Thanks for the video. I have got two Vegaboxes on my rods. As the looks of it the internals are pretty simular. One of my boxes has way over 70000 km under her belt. now I want to rebuild it but I cannot find partnumbers for the ballbearings, I hope you can put me in the right direction, regards from the Netherlands.
Mine never come out tight enough to make me happy. I always have too much play. I bought a crown brand replacement that is no slop and so far feels real good. Haven't tried the borgeson one yet but it should be great as well. Both of my originals have been thru a lot so I suspect tooth wear but by eye I don't see a big problem
Thanks for taking the time making this informative rebuild gear box video. Where can I get a rebuild kit that comes with all the parts and gaskets? I have a 1970 chevy chevelle one that leaks and could use a little clean up and rebuild. Thanks Dave.
@@anthonyking4387 no idea about the c10. I’m a Jeep guy. But from all of the research I have done I know that parts are extremely scarce. Custom fab is the best bet for any special application with this gear box.
@@anthonyking4387 you know what - I am totally talking about a different gear box. Sorry about that. The 525 and it’s parts are still pretty available. This gear box was mounted inside and below the frame bumper rail about 1/4 of the way in from the drivers side frame rail.
I would fill it through the wet bolt after assembly. Then add grease or oil or whatever lubricant you prefer. Then clean and seal the threads of the wet bolt.
@@frederickt.smooderbee9621 Hi - so if you click the time link on my last comment it brings you to the EXACT moment in the video where this is explained. Have a great day sir!

Hi, is it possible to convert power steering to manual steering gear box? Tired of leaking steering oil. (not rack & pinion)
I believe there is always a way. Some creative thought and hard work can get it done.

@@stardog16 Thanks again got it ordered.
A 525 mounts on inside the frame? Which mounts on outerside?
This one was mounted above the frame on the inside of the driver side rail just about where the tire is. Big frame.
@@stardog16 do you think that a kit for it will fit one on the outside or a 68 gmc c10
