For the second room you made suggestions for- I love, love, love the rust/red color rug you added under the bed at timestamp 26:28. It did a "WOW" for that space. Adding a throw pillow to the bed in that same color, as well as a large framed piece of art with the frame in the same color would bring a cohesive look and add color to the beige tones. I also love the Roman shade idea!
The problem with minimalists is they don't want rugs because it's harder to keep clean. They don't want an extra pillow because an extra pillow is decoration, not necessary. Ditto for all of LKs suggestions like the reading nook, extra chair, curtains - all of these suggestions create more work because they have to be cleaned. Then, after removing pretty much everything from the space, a minimalist will ask why their space doesn't feel inviting. Minimalist spaces aren't inviting, they're bare bones utilitarian designed for functionality instead of comfort (unless of course, they happen to have beautiful bones via handmade cabinetry or the like, instead of builder special vibes).
Love the suggestions. If they moved the dining table out, 2 seating areas could be created, making it feel more cozy. I'm thinking 2 upholstered chairs by the fireplace and the sofa seating towards the back of the room.
Thank you for giving multiple options! Multiple layout options, multiple chairs or lamps or tables the owner can choose from. I loved how diverse your "Decor I love" or "Textures I love" slides were. It really gives your viewers the freedom to still make their own decisions but with a more focused design style. This is the BEST virtual makeover video I've seen on RUclips! You could also call it WWLKD "What Would LK Do?" 😄
It’s Aug 7 .. 2024 and first time I have seen you videos.. love it . Did subscribe and will watch often and share with my 2 sisters and adult nieces ❤️❤️
Love, love, love your message equally to accessing your talent and knowledge for my own consideration. If if works for you then yes!, more of these videos please especially for those of us, like me, who are design challenged. The unique applications, even with lacking information to make decisions, is so valuable. Suggestion: perhaps include outdoor living spaces as well. I have a large back porch that I am redoing (it's never been done) and I have our colors picked out that we want to see daily and my gut wants to paint the ceiling a gorgeous deep, dark, navy blue-teal (almost black) but then all the guidance says that's a no-no. It's more a utilitarian space than a garden lounge area. This is where I keep all my gardening tools, soil amendments, mulch, tarps and fabric pots in storage bins on shelving, and most importantly my dehydrators, worm farm, outdoor swamp cooler, and comfy chill chair (hoping to thrift a second chair) to kick back and love and enjoy this space. But it's a mess!!! I have potted plants for the area and a design forming for a sort of plant rack/mini plant wall to put at the edge of the porch to cut down on sunny glare in the afternoon. If one of your episodes, you could focus on the application of paint colors and the why's/why not's it would be super helpful. I have four very bold colors that I am in love with and look forward to figuring out which will be accents and which are the main color(s). Thank you LK, your content is very inspirational and probably the main reason I moved forward with choosing paint and picking up samples.
Yes, yes! I love the large textured art on the bedroom wall. Maybe a printed or colored layer on the bottom of the bed so the bed linen would been seen instead of the bars on the bed frame foot board. Lovely room and beautiful flooring.
Love how you change the vibe and make it cosy with small additions or color ! I'm a minimalist not fully by choice but because i need my room very easy to clean because of immune system illnesses. I love cozy oldschool boho but also japandi. Im stuck with mostly metal furniture and only bare minimum of textiles, no rug, no plants, minimal wood accents. I work with small lamps with different bulbs with a very warm glow but still. Need to try and infuse a bit more color and texture like with one extra cushion or some ornate metal decor.
Yeah - glad to hear you have some AC! All good suggestions in both rooms, plenty of options for each submission to try. It was nice you linked all the suggestions also. Just watched the video/person you suggested; Emily Bode's Home Tour: • Inside a Designer’s Handcrafted NYC A... What a wonderful couple and unique home they have created. Really enjoyed the tour and their quirky items and the stories behind them. Thanks for the referral, nice!
Yes I really enjoyed it so I vote for more, and I like the thorough approach! I agree and think moving the furniture to the middle of the living room and putting a rug in that bedroom would be my first actions. This was fun. K bye.
Very helpful - I like that you share your rationale and why you are choosing particular pieces. Really helps me see items more thru a designer's eye. I'd love to see a series like this :)
Great video again! Oh also there are now fireplace tv mounts that can also lower the tv … very handy for people who have no alternative place for their tv…
What a great idea! I am moving in a month to a small community in North County San Diego...into a home built in 1978 where not much has been done. I will be taking inspiration from you in the mean time for MCM decorating ideas. Definitely would love more segments of LLLK
Hi LK 👋 I just discovered your channel and subscribed. You are a natural at this! Great personality, great presentation. Would love to see more, and you chose a perfect title for this series. ❤
Definitely think the coffee table should be round in that first house. The curve helps fit the living room in with the shape of the fire place and there wouldn't be all these sharp edges hitting up near the back end of the fire place
Episode 1 of "Living Like LK" is a hit! 🙂 👍 You did such good work digging into the different options for Barb's bedroom. LOVED the white column for the plant. Thought your options for the coastal open plan were helpful and insightful, too. Just enjoyed the minimal bedroom more. New sub. ❤️
such a good video! really liked seeing your take on these two rooms. they were great suggestions and I can really see how those small changes can have a huge impact and make each room feel more complete. It's cool that you gave so many variations on ideas.
Absolutely love your videos! I am so happy I found your channel. You're so thoughtful but approachable with your styling. I was going to ask for more of your influences and while I loved the style of that NY Apt, I found having to listen to that couple exhausting. I would easily listen to you explaining what you like about other ppls homes.
Love this idea. House 1, the acessories don't have any sense or arrangement. Best to take them all out and start again. (Dear god no tv above the mantel). House 2, I don't get the minimalist idea. That is not a "minimalist" bed frame. Perhaps they mean low clutter but I think that they are unsure of their style.
I love the idea of this series and the name you came up with is perfect!
Terrific video LK. I'd love to see more. Thanks.
Luv that you left the fireplace as is (first home in video)
yes!! it’s really nice!

