All of or most of this footage was taken on and around where I lived in the early 70s I also worked for the B&LE before going to PISC to become a Marine. The house we lived in was a two story house with a 50 foot tv antenna with a rotary on top I think the house was blue we lived at what was called Osgood or Girard both are close together just outside of Greenville Pa. Our neighbor across the street restored Packard's beautiful cars. Thanks for sharing your video with us. Ed
Outstanding. I lived on the west side of Erie in the late 60s and would take my young son with me when I went train watching at Wallace Junction. At that time there was a Norfolk and Western freight station just west of the grade crossing. I think there was just one run-around siding then. Looks like there is a lot more traffic today. Glad to see it. Thanks for making and posting this video.
Thank you for Watching and Commenting! I appreciate it. I recorded this footage over a course of several years. From a recent visit to Erie and the area along with posts I see on Facebook sadly things have changed at Wallace Junction. The Bessemer on rare occasions goes all the way to the former interchange location with the Norfolk Southern (N&W) at Wallace Junction. Several yard tracks have been removed and this location has been downsized. Norfolk Southern does run mainline trains through the area from Conneaut to Buffalo as before, I'm sure there probably isn't a daily NS local delivering cars to Wallace Junction like in the past. I use to spend a lot of time at this location also years ago, just like with most railroads every thing changes with time. My brother and I had many friends that worked for the N&W and the Bessemer who would let us ride with them in the cabs of the locomotive, things were a lot different 45 years ago compared to now. I have a lot of Great Memories and I am Happy I was able to take photos and videos of how this area and the Erie area use to be! Thanks again for watching and commenting! 👍
Those definitely were the Good Old Days of the Bessemer. I personally don't like seeing railroads being taken over by other railroads. A lot of Great paint schemes went away because of this.
I believe that is correct. I am not 100 percent sure, Gary Indiana sounds familiar. A lot of Great Action took place at Wallace Junction in Girard Pennsylvania.
