    Personally I haven’t had any breaks or damage on my outcast. I beat on it pretty hard too. However I don’t send mine to the stratosphere either. Highest jump was about 20ft. The weight alone is a reason I personally wouldn’t beat on it as extreme as you guys. Plus I feel the shocks are angled too much. Don’t think it’s a design flaw in the shocks but more like a design flaw in the geometry. Great video! Awesome edits!

    • @HardcoreRC
      @HardcoreRC  3 года назад +3

      Thanks, we do like the Outcast 8s, its a great truck. Think its a combination issue really, the wide angle of the shocks gives it more stability, but then the shock shaft is to small to handle the big jumps with the angle.
      Needed to have narrower shocks, but that would ruin the handling, or thicker shock shafts. The EXB now has 6mm shafts so they have addressed the issue, just a shame they didn't go to 7mm shafts.
      Thank you for watching and glad you liked the video 👍

Seeing the RC is the fun part don’t u want to appreciate the it moves, speed, shock articulation, body movements etc? I do like to watch the videos there’s a lot of other good stuff on here too, also to support our community. I did upgrade my shock shafts from the getgo and never had an issue unti 2days ago. I hit metal pole doing about 50mph and that was all!🤷🏻‍♂️😃cheers everyone just have some fun.👊🏼✌🏼🙏🏼

    • @andiprogshop3097

      You are right with the geometrie. The shocks need a steeper angle, not much, just 1cm wider on the shocktower and everything would be fine. Lifting the suspension arms a few millimeters with the droop screws would help also

    It’s official boys!! The X Maxx is the undisputed 1/5 scale basher beast of 2021.
    Crazy how much higher though our beloved OurvArrma Kraton 6S can soar!
    I might say if you take a size out of the equation the Arrma Kraton 6S is the dominant all time basher. Thoughts?

    • @HardcoreRC
      @HardcoreRC  3 года назад +2

      Yes no question in my mind the is the undisputed 1/5th basher. The 6s cars can go crazy high that is for sure, our EXB hits stupid heights, think we recorded 49ft once.
      But this year is going to be very interesting once we get to summer as i know of some crazy 1/5th builds that are going on right now that whilst not stock could be jumping to even greater heights.
      All that said the Kraton EXB is still our favourite car

  • @lexsteel12
    @lexsteel12 3 года назад +2

    This durability test may, or may not be a fair comparison. The Outcast 8S is how much heavier than the X-Maxx? But the Outcast should at the bare minimum, last a few hard landings without bending the shock shafts. If I'm investing that kind of money on any RC over $1000 dollars, I would expect it to last me a few bashing sections, without busting an A-arm or bend some shock shafts.

    • @HardcoreRC
      @HardcoreRC  3 года назад +2

      Think its a fair comparison as they are both 1/5 scale monster stunt / bashing trucks, both cost roughly the same just one is made of plastic and the other is metal. Totally agree that with the amount the outcast costs it should be able to take jumps without shocks bending on good landings, if the landing were bad and something breaks then that's just RC life, but they should not bend on good landings, they were actually bent after just the second landing.
      Hopefully Arrma will take this onboard and revise the design to sort out the issue

I'm hesitant to get one because every traxxas vehicle I own required A TON of upgrades just to be able to make it through 1 Lipo or pair of lipos without somthing failing . both my revo 3.3 and e revo and Emaxx were absolutely terrible ! Outcast is a big heavy beast, my biggest issue is that the truck is marketed and sold to be able to do this and it cant 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️
      This is the only Traxxas we own, although do have another Traxxas coming very soon, so cant comment on how their other car perform, but the Xmaxx is really a great RC.
      It does have some weak spots that are cheap and easy to deal with:
      1) Rear hubs - change out to RPM that have a much bigger bearing, also RPM have just released front hubs, but not aware of any issues with the front hubs.
      2) Hinge pins can pop out as the a arms flex, just replace certain hinge pins with two packs on RPM hinge pin that come with nuts on the end.
      3) Spur and pinion gears, if they go replace with Hot racing or GSD hardened steel ones.
      4) Diff out drives can crack, $20 gets you output drive cup rings.
      We have beat the snot out of ours, broken 1 A Arm, front bumper mount, rear diff cover (£3.15)

      The Xmaxx in this video was all stock except for a Max6 ESC (changed from Traxxas as i dont like to use adapters and dont have any lipos with Traxxas connectors, dont like cutting the connectors off any RTR ESC due to then losing the warranty) and the red A arm, which is still s stock A Arm just red (its not an RPM A Arm for example).
      Even after this video we are still running the stock servo, still on same center drive shaft, although we did bend it at the last BMX video, but then on another jump bent it back 😂😂
      All RC's will break if they land bad, but the Xmaxx has had some really hard bad hits and just taken it. in this one it takes some big hits, its also where the A Amr broke, jack said RPM but it wasnt, it was a stock red arm: ruclips.net/video/GrX8uUUCNZk/видео.html

      Hardly a Traxxas fan boy, out of the 15 cars we own 13 of them are Arrma, one Traxxas and one Proline. No Arrma car out the box has been as tough as the Xmaxx, but thats not to say all Traxxas cars are good - dont know as dont onw any others, however, i can say we have bent every single 6s cars chassis we own - even both our Kraton EXB chassis.
      Arrma 3s cars are super tough out the box, 6s cars need a lot spent to make them tough, EXB is the best that Arrma do, but still needs better hinger pins, hinge pin holders and chassis (they never made it wider at the back so still bends far to easy).

    Outcast shocks are more angled than the xmaxx shocks, so yes, it will allow the xmaxx jump higher, but try to corner with xmaxx at more then 30 mph, then try it with outcast and you will understand the difference in the shock design.

