Ingredients Required For Making Chickpea & Chicken Curry -
Two cans (15.5 oz each) chickpeas/ 524 gm/3 cups of cooked chickpeas
640 gm/1.4 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs or chicken breast. You can use any meat of your choice but I always like using boneless for this recipe.
    2 large/ 335 gm/0.7 lb potatoes (optional)
    1 dried bay leaf
    4 green cardamoms
1 teaspoon turmeric powder (haldi powder)
2 teaspoons kashmiri red chilli powder or 1 teaspoon regular chilli powder or 2 teaspoon paprika. Please adjust the proportion of chilli powder according to your preference.
    1 tablespoon ground coriander
    1 teaspoon ground cumin
    1 teaspoon garam masala powder
2 teaspoons whole cumin seeds (1 teaspoon to be added to oil in the beginning along with bay leaf and green cardamom + 1 teaspoon heaped to be dry roasted and ground)
    1 large onion
2 teaspoons of finely grated ginger
    1 tablespoon finely grated garlic
    2 cups of hot water.
2 teaspoons salt or as per taste
    1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
    coriander leaves for garnish
sprinkle lemon juice, coriander leaves, chopped onions and sprinkle of roasted ground cumin seeds on top before serving
Serve this with any bread of your choice/naan/roti/poori/paratha

Hi Bumbi, hope you are well. I made this amazing curry today 😍It was absolutely perfect. We really loved it. (recipe 109) I will certainly be making this regularly. So easy to make and very healthy. I served it with basmati rice, Kachumber and your wonderful soft roti. Such a delicious meal 😋Thank you so much. Take care ❤xxx

Made this two evenings ago. Truly delicious. Never tried roasted ground cumin seeds as a garnish before, and that was superb. I made enough for two and that meant one chicken breast filet diced and only half a can of chickpeas. Chunks of potato made it really deluxe. Lovely recipe - super video demonstration - thank you Bumbi - another winner.

I honestly can't tell if it's just me, but I'm always reading a hint of sarcasm in Bumbi's voice during her recipes, like, "you could soak the chickpeas overnight ... but why would you bother doing all that work when canned chickpeas work out just fine?", either way, I love it and these recipes.

@@CurriesWithBumbi I am glad my comment gave you an idea. Another thing I like to use as a meat substitute is banana blossoms. Have you used that to cook before? Banana blossom in a dish looks like shredded meat and is a pretty good tasting vegetable depending on how you season it.

@@CurriesWithBumbi I bought a fresh banana blossom. They are on the pricey side. Yes, it was quite laborious to remove all the leaves and the edible parts. That is why I hesitate to buy another banana blossom. After I retire and I have all the time in the world I will buy banana blossoms again. Lol. Speaking seriously, It might be worth it to make a video of a recipe using banana blossom just to show people something new.

Hahahaha 🤣😂😆. I laughed so much reading your comment. I don’t think anyone will enjoy peeling out and working on each blossom. Though there is a Bengali recipe on it but I have never bought a banana blossom thinking about how much work is behind it 😬

    • @CurriesWithBumbi

I always use olive oil as that is healthier. I use mustard oil for certain curries because being a Bengali I love using mustard oil but it is not easily available except Indian groceries

    • @theprior46
      @theprior46 Год назад

@@CurriesWithBumbi Olive oil is not the healthy option you think it is. Uncooked it's very healthy but heated it becomes the highest trans fatty acid of all the oils and creates body mass fat -proven by experiments here in the UK - Indian curries are best used with less high flavour oils - such as Rapeseed Oil or Ghee which is clarified butter. Not vegetable ghee as that is high saturated fat too. I stopped using Mustard oil because it is seriously unsafe to consume.
