This is the remastered version of the original video plus an additional 5 minutes built into the story, new graphics, transitions, and elements to build a much stronger narrative laying out how Ferrari fell apart. I’m only a few minutes in... I can notice the difference. I’ve rewatched the first video so many times that this video feels so off putting to me. Maybe it’s because it’s different. I really like the first one. It may just be me but I prefer the first one. The wording is slightly different in this and I feel it was better worded the first time. Still a great video idea and love the work ethic.
@@FUELBandicoot that's actually super common. and really good to hear. it happens a lot with remasters - this is my first on this grand a scale but if you liked the first version, the second feels worse. that's why I had to add to the narrative. with more data and cleaner arcs - this one is actually much better. but it's because you're only through the players act. which doesn't change. you'll see how much the narrative changes. I got a ton of incredibly feedback talking about how I underplayed Leclerc and you all were totally correct. I showcased Seb a bit much in my first one. but this one has a clear split. Plus, it's got new graphics and aesthetics. on top of that, it's not as creepy of 29 minutes no music haha I strategically added ambient music for effect where appropriate. but even that is up to taste. I spent a full day on pure music though so rest assured each second included is for a reason. AND lastly (sorry), when so many give the same feedback, I owe it to you to do my job and reproduce it. all that said, thank you for letting me know where you stand! I like hearing it all bad and good :)
The only way Ferrari can turn this around is to change the way they call team orders. None at the beginning of the season. And make it known that expect clean racing between the team mates. And make it clear what the consequences of playing dirty with each other is. Once the season is 75% over if it's necessary then instigate team orders. But not before. Can they do it? I don't think so. But if they want to win something serious has to give.
@@grannieannie1371 I think most will! thank you for your feedback. as for your comment, I think you are also correct. Ironically I think this was necessary frankly. Seb needs to understand he's not the quickest. and that's okay. bc he can be if he chooses. or maybe he can't but if he didn't drive insecurely, he would have beaten Leclerc despite not being quicker over one lap. Thank you for the insight!
Saiful Aimran It seems like they have a kill witch on the pit wall. I know that’s ridiculous sounding but damn it was two for two on the disobeying. Hmmmm🤔
@@onlysatyrn bottas has to be the most disciplined interms of team orders. Constantly yielding to Lewis without hesitation "for the good of the team". I find that admirable. And a reason why I support him
Ferrari is well known for treating their engineers, drivers and employees like disposable garbage. I believe the problem comes from the inside. Well done video!
@@CYMotorsport Well, they forced their employees to go to the Monaco GP few years ago with money from the employee's own pocket (their families and all, hotels, meals, etc.) Otherwise, they would have been fired next day. Thats Ferrari's culture. I don't like them dudes. I like your channel even more, thought lol. Keep it up!
@@LeoCharles it's 2 am here if I go down that rabbit hole I'll be up all night haha I'm going to pretend i didnt just read that though haha that stuff irritates me. I'm not a purposefully cynic, maybe more a contrarian. and I def don't hate Ferrari. just hate BS. and they are spewing a lot.
@Yash Nayak I got it from this guy's channel, but cant find the video where he mentioned it /watch?v=mZWAt6kTDCc and I think it is also mentioned on the book: The Mechanic. Soon as I find the video, I will get back to you. Also, Ferrari doesnt let their employees buy Ferrari cars they build but i guess that one is understandable lol
not really. The one and only problem is that Ferrari hasn´t the right people together to beat Mercedes technically. That made them chose the semi-legal way. They concentrated too much on it. And now that the semi-legal way is made illegal, the whole concept has collapsed. The duel Vettel vs Leclerc has nothing to do with it. Even without Vettel, Ferrari and Leclerc will massively struggle in the coming years.
segoiii Ferrari cheated in order to compete with Mercedes and got caught by Red Bull and Ferrari has been rubbish since. They are having a lot of internal issues as we currently see in 2020 which ironically is the point of this video.
Imagine having a car that is so fast, there is ongoing suspicion on its legality by the time the next season comes around. Imagine having a 4 time world champion and one of the most talented young drivers since Verstappen. Imagine beating out the 5 time world champion on qualifying, a man known for his qualifying. Imagine having all of that and losing both championships because your team orders are being made by an idiot and putting constant pressure on your world champion who is known for turning into a bayblade under pressure
It's ludicrous. They have all the tools there. A 4 time champion (I don't care what anyone says, vettel hasn't "lost it") AND a clear future champion in Leclerc with blistering speed and a car that's a fucking rocket but they keep making mind boggling strategy decisions and team orders
why is germany the blame for everything even when he does good it’s something about germany he’s over germany the car just didn’t work for him the first 7 races the rear was stable then in france they changed the way the car handled then in singapore is where the brought more downforce and made the rear stable again
he's had a "Germany" since 2015 unfortunately. I think Leclerc broke him. which is no small task. There's no where to run he's at the top. reminds me of Rocky when he was rich and was fighting Drago hahah I'm a dumb american i know. But he had to train in Russia and used more old school tactics to freshen up how soft he got after winning. Seb needed this. he's never stuck around after getting beaten like this bc it's only happened once and he ran. now for the first time we'll see a response. I personally think he'll surprise people. or he won't and he should be gone. either way, 2020 is make or break and I'm stoked for it
@@CYMotorsport I just meant he hasn't looked like a serious contender for WDC since Germany 2018. He's obviously made plenty of mistakes in other years too. I mean the one race he won this year was because the team strategy favoured him. Both Ferraris have had some reliability issues and bad luck but compared with Leclerc his season has been pretty poor. I wonder if he's still got the hunger for another championship?
@@CYMotorsport I mean you can't deny how huge of an impact Germany 2018 had on his driving in 2018 and probaobly even in 2019 The man was completly broken after that loss which impacted the rest of the 2018 season Then the very next year his best friend on track is no longer his teammate, his new teammate is more then keen on competing with him and Ferrari is no longer considering him the only number 1 driver and Ferrari is metting with his biggest rival for his own seat, on top of telling him he has only 5 races to keep his job. 2018 and 2019 broke him. He will either go into 2020 as a complete beast or he'll probaobly never recover
@@boltmix7294 I agreee with your final assessment. it'll be more pronounced than ever bc what you feel for sure is no matter what Leclerc is coming out hot. but do you think his 2015-18 seasons just as a while changed him? unpopular thought but having Kimi as his teammate was the worst thing humanely possible for Seb on his title hunt
When Ferrari was at its best with Schumacher, he had Brawn and Todt on his side. Brawn and Todt made the team a well oiled machine. Vettel didnt have any such support.
