that's slick as owl shit there! I like how the tool design incorporates simple geometry to simplify setup and reduce the risk of errors via the triangles drawn on the shelves and sides. If your triangles are correct and aligned, the tedious task of measuring and checking and spatially visualizing the assembled pieces to ensure everything is aligned is omitted which makes life easier. Great design and functionality. I might invest in one of these and use dowel joinery rather than pocket holes and screws on joints of this type, what do you think? How does this dowel joinery compare to pocket hole joinery? Would this be a viable alternative to pocket holes and screws?
I`m retired and have a small shop where I perform woodturning, create musical instruments, and some cabinetry. I have a shelf full of woodworking textbooks - but I found this woodworking guide, t.co/SGIXIPXR0z . The comprehensiveness of this book is surprising. It has decent coverage on every topic.?
Why do people always have to say that? Seriously, I'm curious. Germans top corporations buys entire companies from other countries like Dremel is from the US for example. I don't constantly see "American engineering, well done" or even if it's Japanese I don't see that. Only Germany as if everyone else is inferior which they're not. Even Russians are excellent at engineering for what little cash they have available and perform better than Germany in certain fields without question, especially militaristic science.
Queen Elizabeth III The German workforce work to very high standards. I remember watching a TV program where people were building a house in the UK, their builders were delayed, deliveries were late etc, the Germans turned up from Germany on time @5am, they carried out the work, finished on time a week or so later, work was of a very high standard then they washed their van and left on time. Here in the UK engineers get away with whatever they can, which leads to a drop in standards, a race to the bottom. Late starts, early finishes and do as little as possible in between is what I see daily. I worked for the Japanese, if they had 5 production lines for instance, they would consider it a shame to be rated 5th and would work unpaid to catch up.

Yes I agree. In this case for a simple bookcase I would go with pockethole screws and a good wood glue. You save a lot of time needing half the number of setupsfor holes being drilled. Dowels might be the right solution for some projects but for most things I do with a little bit of planning ahead pockethole screws work great.
@@MrJaaaaakescrews and dowels have pro and con. For a beginner is far easyer with screws. Not pocket holes, just screws. Pre drilled of course. And i do believe your joinery is fine and strong. My problem is with THIS tool.
This tool goes by different names in different countrys , i have the exact same device with different name on it....try looking for in your local hardware stores...it is a "Dowel Jig"
Looks fun for someone who’s never built a anything. No lateral rigidity whatsoever, crappy joinery, slow process. Maybe it would better with a back or fastened against a wall. Pocket holes are much better, if nothing else.
You think pocket screws are superior here ? 🙄😂 A back panel would ,of course, stop racking... The beauty of the dowels is the glued-up joint is invisible... unlike pockets... and pocket hole jigs & their special drills are expensive in comparison... 🤨
