You are so super awesome Sandy! Good for Sketchmarker and OLO for sending you their markers - your hex charts are INVALUABLE - anyone thinking about them go buy them right now. I refer to my Copic hex chart all the time (it was sent to me years ago filled out by a lovely subscriber - but I will be purchasing another to fill out myself as mine is now old and prolly a bit faded and needs a refresh). All your other charts are awesome too. SO MUCH AWESOME RESOURCES. YOU ARE AMAZING!

Sandy, thank you for doing this comparison video. I have many (but not all) Copic markers and do find myself looking for the color I don't have (and maybe doesn't even exist in the Copic line). I especially appreciated your honesty in your green test that maybe we don't need as many greens as we think we do. to get the results we are looking for. My eye is not as discerning in figuring out which color is needed to make the one I am needing. Like so many things, I just need to practice more. Thank you for all your encouragement and your example of simply trying new things. You're such an inspiration!!

I like that the newer marker brands seem to have the same brush nib as Copics, since that is one of the aspects that made me by Copics in the first place. I might just fill in my Copics set (I have 64 colors) with the Sketchmarkers. Thanks for all the great info!

I don't have room for a full set of AI markers, regardless of how much I want them. I have a set of 48 from Ohuhu and I only really use them for making neurographic art. I recently bought Copic refills for AI art and they are the smoothest, most beautiful inks, so I'm sure the actual markers are a dream to work with.

I bought your Copic charts a few years ago. I bought the full set of OLO brush tip markers when they came out, but I'm finding that the lids are way, WAY too difficult for me to open and close. It makes me lean toward using the Copics instead, even though I really prefer the free flowing ink technology of the OLO.

    Hi Sandy,
Thank you for this video. I had been wanting to get a complete set of GOOD alcohol markers for a while but hesitating about paying so much for the Copics. Waiting a couple of years out comes OLO markers so I bought the complete set they have so far to add to them down the road. As you stated they are limited on colors at this time but hopefully that will change down the road. Your videos are going to be VERY HELPFUL in how to use colors to come up with colors I don’t have. I would really like it if you did this with Ohuhu, especially the Kaala series markers. Many online artists are saying great things about them and they are certainly more reasonable than any of these markers. I hope you consider it. Thank you for all of the wonderful content you create.

Unfortunately I'm an artist and I can't afford to buy all the brands just because others want me to. And frankly, I am not finding the higher cost brands to be very good, and I can't fathom cheap Ohuhu will be either. :(

I love your videos and learn so much about color from them. I have over 200 Copic Sketch Markers and have recently discovered why some of them dry out and refilling does not help for long. I learned that the inside of the caps get a very thin crack in them and render the marker useless. Since the price point if pretty high, I am getting very discouraged about continuing to replace them. Have you experienced this issue? Would it be better to use the Ciao Marker instead? At my wits end!!! I love my copics. Thank you for any advise!

@@SandyAllnock1 Thank you for the quick reply! The cracks are very hard to see, maybe next time you fill your yg67 or rv02 give the caps an alcohol bath and clean them really well. Then check for the very thin crack line. For now I'm trying the Ciao markers if they have the same color because the design of the cap is different.

I've never used alcohol markers and I really enjoyed your video. I do have a couple of questions: do any of the marker manufacturers indicate a lightfastness rating for their markers? Can/should you mix types of markers? e.g. Copic and Olo in the same painting. Thank you for this.
