This is perfect timing. I've literally just gotten into alcohol markers and bought all the Ohuhu sets. When I went in, I went in all the way. This is incredibly helpful.
I'm glad i can help!
Wait how can i perfectly relate

I never would have thought to prime the surface first. What a great idea!
It was my first time using these markers and I tried to blend the colours directly, and it didn't turn out so well. Glad I finally figured out that priming the paper worked better 😂
woah, honestly the primer technique and palette blending technique are officially my favorite techniques for blending, thank you so much for this video!
You're so welcome!
Who else gets all happy when he sees a video from Lindsay? 😁 I am with my coffee and ready to enjoy
They make my day!
@@sandradanen8738 me too! 😊
Thank you! I'd love to see a video using water based blender markers too. I have the Tombow and I can't figure out the point of the blender marker!
I wonder if you could use a paint brush with water and get the same effect as the blender does here? Maybe even a fillable brush. It would be a fun experiment to try. I’ve used my alcohol blender over my water based tombows while the marker is still wet and it seems to work much the same as with my alcohol markers. But water would be more economical, if it works.
I really enjoyed this video! And I learned sooo much about using my colorless blender alcohol marker properly!!! This has been very helpful!!! BUT I haven’t been able to figure out the point of the blender marker using my Tombow markers. So another tutorial video would be great to watch regarding how to use my water based blender markers properly!!!
When I first got into alcohol markers and I bought a three pack of Art n Fly colorless blenders, I tried blending alcohol markers together, and lo and behold, it’s not for blending alcohol markers, haha! They are useful for pushing alcohol ink around the paper, and producing certain effects with the ink.
EDIT
Lindsay the way you blended the yellow and orange using the colorless blender as a base was genius. I would never have thought to do that!
What a great video!! Thank you!!
This is a great tutorial. I only knew about 10% of what you demonstrated. I will be saving this to my playlist. Thank you
I really needed this! I was gifted a full set of copics and was a bit intimidated. This video has given me new found confidence. That’s what I love about you Lindsay! 🙏🏻❤️
Great gift! Happy coloring!
Wow Lindsay, I've never seen these tips. Thanks so much for your demo and explanation.
I have been avoiding watching your videos that aren't watercolor. Then I got wc pencil now I want markers. Love you and your family big air hug for Sara. Stay safe 😘
About two years ago I was looking for a refill for a ballpoint pen, somehow landed here, now have over 60 watercolors. Then I signed up for Lindsay's drawing class, and now have graphite and charcoal collection, with 64 pastels in the mail to me as we speak lol. And I hadn't done anything arty since 8th grade, and that was forced on me lol
THANK YOU so much for this Lindsay! I just tried alcohol markers a few days ago and told my husband it’s the first medium I’ve found that wasn’t for me. I didn’t have fun with it. I was making some of the mistakes you mentioned. Now I’m ready to try again.
That palette blending worked surprisingly well. I'm impressed. The erasing tip!
I'm someone who got a big pack of Sharpies and then gave up on alcohol markers because they just wouldn't blend well. The palette blending technique is awesome! The results are great. Much better than purchasing the entire 358 set of Copics.
Copics is very expensive. I also ordered Ohuhu, it looks good for that price
"Colorful markers are a way to Express your deepest colors you love"-Lynn.
Another great video Lindsay, love the rich colors🎨❤🌹👍🏻
Your tutorial is the first tutorial I completely listen to! I love that you take begginers in consideration.
You explain very well, the information is detailed and I looooooved it! How to blend, lighten, how to do techniques and patterns.. I learned a lot without getting bored.
Thank u so much! ♡
Thank you!
Great demonstration! I’m a newbie with markers and look forward to trying these tips out. So happy to have found your channel. Thank you for sharing ☺️
Thank you for taking the time to show us the right and wrong way to use these blenders. I don't have any of these.
7:15 *Ohhhhh!* I just never used mine. It was covid gift for STILL-furloughed unemployed me. I didn't wanna mess it up! Thank you for this whole video! (I used some of those brush markers for decent-enough calligraphy! But no blending or anything. I don't understand the marker thing. Yet.) ❤️️
Using the palette method and picking up the ink into the blender is freaking GENIUS!! It makes the absolute smoothest gradients
Totally agree!
SOOO valuable, Lindsay! Thank you so much. Your ability to teach is unsurpassed.💟
Wow, thanks so much!
I agree, God blessed Lindsay with knack for teaching. Take care. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
You are fabulous!!!
I am clumsy and I have found that if I really need to saturate an area it helps to line it with masking fluid. Just draw a fine line of the fluid just outside of the area, let it dry and that should really help with the color bleeding.
It didn't year the cardstock?
@@thefrugalcrafter Depends. If it's good thick cardstock then it seems to do okay. And doing a really super thin layer of fluid as well.
