Hi Dominic, another grat video. Let my explain my experience with air filters. I did a research on the web and finally decided to order Ramair XL (foam) for my TT 225. Just fitted a RamAir to my 2001 TT. I don’t like the sound at all. Any options to have less woosh and blowoff noise. My first time fitting induction kit to a turbo car. It’s always been NA stuff for me up to this.
If your not a fan of the sound an open filter makes i would say you would want to go back to an airbox and maybe fit a panel filter, this will massively reduce the unwanted whoosh noise etc
Alright boys i need little help. I got my 225 to stage 1 and after few weeks i started to have problem with boost. One day i was driving put my leg to the floor and boom no boost just simple 1.8 pull. I thought it was a problem with n75 so i have order new one from audi and boost was back. I took it for few runs and it was fine. But after one week after new n75 i did the same thing i put my foot and again all the boost is gone just simple 1.8 pull. I replaced all four coils and boom boost is back but not for long. Now for some reason when i drive sometimes boost is on and sometimes there is no boost. Like a lottery i put my foot down boost next gear boost is gonne. Any sugestions what is causing boost one and off thing. I was checking forums out but no one ever posted solution when they finally manged to get the boost issue fixed.
DjMrowa could quite possibly have a broken or dodgy wire as when your disturbing it by changing parts it sorts it for a little while. The cable can be broken inside but the insulation is ok. I had this exact issue with mine when I got it apart from it was permanently in limp mode haha. Unplug the n75 and with a multi meter measure from ground to both pins one at a time. You should have 12v at one and 3-5v at the other. ( when the cars running) Wiggle the cables around whilst you are testing it and see if you can see any issues on the meter. Quite a common issue. May not be that but a good starting point. Also has it logged any codes ?
@@TheParrottBrosI thought it may be this problem. I did watch your previous video when you were talking about that problem. No codes recorded. I was just swapping parts and hopping it will solve the problem. I will make sure to check the cables when weather clears. Thanks for the reply much appreciated :)
Hey bro, I’ve got a 180 fwd with the K03s. Does this use a 70mm MAF or 80mm? If 70mm, can I swap to a 80mm from the 225 (to get the Pro Ram and 80mm velocity) and if yes is it worth it?
Nikolas Zikakis so, You have a 70mm atm, you can change but will need your maf element as different to the 225, that or get one mapped in. Or you can get a 80-70mm silicone reducer would be a lot easier
@@TheParrottBros Inner MAF sensor code is the exact same; at least on early models, the APX engine. It's worth checking this because it's also almost half the price because of stock and number of models it was used in. I simply used the old housing and used the new sensor whilst replacing an intermittently faulty one. To be exact, 06A906461D and 06A906461E has the same f 00C 2G2 040 in them. :D Having said that, The readings will be different in different housings so a reducer is still the best option as you said.
Is it possible to add a TIP and the air filter on a Audi tt but the steering wheel is on the left side? I don’t know much about cars but someone told me I couldn’t because brake master cylinder
This has been debated many times in the past and having never tried I couldn't say for sure, but I am sure the badger five offers an option for left-hand drive, he states on his website " This induction kit is designed for ESP equipped Right Hand drive cars (eg BAM / AMK) (may fit LHD also with some mods *no guarantees*) - Its not advised to use one of these TIPs with standard airbox but with open cone & heatshield for best fitment and power gains"
Thanks buddy, Kent wise I have very little knowledge I’m afraid, all the ones I know are either up north or other side of country haha. Badger 5 is one of the best for tt’s with many proven results. Cj mechanical in Nottingham is who I use,
just for ref, the stock filter is the same as my old S2, it was chipped RS2 spec and made 370hp how the fxxk is it going to restrict the 225, the problem is the stock airbox intake is too small.
Does the heat shield really work?? Surely unless its sealed all round the heat is all round the engine bay? You didnt say it but it sounds like its a bit pointless! An EXPENSIVE pointless! 😂
But the truth is your wasting your money and in some cases power. Don't you think Audi who spent millions in design etc wouldn't fit an efficient system. I've watched loads of comparison vids using rolling roads etc and the usual winner is the stock paper element ! Some spent £100s on ram air cones etc, total waste of money, some case's even down on power. The only advantage is the noise gain but as an adult I can live without 😯
Stuart Hall where are you seeing these videos?! I’ve watched plenty of videos showing power gains, read research on said subjects, been at a tuners where we have changed a filter between runs and proven its use when altering the mapping on a car. Yes manufactures spend millions on research to hone in the air box and cold air feed but that is based on stock power, stock pipework and such. Gains have been proven time and time again by tuners all over the world. You can get similar gains from cheaper filters over some of the more expensive stuff but you may want it for aesthetic‘s as well as performance. That’s personal choice. wak-tt.com/mods/inductiontests/inductiontests.htm Here is just one example of said testing,
@@TheParrottBros I've watched so many I'll have to go look up in my history. It's not a personal dig at you btw I was just making a general statement. I think the most recent one involved a powerful BMW on a rolling road, they took stock bhp then fitted various filter combinations. The stock paper filter won ! Maybe it would take the ecu time to adjust increased airflow ? They didn't allow for this.
