Hey man! I just wanted to thank you. Without your videos, I wasn't able to fix my RGB and I didn't realize my fans were backwards as well. I got the model from Costco. It does have the wiring.
im happy you made this video because i thought the same thing, i wasnt sure if it was supposed to be designed like that or not but i definitely didnt think so. flipping mine around now haha
These machines have fantastic air flow/cooling. That’s pretty weird you had a backwards fan. I bought one of these over an MSI just because it has a reputation for staying cool while heavy gaming.
My legion tower 5 has 2 fans in the front, one mid and one on the backside like yours, but I also have two on top. The front one of top feels cold, while the back one on top feels hot. In don’t know if there a direction problem. How does the air have to flow in this case🧐
@@TrueKadett sounds like yours is quite the upgrade from mine I would assume that air flow should go in the front and out the top and back thus the one in the front on the top would probably run cooler because mostly electronics are not near that section
Part of the problem in that case is restricted airflow. The front panel is mostly closed off except for the small side vent and there is no ventilation in the top. So, intake of cool air is significantly restricted. Some of the Lenovo cases have a mesh front panel and mesh top panel which would be much better. You might be able to transfer the components into another case, say a Lian Li Lancool-215 mesh, inexpensive, but quality built case with excellent airflow. The be quiet 500DX is also a good, but inexpensive case with good airflow. Even with the fans pointing as they should in the front, the airflow will be restricted.
So i am new to the channel and to upgrading my pc so this was very helpful, i was just wondering what fan you are using for what i believe is your cpu cooler? ( the big chonky one in the middle lol). my pc came with this little flat one which i am looking to upgrade into the one you have installed. i would appreciate it if someone could tell me what dan that is and if there is a specific way i need to install it!
I have the lower end 10400 model from costco. So far, everything I can tell, its got all the controllers the higher end models have. I only had a single fan on the front (facing the wrong way too). I added a second fan, both blowing in now, and made a huge improvement. Cracking open the back panel, I found the RGB controller, with 4 open ports. Im assuming they all work if I wanted to add the RGB fans...(which I dont). Mine just has the single back RGB fan, which is all I need. Thanks for the video thou...props to sharing the fix.
Same I have the 10400F,GTX 1660 super model and it has 1 fan that is facing the wrong way I fixed it now and I get better airflow But I wish to have one more fan on top but for now the 1 fan is doing fine and is bringing cold air into the pc very fine. I will upgrade to better ones in couple of months in anyway
Nice Video bro, I think all these dang things shipped with that fan turned around, I ended up replacing both fronts with a single CoolerMaster Masterfan sf240p argb and it does even better then stock, I have the I5 Costco one so we get the rather stock CPU cooler so recently tore mine apart and installed a Scythe Katana 5 cooler on it and it runs like a dream, anyway fantastic video and good on you for getting the info out to the Legion Community.
The fans definitely ramp up and you can hear them. But I have never noticed them enough to feel like they're ruining the video or any audio I may be recording. Temperatures rise but maintain a safe temp
@@GrantButler 120 / 5000 Risultati della traduzione In your opinion as temperatures and fan noise, better the lenovo legion t5 or the msi meg trident with the 3070? Thank you.
@Grant Butler Hey! Thank you so much for the videos that you have done. I have been down the rabbit hole of what PC to purchase and I think I have decided to go with this Lenovo (I have a ThinkPad laptop and have always liked Lenovo's customer support). I had a question about the internals. Can the parts be interchanged with different ones if desired? I was thinking about things like replacing the power supply if it breaks later don the road or adding more storage/more RAM. Is that possible to do with this case/PC? For background, I've noticed companies such as Dell include components that if it breaks it NEEDS to be replaced with DELL power supply and not just a generic one you can buy at best buy. Hope you find time to read this and thanks again for all your videos! They are extremely helpful!
Those are great questions! It is definitely upgradable. Check out this video. ruclips.net/video/pJjBFEaKW8M/видео.html You'll get a look at all the internal components and its upgradablility. Aside from the case, everything else was actually name brands of other brands, like Intel, Samsung, & western digital. I definitely plan on upgrading things on here as time goes, and prices come down.

