I have no idea why you've never shown up in my feed before...but I'm sooo glad you did today! ReStore, Goodwill...my fave style...I call my house ReStore Chic...
You guys always do such a great job with the "after" shots, giving the viewer time to see it from different angles and not rushing it, which I really appreciate.
That man is not just talented but also humble and open. He took some good suggestions on board haha (because he was rushing it a bit before, when showing the AFTER. I think he was too humble and didn't fully realise how great his design skills are. Now he's grown into embracing how darn talented he really is ! Go, Andrew! 😊)
It looks great. The change of rugs with that pop of red, more wood tones and the new artwork really bring warmth to your kitchen. Liked it before, love it now ❤
Looking good, but be ready to clean the glass on your numerous prints at least once a year, as your art will get greasy with heating and frequent cooking. Same for your sicilian Mask. You might consider hanging it highier, in order to join the other art hung very high. It will give an overall feeling of height. Bravo to you, your father and your partner for the patient, good work you have accomplished!
Thank you! Yeah the pieces with a story are the most special to me. And all the little stories of where I found my thrift finds are part of why I love thrifting so much!
My home is similar even if not as thrifted, I can you where I bought something, the artist, the reasons ECT. It's the only way to be myself 😊@@REISSUED
Yes! You are creating a story of yourself through your space. If the aesthetic speaks to you authentically, that's all it matters. Who cares if it's trendy or not. Your space is gorgeous!
I really appreciate your commitment to reuse and recycle and the amazing things you come up with based on your finds! I think bringing in the reds and other warm tones really rounded out the space well.
The coatrack hook was a great idea! Maybe layer it up with a vintage hat over the art piece. Not to cover the art, but to give it added story and even out the weight ( if that makes sense). Love the refresh, very inspiring!
i think what that area really needs is the tapestry/photo to get a thicker, more substantial cord to hang from. then it would match or at least feel equivalent to the hook.
Wait….did you make jam? Not the point of the video, I know. But it was in 3 different shots! Love the changes! So well thought out. I don’t go by what the current trend is. Embrace what you have and go with what you like! I don’t hang much artwork in my kitchen but you have inspired me! Love the picture rails and the new copper ones. I need to age some copper, Thanks for the tips. 0:06
I think part of what made farmhouse seem like a trend then and therefore less fashionable now is that people were putting it in houses that were not farmhouses or old houses with a sense of history in their very architecture, so it strayed too far into decor, rather than useful items that happen to be rustic or old. It was all too much when a barn sprouted up in the kitchen of an otherwise modern suburban house or city apartment. Having older items in your home gives a through-line and sense of conversation between the history of the home and the modern era and more modern pieces you have. I think you’ve found a good balance.
Well said! You are exactly right. The problem,in my opinion , with the farmhouse trend was its inauthenticity. People buying the style from Target or other retailers so that it was generic and lacked soul.
Also the farmhouse craze was just a modern interpretation on farmhouse style. It strayed too far from what it actually is which is actually a hodgepodge of collected, inherited, homemade and passed down treasures.
Love it! Loved it before too, but its even better now. Its cosy but elegant and looks personal. I especially love the addition of the hook (no gold border needed!) And the mirror. And the rug! Loved the video.
Your kitchen was already a beautiful room, but wow, you amped it up so much further! I love your videos, Andrew. You are a very creative person. So happy to have your channel in my view list.
What I like about you is that you're very unique❣️ When I buy my house I want every room to be unique just like yours. No cookie cutter, kitchen or anything in my house!!!!!
Just beautiful. It was your first kitchen makeover that brought me to your channel. I don't care at all about trends. What you have done here is so amazing.