@@philliphead8760 I agree 100%...They were dominant when the had a mixture of people from different countries running their team...Now,trying to make it all Italian is not working out well for them.
Mattia listen to someone else?? What a world that would be . But who knows maybe 2020 he will keep his word and not make calls from the wall though I doubt it
I once heard that Arrivabene actually tried to dial back Leclerc's contract before he was sacked from the team in late 2018, and that it didn't happen for pure respect for the then recently deceased Marchionne, who made the call to hire Charles, with an explanation along the lines of "Remember McLaren in 2007? It's going to happen all over again. Should Ferrari decide to keep Leclerc under their wing, perhaps he should replace Vettel of all people". Also, by the time I read that story, Germany had already happened (as always, it all comes back to that damn race), so Vettel's stake at Ferrari was already in question. They say that you cannot afford to have two numero uno drivers in the same team. Top drivers are selfish, they want it all for themselves, and should they feel threatened about their position within the team, they WILL become vocal about it. Look no further than Hamilton vs Alonso, and then Rosberg, but also Prost and Senna, Mansell and Piquet, Pironi and Villeneuve, the list goes on. And out of all teams to do so, Ferrari is actually the worst in that respect, because they usually take matters into their hands, and when that happens, it all goes south. Austrian GP, 2002, or Germany 2010, for instance.
yeah I agree. but I refuse to accept. do you think there's an answer? can two top drivers get alone? why don't two top drivers from other teams not as big a deal? I know thats rhetorical and straight forward I'm just genuinely playing this out.
With rewarding Binotto for his elimination of Arrivabene, Ferrari set itself up to fail for season 2018-2019. Not only was Binotto now fulfilling a double-role (Technical Director ánd Team Manager, which really isn't a good thing), he didn't have any experience in running a team. On top of that Ferrari had had disappointing seasons, putting a lot of pressure on the Team Manager, something Binotto seems to have seriously miscalculated. For me it's clear that Binotto hugely overreached and therefore set himself up to fail, and fail he did. First Binotto rather irrationally backed Vettel as the no 1 driver. When it was obvious that LeClerc consistently got way more performance out of the car, Binotto reluctantly switched to LeClerc for the no 1 driver position, only to see Vettel fight back, which caused Binotto to back Vettel again. Confused? So were both Vettel and LeClerc. It was a mess and it showed in the team-strategy, or rather lack thereof. The crashes and ultimately the Brazil incident were inevitable due to Binotto's faillure as Team Manager. The Suzuka incident should have resulted in a black flag for both Ferrari's: the team deliberately kept LeClerc on track in the hope that it would severely compromise Hamiltons race and that should never be allowed. The penalty the FIA rewarded Ferrari with was laughable. My conclusions for the season (for what it's worth): 1. Ferrari had a car that was difficult to drive, which suited LeClerc way better than it did Vettel 2. Binotto in a double-role as both Technical Director and Team Manager was a huge mistake 3. Ferrari's strategy department keeps failing consistently 4. Team orders frustrated both drivers and created an unnecessary rivalry 5. On top of that came the "fuel flow meter" controversy, again something Binotto was ultimately responsible for
what do you think if they move the aero loads to the back like Neweys RB8? I think thats where Mattia will finally earn his millions. they identified the problem. while I don't think he's a good manager of people from just what I see which is limited admittedly, I do truly think he's very capable of delivering a solution to an issue he knows is present.
@@CYMotorsport I think we will see some improvement in close racing, but there's still a long way to go. A lot of the Hermann Tilke tracks are simply not very well constructed for overtaking, something the FIA/F1 conveniently ignores. Personally I would rather see a ban on all the technical gizmos on the steering wheel. To me it simply isn't normal that drivers are busier with setting up the car for each corner than they are racing and I think that without those very complicated systems the different chassis would be far better matched. Now it's more a question of who has the best gizmos. Binotto should have either stuck to being Technical Director or fully made the change to Team Manager, not try to do both. Personally I agree that he doesn't seem to have the people managing skills to be a good Team Manager. As to the Technical side: he seems to be capable, but as I'm convinced he sabotaged Ferrari's 2017-2018 season in order to eliminate Arrivabene, the guy is too ambitious for his own wellbeing. He should stick to being be a very capable Technical guy with somebody supervising him to keep his ambition in check.
@@CYMotorsport Well, look at it like this: when Ferrari appointed Arrivabene as Team Manager he made it clear it wasn't his choice. And he had a rough start, because Ferrari was in it's usual Italian messed up state. Slowly but surely Arrivabene turned it around and Ferrari F1 started to perform better. There were still the often uncomprehensible strategical decisions, but overall there was improvement. Ferrari started the 2017-2018 fairly well, their car was immediately competitive and they were battling with Mercedes. But with each upgrade that came from Maranello, the gap between Ferrari and Mercedes grwe wider. Logically Arrivabene tought that meant Mercedes was making even bigger improvements and he did the best he could. But as the season continues he realised there was something not right. At his adamant request, the team removed all the upgrades and basically went back to the season start set-up. Immediately the cars were much faster That on itself would have been reason for many teams to have a good look at their Technical Director, but not at Ferrari. Binotto seems to have some powerful protectors within Ferrari, so even though Binotto sabotaged Ferrari's season, it was Arrivabene who was sacked because of it. So yes, that feud goes deep, although Arrivabene never said too much about it, being the gentleman he is. The problem with an all Italian Ferrari F1 seems to be that Italians do not want to take orders from Italians: it's a lot of bickering and second-guessing to and fro. It's telling that Ferrari was mostly run by foreigners during their successperiods.
Absolutely agree with you. I heard people say that Binotto would be a great team leader because he's an engineer... Say what? Just because you're good at one thing doesn't make you good at anything else. Anyway, I was distinctly unimpressed by him from the off. I gave him a pass for his wishy-washy statements at the beginning of the year. He can't be expected to be 100% fluent in another language after all. But it soon became clear that he was saying what he meant and I thought that it didn't bode well. I was right, sadly, because he's absolutely not doing the team any favours.
good I'm glad. sorry it took so long mate. this was by far the most delicate story I've told and has massive implications even on anything I say going forward so I needed time to retell parts more fairly and not put my foot in my mouth so to speak haha but always provide feedback no matter how it sounds. I can always tell someone being helpful vs spiteful. it's rare but obvious even in frustrated moments someone just trolling. so lay it on me, always!
Us old timers remember Ferrari in 1982. By mid season their car was by far the best on the track, but the team badly handled team orders at Imola and let their two drivers not speaking to each other. At the next race Gilles Villeneuve was killed. At the German race Pironi broke both his legs. Ferrari lost both their drivers, missed one entire race, and had five races with only one driver and yet still won the constructors championship. Pironi missed the last five races but still finished second in the drivers championship, only five points behind Keke Rosberg. Had Ferrari been clear about their team orders at Imola, or had they sat both drivers down after the race and drawn a line under the incident, then Gilles may well have not crashed and would have walked that championship.