Does yours make a buzzing sort of noise? It does it when I run play rainbow six and I think it’s coil whine, which is harmless but I want to make sure.
@@GrantButler ok, it became quieter when I dropped from ultra graphics to high, I think I’m just noticing these sounds because it’s up on my desk and not under it anymore
I was thinking the same thing. That's where they were when I got this machine. I've seen a lot of conflicting info. Some say, "it doesn't matter, modern motherboards are smart enough for it to work nonmatter what" others say, "fill slot 1 & 2 first" and some say, "fill slot 1 & 3 first" and even 2 & 4. I haven't had any problems with them where they are right now, and would need to look into it more, and maybe even dig into the manual that would go to this motherboard. Where it hasn't caused an issue, I'm not really worried about it.
When I first got my pre build it didn't want to open and it got that :( face on the screen message but when I reset its all fine just wanna ask is that OK?
I don't have this issue but thank you for the video. Now I know how to get to my front fans if I have to in the future. I just bought my LEGION from Costco; all is good!
I also am really curious about how to add RAM. I heard that not we can't just buy any RAM, it has to be through Lenovo? Is this true? My new Legion is getting delivered later this week and I hoped to upgrade the RAM asap but I have no idea with what brand, or if I even can... I also wondered what kind of SSD and HDD we can add? Can I add my Barracuda from BestBuy or do I need something different. Thank you for any advice! I'm new to PCs... clearly...
Thats not true. Lenovo gets their ram from Samsung, but you can add any ram you want. The things you want to watch our for is the RAM speed. If you get anything less than 3000 MHz it'll slow down the other two RAM you already have, or be slower over all. You can use any HDD you also have 1 extra m.2 ssd slot that is open. Brand won't matter. Just make sure you're getting something that is a quality you're happy with. If you're hoping to add a ssd in the HDD tray, you'll need an adapter tray. I'll get links for you.
HDD (you can use what ever you want I used this): amzn.to/3yCx6vy RAM I recommend(get whatevercapacity you want): amzn.to/2SrqQpy SSD I recommend (you can get what ever you want here): amzn.to/3bS66hK SSD adapter tray I recommend: amzn.to/3uly3F9 M.2 SSD I recommend (this type is faster than an HDD or 2.5 in SSD): amzn.to/3hZcQxY
@@GrantButler Oh my gosh, thank you so much. That is already so much more helpful than what I could do up online or answers I got on reddit. Thank you, you've helped me worry less and gave me perfect options!
I don't know either. This machine has the Intel B460 motherboard. If you look up the specs on that you might be able to cross-reference that to the case that you want to put it in to see if it will fit.

Great video. The rgb port for the cpu fan is on a separate mini board behind the sold black side on the top left hand side. Mine came with a basic fan even though I paid for the top spec. Pretty annoying
Question i just got the newer model 26amr5. Issit just me or does the machine make alot of noise? For a simple game as path of exile the fans already kick in and personally find it a lot of noise. Hows that with this desktop?
My fans ramp up when I go into games too. I wouldn't call it a lot of noise though. I think its the "Game Mode" that the your graphics card has or maybe its the Lenovo Vantage app controlling it, doing that.

My bottom fan is backwards as well and I will be fixing it in the next day or so. I am going to have my computer building buddies take a look to see if we can somehow add the second RBG fan
Yes and no. Honestly, of you just took of the front panel, and carefully un-routed the wire from the front panel light, that would increase air flow substantially!
It also depends on how hard you're pushing your system, and how much better performance you might get from cooler temperatures, and how much that performance difference is worth to you.
Yes I did change the direction of the front fan. While playing apex or ffxv my gpu rises to 60ish degrees although it's okay I'm worries that I'm stressing my whole build (same as you tempered glass becomes hot). As if the hot air was stuck in my case. P.S I just cleaned my pc
Ahhhh yes I thought about that too but I didn't know if it was a good idea lol. I guess removing dust and getting more air would be easier in this case. Thanks!
For the price, yes. If you have the money I'd recommend the i9 model, but would recommend you stay away from the i5 one because it's super downgrade. I’m very confused now I actually just had a Lenovo tech come to my home to swap the fans place and he told me one facing inward and the other facing outward is correct... while the rep On the phone said both should be inward 🤦🏽♂️
I'm not sure, you might be able to download a program for that. But I've never looked into that kind of stuff before. Lowering the fan speed when the processors are getting hot is not a great idea.
I have two of these towers. On the older one my fan was the same way. On the newer version they fixed the fan direction but mine only had one screw holding the bottom fan in so it was dangling from the factory. It seems like no matter what Lenovo tower you get you are going to have to fix the fan. Otherwise great pc for the price. I bought one 4 months old off craigslist for $600 that already has 16gb of ram. Now they retail for $950.

I flipped my fan few months ago and kept on repositioning it and it was making noise on idle compared to someone else’s which is super quiet without flipping the fan.

