Ooh my God, I loved this, you are human, in process of doing this on two TTS. Rust bolts, had to cut them off with thin blade after taking drive shift and top mount off. 10mm Chislehurst to rotate in hole before fitting new one. Love the channel, stay strong
Front needs to come up a bit. I think the coil covers are okay but I just use ACF50 on my BC coil overs and its great. Ive just fully rebuilt the whole suspension and subframes and sprayed it all with ACF-50. I had some missions I can tell you, so I feel your pain.
Thats a great shout! yeah i wanted to let it settle then re adjust the whole car prior to taking it for tracking etc, Suspension on old cars isnt fun is it haha
Great advice as always Dom, particularly on cleaning up the nuts and bolts BEFORE starting the job. It is always good to see the reality of "Harry Snag" on these jobs for us mortals to attempt and know it happens to us all. A bit like my locking wheel nuts! Great job mate!
Thanks buddy, no point not showing my issues although wish I had filmed it but would have just been an hour of me cursing and saying things I didn’t mean as was angry with the car 😂
@@TheParrottBros ha ha! My little GoPro light was low on battery tonight while working in the wheel arch and it kept turning off at inopportune moments which resulted in a blooper collection of FFS about 20 minutes long 😂😂😂

Pleased to see that you enjoyed the experience. Recently changed mine to Bilstein OEM and found a 6’ long bar makes removing the rear spring easier, It helps if you put the springs back the right way up though - learnt from experience?
Haha yeah loved every minute of it, so much so I done it again this week and it went equally as well 😂 Stock springs yes the right way round helps, most after market springs unless they have adjusters are not handed / sided. Unless they have writing on etc then I’ve always fitted accordingly
I lowered mine mate and then I got the adjustable rear control arms, but now it goes in at the front and can make the car darty. The camber is 100% though…
There is so many different geo settings you can play with, castor correction bushes, adjustable top mounts etc, its hard to make it both good for road and track as both want for different things, a good track set up wont like going straight haha, but when throwing it around will e just the ticket, i am keeping it road biased as its a fun weekend one this roadster
@@TheParrottBros Any ideas for how to increase negative camber in the front? I'm maxed at the 1.5 on the stock arm. As it is, I'm getting quite a bit of roll onto the tire shoulders when driving aggressive. Currently have Bilstein B16's fitted.

Now I'm scared to tackle swapping my suspension. 😬 Just picked up the parts like 10 minutes ago. I've got new bolts for the back in the way, but if that front bolt snaps I'm effed... What's the part number for that front bolt and where can I get a pair?
Hey buddy, i wouldnt be scared, its a straight forward job i just wanted to highlight the points of potential weakness, bolts wise any TPS, coverdale car parts or ebay will do the jon just fine, part numbers are N10207804 (bolt) & N10106402 ( nut)
Not had a single issues, have done the small humps in the centre of the lane, normal bumps and inclines without any issues. The 17” 45 profile tyres I reckon help a little too 😂
Ya I was going to grab that bilstein(?) club kit but this scares me...Roadster looks craploads better with the wheels filling in the fender wells though.
They don’t I’m afraid, only the straight style springs I believe. Will certainly save the front coil overs some what. The rears are not too bad as you can see them to wash them through the wheels
They are Vogtland Coilovers, they came on a car i took apart a while back and i have been looking for an excuse to use them, they are premium budget i would say coming it at around £575 a set, i would personally have gone for GAZ if i was in the market for decent ones as there after care and rebuild services are second to none
@@TheParrottBros Thanks mate. I've yet to fit a set of coilovers on mine. Tried stock springs with yellow konis and some bilstein so far, they both were a bit too stiff for everyday use but they're great while on the highways
I'm looking to put coil overs on my TT, but I don't have any fancy 18" wheels. I just have the tock 16" wheel with big tyres like on that convertible. Is there any point me really lowering the car on stock 16" wheels or will it just look a bit stupid? When you lowered did you also add adjustable end links?
It doesnt matter what wheels you have, if you wanna lower your car then do it! its worth getting adjustable control arms if the camber needs adjusting to save tyre wear, but you can sort that after fitting the suspension if needed. its worth getting the geometry checked when the coilovers are fitted
Can’t remember if you fitted the spacers on this roadster or not, either way love the stance and the look as it is right now, it was worth the aggravation I’d say….
Thanks buddy, spacers are yet to be fitted, that’s a job for next week I think. Looking forward to getting that almost flush fitment, I’m super happy with how it looks now for sure
A lot of the spring clamps I’ve seen wouldn’t fit very well around the back springs without fowling either the body or something else when removing but I have seen a couple nice sets people have been using but not been able to find. It’s not essential but helps
I’m not familiar with the TT front suspension but would think it’s similar to other Audi’s. Have a look how Ron does it without undoing the pinch bolt (about 12m 30s in) ruclips.net/video/gAG-CEtjSBM/видео.html
The new Audis have a completely different set up, on the mark one TT the pinch bolt actually retains the shock absorber whereas on the newer stuff it holds in upper arms which are not the shock absorber, the pinch bolts on the newer ones are a lot worse as the bolt goes through aluminium where as on the old one it goes through steel so it is less of an issue

Thanks for the support!!
Looks good Dom.. mine wasn't as hard.. but the car fought me all the way...still took 2 hrs too long..
BTW.. front tire looks to need a few lbs of air
Lucky u. Took me 8 hours. For front and back. I also replaced control arms and linkage. It was my first time.
Thanks buddy, the Tyres are ok I checked them as thought the same. It’s just the slope of the garage making it look off 😅👌🏻