Stuart Hall that’s fair enough buddy, I appreciate the comment and the honesty. In some cases you may well be right. I know in my S4 the you fit a high flow panel filter to the box and that will flow an extra 160hp without the need for an open cone filter. Madness really. I think the newer cars manufactures better understanding performance and adapt that better than older cars

Thanks appreciate the support, not really looked too much into merch, getting my stickers made and might do a few bits next year when the world hopefully opens up a bit and allows me to go visit company’s and discuss and Film openly
As always mate thanks for support
You forgot the cheep and cheerful s2000 filter which seems quite popular
jeff evans I did but will cover that in the fitting guide. As wanted to show how to mount a filter without a shield. As do you don’t want it flipping around and hard to show without a car. Like I say in video can use any 70 or 80mm filter depending on model. Just using most popular ones for examples :)
does proram need oiling? if not, is the filtration sufficient?
Ram air state the following: Ramair filters owe much of their dirt retaining properties to the unique advanced polymer treatment with which they are impregnated during manufacture. They can be given a new lease of life when they become heavily soiled by cleaning them thoroughly with Ramair polymer solvent cleaner and applying fresh Treatment to the foam filter material
@@TheParrottBros I understand that it is not enough to clean only this filter. you have to apply something. where can you buy this service pack?
Patryk Rozynek direct from ram air, and online. With the part no www.ramair-filters.co.uk/shop/automotive/accessories/foam-air-filter-economy-cleaning-kit-polymer-treatment/?gclid=CjwKCAiA-f78BRBbEiwATKRRBO7IXLPjzB3hX9lmjDa3kLYGoA-RJ0ZevL2JC-JN4Qk6ppd-Nv-v8BoCx84QAvD_BwE
( when the cars running)
Wiggle the cables around whilst you are testing it and see if you can see any issues on the meter.
Sometimes it’s worth checking what you have first as it can get expensive changing everything haha we have all been there. Let me know how you get on
Hey bro, I’ve got a 180 fwd with the K03s. Does this use a 70mm MAF or 80mm? If 70mm, can I swap to a 80mm from the 225 (to get the Pro Ram and 80mm velocity) and if yes is it worth it?
Nikolas Zikakis so,
You have a 70mm atm, you can change but will need your maf element as different to the 225, that or get one mapped in.
Having said that, The readings will be different in different housings so a reducer is still the best option as you said.
Another fantastic video!
Any recommendations to who to go for for a stage one mapping as near as possible to the South East (Kent)?
Thanks buddy, Kent wise I have very little knowledge I’m afraid, all the ones I know are either up north or other side of country haha. Badger 5 is one of the best for tt’s with many proven results. Cj mechanical in Nottingham is who I use,
just for ref, the stock filter is the same as my old S2, it was chipped RS2 spec and made 370hp how the fxxk is it going to restrict the 225, the problem is the stock airbox intake is too small.
S2’s are wicked! The box is the issue yeah, wak has proven this many years ago. wak-tt.com/mods/inductiontests/inductiontests.htm
Just got a ram air air filter and saw this vid lol the sound is amazing
Audi TT MK1 Builds they do increase the noise somewhat. Hope my sound effects were accurate 😂
this was just the video i needed
Happy days haha
Do you know what size velocity stack I would need for a 1.8L TT 2006, MK1? please :)
Which horse power option is it, that’s what differs
@@TheParrottBros I think it's the 150/180 one. I watched another one of yoir videos and measured the MAF size, and it was 7cm across :)
@@shyam8102 yeah was about to say they are 70mm then 👌🏻
what do you recommend for an opel adam 1,4?
I couldn’t advise but if they make one the right size then you won’t be disappointed
What size intake you’re holding thanks
they are all made to fit a 80mm Maf,
@@TheParrottBros thank you I enjoy all your video
does it work with only manual tt's or auto tt's i have a auto tt and was just making sure before purchase
It shoud not matter, just make sure you get the right one for the engine, as different hp's have different sized mafs
@@TheParrottBros Very much help Thank you bro have a blessed day!
Took the ram air off the noise got annoying put a bcm cone on much more subtle
If I was to get a ram filter would I have to ask my insurance?
I would notify your insurance of any modifications you’ve undertaken, often they don’t cost anything to add & wont usually affect your price
Can I purchase from the USA
I’m not sure anymore if they will post outside uk or not, you can get them from eBay or direct if not
Great content
Thank you
Does the heat shield really work?? Surely unless its sealed all round the heat is all round the engine bay?
You didnt say it but it sounds like its a bit pointless! An EXPENSIVE pointless! 😂
What if you have a VR6? ;) Don't forget those lovely engines :( Great video though
V6 box filter is same size as others, also put links in description too buddy, the xl round foam is quite a popular option for those 😎
YES! 😀
That’s personal choice.
wak-tt.com/mods/inductiontests/inductiontests.htm
Here is just one example of said testing,
@@TheParrottBros
I've watched so many I'll have to go look up in my history.
I know in my
S4 the you fit a high flow panel filter to the box and that will flow an extra 160hp without the need for an open cone filter. Madness really. I think the newer cars manufactures better understanding performance and adapt that better than older cars
@@TheParrottBros
It's from tyre review, do performance air filters really work.
Sorry I'm crap at tech so don't know how to share link.
I hope you can find it, it's very interesting. 😯

Bcm enclosed filter?
Do you mean a BMC filter like Badger5 sells? I've their BMC 80mm twincone filter built into my Wakbox to keep the engine bay looking OEM+. Sounds good too.