Wonderful suggestions! Would love to have more in this series.
I would add many plants to mantle to hide some of the stone and soften it up…like the new name living like LK great job
Great job, doing levels of changes so people can slowly invest is smart in these financial times as is suggesting buying used and updating.
absolutely! thanks as always :)

Love it! Would def love a series!
On the flagstone fire place, a wooden slab mantle covering the stone top shelf would soften the space perhaps.
Yes, yes! I’d love to see more! :)
I loved this video and the name and the series! Very helpful ideas. Sending you every room in my house. Just kidding.😊
I know, right?? 😂
Same lol!

That first fireplace was seriously amazing! I love how you worked with it.
Glad you liked it!
LK you gave such great ideas. Love this series _Living Like LK_ and the instrumental jazz accompanying this vid.☺️
I love Angela’s fireplace 😍

Can't even change my wall color, I'm just glad it's white and not grey or neon, my color enemies 😅

I agree. Sharp stone corners, ouch.

I loved this episode! Could definitely use help with my 1920s Sears house living room.
I love this idea! Thank you!!
Awesome video, looking forward to the next one!
Sample one- I would get a framed, art displaying TV instead of the horse photo
Great video! Really enjoyed it.

Suggestion for a future video……DIY ways to disguise or hide a television! ❤
You explained this so well, thank you!

Yes more please
Good ideas!
On Amazon they sell very sleek rolling TV stands.
I love this format and all of your ideas. I hope Angela & Barb pop in the comments and let us know what they thought of your suggestions.
U lost me at the green plaid 😂
Popcorn ceilings could be asbestos, should always test before DIY removal
Dark brown carpet showed every speck of lint...been there
Good suggestions in both spaces. I disagree with the small picture on the bedroom wall. They look lost. Hope you do another video like this.
Would also love to see what people do with your suggestions!
❤

Love your channel, ❤ but your bathroom door being open, is so distracting. 😂
