Hello my friend! Thank you for using Yamaha outboard motors! And thank you for showing me the oil change! It's a very interesting video! Thank you for sharing! Have a nice day!
Thanks so much for watching this vid and supporting my channel. It means a lot to me. Currently we are in lock down but I’m hoping to get out in my boat and make some more boating drone type vids. 😃👍
Thanks Tone. Yeh I was surprised how good the old oil still looked. Good to get this little job out of the way too. Thanks for your support mate. Safe travels. 😃👍
I wouldn't ever expect gearbox oil to be black, combustion products cause engine oil to darken over time. That doesn't normally happen with gearbox oil. However, I would be looking for any white misting of the oil as this might indicate water contamination (emulsification) , potentially indicating gearbox seal degradation issues. The oil in your gearbox looked great, no water contamination issues there. Thanks for the video.
Great Job Dennis you did yourself proud here mate. “It’s a very draining job 😆😆”. I loved the few puns you through out in this video mate and I too can make an easy job look hard sometimes. I was surprised how little oil the leg took mate that’s unreal and as you mentioned it was clean as when you drained it out. I’m pretty sure next time when your out in the water you’ll feel that sense of enjoyment that can only come from completing your own maintenance. Have a great weekend mate and keep warm it’s been a cool windy night up here 🍻😬
Thanks mate. Nice to hear from you. Glad you liked the dad jokes(draining experience) and yeh, I like the feeling of having a freshly serviced motor. Bloody freezing down here too right now. Maybe a while until I make the next boating vid. Hows things with you mate? Your back injury come good yet?
When I tried this, something weird happened. Eventually the oil just stopped flowing into the lower unit and started seeping out the edges of the pump where it screws in to the bottle. I could not get any more oil into the motor and it would not seep out of the top section like it's supposed to. I had plenty of oil left in the 32 oz container but it just kept seeping out of the pump itself. I'm kind of getting the feeling that my pump sort of exploded even though it was brand new. Should I just get a new pump and try again? Thank you.
Sounds like the pump in the bottle seized which is unusual. You said you had both top & bottom screws out of the leg. Maybe check the pump when it’s not connected to the leg of the motor. Maybe a blockage or fault with the pump from what I’m thinking.
Hello mate. So many people have so many different answers to your question. I went to a marine shop, told them the motor I had and they advised me which oil to use. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful. I also try to change the gearbox oil every 12 months. My little outboard is now 14 years old and still going well. 😃👍
The instructions that I read on the bottle says to fill it from the bottom using the little pump provided. By doing it this way prevents any air locks in the gear box. 😃

Hey mate where did you get the nozzle attachment for the oil bottle?
I bought them together (bottle and pump nozzle) at the Marine Centre "Hunts Marine". I think all boat stores would sell them.
Hello sir, how to change oil upper unit engine? Kindly show a video please. Thanks.
This is a two stroke motor. No upper engine oil change unlike the 4 stroke models. Sorry I couldn’t help you more.
@@TropicalZooms thank you sir.
Which is best gear oil for out board moter and how much time it will replace.
