Good work Jason! I find that I get a lot less tear out when the bit is spinning at the highest speed and also clamping the jig helps to make the cleanest holes.
So one key element that was not addressed is how to front to back and side to side alignment of the shelf pin holes. How many shelves have you seen that were supported on three points and would wobble?
I numbered my template holes that way if I'm tired and I'm doing the holes fast but not all the whole I can say to myself holes 2-5 and only end up putting those in it.

I suggest using 4.9mm drill bit, which in case of hand drilling will achieve exact hole diameter, so the shelve hanger will fit tight enough.