    • @HardcoreRC
      @HardcoreRC  3 года назад +2

      Outcast is wider, heaver and lower center of gravity is why it corners better, but im pretty sure the Outcast isnt designed for racing, its supposed to be a stunt truck capable of doing big jumps and back flips etc. Dont get me wrong i still love the O8S, and its the best looking RC we have, but out the box for the price it cant keep up with the Xmaxx for doing what it was built to do - be a stunt truck.

      If all you want is to jump as high as you can, or drive straightly, definitely go for xmaxx. If you want all around basher which can jump (i don’t think it was meant to jump 34 ft), do nice backflip, and even compete very nicely with any other 1/5 truggy(which xmaxx just cant do) , def go for outcast.

    Yah the outcast shock shafts are definitely A massive weak spot.. the reason the xmaxx shocks are lasting is because they are much longer so they have more compression to handle how tall The xmaxx is compared to the outcast... but yah in general outcast is also heavier...If I was to choose from both I would get A xmaxx chassi and put the kraton 8s shell on it with A hobbywing max5 combo, Belt Driven With A Set Of Jims Bearings All Around... Also would change the stock radio because I don't really like the feeling of the Tqi...

    • @HardcoreRC

      Issue with the Outcast shocks is the angle they are at to make is handle better, plus they are just too thin for the car, hence why the EXB K8 now has 6mm shafts and M2C are working on 7mm version. Problem with going Max5 combo is the extra weight you would be adding, more weight means more things break easier 👍

    The geometry on the OutCast seems a bit off from watching this. However, you did jump it 36ft high😂 and it weighs a bit more than the XMAXX. #M2C definitely needs to be onboard for even a slight chance of survival. Great video. Keep it guys.

    • @HardcoreRC

      Geometry is all stock, just the stock shocks cant take the weight, Arrma really should address it and put better tool steel shafts on as standard. It did handle very well in the air though

      @@HardcoreRC Mainly what I meant is they have the Geometry off. Because if the rods don't bend they break the arms. You can use #M2C and it helps a lot. It also seems that in the videos I watched, the arms start to give up instead. Idk...just saying that's the appearance from this video and many more I have seen.

    It’s really hard for me to take durability tests to heart, in general I mean. Everyone has a different experience, I’ve only had one shock shaft bend in any of my 3 arrma cars and it was because I hit a telephone pole going nearly max speed. There was much more damage than just the shock shaft lol but point is sometimes people have good experience with cars most online would say are bad and bad experiences with ones most would say are good. I know Rc are expensive but at the end of the day you’ll never know how a car will do under your driving style/skill level until you buy one and drive it yourself.
    Oh course there is the odd lemon here or there and most manufacturers are great at sending replacements.

    • @HardcoreRC
      @HardcoreRC  11 месяцев назад +1

      That is true to a degree, the 6s and 3s cars the shocks are ok, yes we have bent them but under extreme conditions, but for general every day use they are deffo up for the job. The Outcast 8s the shocks were just not up to the job for the size and weight of the car, Arrma knew this as well which is why they made the shafts thicker for the EXB version, but never updated the standard version, all fairly mutt now as the old RTR has now been discontinued.
      Also would really call this a durability test, just normal heavy bashing, both cars were put through the same jumps, yet all four shafts bent on the Outcast.

    I can get a $79 rc at Walmart and throw it 46 feet in the air and it prolly won't break because all plastic TOYS are much lighter....the heavier vehicle is experiencing greater forces than the lighter vehicle does not mean that its actually more durable.

    • @HardcoreRC
      @HardcoreRC  3 года назад +1

      I can promise you that if you buy a $79 rc car at walmart and throw it in the air 46 ft it will break. The point is Arrma market the Outcast 8s as i quote "OUTRAGEOUS SIZE, OUTRAGEOUS POWER, OUTRAGEOUS TOUGHNESS" "THE BIGGEST STUNT TRUCK BY FAR" "OUTLAST THE COMPETITION WITH THE ARRMA OUTCAST 8S" the last quote is clearly the biggest laugh, cause it sure didnt outlast the Xmaxx
      None of the landing were bad to cause the Outcast the need to retire. In actual fact both cars hit at a terminal velocity of 14.683 m/s and the Outcast has a kenitic energy of 1185J and the Xmaxx 933.5J so not that great a difference

      @@przemekgreszata2810 the Xmaxx you saw crack in half was already broken, oh and that cost a whole £23 to fix 😂😂, our review was unbiased in as much as we didn't care which care came out on top, both were put through the exact same jumps, on the exact same day, both jumped the same height and simple facts are the Outcast couldnt not handle what the Xmaxx did, check out tomorrow video as well, you will see various Xmaxx's taking a serious amount of abuse and then see what happens to the Outcast 8s on one jump.
      In the UK Traxxas come with 1 year warranty, but length of warranty doesnt equate to a good or bad product, every single one of our Arrma cars the servo has died, i have had to return 6 ESC's, the Notorious for example is on its 3rd ESC after a replacement one died after just 2 runs, Hobbywing only give a 6 month warranty, but their ESC are far better than Spektrum ones that are made by Hobbywing to a lower standard and spec.
      Not sure were you got a $900 repair for failed motor and esc - new the ESC is only $249 and $161 for the Motor, or buy from Jennys RC for $278 all in for both. Of course best thing he could have done was take the junk ESC out and put a Max6 in 😂😂
      Simple fact is that the Outcast can not take the abuse the Xmaxx can, yes it does handle better, and if the stock shocks were not an issue then why did they upgrade them for the EXB ?