Feels bad man. Feels bad 😕 I've seen a lot of F1 racing from the past and great stories that go with them. Its been a nice fill. Great work on the video again. Top shelf!
Schumacher's combined genius with his engineer went straight from Ferrari to Mercedes. Truly a legend and legacy that will never be repeated despite having amazing ripple effects on the entire sport as a whole.
Ferrari digging their own grave. Very poor management of their drivers. I don't see Vettel & Leclerc come to terms in the future. I think 2020 is going to be Vettel's last season at Ferrari considering Charles lengthy extension. Red Bull might get an advantage out of this & be a serious challenger to Mercedes in 2020.
I USED to think that. like 12 hours ago I changed my mind after finally finishing. but I'm a major believer in Adrian Newey so I think they are low key the future
Ferrari did 2019 backwards, giving team orders at the start and letting them race a bit more towards the end. It should be the other way around, letting them race at the start of the season and as the season progresses and takes shape, then you enforce team orders if necessary in order to aid the championship.
I think the car will bring them together. for as negative as everyone thinks I am on Ferrari, my part 2 spoiler alert is polar opposite to this. I think the formula 1 right there and they'll actually shock everyone in 2020
11:22 this also.. Vettel is messing up half his races for seasons and Leclerc makes one bad mistake and everyone is like ''You see!! He lacks experience?!'' Vettel made much more beginners mistakes this season..
That’s fair. My only push back there is Vettel has made thousands of good decisions to a few bad ones. Leclerc NO DOUBT will be making thousands more good ones. But to usurp Vettel at Ferrari in just five races, wouldn’t you agree he would need to be perfect? I know exactly what you mean though. My take on it wasn’t to say Leclerc isn’t ready, it was solely to say he doesn’t deserve that role bc he gave me them the doubt. It just didn’t help his case. But I agree with you people who used it to say he’s not proven that’s unfair. But I think th it’s exactly what leadership did. I felt he was ready in China frankly
@@CYMotorsport Thing is they say Ferrari needs a reliable leader and by this incident Leclerc showed he wasn't reliable. But can we say that Vettel IS that reliable leader? I feel I don't even need to answer that one.. Love your video btw. Nice work.
Thanks Euzlid. They are for sure my favorite to produce. Once the season starts I'm in race reporting nonstop so this framework except much shorter analysis of course haha but until then, just trying to grow the channel to really challenge how formula 1 is retold. I'll keep improving!
It seems inevitable that Seb will leave Ferrari at the end of next season. But hearing Ferrari say that the new car will be designed to Sebs strengths will definitely add intrigue and fireworks to the internal politics of the team. I CAN'T WAIT to see what happens next. 2020 should be a awesome season for F1
couldn't agree more. I was guilty of thinking 2020 would be lame. but working on this and part 2, it's shaping up to be the best of the hybrid era in fact!
Ferrari needs to get their sh*t together this season. What happened last season with drivers not trusting each other, drivers not trusting the team, and ridiculous team orders was the product of the management. There's no way they can win championship like this
Many people seem to be hating this remaster, I think that is because in the previous one, the video was just a tad bit more sympathetic towards Leclerc and we didn't have the few extra facts that we got towards the end of the season. Nevertheless I actually enjoyed this version more than the first and can't wait for part two! One thing that people aren't understanding from this video is that Leclerc has nothing to lose compared to Seb. He has no titles, never been a top three car before, etc. So even if this season went a bit more poorly, people would have understood it as being part of his first year and let him off and have a second chance for the next season. But for Seb, it is like the battle for his career to stay alive! He has a history to live up to and that is a VERY VERY huge burden. It is almost like what happened to Schumi after joining Merc and surely Seb doesn't want that to happen him! I really wish Ferrari the best of luck, because they really need all that they can get!
that's precisely it. by many, it's still only like 4 downvotes but even just talking to people, I change the story dramatically I'm glad you noticed. i didn't really feel comfortable repeating the same words seemed like a waste of time. but if you came from the other version I think it was too Vettel centric. what you highlighted was my underlying little secret motive. I wanted you to feel that palpable break before we got to Seb. it's how it played out in real time, too. Seb sat on his hands until Canada despite knowing this was the fight of his life. he had a major legacy to protect. It wasn't until Monza I feel like Seb realized: "It's not that Leclerc is trying to challenge my legacy, he's trying to build his own". you also make an incredibly point on Schumi. it was heart breaking I'm sure to watch Nico do that to Schumi considering how involved he was with Vettel's career even as a boy. To be fair to Nico, he had his own legacy to secure. The wild card is Mattia. he has the power to guide Vettel in a positive way or stir the hornets nest. but it CAN be turned around but the buck stops with whatever Mattia does next.
@@CYMotorsport I think both drivers are equally worthy of a championship and if Ferrari make a nice car, I hope Mattia doesn't kill one man's career for the success of another. I hope we see the best ending possible. But, right now Mattia looks like he enjoys seeing the two dig a grave for each other more than the fans do!
Fantastic stuff. I've lived through a few Ferrari cycles...the 80's peak and slump, ruining Alboreto's career...the brief, hopeful uptick of 1989-90 and one of the worst slumps, ruining Alesi's career. I'm just glad they haven't really had another drift into midfield. You've set out the dynamic between LeClerc and Vettel really well here...and it's hard to see that changing.
Fantastic to hear your nuance. It’s those who chime like you I can take on the deeper parts of Ferrari. No one will watch those haha but it’ll be a nice challenge . Gilles and Jody both have been two of my favorite drivers. I’ll be doing F1 rivals series starting with Mika and Michael then moving to Gilles and Didier. I think you’ll really enjoy the later. I just have been working on it a while bc it needs to be done tastefully as you know better than me
24:36 "Despite Sebastian being a row ahead at the start, they actually found each other at the end." I dont think this is right. I think Seb started 6 rows in front of Leclerc. Leclerc had a penalty in that race. He qualified 4th, but got kicked back to 14th for too many power units
Ferrari’s problems were two-prong in my opinion. Binnoto didn’t really take control of the team assertively like he obviously should’ve. That led to a hungry rookie think he ran things. That should never have been allowed. Leclerc is fast but he should have been checked before it got to the point where everyone was just doing whatever they felt like at the moment.
I think Vettel's insecurities are very manageable. he played his part there's no doubt. and I don't blame Leclerc. he's quick. he's in a ferrari. he wants to max his car out. but he shouldn't be the adult in the room to your point. every driver wants control of their own destiny. it should never ever be allowed or even alluded to they earn that. it's the team's call and the team's call alone. anything more, and like Toto said in the video, slippery slope leads to constantly moving the goal posts