Thanks for another excellent video. I haven't used my alcohol markers much due to blending frustration (sounds like a medical condition).Anyway, this is very helpful and yes, please do a video on water-based marker blending.
This was great! I’d love to see how to use the water based blender markers. I got a few sets of Tombow dual brush pens, so now I have all these blenders and no use for them.
Like you Lindsay a lot and enjoy your videos. Thank you for the effort you put into the videos.
This is a great video, reminds me that it was your alcohol marker videos that brought me to you! I love the textures. I found that texturing with lighter analogous pastels rather than the colorless blender is sometimes interesting too, like dark blue with pastel purple cross-hatching or whatever. I'm pretty sure that whatever I've done creatively with markers started in some way with your cool ideas. So thank you!
This is THE most helpful video on alcohol marker blending!! Thank you!
And yes! Always happy to be able to watch Lindsey with my morning coffee!
After watching this I think I’ll give that Ohuhu set I got as a gift over a year ago another try. I tried them one time and was so discouraged I haven’t used them since. This is a must for newbies like me!
Alcohol markers have the steepest learning curve of any medium I have tried so don't get discouraged. It takes practise
I know Im like 2 years late but I just wanted to thank you for posting this. Im new to colouring so I never understood how to get the blending effect traditionally instead of digitally. I just cant afford a drawing tablet ( am saving up for one ) but I dont want to lose what I have learned through traditional art. This definitely makes sense now. Thank you so much for keeping this up!
😃WOW!!!! Now I know what to do with that colorless blender thing that used to take up space!!!!!
I have been watching several of those spice racks on Ebay for a while and today got one for $5 plus shipping. I plan to put all of my small sets in it. I keep my Prismacolor and Derwent pencils all together but have some small sets such as erasable and skintone. So excited. It matches the toilet topper I repurposed on its side to hold my alcohol markers.
This is super interesting. Not at all my medium, but I always enjoy these videos anyway - I'm learning a ton about stuff I'd never even consider using, and more knowledge is always good 👍
THANK YOU. This really helped me learn how to use them better! I’ll say this again, thank you very much!
Thank you for a truly riveting video ! Blender markers have Been a mystery!
The palette blending just... Blew my mind
Wow I’m just 4minutes in this is a revelation always have trouble blending different colour/shades. Thanks so much for posting.🤠
Happy to help!
Wow ! Wow ! Wow !
Thank you for sharing all your information from your years of experience .
Thanks for all these tips, the colourless blender reminds me a little of using clean water with water paints to bring out highlights. Very helpful thank you again.
Very interesting, thanks Lindsay.
Such fantastic tips. I have always struggled with the colourless markers and shall give all of these tips ago. Thank you Lindsay
Thank you, Lindsay! I was having problems with my alcohol markers and I stopped using them. Now I have something new to practice. Great video! Tfs.
What an awesome video! I never knew you could use a colourless marker blender in so many ways. So thank you for sharing these tips with us!
You are so welcome!
Thank you so much for this video!! I have so much trouble blending with alcohol markers! I never seem to have all the right colors for a smooth blend & had no clue how to use the blender! I have learned so much from your video!
I am learning. I felt i can do it. Love the way you explain and show me the process slowly. Others videos are too techs or skilled that i felt sooooo overwhelming because there is no way i get those results. Thanks Ms. Lindsay!
Thank you,
Lindsey. I never figured out how to use the included colorless blender. I bought a gray scale set just for value study practice so it wasn’t really necessary. Now I can do more!
I’ve been frustrated with my markers, this is so helpful! Thanks Lindsay!
Im so glad!
O my gosh Lindsay, this video was so helpful! I have some sharpies and some other assorted alcohol markers, thank you for clearly explaining how to use them and the blender.
wow thank you for sharing this video I learnt so much about colorless blenders that I didn't know. I am excited to try it out now. I have been following and watching your video for few years now I have learnt so much from you, you have truly taken a lot of fears I had when it comes to art away. you make it seem so easy and it is once i give it a try.
Thank you for this Lindsay! I’ve still got plenty to learn with markers and this was very informative!
Lindsay, this is one of THE most useful videos ever! Thank you so much. I had to share this with my sister (I rarely share videos) because of how awesome it is. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Thanks!
Yes would love to see a video on colorless water based marker
Will do!
This was SO helpful! I’d love a video on water colorless blenders. Thanks Lindsay!
Best Tutorial ever!!
Another great video. I learned a lot. Can't wait to try some of these techniques. You rock!!! Thank you 💕
Oh wow, thank you so much for sharing, some new tricks to try blending technique 4 specifically. I learn loads from you xxx
These are wonderful examples! It would be so good to watch before getting into alcohol markers! Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you for the wonderful demo! I just bought a couple small sets of 24 and a colorless blender. You’ve given me the information I need before even beginning. 😊
I really needed this! Thank you so much! 💓
Great information, Thank you! ❤️
I just bought the 216 set of Ohuhus so thank you very much for this thorough explanation!
