I love that they are both on the same page and they're both on the call together. Husband leading the way. They will do well!!
GREAT way to start a marriage by asking these good questions about a plan to follow! Getting out of debt early and staying the course will be one less marriage complication and a solid foundation before bringing children into the mix.
People are trashing her for her student loan debt saying she’s using him, he should run, etc. However, this man financed a vehicle that he owes his YEARLY salary on. Neither one of them seems to be more financially savvy than the other but as a partnership they can create a bright future.
I love this comment 😊
Very true. He doesn’t even make money off his truck, which makes it worse
Atleast student loans provide value
Car loans are just stupid. Especially stupid for a fancy car
So his 33k is worse than 170k 😂 yall always just try and defend the women which btw that’s net for his 40 so he gross 60 you just wanna complain to make it sound better for the girl
Nah, both of them together could create a darker future
Omg I'm so happy for them. They're on the call together. They're going to make it!
Being a Team will be great! Active communication is vital
As of today 6/18/2022. I am debt free from my vehicle. I sold my 2022 Jeep Cherokee. I only had to pay $2196. I literally only have $31 to my name. But I've been at the bottom before, I'll make it back out. Baby steps! Baby steps!
What's your household income lol
You will be fine just stay focus it's worth the sacrifices
I am a nursing assistant and I make more money than her a year??
@@leadnsteel1428 he mentioned on the other thread that he makes $21k a year. Not bad at all!!! Good luck Sean!
They work!!
At least the couple are on the phone together. A good start 👌
I'm wondering where she got her nursing degree for 170k, I went to a private school to get mine and it cost me 70K, 100K less 🤔
$170K for a nursing degree is insane!!! Not even an MSN or DNP cost that much.
My daughter has a masters degree and is a nurse practitioner (midwife) and hasn't spent anywhere near that. Makes over 100K too.
She probably went to some for profit or private school where anyone passes.
Not for a professional student.
@@sebastianzx6r she probably changed career path midway.
Thats what im saying....and for her to be making $41k a year take home is garbage.
Whatever you do - pay off the debt before kids come into the picture. Dave would never say that, but once kids come on board she will want to come home at least part time and he will be saddled with her massive student loan debt.
He's gonna be saddled with that anyways.
@@djpuplex Not true, if they work on it together.
Lol kids are financial leaches haha
@@Dwights_trash_can Like you were?
@@jimroscovius doesn’t matter if it triggers you. It’s true. On average in the US to raise one kid to 18 it costs 250k
The fact that both of them were on the phone together shows a good sign that they mean business
This is a serious matter, it will surely help the couples out there. Thanks Ramsey Show!
170k in student loans and she only brings home
I KNOW RIGHT!!!
Yep professional student. Nursing wasn't her first degree.
Caller said fiancee just graduated college and started a job. She should be making a much higher base very soon and picking up overtime on a regular basis.
@@lagarde2011 Sure until she doesn't. Changes her mind, feelings, wants to be home with the kids, gets anxiety just decides to move the goal posts, files for divorce soon after marriage if he raises a stink.
Sour grapes
90 k salary for two people....
330 in debt....👁️👄👁️🦀🦀🦀🤗
I don't understand how you have $170k in student loans for a nursing degree.....
Same! My education cost me 30k and at my first nursing job I was making 70k
170k? That's an ego degree if I've ever heard. Especially for making nothing in pay
$170k for a nursing degree?!?!?!? You can be a nurse with an associates degree from a community college but I’m sure she had to have the “college experience”.
I was waiting for Dave to question why it cost her so much for her nursing degree
Most healthcare firms won't even hire nurses without a MSN or PHd!!!
@@kevinb8881 not true. Hospitals only hire BSN, out patient clinics can hire associate nursing.
@@xiomaragomez6649 If they hire ASN or BSN, they're going to want them to go for MSN and Phds if you want long term employment in nursing and that's coming from someone I know who works in nursing, so ASN and BSN is off the table!!!
Stupid comment. You need a 4 year degree to be an RN which pays way more than a nurse who isn't an RN. Paid too much but didn't need to go associates route
What do you get when you bring debt into marriage?
A nasty divorce
Nope. I wouldn't marry a woman with $170K in student loan debt.
That's one way to lower the national student loan debt crisis. Get simps to pay it off.
If you work on it together, it can work. If you can't get on the same page, then no.
Right. Don’t do it. She will drag him down into that abyss she’s already in
They are so sweet being both on the phone was great.... Good luck
He can’t think for himself, his wife is in the background answering questions 😂😂
Totally disagree. For most of the call she didn’t say a word. Only when he asked about the interest rate on her student loan is when she responded.
😂
If they are actually scared, and actually serious, then those vehicles are gone… Like yesterday.
Don't marry anybody who has debt - period! 170K??? seriously??? Find somebody who has similar values when it comes to spending money
What about love?
@@Dah2291 have seen enough love being dragged through court
@@hiteshadhikari it’s not real love then. The biblical definition is different than mainstream love we know today.
STOP marrying these women taking out 170+k in student loans for jobs they earn less then a 1/3 of the total. She makes 50-55k as a nurse. Its insane. The guy should be running!
words of wisdom from a Playa..
Human ATMs can't help themselves.
I'm baffled by how little thought many men put into the financial responsibility of the women they date and then marry. Women have a rep for being too picky about the financial stuff in their choice of men, but men really should be MORE picky about these things in women. $170k debt is a huge burden and when you marry it becomes yours. Dumb.
there is no shortage of simps in our country. let the simp learn it the hard way
@@edgehodl4832 exactly
She's gonna divorce him when he pays off her debts. :)
And take that house
Happy to see others who see the game. For what it is.