You can't blame ferrari for supporting a young talented driver they love having him instead of him going to another team. Vettles problem is his own. Be a great driver and get over it young drivers are the life blood
the rookie became hungry because over pumped by media after only 1 full season. Ferrari could have kept LEC in Alfa Romeo one year more. They didn't remember about 2007 season with Alonso and the talented rookie Hamilton, when the internal war led to loose the Title for McLaren (ironically, in favor of Ferrari)
Could be fun to contrast this season against 2007 with Alonso having this pretender ... what was his name again ... Hamilton as his team mate. :) I love how you provide context for the collision in Brazil, sir. One cannot appreciate the complexity of the situation without it. Great job on the remaster. The audio is much better.
I'm glad you liked it. I really only got into this story at a deep level after my original onboard video that went viral. I'm never had so many interesting conversations at one time in my entire life haha holy moly. but ultimately I ironed out the story into this final product which I feel is infinitely better on all levels than the last video. thank you for the feedback - these are painful at times and i sometimes question why I do these long ones when it's constantly late night after night eyes burning but i really do return to these comments and why I add so much of my own thought to certain comments like this. need you guys to really understand how helpful your input and thoughts are. especially when critical. they are lights in an otherwise dim, difficult to manage world of content creation.
@@CYMotorsport 2007 wasn't really the same. Mclaren negated on their promise to Alonso when they promised him no. 1 in the team. Mclaren essentialy decided to back Hamilton. Ron Dennis' comment that "We weren't racing Kimi, we were racing Alonso." All but prove Mclaren were preferring Hamilton. It all culminated in Hungary were Hamilton refused to honor a previously agreed decision to allow Alonso to pass costing Alonso his qualifying. This resulted in Alonso retaliating by keeping Lewis in the pitlane. Both were in the wrong. Sadly, its rare to see an unbiased story about Hungary 07 since most people tend to skim over the fact Lewis started the trouble.
imagine how different that season might have played out if charles had gotten a win on the 2nd race of the season, instead of finishing 3rd because of a last minute issue...
Vettel's 2019 season was absolutely horrendous. I have said this before and I'll say it again but if Seb wasn't a 4 time champ Ferrari would have sacked him a long time ago. Personally I think 2020 will be an incredibly interesting season to watch as it is a make or break year for Vettel. I honestly can't see his contract being renewed unless he's not only beating Leclerc but also taking the fight to Mercedes.
Or in the least, know they SHOULD be #2. I say that bc if Dany Ric does go to Ferrari I’m certain he’ll pretend he gets it but low key will be trying to find ways to casually become #1
It’s crazy how quickly Ferrari turn on their drivers. The Vettel-Ferrari relationship in 2020 is beyond toxic, and although it was a long time coming, the situation seemed to emerge so fast!
I agree with you completely as we discussed in the comments on other videos. I would like to add that I really don't envy Seb. Quite frankly he won 2 of the toughest and most nerve wracking championships ever (2010 & 2012) but then the hybrid era comes along, Red Bull and later Ferrari just could not deliver. It would chip away anyone's confidence to be honest. It's easier for the other drivers. He is the only one who is expected to go after Mercedes. I just hope he will muster one more championship to round off his career because really, he won in the era of titans, twice, and it would really be a disservice to his talent and driving ability to have his career end with a whimper rather than a bang.
The team orders for Seb thing had started long before Charles came in - they were doing it to Kimi the whole time and they basically drove him out because he was too stubborn.
I'll be mixing them in! the more I've been able to improve graphics ironically the less difficult it becomes to make the videos. so as long as this channel keeps reaching people, I can keep creating! I appreciate the support and feedback :)
your reviews give me the most depth while still being balanced ... out of all F1 channels that i watch (which is plenty)! How come you only have 25k subs, i have no idea...
Head down and keep pushing 😁 two months ago people used to say that about why I only have 5,000. And by the break, people will say that about 50,000. I’m thankful for your trust in letting me create and following me through the narrative. Hopefully I’ve proven with the increased support, it buys me the time to appropriately tell a balanced story. As you just identified, that’s by far the hardest part with all of this. So thank you it’s your comments likes shares and sub that alert RUclips I have content they want to recommend to others. But at the end of the day, entertaining you in an objective way I’d priority one. So long as I am committed to that, I feel fulfilled and don’t really watch the sub count
@@CYMotorsport oops i realized havent yet subbed, *facepalm*, just did! And forget about entertaining us, think of it's as just a side-effect of your thorough well-researched journalism, not the goal, this stuff goes beyond entertainment. Keep it up!
This is quite a paradoxical situation, wherein two drivers meant to push each other to their limits ended up imploding in their team's faces. Compare this to Mercedes's past few seasons, and one can make a strong argument in favour of "stability is key" in modern F1 racing. Do you think Ferrari's 2019 season will dissuade team bosses from opting for exciting driver lineups like Hamilton-Alonso (2007) in the 2020s?
this question. alteast once a day I sit and just think through it haha It's the basis for my next video about Ferrari. but, spoiler and short answer, I think it actually CAN be done correctly. I thik seb has extra baggage and leclerc is in under an especially large amount of pressure but my take has always been, leclerc wants to trust seb and deep down seb enjoys the fight, the wild card I truly believe is the politics. but, the reason I really do think 2020 will be night and day and they'll really challenge Merc is Ferrari rarely make a giant mistake twice. and what makes Mattia not the best managing them, he's INCREDIBLE at finding the solution to the cars problem. if they move the aero back and root the base, I think Leclerc is the most adaptable driver on the grid hands down. he'll be lightening. and the rear aero is why Seb was unbeatable in early 2010s. it's why he spins so much today. just muscle memory gets on the throttle like he's in the RB8. this feels like the short answer to me, maybe not, but it's not only possible, it's ATTRACTIVE. But you can't add incremental stress. You'd have to have a seasoned personality to manage the politics on their behalf and protect them so they can focus on driving not the optics of radio . what do you think?
@@CYMotorsport It's true Ferrari won't make the same big mistake twice, but three things need to happen now: 1) Seb needs to swallow his pride and admit there's a real challenge coming his way, and he's got no one to hide behind. 2) Charles, for all his pace, needs to understand he's not quite the leader yet and needs to build a healthy working relationship with Vettel. 3) Mattia needs to use this unique dynamic to extract the best out of his drivers. He's smart, he should be able to figure it out. I feel if these three players play their role, Ferrari will be unstoppable in 2020. These are just the thoughts of a recent F1 fan (2016 onwards), feel free to supplement them!!