What were your temperatures running at? Did you do all the fan changing for nothing? I would run some benchmarks and see what the temperature is at to see if it's properly cooling in the first place. I'm not an expert on cooling but maybe there's a reason one was going the opposite way. Hot air rises right? The fan higher up was pulling air in while the fan below was pushing it out because hot air rises. What were your temperatures before and after changing the direction of the fan? Did it make a difference in temperature?
So, I never checked the Temps, but the machine would turn the fans up really high while gaming, and my frame rate got down to less than 1 fps. I no longer have that problem. Also if you look at the front cover of the machine the upper fan shares its intake area with the lower fan meaning the lower fan is just blowing hot air back into the machine. Do what ever you want. This is what worked for me.
@@GrantButler yep my bad. I'm currently looking at this system which seems to be sold out everywhere including lenovo's site but I'm looking at the legion Tower 5 AMD gaming desktop. Instead of the i7 it has the very similar performing Ryzen 7 3700x.I was actually looking at the Costco deal they have coming up for the Dell 8940 but the cooling in that looks horrible and not really upgradable at all compared to what comparably seems beautiful setup of the Lenovo. I know the I-5 systems have been very popular at around $800 or so but I'm looking for a little more power so I'm trying to grab that Ryzen 7 3700x model. I'll definitely be checking which way the fan is going. Hopefully it's correct. I figured for about $200 less than the i7 The benchmark results are very interesting. It seems the i7 gets slightly better frames per second if you really need that many extra frames while gaming but for things like video encoding or other productivity type multicore use the ryzen seems to do better. Honestly it's a toss-up between the chips because they are both so good. These Lenovo systems I think are so popular just because all of the 12-year-old gamers out there love the see-through side panel with all the pretty lights. Also help sell the product because they literally put the word gaming in the name of the product. Pretty sweet rig though for pre-built especially. Kind of rare to get this level of quality with a pre-built even if the motherboard they use isn't exactly top-notch it's certainly good enough to serve the purpose.

120mm
@@GrantButler thx a lot man💪
Does that explain the noisy gpu fan while running games? I will definitely have to check out the fan on mine! Thanks!
Yes & no. It will definitely help
If the GPU is getting too hot, even from another source, then sort of yes.
Same I have the 10400F,GTX 1660 super model and it has 1 fan that is facing the wrong way I fixed it now and I get better airflow
But I wish to have one more fan on top but for now the 1 fan is doing fine and is bringing cold air into the pc very fine. I will upgrade to better ones in couple of months in anyway

@@GrantButler yes but it still requires alot of force and i dont want to break the panel

Check out this video. ruclips.net/video/pJjBFEaKW8M/видео.html

Ain't your ramsticks in the wrong slots? In most mobo you need to put them in nr 2+4. My T5 b550 has them in those 2.

HDD (you can use what ever you want I used this): amzn.to/3yCx6vy
RAM I recommend(get whatevercapacity you want): amzn.to/2SrqQpy
SSD I recommend (you can get what ever you want here): amzn.to/3bS66hK