He is her first husband ! The next one will be older and wealthy while the 1st husband pays child support.
Off subject comment. I’m a vintage camera collector and I couldn’t help notice the one your studio has on display on the shelf. Looks in good condition from its angle. It’s a beautiful show piece!
That work offer is ridiculous in reference to her school loan.
Best way to tackle $300k+ in debt? Don't get married bro.
Preach! he should be running
I KNOW RIGHT, HIS DEBT WILL DOUBLE, LOL!!!😂😂😂
???? A nurse making less than 50k something is off here
Why do you have to have kids in a year or two? We waited 6 years to have our first. Get those cars and some other debts paid off first.
She needs to pay the student loan off before you get married. Real world advice!
My thought too
Or she needs to show a true commitment to budget and paying it off.
FR
Putting the cart before the horse
Both of them going into marriage with debt is a bad idea whether it's his truck debt or her student loans.
Stop spending more than you make... each of you get another job.
He needs to stop quoting that 97% rejection on loan forgiveness. 93% of people that apply do not qualify, which is why they are rejected. Also, her work might have a deal to pay off as an incentive because healthcare is in such need. Dave isn't wrong, as that 10 years would likely cost them more than just paying it off, and he is right about the methodology to pay it all off. The problem is that he loves to pretend he knows about everything, and he will never say he doesn't know
Want to tackle that debt? Don't have kids yet. Better yet don't have kids at all. Boom, you now have way more money for life.
ever heard of the term baby rabies?
Their first problem is they are from Michigan 😂 Dave can't help with that.
O-H
This plan will never happen.
Dave went to UT right?
@@markschlatter9612 I - O
I would put off having kids for a couple of years. 170k is going to take 3-4 years at 90k net.
Easy don't get married.....
Facts!!. She is coming in with most debt. The guy is blinded, will help pay the debt off, then she will switch and divorce him, leaving with the house and almony, leaving him broke and homeless. History of marriage and divorce does not lie.
@@Faluthe Yet religion promotes it and generates simps. I wonder if politicians and pastors got together to create the law?

You might want to Pre-Sale them kids you're thinking about lol
Men need to hear this. He has to sell his truck and pay her loans? Pick your spouse and know their habits long before you choose to get married…
all this lets go lets go work to get out of debt and alot of cases ends up being a divorce and then u wonder for what i wasted all this time working
300k in debt it’s probably a good idea to postpone having kids for awhile.
Wait, what did he say he does for a living?
Works at a mill
@@MrTmenzo Windmill
Millright --- A millwright is a craftsperson or skilled tradesperson who installs, dismantles, maintains, repairs, reassembles, and moves machinery in factories, power plants, and construction sites
She's on the phone too. Did y'all hear that?
Nope
They should delay having the expense of kids a few years to be married, up incomes, and pay off the student loans.
I’m god Rachel brought up the before kids part. Dave never tells people to delay kids and I think that is unwise when you could bring them into a more stable financial foundation..
I would disagree. Kids are always a blessing. They do not cost that much if you don't become insane. They need love and discipline, both cost nothing. I agree to wait a bit, to enjoy being married for a while, but not because of any financial concerns.
@@scottgilbert1591 cost nothing? You live on planet stupid buddy?
We need to stop telling women that they can put off having kids indefinitely. You can’t, it’s biological reality. And you don’t want to find out you are one of the unlucky ones for whom it will be a long, arduous, and uncertain journey when you are already in your 30s.
“After marriage” too late…
Sell the fiance
Sell the house.
don't get married until the $170K is paid off by her
I would hold off on having kids for a while. That seems a little low for a nurse with a 170k dollar degree.
she has 170k student debt? he is fcked
I earned my BSN in nursing for 32k
07:30 Even in other situations.
Student loan of 170 for a 50k salary. I make more with no education
170k for nursing? A BSN perhaps?
I did my BSN in asia and got a job as an RN after i moved here in usa, no student loans because my parents paid for it
If you wait 10 year just paying the minimum. You are spending more.
Is she worth $200k to him?
No human gal is worth that much. Now a cat? Sure. They do not expect much.
170k WAP
They always calculate net income so high. I net 50% of my income
Same here..
@@kara2162 I know Dave counts your 15% IRA investment in your "net", so your net is not actually what goes into your bank from your paycheck. But Even so, it's not clear on how to account for union dues, medical %, ect. Your actual net paycheck of liquid cash ends up being 50%
@@03Mach1dmb Net is after all taxes and all deductions.
@@03Mach1dmb not being rude or anything but I’m assuming from this you’re a new listener, welcome! I started binging a year ago and since then my wife and I are debt free and upgraded house. Anyways, theoretically all the extras in the check would be written down in your monthly budget. I don’t out of annoyance but the better way to think of it is that you’re not “netting 50%”. You’re netting what you’re actual net pay is “gross - taxes ONLY” and the rest are budget items. I and many others get that stuff out of our check automatically but if you owned a biz those things “insurance ect” would be bought from an outside company and be line items on your budget
@@03Mach1dmb hi, sorry, tried to respond to you but did the wrong person. See below if interested
they are both wildly underpaid, get new jobs in the same field
What nurse brings in 50k?
😆 "we" simp language for me begrudgingly. He's gonna be paying out the nose. "She" is gonna get "we" to pay off the loans because it's "hers" and "the" house "he" owns will be sold to make it "there's" so she gets "her" cut in the separation "if" it comes to that.
he married into 170k student loans? LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL

They do not make over 100k.
He said 90k.
I believe the 90k is take home.
Take home is NET. So they have to make over 100K GROSS. Because, in order to take home 90k you gotta make more than 100k to account for taxes.
this guy needs to sprout an ability to communicate

No need to sell the truck. They make good money.
