply Haldex oil change ?
Wouldn't hurt!
I start get some noise when truning left or right at very low speed only comming from rear train. Im expecting to be haldex pompe ? What do you think ? Thanks
@@adiltaleb8332 hard to say without hearing it. I wouldn't suspect but it could be
All haldex oil gets sludge in it and it fowls filters, sticks to the walls and clogs the prefilter to the pump.
It sure does!
"Pump Learn" procedure is not necessary to start ?
I've never done it
Was doing this today and accidentaly drained via the wrong bolt. There is a bolt toward the bottom of the diff right above the RSB which looks identical to the fill hole bolt. Wonder why they have this in addition to the actual drain plug bolt.
Germans man.. who knows 😅
@@BryceJordanProductions Oh it is the rear diff drain
Doesnt it need to be reset a couple of times after using VCDS for it to work properly?
Not that i know of. i never have
Great video! I've concluded that my haldex pump has failed as i get massive amounts of wheelspin from the front whenever i put my foot down! Around about a $200 part to order in and do it myself. just a quick question, when you serviced your haldex, did you change out the other filter aswell (not the one screen on the pump) as this too can get glogged up with gunk?
I didn't know there was another filter?? I know the older haldex systems had a filter filter that got replaced but not on the gen 5. Hope that pump fixes everything for ya!
Nice work!
It's crazy that dealer shops charge $300 to ONLY drain and refill the fluid and to NOT even check the filter screen and clean if needed. I mean seriously it probably takes them like 20" to drain and refill? Are they using gold plated drain/fill bolts or something? You'd think it be preventive maintenance to always clean the screen when performing Haldex service. Unbelievable!
I agree man!
Thank you very much!
🤘🤘🤘
Merci mec tes le meilleur ;)
Cheers buddy
hello haldex oil G060175A2 is it compatible for audi rs3 400 2018?
Same haldex same fluid yes sir
@@BryceJordanProductions many thanks for thé response 😌🤗
How often does this need to be serviced on my 2015 A3. I'm at about 43k miles
Book says 30 I say 20
@@BryceJordanProductions From the Audi 2017 Maintenance Schedule it states to service "Every 3 years regardless of mileage". Even if the facelift models (2017+) have conflicting guidance I would use the current/updated MX schedule because they are internally the same power & drive train.
For the haldex?? It says 30 from multiple sources 🤷♂️🤷♂️ I'd do it early and clean that screen!
@@BryceJordanProductions totally agree! Cleaning the screen is a simple preventive MX step and an oversight from VW/Audi. But the key term is "regardless" of mileage, but that should be balanced with your annual mileage and how "aggressive" you push your vehicle.
Just did this today. I would not reccomend removing the haldex pump. My braided ground was so corroded it just crumbled. Also, there was almost nothing in the filter screen or housing. Not worth the time or money.
Thats prolly good that tyou found it then…. imagine the issues you could’ve had later on
@@BryceJordanProductions is the grounding strap that important? Looks like it can't be replaced without replacing the whole pump?
If it's there from the factory I'm sure it's required. I have no actual idea though
Mega job..
No no this ain't bad at all!
Is this same process on a 2008 Audi S3 thanks
No sir it is not, only 2015+ MQB vehicles. It should be pretty similar but you may actually have a replaceable filter
@@BryceJordanProductions thanks for the reply
@@jamescam200962 🤙
@@BryceJordanProductions would you be able to tell me what the symptoms of a faulty haldex system is as I'm going to look at an S3 today thanks
@@jamescam200962 it'll spin the front wheels basically. Hit that shit hard in first and if she spins a bunch then you'll know
soooo uhhhh....you wanna do the dsg with me when its time? lol
Absolutely, easy peasy! 😛🤘
Lol.. Autohobby shop for the win.
They are life savers!
@@BryceJordanProductions I concur...I used them many times. It is super nice that your GF is there for you to help. I have been watching a few videos of yours already, very cool content. Have you repaired the DSG transmission already? I had a S3 before, it was a very smooth car.
I have a manual car :/ ordered a used trans, LSD, dog gears 3-6, shift forks.. they're all headed to one of the best known VW trans shops in the nation to be built!