I really enjoyed your video and actually thought both versions were nice, but you added more warmth on the second go round which is nice. I liked all the projects you added. I'm a painter and a vintage picker and you can find awesome stuff at thrift shops and flea markets. I have had amazing finds go through my hands as a vintage seller that I regret selling, but the biggest problem with being a collector is acquiring too much stuff that it cannot all be shown at one time. There's just no room in my house to go full on with something everywhere and so I curate and settle for a few moments in each room. I do the same things you do and assemble, repurpose and restore objects or leave as the object as found. I see each piece as art. I'm sixty-four years old and still a big kid at heart. I find wonder and amazement in things. My career was in design and worked as a senior graphic designer/illustrator, art director and adjunct professor at an art college for over 45 years professionally. You would like some of my assemblages and projects. I enjoy the sharing of found objects and my home is in constant curation of adding and subtracting. It keeps it fun and eclectic.
This turned out so cozy and realistic! I feel like I can create a space like this. You gave me so many ideas for my own kitchen makeover. I’m definitely hanging the copper pipe, that looks so pretty!
I love how the small touches, especially aging the terracotta and adding chains to hang framed art, added such interest and beauty. Definitely add gold designs to that plaque with the hook 😊Matt knows his plants! A nice touch in the kitchen decor.
You totally nailed it with the cozy redesign! The extra storage is a huge plus, and Matt's plant recommendations really bring in that natural, cozy vibe. And fresh herbs? Yes, please! Awesome job all around!
WOWZERS Andrew! Great great job. I have two suggestions: 1)yes, some gold on that wood hook, but clean geometric lines and 2)make a stain glass escher for the top of your window over the sink. LOVE IT!
A wonderful refresh! I love how all your spaces, even just after designing them, look like they've been lived in and loved for a long while. Most kitchen renovations look sterile and too super-clean to me, and this looks like a kitchen someone with a life has been in for a while. For the hook plaque, I think some rub and buff along the edge in gold or copper would make it look that much more solid, yes.
I totally second the rub n buff idea. They have several shades of gold from what I have seen from other RUclipsrs so you should have no trouble finding just the right one
I don't worry anymore about what's in or out. Telling a story with your space means, by default, that your style is eclectic because it incorporates what you bought on your trip to wherever that brings back so many memories and what appeals to you - or what you need - now. It also means that you can work with what you have and make the best of it. Thank you for sharing this video.
You’ve done a wonderful job of honoring the character of the house and yet bringing it up to date in a very classic style. It’s really timeless. The hook from the coat rack was such a neat idea. Adding that to my thrift want-list. 👍
I love the makeover!! I loved it before but now, its even better. Our homes are always a work in progess, arent they! I get bored after a while and just need a change. Your's is a wonderful inspiration!
I Love the thoughtful mix of well placed art on the kitchen walls and your gorgeous red area rug in front of the sink. AND I think the aged copper rods under the shelves was Brilliant! A visualLY satisfying aesthetic.
Love it. You all did such an amazing job! You have incorporated such great finds to make it such a personal space for you. This made me happy to watch and inspired to decorate my kitchen in autumnal vibes
Don’t let anyone tell you what to do in your home..if you love it, it will work…and it does …it looks great..I love art so I put it everywhere….instead of plastic flowers I use art…there’s nothing wrong with plastic flowers if you love them but I love art..so that’s what I do…great job..
I love your range hood! Your kitchen isn't exactly my style but it's clearly beautiful and well put together, something to be very proud of. I love that it's eclectic but cohesive.