I just started to view the formula 1.Its my opinion that trust in each other makes you a team, Your video really shows that the ego has taken the goal of racing to a immature way of life. Drivers should always beware of each other . Their lives verses ego. Yes it’s important to win and winning with your teammates should speak for itself. I look forward to your insight. Thank you, Bob
I think Vettel finally found a driver who has the talent and is willing to risk it all. This was needed. If Mattia stays out of the way, they’ll be constructors champions. I have predicted as much in my preseason rankings!

Most engineers will agree; leadership and human management is a different skill set. Treatment and emotions are important variables that get treated as line noise. Bravo for pointing this out.
I for one hope Ferrari carry on as they did 2019. That shit was hilarious! It got to the point where I wasn’t watching to see who won, I was watching to see how Ferrari messed up!
On retrospect. I think that because of the F1000's horrific (for Ferrari) pace and the fact that Seb knew that he had nothing to lose, with Ferrari publicly announcing that Seb would be out before the first GP. I think that situation has really mended the relationship between Seb and Charles. One thing that Seb said that has stuck with me was that when asked about how he feels about Charles, he replied "...I see myself in him..."
I'm glad you enjoy it! I actually hear that a lot about controlling the narrative in Italy especially. when i look at views for this video, italy in particular are sky high. I have a part 2 coming soon where I actually think they will succeed in 2020 as much as it looks like i dont like ferrari haha welcome!
CrankyYankeeF1 sometimes it gets cringy while you’re watching tv,and the reporters clearly lie about Ferrari, they always talk about the positives, they refuse to be honest and you can see that on their faces. They only do that because otherwise they wouldn’t be invited to Ferrari’s journalists dinner at the end of the year, you know...
Antonio Buccheri bingo. But I can’t be bought haha you can ask anyone following this channel since the beginning aka since months ago haha but in a similar way, RUclips’s algorithm suppressed a lot of my content bc I went against the F1 happy vibes, no depth content. I had like 400 subs less 61 days ago. Only reason I know that is bc the Brazilian GP almost 2 months ago exactly . My videos finally broke through so it looks like I came out of no where but I don’t mind telling it like it is but I also don’t attack drivers for fun. I don’t like any of them I just love F1 to my core. Welcome friend!
Baku shunt was a team issue too! He shunted on medium tires instead of sonfts because he was so fast. he had been going on softs all the time and it was just that little bit of inexperience. It's a 50:50 fault team:leclerc if u ask me. Some commentators stated so too. I love you scepticism about the December comments! Didn't know and it's not sensable leading into the new year so there is evidence for the same struggle. And you explain it oh so well! So sad for the two (as recciardo also said with his history of a young driver) such a minor touch! Keep it up!
glad you enjoyed that addition! and yeah the only reason I focus on that Baku and am hard on him is because he was pushing so hard on the yellows despite not needing to. also that was in a part of the track that is the tightest of the entire season. on top of that, there was already one wreck there and he himself had a lock up prior in that practice session on mediums. he knew better and was a mile ahead. but I should try to balance my criticism there you're right. I don't want to seem TOO harsh where I'm perceived as bias
@@CYMotorsport Kimi became WC with Ferrari before Vettel came over from Redbull to Ferrari. At that point Ferrari had a 1x WC and 4x WC as team mates and still they worked great together.
I really like when ferrari came back from SPA, Monza. But it was Singapore that went wrong. Not only team orders but also cheating on the car too which was huge let down. I really like your review. It's good.
Simply great video the quality of the approach and execution was amazing, it's very nice to listen to even if it's on the longer side. Your in depth view of the situation makes me see it from a different side and it makes me anticipate the Australian GP even more to see what's next for Sebastian and Ferrari.
I'm so thankful to hear that! tha'ts the goal. yes it's longer it's really only because I owed everyone this video. The facts and less opinion the story is really present, keep it up. Thanks. More successes. Cheers.
Thanks Sinister - I try really hard not to insert my bias. It's the one thing I think Formula 1 is infected with. I only care about the truth so I appreciate the nod from a long time fan!
Great video. I did subscribe. I've been a Ferrari fan for already 20 years, and I bleed Ferrari tbh. This was a very strange season, as many things could've gone differently for Ferrari, in the better way. I was defending Seb the whole season until Brazil. I knew Charles was quick, I was there myself at Monza to witness the first win in 10 years and in that moment I was sure that Charles is special. In Singapore, I think it's still Vettel that deserved the win for his great outlap. One tenth slower and Charles would've been ahead without any controversies. So, what Binotto said was really strange to me. Like why? They're saying the 2020 car will suit Seb more and Matia comes with this strange statement? I think they've learned their lessons with the car in 2019 and the 2020 car will be a big step up in downforce, while with still the best engine, at least in terms of power. What I'm afraid of the most is if the car is championship worthy and both, Seb and Charles, will be on top of their games, this might damage their chances to win both titles and hande it on a plate to Hamilton and Mercedes. That will be the worst case scenario. In 2014-2016 Mercs had the luxury of being miles ahead of everyone else and their blunders and accidents didn't have a big impact in the championship. If the 2020 Ferrari proves to be a Merc beater, Mercedes will still be up there, strong as ever, then I don't know... Ferrari haters will be in for a treat in this case, while we might witness a bloodbath at Ferrari that might have a big impact on Seb's, Charles' and Binotto's future.
This is all great! i couldn't agree more. I've been calling it a "false negative" so to speak. which makes no sense I know but I think people who are on the same train in terms of the events will kind of get the sentiment. You make an especially good point about it suiting both. the fight will change from petulant orders to more wheel to wheel combat. ironically, I deviate from my typical cynical routine and like to think both drivers stop looking in their mirror and more toward the control line as they will be fighting for P1 next year not P3. I think this is year they break the dynasty and I don't say that lightly. the errors and issues exposed in this video and even in your comments, and why I agree so strongly even with the tone with you, is they are VERY fixable. but we must remember, now it's mattia's job too. I bet each choice won't be so cavalier now and he's going to forced to let them battle without orders to save his own seat. I couldn't be more excited. I'm making a follow up to this video basically laying all this out. it's a statistical hail mary to many. but I think there's a shot. but it wouldn't take much to dump it ALLLLL down the drain, either
Vettel was way faster than Leclerc in Sochi, it made 0 sense to swap positions at the time, especially considering that Lewis was only 5 sec behind Charles for the first 20 laps. I think Seb made the right call and if absolutely necessary they could have swapped positions at the end of the race.
Underrated fact about Vettel: He is one victory behind Niki Lauda for the second most wins with a Ferrari with 14, Michael holds the record with 72. If you include Vettel's win with Toro Rosso, he's tied with Lauda for the second most wins with a Ferrari engine with 15. Also: Leclerc is already tied with Kimi Raikkonen's 7 poles at Ferrari, after only one season!
Reading my mind Ayrton :) that's actually the route im taking part 2 of this video. they are less than a season away from strong results. they have the perfect tools. and I still think pound for pound best lineup
How do you not have way more subs, this video was way better than a lot of videos by people that have 100k and higher like this can go on Sky F1, as for the situation I see either Ricciardo replacing Vettel for 2021 or Vettel staying on as a clear number 2 until Mick Shumacher is ready or if Gio has a season like Leclerc had for Sauber and thoroughly beats Kimi, either way I see Vettel at Alfa or out of F1 in 2022 maybe 2023 depending how long it takes Mick Shumacher to be ready for Ferrari