Thank you. Your voice is nice, the instructions are quick and clear, and it works! You just showed me why I was having the problem I kept having. I didn’t understand why the light colors were bleaching out my darks. Because I was moving backwards. Thanxx a million
I learned so much Lindsay! Thank you for sharing.
thanks lindsay, super helpful! I used to be a teacher and can tell you are an experienced instructor. wonderful pace and explainations.
Glad it was helpful!
This video is one to watch when I’m using my alcohol marker...I don’t use them as much as my other craft supplies. Lindsey, thanks for this one! I keep forgetting 🙃
You're welcome!
I recently bought my first set of ohuhu markers (100 bullet) and went looking for some blending tips. (I have 2 other sets, one is really nice but limited.) I've used the colorless blender to erase and make patterns, but I didn't know about the blending to white!!!! Or the priming!!! You always have the best information!!!! Thanks so much for sharing this ❤❤❤!!
Oooooo great video, lots of helpful tips. Thanks for sharing♥️
Now I can fool around with my little stamped images in a more intelligent way! This is outstanding!
Wow you jus made the best thing since sliced bread here. Ty sooooo much! 🍞
Thanks for all the great tips. I learned so much about blending markers from this.
Great tips, Lindsay! Thanks for sharing.
I discovered that sometimes you can use a colorless blender to "erase" or push back a lot of the color when your markers bleed out of the lines. (HA! Finishes watching the video after I wrote this comment and you actually covered that.)
I remember using white crayons to "prime" for other colors as a kid. We figure things out, don't we?! 🙂
Ooo, the palette blending is gorgeous and so smooth and even. You can't see any blend/transition lines at all and that's way better than tip-to-tip marker blends.
These tips are total game changers and help make alcohol markers much more versatile. Thanks so much again!
Thank you so much for this tutorial on the blender pen...I learned several new techniques!
Another informative and valuable video. I bought the Arrtx Oros alcohol Sketch Markers you talked about and I am having so much fun. I have some other alcohol markers and they work well together. Since I am new to alcohol markers I appreciate this video. Stay healthy and crafty hugs to you!🤗
Thanks! I've been coloring with alcohol markers a lot this winter & picked up some great tips today.
Thanks Lindsay, I always appreciate your tips and tricks videos. I need all the help I can get. Definitely going into my likes folder. I've gotta be careful that I don't lose all of other videos of yours in my likes folder. Thanks for sharing. Take care. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
This is very useful information! Thanks Lindsay! I will try my markers again 😊
Awesome techniques. She makes it look so easy.
This was SO HELPFUL! Thank you so much for sharing your expertise!
Thanks for showing us how to blend with a colorless marker. Some of this i didn't know like the textures and other things. But I just got my third set of markers the ohuhu 168 set im going to be doing some coloring with them soon. I love watching your videos they are very informative.
I like to watch you color. Never knew about all this. Appreciate your sharing these techniques. Not knowing anything about markers I have always thought they use a lot of ink. I really do like the look of marker art. Maybe I'll try. Thanks
This was so helpful! TY! Can’t wait to try these techniques.
I just wanted to thank you so much for this video. I am new to alcohol markers and used the "blending marker" just as you showed.
I will try the correct way now, and all of the options you gave.
Happy to help!
Thank you soooo much I was afraid it wasn’t an easy answer when I saw how long the video was but actually watching all the way through was beyond helpful and was soooo surprised at all the ways to blend!!! Thank you soooo much!!!
Before I had any idea what I was doing, I found out that I could make really neat clouds on a dark sky by “erasing” them out with the colorless blender. Looks really cool.
This video has been so very helpful thank you. I bought a blender and made exactly those mistakes. Watching your videos is really helping me to make the most of my alcohol markers thank you. I found the flooding the image with the blender really useful today as it helped me get the best out of a marker that was seemingly drying up but filled the image perfectly due to the blender flooding first.
Thanks, as always some great information to put to use and improve techniques.
Loved loved watching this video as there is so much information in there. Your videos are always packed with brilliant tips and tricks!!
Thanks Lindsey great demonstration!
Thank you Lindsay. That was very thorough and informative.
It's like doing wet on wet in watercolor! 😄🤗🧑🎨💖
I swear, you are a lifesaver! I was looking for how to use these colorless blenders and I am so glad I finally found your channel!
You got one new subscriber😊
This is a perfect guide! Thank you so much!
Awesome tips, I learned the eraser trick by trying to blend colors 😀 Like the palette blending.
Thank you for these awesom tips. Have to grab my oldy markers now....:)
Lindsay thank you so much for this !!!!!
This video is so helpful. Thank you so much!
Thank you for this very helpful video. I would love to see more videos like this one.
This was fun even though I already know most of this, I'd love to see other blending methods.
This was so helpful Lindsay! Thank you!
Such an excellent tutorial!
Oh my gosh this is so helpful! Thank you 🙏