Ill be honest never been a fan of kitchen makeovers. Usally because wherever i have lived i tend to use the kitchen the least (i rarely cook expecet for the occasional japanese dish or less tradtional pasta recipe that probably has my great grandmother laughing in heaven) . My mother father and youngest brother are all phenomenal cooks 🍳 (thank god because my middle brother and i can hardly boil water). Therefore whoever cooks has always decided how the kitchen looked and was organized. Your kitchen makeover though while simple in some ways really blew me away! My perosnal style is excentric maxalmislm with broad strokes of fantasy and touches of whismy and dark academic. Think a magical gentlemans wizards bedroom who dabbkes in alchemy and art projects for hobbies. 😅 Easy to translate to a bedroom or even office or bathroom but not a kitchen. While not the same style i loved your little touches of design that were elegant yet unique with personality. Definitely a win in my book! Keep up the great work!!! ❤
You have one of the most beautiful homes I've ever seen! I love everything you do so much that it makes me oddly emotional every time. Your "new" kitchen reminds me of my aunt's house in Italy. Even though most walls were white, the dark woods and eclectic antiques gave it a warm, inviting feeling. Just like yours! It brings me so much joy even though I'm only seeing it from afar (from France to be exact) ☺️
Good thinking this room through aloud. Love the ikea countertop cabinet but those types of things need to be put against a corner and flat to the wall to save the most space. Then stack something on top. Your cabinet with the lazy Susan wastes lots of vertical space. Drawers are much better. A good way to use them is to add an upper shelf inside. Maybe a pullout! Maybe two. Yes, the wood plaque from JoAnns needs a bit of gold detailing. While the range hood is still very large and chunky, you managed to soften and lower it a bit. Your kitchen style is very near my own, and you’ve given me some ideas. Thank you. The room is a stunner!
Just to be safe, add another screw to the lion hanging. It came out great and would be a crime if it broke. Thanks for all the good info. How to customize artwork, lime wash on terracotta, thrifting at the Restore, etc. As it gets closer to Christmas, you can add more red touches. A red geranium hanging from a wall above the rolling cart would be cheerful. ❤😊
Well done, Andrew. In the future, if counter space is at a premium, you might consider turning the corner rolling cart into a Coffee/Beverage kiosk. That would give you some added counter space. Now, this is not a recommendation, just a thought. But did you ever consider painting the vent hood surround the same blue as the cabinets, or even the wall color? I am a big advocate of fine-tuning and or cultivating space as it gets lived in. Cheers!
Hey Rick! Great suggestions! I opted to keep and counter on the cart clear and the items on the cart stable so that I can roll it around for extra work top if necessary! And regarding the range hood, I think the cabinet color might be overkill but I definitely considered painting it out to match the wall!
Everything you touch becomes a curated sophisticated and beautifully designed space. I love it! ❤❤❤ Can't even categorize it into a "Farmhouse" " Industrial" "Rustic" or "Dark Academia" or any other style. It's simply Andrew style (don't know your surname). It's by Designer Andrew. And even if you don't have formal Designer training, you've surpassed a lot of "professional designers" now. You have the eye and the vision, before you even create it. This is very educational. I'm going to re-watch your Christmas decor videos now because it will soon be that time of year and I need me some quality inspiration 😊 Your biggest fan in England, UK
Love your vision and the way you executed it in your kitchen!! So much inspiration...from the lime wash aging of the lion to the cart diy upgrade and the clever sourcing of beautiful art. ❤
SUPER ! also that little shimmy at te end when you said cozy cooking. Add a wreath or small plant to the coat stand hook to bring some green to that area. I too thought you were heading to the rolling stand in the corner as becoming your coffee station, but probably no outlet and better closer to the sink for water, unless you got a huge water jug, but tgatvwould be just one more thing. Also your resourcefulness with the digital artwork I find to be beyond cool as I often struggle just to find the print icon sometimes. Job well done !
At 27:07 cant help thinking the lion should have something in his mouth, like a cigar or something, or a trumpet. idk. Nice makeover tho,, looks awesome!!
Hi Andrew! The kitchen looks great! What a difference it makes swapping out a few things here and there. I love all the little details, and the new prints look beautiful in your kitchen. I liked it before, and I love it now! Great job! Thanks for sharing!❤
When things go out of fashion is when you realize what is classic. If you look through old design pictures, you can see what has stood the test of time. We have to keep in mind that "trends' are marketing ploys to encourage spending. Some things resist, like stainless steel appliances 😂 They have been trying for years to get people to buy something different. The best way is to either go classic, like butcher block countertop, or just do trendy items in small, inexpensive increments. Like spending more on capsule wardrobe pieces and go cheap on an outfit you only wear once or twice. 😊❤
If you add a narrow piece of molding trim to the shelves abut an inch or two from the wall you can stand plates up. That's how I have plates on my shelves. I also routed a little groove.