Not helping I leave the fact that I’m overtly american in my channel name unfortunately not many think Americans can understand the sport haha I welcome the challenge. And thank you for the kind words. I’m with re: Gio! Mick needs super points though. Based on his current points it looks like a top 10 will do it but that’ll be pretty difficult considering his car although he has gotten faster

Man, I started watching F1 at Monza 2019, but I had no idea Leclerc and such a unlucky and difficult first part of the season! Your story telling is brilliant!
Matthew the Cashew thanks Matthew - glad you liked it! Yeah A Leclerc fan boy is not something I I’m often called haha i just don’t like his driving style as it matches the words on the FIA handbook but it’s impossible to tell an objective story and not highlight the absurd disadvantage he started with. But it’s not a woe is him, he knew this would be like this to an extent. But if he won Bahrain we’d be looking at IMO totally different 2019. he likely would would have the confidence to not make the error and then win Baku and even Austria he would have likely been more aggressive. His home race Monaco he may not have won due to his lack of DF but he absolutely wouldn’t have missed quali if he was leading the championship and would have scored . Who knows what else!
Haha I call them “Post Mortem’s” too no one got it the first time haha. Yeah I’m doing part 2 to this shortly. I’m going to try to post it Thursday if I can get 2020 predictions out. Bc their will be public outcry about my choices. I’ll need to explain Ferrari separately
ExtremeDeathman - As long as Nicki was winning he tolerated the Austrian but when Nicki retired his car early at the 1976 Japanese Grand Prix Enzo was furious. He stuck it to Lauda the next season by firing his friend and #2 driver Clay Reggazoni, then hired Carlos Reutemann whom Enzo knew Nicki hated. Then demoted Lauda to #2. Lauda left Ferrari for Brabham for the ‘78 season. Villeneuve he treated like a son and was the only driver Enzo displayed any noticeable feelings for.
I've been following F1 for forty years and in that time Ferrari have always been this way, so nothing surprises me. I am thankful that Mattia Binotto is willing to take part in interviews however, unlike his predecessor. An excellent and informative video, you have gained a subscriber. 👍🖖

