I am as late to this comment section as I was to this battle!!! I know it's been said a hundred times but you are severely underrated, the fluidity of your animation is unrivaled!!
Steaky and I have known each other for around 5 years and made together like 9 videos. Over time he became the best SFMer - movement-wise - and I'm incredibly proud of him. Show him endless support.
I mean, the shoot style thing matches up. He runs faster than all the mercs, even with ammo and stuff on him, and an infinite amount of baseballs, so his legs have GOT to be strong.
You really went above and beyond with the animation on this one! It's simply amazing. If I were to give constructive criticism however, I think certain things in the overall video quality are bit lacking. Those would be audio design and special effects. Maybe spend more time on those areas in future projects. Overall, great job! Looking forward to seeing more from Steaky!
"A real Australian... Never backs down from a fight!" Yeah, no kidding, living in a land famous for its deadly critter memes, a fight with a yeti would be an average Tuesday for an Australian
I love how unlike other extremely powerful fictional characters, Saxton Hale gets his power simply from being incredibly masculine and, of course, Australian.
There are so many animations parodying this scene, but I think this one, this one here is one of my favorites. Your streams all leading to this final masterpiece was great. And I still wonder why you haven’t gotten more subscribers with this much quality of animation… You are the supreme steak of the steakhouse.
Story: The Merc are training to become stronger, but then there was a sudden attack by Gray Mann and not only did he bring in more stronger robots, he also revived the extinct Yeti and enhanced it with Australium. When many of the Mercs realized that they can't win, they try to find phone to contact Saxton. When they do actually call him, he, at first, refused to fight because the Mercs are supposed to do the fighting for him. But then the Mercs mention the super Yeti and he immediately showed up.
Damn Steaky this is a really ambitious project! Did not expect all the custom audio and writing! That said, I'm a big fan of Jojo/Fist of North Star style punch-rush sequences (especially about reproducing them in 3D) and have some things to comment on about your recreation of it (from 0:56 to 1:45). Cloning a bunch of 3D arms and having them punch independently of each character they belong to was definitely a great start, but I feel you were lacking the power and intensity of the punch rush sequence, especially when it's so drawn out. To improve on what you have, you'd probably want to have Hale and the Yeti rotate their upper body further with varying angles to show the weight of each punch while also varying the punch angles and movements of their separated floating arm rigs. Ideally, some arm rigs would start from above and slightly behind the characters to punch down inwards and others would start from below to punch up inwards. You do some rotating of their torsos but it's a bit too small to really sell the power. The movements of the separated arms also feel a bit static (some of the arms also don't make sense in their position and angle). Lastly, I get the impression that you intentionally turned down the camera shake for clarity, but I think it would have helped to sell the effect, especially right at the start of the sequence. Some motion blur for post-processing would have helped as well (though I don't know how easy it would have been to apply that in SFM or in your video editor if you even could have). I didn't watch your stream so I don't know if you referenced other media, but using the BNHA All-Might vs Nomu fight exclusively as your source material for the punch-rush sequence might have been detrimental just because the way they animated it doesn't give a lot of ideas about how to reproduce it in 3D. I would have recommended checking out games like Jojo All-Star Battle to see some really good 3D punch rushes. Otherwise, there was clearly a lot of effort put into this project and I can understand if you didn't want to spend too much time on this one sequence (especially with how abstract these sequences are) to ensure that the rest of the fight motions are top-notch. And to that, I'd say you did a damn great job!
True now that i look back to it. Could've used more rotation on the spine bone's on the side shot's. I don't want this to sound like an excuse but i animated the project in 24 frames but rendered in 30 so the arms don't look exactly the same as in the 24 frame version feelsbadman. They were blocking the upperbody quite a bit, you couldn't had really seen it. Thanks for taking your time to type the critisism man, i appreciate it :D
This is some cartoon level smooth animation. Plus, the fact you used actual sound effects and voice clips, not just slapped BNA stuff on it, and used them so effectively really speaks volumes about the talent put into this.
I can't believe all of these livestreams came up to this! And this is amazing!! I loved watching the process of this animation to the end of it's making! You did a lot of work on this and it's really entertaining!
Got goosebumps when Saxton shouted his name again:) Saxton Hale might have his own comics, but he still sure is an underated character. Your animations are fantastic:) we need more Tf2 content with Saxton Hale in it!
In all my years of watching and using sfm, i have never seen animation this fluid in my entire life. 4 minutes of absolute satisfaction! GG Steaky, gg 👌
This is really good and fluid as hell, a year later we get a official vsh gamemode. (Btw the fast punches could be hidden with some effects, the hands appearing out of nowhere look really silly lol)

Okay, I love how the lines weren't straight copied from My Hero Academia, the lines, sound effects, and plot are all TF2 themed, even if the sequence is entirely MHA.
After watching this through the first time I opened up "You Say Run" in a new tab and synced it up to fit over the animation. Best decision I ever made.
As soon as I clicked on this video and saw the scenery I immediately knew it was kelp dome lmao but nonetheless very nice place for this though! Keep up the good work man! ❤

Hi
Yeah, audio is the most lacking part of the video. It's not bad but it doesn't match the quality of the animation.
"A real Australian... Never backs down from a fight!" Yeah, no kidding, living in a land famous for its deadly critter memes, a fight with a yeti would be an average Tuesday for an Australian
Especially one hyped up on Australium
I did not expect an original script, you truly went beyond with this animation
Plus ultra
I love how unlike other extremely powerful fictional characters, Saxton Hale gets his power simply from being incredibly masculine and, of course, Australian.
Ironically enough, this is actually _underselling_ Saxton's power. A yeti punch to the side wouldn't even make him flinch.

Saxton solos fiction. Change my mind.