I'm not sure, you might be able to download a program for that. But I've never looked into that kind of stuff before. Lowering the fan speed when the processors are getting hot is not a great idea.
@@GrantButler Oh ok thank you
System Fans and CPU cooler upgrade ruclips.net/video/xW1GqzAv3DY/видео.html
I have two of these towers. On the older one my fan was the same way. On the newer version they fixed the fan direction but mine only had one screw holding the bottom fan in so it was dangling from the factory. It seems like no matter what Lenovo tower you get you are going to have to fix the fan. Otherwise great pc for the price. I bought one 4 months old off craigslist for $600 that already has 16gb of ram. Now they retail for $950.
Nicely done!
Is anyone having trouble with the fan of the Graphic card on this pc?
Not that I'm aware of. Are you having issues?
Or are you talking about the RGB lights? If so, yes, watch this video ruclips.net/video/6LtBWGsJB0k/видео.html
I have a Legion T530 with a GTX 1660 and after one year of use the fan on my graphic card went bad,had to send it in for repairs, they replaced the card on warranty. So yep I had some problems with the graphics card.
Just wondering, what is your gpu idle temp currently?
32 C typically
I know you had your fan intake 3 months already but did you experience a bit of loud noise on idle compared to the one that was outtake?
I flipped my fan few months ago and kept on repositioning it and it was making noise on idle compared to someone else’s which is super quiet without flipping the fan.
@@xFlame_ I haven't noticed any change in the noise
Are you sure? No loudish vibration noise when your pc is on idle and shaking your table? I need to know so I can attempt to adjust the fan position one more time if necessary.
@@xFlame_ I sleep in the same room as it, and I'm running it all night. No noises. If it's the fans that came with it Lenovo will come out and fix it for free.
I dont know how to open it
I show you how to open it in this video. You should finish watching it
thanks for the video just fixed my fan and put it back on the right way. i was wondering if you could put in another fan into the case. i just wanted to see if i could fit in another fan to promote better airflow. definitely subbing :D
I'm not sure where you'd put another fan. Maybe I'd you got another one on the back of the CPU radiator. But you'd need a whole new radiator that supports 2 fans.
Long story short, there aren't any other spots that are set up to have fans mounted... but it's technically possible
Does anyone that has the one from costco with the i5 processed, and are the fans facing the right direction
Yeah, there's other comments here that say the one from Costco has had the same issue
@@GrantButler by any chance do you know if the rgb fan at the back of the system where the USB ports, hdmi ports, can be changed out for a better fan?
@@useless3897 I don't know why it couldn't. You just might need an additional RGB controller if you want the lights to work on the new one
Hey bro! Sorry for asking so much but, recently the lighting part of the vantage software just disappeared, can you give me a hand? I’ve tried everything! Thanks bro. Ur still the goat
I'm checking mine, and mine is still there & working fine. I know it may sound silly, but a full shutdown and unplug the power for 10 sec might reset things when you power it back up. Sorry I don't have a for sure answer.
@@GrantButler it’s good bro, idk what I did but it came back randomly. I think it might of had to do with me unplugging the front icon light? Idk.
Perhaps you tug the pins for the led. Or you plugged it incorrectly if not locked one way? Lmk
@@BoogieSpiderman yea I unplugged it and re plugged it in and it seemed to work
@@meepnugget1651 gtg i don't own it but really impulsive to buy it on sale considering it's on sale at Costco right now for $999. But i have a cyberpower with 3060ti being delivered on monday. Decision Decision
Hi putting stuff on top of the case won’t help as it should have 2 fans pushing air out of the top
Actually the top of my case is solid... so, no ventilation.
@@GrantButler hi ahh right My t5 case has a mesh and 2 fans on top, happy days.
@@anthonypinder9384 you must have a newer one. Mine is 2yrs old
Thanks, you a lot now I know how to take off the front plate but can you make a video to show me how to put a new power supply or a new fan I would learn so many new things.
I'll see what I can do about making some videos for you
What were your temperatures running at?
Bro you need to make a video on how to add a other hard drive because mine comes in today but idk how to install it 😭😭
Depends on what kind of hard drive you have. Magnetic full size? Ssd? NVME?
I got the barracuda 4 tb international hard drive

I'm sure i could have done this on my own but thanks for posting the video. Its nice not accidentally breaking something haha
Yeah, once I save up the money I plan on getting upgrades. Starting with the SSD
I actually bought the cheaper Legion 5 Desktop 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10400 GeForce GTX 1660 SUPER 16gb ram and it had the same issue with the fan.
I also bought a MSi Codex z AMD Ryzen 5 3600 GeForce GTX 1660 Ti 16gb ram I'm running test on the two and trying to decide which one to keep. So far the MSI seems to be doing better but there's a bunch of reviews saying people have had failures on them.
I bought them both at costco and the price is pretty much the same costco also has a 90 day return period which is nice.

@@GrantButler hey I just got my pc and I haven’t checked my fan yet but do you know what temps your gpu/cpu are when running a game and what do you use?
@@traviswalmsley922 no, I've never monitored actual temperatures, just went off of heat by touch, and audible fan speeds.
Swap it back, in testing with an internal probe located near cpu intake, top blowing out and bottom sucking is 15 degrees cooler. This is huge. Does not make sense but it’s true.
I'll look into it
@@GrantButler Status? Interested to know the verdict.
fun thing is I got the one from Costco with the i5 and was wondering why it was running a little hot. But what was really funny I only had one intake fan and it was blowing the wrong way!! But other than that a great pc for beginners!

Hey man, I'm not sure if you or RUclips deleted your comment on my most recent video. But I saw it. I do not have the 1660 graphics card mine is the 2060 with the i7 processor.
But I have played war zone, and it is really awesome! When the game wants to work with my PC in the first place. Lately I haven't been able to get it to start the game

Ok so I took off the whole front panel off my pc, and with not obstructions, it’s a lot cooler, I also put more rgb fans in mine
Nice!
