I've got same dilemma. I was saving fir an Xmaxx but after seeing the issues that RCdude, Duperbash and ThunderRC have had, its kinda swayed me more toward a 8s Kraton or Outcast
@@cliffjones9922 i know what u mean But for me ive only got arrma so x maxx i think bang some ec5 connectors on it as the traxxas batteries and charger are a rip off and wait for the wide kit to come over to the uk

@@cliffjones9922 nearly bought it last night with the light kit but i might hang on as they’ve brought a new max out so i wonder if a new x maxx might be on the cards next summer 🤔
In my opinion it would have to be the Xmaxx, it will take way more abuse than an Outcast and is way way way cheaper to fix. Now this opinion is based on hard bashing, if you are looking for more of a lower basher with good handling then the Outcast, although the new Widemaxx kit may change that
I'm guessing those batteries are not a sponsor. Glad you saved your Xmaxx. I immediately thought I'd never buy these after that but the customer service is lacking at a lot of company's these days so I'd say I'm still willing to try them based on your experience.
They were not sponsored, all paid for by me, but even if they were sponsored i would have still shown this content, i can only ever be honest on something. I do really think it was just an unlucky incident with a lose connection, i know others that use these same lipos, i have used them since and also the 3s version all with no issues. As you say customer service is lacking in a lot of companies, but CNHL came through great, and they dont even know i have a RUclips channel so no special treatment either
Nice smoke screen, Glad Tower Hobbies is taken care of the issue. Innovation RC uses those batteries all the time in his high-speed runs and has no issues. I was surprised to see those go up in smoke. If I had to guess why they failed, it might have been from the Hard-Core RC Bashing and hard landings. Just a guess.
It was direct from CNHL i bought them and they sorted me out 👍👍 was only about the 5th jump so not to bad, but i think it was just unlucky to have a faulty pack, likely a bad solder which came lose on the landing and shorted a cell, could see the shorting when we were tapping it on the ground
@@HardcoreRC I saw that there was clearly one cell on fire, and then obviously you guys let the other cells go up, to get rid of the danger factor. Glad everyone is safe, and your back to sending it. Looks like your XMAXZ received a little bit of burn from that hot fire.
@@airguns_rc YUes was just one cell that went, then we had to make sure the other cells had gone, then let it all cool down before disposing of safely. Brand new chassis took a little bit of melting, but nothing to bad once i have got the molten case off
Do you think it was a bad cell, or perhaps just a bashing accident with battery issue ?? Like anything man makes, we can make mistakes, ive hand built race engines in cars an motorcycles and sometimes one just goes bad because of an unfortunate issue with another minor part, but leads to total destruction of a 30k engine 🤦♂️ I've always been lucky with my customers who understand this and never blast me or yell its my fault as these silly things happen. As a business I stand over my work and a rebuild is free, I only ask that parts are paid for by customer at cost price.

to be fair, they were likely bouncing around taking hella hits from those hard landings. I'm kind of amazed they replaced it with the way they were beat around in that rig with those hard landings.
That's not being fair. That's speaking from obvious inexperience. If it was solely from bashing it, why did the other not go up in flames? That alone disproves you're theory. Or, then at the end of the video you clearly see only a single cell had the damage that caused the failure... That's how you know something went wrong in manufacturing. Maybe contaminated soldering failed on that one cell, after all, it was only that one cell that was arcing upon him immediately pulling it out.
First charge with very little use, these were not even big jumps, we have sent all our cars far harder than this and never had an issue. If i thought for one second i was at fault i would pay to replace, im not the sort of person that try's to blame something on someone else when i know its my fault. This was likely just a bad connection, likely from a bad solder which happens, you can see one cell arcing when we had pulled it out.
Thanks for the support - totally agree highly likely to be a bad solder which can happen, but these wee most certainly not big sends by any imagination 👍👍
@@captaincouldverc Landints are not jumps. Many of those were nose in, which will bounce the packs against the ends in the trays. its only a matter of time. Thanks buddy, yep pretty sure it was just a bad connection on one of the tabs, these things happen, one of the side effects from putting something full of lithium in an RC car 😂😂
Man that sucks. Was that a hard cased lipo? I guess it doesn't matter. Yeah the abuse that we put these batteries through is just insane. Actually I'm surprised that lipos last throughout 30ft plus jumps constantly 🤣. It happens. Powerhobby batteries are expensive, but they have warrantied a couple of batteries for me with no questions asked. They come with a 6 month warranty.
It was a hardcase lipo yes and its very first use, so highly likely just a bad solder that came lose in the jumps, good that they replaced with 2 lipos within 2 days as well. This is the first lipo we have ever had go, but they are scary when they do go

I've got same dilemma. I was saving fir an Xmaxx but after seeing the issues that RCdude, Duperbash and ThunderRC have had, its kinda swayed me more toward a 8s Kraton or Outcast
@@cliffjones9922 i know what u mean
But for me ive only got arrma so x maxx i think bang some ec5 connectors on it as the traxxas batteries and charger are a rip off and wait for the wide kit to come over to the uk
@@miketube6662 Sounds good. Won't be until summer that I get it. Just bought a 6s Kraton which is fantastic and really made me want go up to 1/5 scale 😀

Do you think it was a bad cell, or perhaps just a bashing accident with battery issue ??
Like anything man makes, we can make mistakes, ive hand built race engines in cars an motorcycles and sometimes one just goes bad because of an unfortunate issue with another minor part, but leads to total destruction of a 30k engine 🤦♂️
I've always been lucky with my customers who understand this and never blast me or yell its my fault as these silly things happen.
As a business I stand over my work and a rebuild is free, I only ask that parts are paid for by customer at cost price.
Im pretty sure it was just a bad connection, as you say these things can happen on anything that is man made, the main thing is then how is it dealt with, and the customer service was fantastic.

@@HardcoreRC I found that the newer ones they sent have got loads of punch
The only thing that I don’t understand (you might be able to help here?) is the gauge of the cable used
My over lander packs are 50c 65c burst and use 10 awg cable but the CHNL with 120c 240c burst use 12awg which seems odd as surely more powerful packs should come with thicker cables to help keep the heat down

Did you buy direct from CNHL, i know MIBI was selling them at quite a high price - i have been waiting for the deals CNHL do and then they work out super cheap.
to be fair, they were likely bouncing around taking hella hits from those hard landings.
Im not blaming anyone, just saying if you get punched in the eye enough, there's a good chance you'll end up with a black eye at some point.

@@HardcoreRC Yeah you’re absolutely correct on that! Lol
Man that sucks. Was that a hard cased lipo? I guess it doesn't matter. Yeah the abuse that we put these batteries through is just insane.
