Even though people nag about it being unclear in the comments, it was really clear to me, and people probably won’t have the same colors so they’d have to be creative and pick their own colors :) keep up the good work it was really helpful.
I knew the feathering technique, but for those who didn't it might be helpful to slow down to real time when first showing the technique as it is hard to tell what you are doing when sped up.
Super tutorial! This was really an eye-opener for me. I thought your pace and explanations were just right. Acetone is the name of the solvent in nail polish remover, and it can be purchased much more cheaply at a hardware store in the paint department.
This is the most clear and helpful marker blending techniques video! Haven’t seen so many great techniques at once in any other video. Thank you so much! 😻✨
I'm pretty new to using markers and *this tutorial* has been by far the best and most interesting video I've seen on RUclips about blending with markers! I must check out your channel to see what other videos you have done and for a while, I sort of subscribed to soooo many channels that it became too much to check out every new video that all of the people who I'd subscribed to put out, and so now, I'm very particular about whose channel I subscribe to, so I'll check out your other videos and probably subscribe to you. But yeah, this is such a great video! 👍
Sakuems can you do a swirling method skin demo for us instead then please? (I only mentioned dabbing technique as you say dabbing is used for skin in your video.)
This was perfect to see omg I just finished a mermaid piece and felt something missing from the background, but after seeing the nail polish remover tip I know how to spruce it up! Thank you! 💕
You should do another one where you use the exact same 4 or 5 colors for each technique, so we can really see the difference between the techniques and not just between the colors.
I don't think it would make a big difference, the techniques are working with all colors but it makes more sense to use some for specific areas like the dabbing technique with pastel rainbow colors would be interesting but it would also be quite a mess to not overlap too many colors so you avoid being muddy. Instead of making a new video that would be pretty redundant, I might do an actual artwork process that show the techniques in depth ^^
I'm not a beginner by any means but I still learned from this! I'm primarily an animal artist so I do a lot of dabbing to create fur textures, though I never had a name for it before.
to blend green with purple you need a blue violet and a blue green in between. It also depends on the saturation level, the brightness of the color and if they are really different, like a light green and a dark purple. I could help you more if you named colors :)
It depends on the technique, most of them would work better if the ink is still wet, except for the the dabbing technique that can be done with dry ink
I'm mixing copics and promarkers, mainly because of copics ridiculous prices, (even though promarkers aren't cheap either) second because promarkers basic colors are more vibrant, but they don't have the skin tones and muted tones copic does; oh, is the ink in the ciaos any different from the sketch?
@@Sakuems than how come the ciaos are recommended for beginners with alcohol markers? Cause I've got a lot of sketch colors but they're so expensive, I'm well into alcohol marker medium so I want markers with the best colors, and I was thinking of getting some ciaos because they're more affordable
they are recommended precisely because they are cheaper and imo easier to handle. Since the ink is the same, buying all ciaos then extra colors as sketches is a lot cheaper. I started with other brands but when I went into copic I bought 30 ciaos and extended my collection until I bought the 2 ciaos set 144 markers and then graduallly bought new colors as ciaos if available and only purchased sketches for other colors.
Ciaos are still expensive yes but remember that Copics are the only markers you can refill, and with a refill you can get up to 12 ciaos markers. I started working with markers with the old letraset Trias that didn't have a brush tip, for about 5 years so you can practice with those and still do good things but if you're into characters, a brush tip is really a good thing to consider. I know there's some cheaper alternatives on dickblick but I can't try them you have to be in USA or canada. Promarkers are nice, they do brushmarkers as well, they are great.
for markers you shouldn't use watercolor paper on its own, it's going to use too much ink. You should pick cardstock or bristol board or any smooth paper. Layout or paper labelled as marker paper or ilustration paper is working nice too. I personnaly use the brand called Perfect coloring paper and it's available on amazon.
You say in that order it won't, which order will it I'm new to copic. I'm not bothered about the staining if it doesn't ruin the pen but I'm courius. Thank you
Nice video! But do you mind blending with other markers besides Copic, because they blend pretty easily as it is. But it's more difficult with other markers. Thanks!
I'm using the paper called "perfect coloring paper" :) it's available on amazon, I have tried many other options but this one gave the best results for my style at least.
Hi Haley ! I'm not familiar with Ohuhu markers since I didn't try them but if they have a brush tip you should be able to blend them well, although quite frankly I tired off brand copic with brush tips (like 3 others brands) and they don't perform nearly as good as copic markers. Sometimes the brush is too thick; too soft, too hard and so on. I would encourage you to try at least a few other brands to see if the issue is the tool or your technique :)
you have to be careful with the technique it's better to work from dark to light, you grab color from a dark marker. try the other way as well, sometimes it works better but you do have to use the marker you transferred ink to, fully, until it gets back to its original shade. If you don't do that you will stain the nib. It's not the technique I like the most but I do use it with certain shades that are too different.
The thing I have with my copics is that I keep forgetting that when the ink dries it dries lighter and blends into other colors and the paper more, so I can't really get an idea of what my art will look like fully colored. :C
Ok but ur not saying what markers you keep switching to. U keep just saying your using lights and darks but your forgetting that, each specific color your using and where your using it and which colors are going on top of other colors, these are all important things when trying to learn blending. I wish u would have slowed this down and actually explained the special colors your using on top of other colors and when to switch off.
I use them in order that I gave in the description. I always switch between the closest color or most similar color. That's why it's important to pick them before doing the shading. I do have a video about picking colors on my channel, this was more of coloring technique :)
She was pretty clear about it, also, I don’t think you’d have the exact same colors, I don’t either. I followed along pretty well while choosing my own colors. This is legit one of the best blending tutorials I’ve seen. And hate to be that person since I’m not english, but it’s you’re*
thanks ! I have to get a rythm in the video, nobody will watch an hour long tutorial. Advanced technique definitely requires time and patience, I could do a much more detailed tutorial but it's taking a long time to make videos and youtube isn't a part of my job currently, I don't have the time to work on tutorials.
Oui ! J'y réfléchis. J'ai quelques vidéos que je vais traduire enfin refaire la voix off en français. Je sais pas encore si je les mets sur ma chaîne ici ou une autre
Your just talking and coloring too fast. You’re not telling us what you’re doing or going slow enough to teach. You’re just coloring really fast and not explaining the technique. You’re just talking about what we can use the technique with but you’re not talking about the technique itself. Slow down and actually teach
This was a little hard to understand. Sorry. You're descriptions were just confusing. If I didkt already know these techniques I would be lost. For the feathering technique I think the word you were looking for was flick. You flick the marker at the end.
I'm French so English isn't my native language, I'm trying my best to explain a very technical approach with the language barrier. Most people understood what I was going for and there's the visual that helps so I hope it was enough to help others. Yes you flick the marker, I heard that word before but I couldn't think about it when I recorded the video.
Thank You And May God Bless You Your Family Friends Us All! ❤️✝️❤️😁

