I’ve been to the signals seen at 26:50 the lights have been removed and it is now single track but we climbed up to the top. It seems a lot higher from up there. This was really cool to see
This is cool! @6:01 I’m guessing that’s a Nathan horn or a Leslie or something idk and what emd engine no. That the crew is riding just asking a curious question I’m thinking it’s a sd18?
It was an SD9 rebuilt by Greenville shops. They did such a good job with them, even down to the “bug eye” style marker lamps, they are often confused for SD18’s. There were 4 of these chop-nose rebuilds numbered 844-847. Ironically, 3 of them are present with this crew. (844, 846, and 847) and the 845 was sitting at Butler when they went down the running track.
@@ChipMitchell-fs6ni Oh yeah i knew that I bet the shops did a nice job here im guessing and those 9s were the ex DM&IR ones. So im sure B&LE 846 was leading that time i dont know.
Anyone know the engineers' names that were running the 844 and 210 for this trip? This was at the beginning of my "prime" Bessemer chasing years, and these gents definitely scooped me up for rides at North Bessemer when I was a kid. It was like a reunion watching this video. Blown away by this!
The engineer with the salt & pepper hair was my uncle John Kaczoroski. My father also worked as an engineer & yardmaster for the B&LE for 41 years, retiring in 2011.
The engineer was my uncle john, He was very outgoing and a great person. I miss uncle Johnny..
Thank you for sharing.👍
If only I could see this in its heyday once…….thanks for the video

This is great stuff from a great railroad. Thanks for sharing.
What an absolutely awesome video - I'm very grateful to you for recording this cab ride !
What a Jem. I've been waiting for another treasure video for the Bessemer to pop up. Thank you for sharing!
Fantastic! Very cool to see all the lineside structures that are now long gone. Thanks for sharing.
Another thing that makes this a little tough to spot is how much the trees have grown in in the last 40 years...
This is awesome!!!
46:31 is the Ivywood Station before it burned,

The conductor in the orange stocking cap last name i believe was 'Steinbach'?
45:04 Does anyone know what is that alarm's purpose is?
I believe he took his foot off of the dead man switch and after a bit that sets off the alarm
Too make sure the crew is alert and not sleeping pretty much..
