    Excellent guide, just done mine after watching this before tackling the job,. Followed the advice and drilled two holes in the heatshield to bolt the MAF onto, rock solid now, very confident that everything is secure and won't rattle or work loose. Big thanks to you, and also Cloude9 for their heatshield and PromRam filter arriving quickly. Was previously running the free "WakBox" modded OEM airbox for some time now, but decided to invest in this quality setup. Keep up the good work, have used quite a few of your videos to prepare myself before tackling modifications.

    Hi mate, I’m noticing a relatively quiet clunking sound from the front end of my partners TT; there’s no affect on the handling, no rumbling or rattling on full lock or when cornering - it seems to be related to lateral suspension travel. I’ve had the front up on stands and all of the poly bushes are intact, no play in the steering arms, control arms or track rod ends. The only play I noticed is in the struts themselves - when the weight is off the car I can easily lift the suspension half an inch or so and when pulling/pushing on either side of the wheel the strut turns a small amount, would this be related to worn top mounts do you know? Any guidance would be much appreciated! 🙂👍🏻 Thanks, Adam

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 года назад +2

      Adam Taylor hey buddy. Before I even got to the part where you mention top mounts I was thinking this sounds like a top mount issue.
      Are they stock top mounts by any chance, the top mount could will be worn and or the bearing gone.
      If you have the shock absorber off to have a look at the top mount you can also check the shocks over for damping and make sure they are as supposed to be. More than likely top mounts

    Nice! At some point I think I want to swap out my foam Ram Air for a Pro Ram - you think I can use the same metal cage? Also, if you ever get bored for channel ideas, I'd like to throw this into the hat: A guide for the N249 and SIA. I recently discovered (I think) that I had two hoses incorrectly attached (From the previous owner), and the car feels smoother than ever now I've changed them over. I'd love to know the rest is all going to the correct place - everyone else just does "delete" guides, not "keep and this is where everything should plug in" guides 😁

      I will be going through the pipework and discussing what each Part does and how to test it etc. To keep your eyes peeled over the next couple months.
      Unfortunately people don’t take pics or make drawings when doing bits and often put things back in the wrong orientation

    Not sure you are still reading coments from an old vid, however i chose a relevant vid.
    Just installed a ram air kit to tt 225 stock except cat back, under light and heavy acceleration im getting alot of spool hiss from the intake, before the tt I had a 180 cupra that i ko4 swapped and did full fatboy tip and foam filter with a decent map, never had anywhere near as much hiss on acceleration, alltho i did delete the n249 and ran forge dv from manifold pressure.
    is this the stock tune opening up the dv a little cause it wants less boost, or is it unusual to get that much and maby the dv stuck open a little.
    i understand its realy hard to geuss from an explanation but do stock 1.8t hiss like a boost leak on accelaration after fitting air filter? or do i dig deeper.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  2 года назад

      It’s hard to say like you mention, I would say it’s certainly a lot louder, it’s worth checking the diverter valve, also depending on if it’s mapped or not.
      My car had didn’t have a hiss as such but plenty of chatter

    Is Heat soak not an issue with the turbo cars?? I got a ram Air on the r53 but in a box with a tube going to the air scoop. So cold airs rammed into the box. Put some rubber engine trim from the scrap yard around thr top of thr box so it seals to thr bonnet when shut:)

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  3 года назад

      It’s important but not as important as getting air in, more air is better than limited cold air. By the time it passes though turbo round the cooler system and into the engine it will have changed anyway.
      It’s always better if you can have cold only air but quantity over quality is good

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  2 года назад +1

      You can get a shield from cloude 9 customs, or you can make bracket your self out of some metal

  • @TOTALLYFIN123
    @TOTALLYFIN123 2 года назад

    hello, if the cone filter doesnt have a shield on it does it still give better power? i have heard that swapping the oem to a cone without shield might actually decrease in power.

    • @TheParrottBros
      @TheParrottBros  2 года назад

      The shield is really more for ascetics and support really, you can happily use an open cone filter without the need for a shield or box. more air flow is better than less on a turbo car.
      installing an open cone rather than a box filter may reduce a little low down torque but will be less noticeable if the car gets mapped

    Another great video. What are your thoughts on leaving the bottom of the stock airbox in place as to direct airflow and to protect from water? Have you any tips on how you made your bracket, I'm pretty hands on but don't have a welder, I'm thinking find a suitable length of metal, drill the relevant holes then to affix the intake to it use a metal cable tie.

      Hey, yeah you can do that, i used a piece of long flat bar and put a 90 degree bend on one end and bolted it to the fixing for the air box to the car, then the other end i put a 90 degree bend on and attached to the Maf ( there is a hole where it usually bolts to the airbox and just nut and bolted it there

    • @saveoursouls19871
      @saveoursouls19871 Год назад