The swirling technique was my favorite, the colors you used were so pretty
This was super helpful, I had no idea about the nib to nib technique. That's going to be so helpful!!!
Omg I just bought a copic 36b set and I cant wait to use them while watching your tutorial !!!!!😁😁😁
Thank you SO much for this! Cannot even describe how useful it was!!
Hi Emily, would you do a skin tutorial using the dabbing technique?
You can but the swirling method works best on this
Sakuems can you do a swirling method skin demo for us instead then please? (I only mentioned dabbing technique as you say dabbing is used for skin in your video.)
dabbing is used for a bit of texturing specially for freckles. But honestly for skin, I mix the 3 methods, feathering, swirling and dabbing
I use the feathering technique for the hair!
it's the best technique for hair ^^
I'm getting copic markers tomorrow so I decided to do some research, found your video, great job!!
This really helped me out. Thank you THANK YOU!
You're welcome!

Great video! I found it very informative and I will definitely try the techniques (I am a new Copic user) so thank you!
Thank you ! :D Really nice to know you enjoyed it ^^
This is a really good video. The methods of blending used in it gave me ideas on what to do for mine later.
Thank you, I learned a lot from this video.
Thanks heaps! I traditionally use pencils but found that this works also with my mepxy markers, love your vids, subbed
I’ll be getting copic markers soon and this video is very informative, thanks!

I think nib to nib works very well when you want a light color that you don't have :D
it does yeah ! for any markers if they are a bit too different it's a way to create the "in between" shade :)
Dabbing technique look like it works for trees or background grass or something like that
thank you! It helps me a lot! nwn

I have a question, can you achieve feathering without the brush nib? (asking this because, I recently bought an alternative to copic markers)
I think it’s a bit harder since the brush tip is really soft, what markers do you use and what kind if brush do they have?
Can the markers dry or do you have to work fast while they are still wet?
It depends on the technique, most of them would work better if the ink is still wet, except for the the dabbing technique that can be done with dry ink

Speaking from experience using watercolor paper is rough and can ruin your markers
So, if you blend a very light color with a dark color, the brush won't get stained, will it?
No in that order it won't