I'm actually never one to be satisfied with something - I almost always want more time or hate it after all the hours I put into them. But this was the first since I made the channel I felt mostly good about the overall narrative, cohesion, audio, and editing. I'm really proud of this entire package. especially because you all were so kind to be patient and see the potential from such a lackluster previous attempt in V1.O. but I can't be too critical it's evidence when you all talk, I listen in all facets of these videos and why I believe in responding very intentionally to each comment I possibly can. so thank you for giving it a second chance. I think there's a story to tell here

We need a part 2 of this and everything that has happened this season... good thing you were prepared for the worst. What an awful season Ferrari have had
the problem with a team dropping a driver like that, failing to support, undercutting triumphs... is they know they will eventually be like that and will either be a) under too much pressure to perform properly or b) perform really well but suddenly stop when new talent is brought up.

Oh and I liked this version better.
@@grannieannie1371 I think most will! thank you for your feedback. as for your comment, I think you are also correct. Ironically I think this was necessary frankly.
I severely agree
segoiii Ferrari cheated in order to compete with Mercedes and got caught by Red Bull and Ferrari has been rubbish since. They are having a lot of internal issues as we currently see in 2020 which ironically is the point of this video.

That bayblade comment made me laugh hard
Ow it hurts
turning into a beyblade 😂😂😂
It's ludicrous. They have all the tools there. A 4 time champion (I don't care what anyone says, vettel hasn't "lost it") AND a clear future champion in Leclerc with blistering speed and a car that's a fucking rocket but they keep making mind boggling strategy decisions and team orders
What is a bayblade?

You mean Leclerc battling Ferrari
Unless Vettel has some major turnaround this year I can't see him being with Ferrari in 2021. I don't think he has gotten over Germany 2018
why is germany the blame for everything even when he does good it’s something about germany he’s over germany the car just didn’t work for him the first 7 races the rear was stable then in france they changed the way the car handled then in singapore is where the brought more downforce and made the rear stable again
he's had a "Germany" since 2015 unfortunately.
@@CYMotorsport I mean you can't deny how huge of an impact Germany 2018 had on his driving in 2018 and probaobly even in 2019
The man was completly broken after that loss which impacted the rest of the 2018 season
Then the very next year his best friend on track is no longer his teammate, his new teammate is more then keen on competing with him and Ferrari is no longer considering him the only number 1 driver and Ferrari is metting with his biggest rival for his own seat, on top of telling him he has only 5 races to keep his job.

My conclusions for the season (for what it's worth):
1. Ferrari had a car that was difficult to drive, which suited LeClerc way better than it did Vettel
2. Binotto in a double-role as both Technical Director and Team Manager was a huge mistake
3. Ferrari's strategy department keeps failing consistently
4. Team orders frustrated both drivers and created an unnecessary rivalry
TJ Roelsma I feel like that Arrivabene fued goes DEEP. Seems highly believable, almost likely, what you’re saying haha
@@CYMotorsport Well, look at it like this:
when Ferrari appointed Arrivabene as Team Manager he made it clear it wasn't his choice.
Immediately the cars were much faster
That on itself would have been reason for many teams to have a good look at their Technical Director, but not at Ferrari.
Thanks for doing this remaster, I had a really hard time watching the previous video due to audio issues.
good I'm glad. sorry it took so long mate. this was by far the most delicate story I've told and has massive implications even on anything I say going forward so I needed time to retell parts more fairly and not put my foot in my mouth so to speak haha but always provide feedback no matter how it sounds.
That moment it's already April and you said: '21 races'... Right in the feels
Hahaha dated not too well
Feels bad man. Feels bad 😕 I've seen a lot of F1 racing from the past and great stories that go with them. Its been a nice fill. Great work on the video again. Top shelf!