Nice. Stuff all over the counter gives me anxiety. I don’t like upper cabinets around the sink and stove. I’m sure there are other claustrophobics like me.
Your kitchen didn't look bad before, but the changes are great (plus more functional, and dare I say , more grown up?). In love with that timber mirror shelf, love what you did with the lion's head, and plan to steal the idea of the 3 small artworks on a chain for a narrow section in my kitchen. This video was worth the wait ❤
Thanks Gabby! And no I don’t think it was bad before… but it’s fun to see my style evolve and mature. It’s definitely more grown up! I’m so glad you love the three art pieces on the chain! I’ve had to keep pressing them to the wall to make them stick… so let me know if you find a better way 😂
The kitchen looked fine if not a bit crowed before. Now, it looks very purposeful and organized and the colors flow around the room. I love the lion head on the range top. It has the character and the weight needed for the space.
Andrew, I absolutely loved your latest video. You have great ideas on using different materials and different methods of display. I am relatively new to your channel and I am learning so many things I recently made my first visit to a restore absolutely loved it will visit again love you channel, and there is the added benefit of watching you and your handsome man😊
I liked the kitchen before but the after truly showed how much more organised, clean and open it is.❤️

@@doloreskozlowskiyes! Instead it became sad black and white minimalism with wood paneling/shiplap. No actual farmhouse looks that way!

At 27:07 cant help thinking the lion should have something in his mouth, like a cigar or something, or a trumpet. idk. Nice makeover tho,, looks awesome!!
What a cool idea! I have one something like this hanging on my wall, might steal this idea.😊
The kitchen is so welcoming and beautiful! 🥰
Hi Andrew! The kitchen looks great! What a difference it makes swapping out a few things here and there. I love all the little details, and the new prints look beautiful in your kitchen. I liked it before, and I love it now! Great job! Thanks for sharing!❤
First time watching your videos. You have great style! I loved seeing you doing these projects with your dad!! So sweet❤
Great job! This feels like home.
Thanks Debbie! I think so too!
function first in a kitchen but you also made it beautiful! Love all the artwork!
If you add a narrow piece of molding trim to the shelves abut an inch or two from the wall you can stand plates up. That's how I have plates on my shelves. I also routed a little groove.
Well done! Love what you did! ❤
I love watching your style evolve.
Beautiful card. Love the colours and glitter effects.☺☺
Beautifully updated Andrew!!!❤
Nice. Stuff all over the counter gives me anxiety. I don’t like upper cabinets around the sink and stove. I’m sure there are other claustrophobics like me.
I love what you’ve done, feels lighter and brighter, and the wood pieces and earth tones make a subtle and natural addition.
Wow you’re almost at 30,000 followers. Well deserved. 🎉. Love the enhancements to the kitchen design.
Beautiful! I love your love for your things! Yep, sometimes it can be an issue, but wow, when you reissued!!
In one word : Beautiful !!!!!!
It just all keeps getting better. Really excellent videography and editing at the end. Bravo!
Loved it before but now love it even more ❤
Andrew, I absolutely loved your latest video. You have great ideas on using different materials and different methods of display. I am relatively new to your channel and I am learning so many things I recently made my first visit to a restore absolutely loved it will visit again love you channel, and there is the added benefit of watching you and your handsome man😊
It’s amazing ❤ all the special details are wonderful. You are SO good at what you do. Congrats and enjoy 😊
Looks great, cozy, functional, welcoming, and not boring!
Very pretty, it looks really nice. Love all the thrifted pieces.