Ferrari politics have always been the biggest BS
I've seen this a long time coming
Fabian Holoflux this has to get old for Ferrari fans
Schumacher's combined genius with his engineer went straight from Ferrari to Mercedes. Truly a legend and legacy that will never be repeated despite having amazing ripple effects on the entire sport as a whole.
Mattia just isn’t the head guy. Never liked him coming in, no personality and no natural leadership.
It’ll be fascinating to see how things go this season

Ferrari digging their own grave. Very poor management of their drivers. I don't see Vettel & Leclerc come to terms in the future. I think 2020 is going to be Vettel's last season at Ferrari considering Charles lengthy extension. Red Bull might get an advantage out of this & be a serious challenger to Mercedes in 2020.
I USED to think that. like 12 hours ago I changed my mind after finally finishing. but I'm a major believer in Adrian Newey so I think they are low key the future
@@CYMotorsport Well, you may have to change your mind again, now that Vettel is actually leaving Ferrari.
How does it feel, knowing you predicted the future?
Lol, this comment aged well.
holy hell you got that nearly perfectly, 2 years later and your prediction came true. Nice.
Ferrari did 2019 backwards, giving team orders at the start and letting them race a bit more towards the end. It should be the other way around, letting them race at the start of the season and as the season progresses and takes shape, then you enforce team orders if necessary in order to aid the championship.
3 years later, nothing has changed for Ferrari
I hope Leclerc and Vettel manage to maintain a positive relationship and I hope it’s not too late
I think the car will bring them together. for as negative as everyone thinks I am on Ferrari, my part 2 spoiler alert is polar opposite to this. I think the formula 1 right there and they'll actually shock everyone in 2020
It's too late
@@HandlesSuck123 Now it is too late.
Too late unfortunately 😔
Reza I guess we’ll see how this last season goes
Nice work.
Dani The answer lies with the car. It just didn’t suit Vettel’s driving style well at all.
Bethany Watters Ferrari went with a new aerodynamic philosophy in 2019 compared to previous years. Not every car drives the same dude

There's no way they can win championship like this
@JT he wouldn't cope with Max, I'm sure about that

Ferrari could've been proper championship contenders in 2019 had the engineers, strategists, and Binotto himself not messed up throughout the season
im seeing this video in september 2020 and this ting escalated real bad
This really didnt age well
Many people seem to be hating this remaster, I think that is because in the previous one, the video was just a tad bit more sympathetic towards Leclerc and we didn't have the few extra facts that we got towards the end of the season.
I just discovered you're channel, now I've spent 3 hours watching! Great content, keep up the good work :)
Very good video. I enjoyed it a lot. Great editing and sound quality.
They probably need to start fresh - keep one of the drivers, and fire Binotto
This year will say all
I mean, if we fire Leclerc, it would be an immediate failure with only Seb i think
i wish kimi was still with seb
Indeed but my homie needed freedom from team orders
yes seb had alot more peace in mind with kimi as a solid man
Yes right Vettel... Not Leclerc
Could be fun to contrast this season against 2007 with Alonso having this pretender ... what was his name again ... Hamilton as his team mate. :)
I love how you provide context for the collision in Brazil, sir.
This video has changed my perspective of the sport entirely
I'm going to to try and analyze the 2020 season as much as possible sitting at home
Do it!! I’ll be there with you. The entire “F1 Wars Playlist” attempts to analyze moments like this. Glad you enjoyed!
imagine how different that season might have played out if charles had gotten a win on the 2nd race of the season, instead of finishing 3rd because of a last minute issue...
Nice breakdown.. I never got to watch as much of the 2019 season as I would have liked so missed out on so much drama lol...
I think i'm going to do a full season review after I complete 2010 season
"Leclrec, Alonso behind is quicker"
What a pair that would be!!
Great vid about one of the most entertaining parts of the f1 season
It was even more fun to tell the second time adding a bunch more. thank you for your input!
For team chemistry, it is important to have a #2 driver who understands it's his role to support the team and the #1 driver.
I just hope he will muster one more championship to round off his career because really, he won in the era of titans, twice, and it would really be a disservice to his talent and driving ability to have his career end with a whimper rather than a bang.
agreed. that's what I see coming as well. if he's going down, it won't be quietly
I'm waiting for when your channel blows up. Just remember me who was there in the 10k club (5?).
I remember EVERYTHING :)
Styrian GP: how about no?
The team orders for Seb thing had started long before Charles came in - they were doing it to Kimi the whole time and they basically drove him out because he was too stubborn.
Lol, team orders comes in race, look at qualifying data.

Hopefully I can consistently set the bar higher. I look forward to the challenge.

your reviews give me the most depth while still being balanced ... out of all F1 channels that i watch (which is plenty)!
BTW, it was your Lewis vs Nico analysis vid. that YT algorithm threw at me, and after watching it non stop for 30mins - it blew me away and i knew i've stumbled upon some rare gold of YT's F1 content!
@@CYMotorsport It's true Ferrari won't make the same big mistake twice, but three things need to happen now:
1) Seb needs to swallow his pride and admit there's a real challenge coming his way, and he's got no one to hide behind.
Brilliant graphics, brilliant narrative. Don't know when you get time to live but all the thanks to you cus.

@@thedude8248 Both had their issues. But Seb had the pace in 2017 and esp 2018 but he made rookie mistakes. Seb just couldn't handle the pressure.
@@rumblefish9 In 2018 he became second with 80 point behind Hamilton who had a better car and a less chaotic team. He made some mistakes but did it matter in the end?
Now Astom Martin in 2021,lets see how it worls out with less toxic team...

This is so sadly truthful...unfortunately Italian Tv and media never dare to speak against Ferrari...so this video opened my eyes so much. Thank you!

Well thats kind! I look forward to proving you right :)
Welp, it's all coming to a head now. Vettel is out, and we have no idea where he will go next year, if anywhere at all. Sad times.
Ferrari is my team but 2019 killed my soul a little bit. Hoping if racing gets to happen this year they get it together. Both can compete and win.
I want to add, Vettel thinks Kimi was his perfect team mate. He said it in 2018 in a grill the grid video I think.
would you blame him for saying that? how many races was kimi winning putting pressure on him
@@CYMotorsport Kimi became WC with Ferrari before Vettel came over from Redbull to Ferrari. At that point Ferrari had a 1x WC and 4x WC as team mates and still they worked great together.
I really like when ferrari came back from SPA, Monza. But it was Singapore that went wrong. Not only team orders but also cheating on the car too which was huge let down. I really like your review. It's good.
thanks man I do my best to be as unbiased as possible. it shows so much more of the story from all sides. glad you liked it!

Josiah Petz It’s a great question I’m always trying to better understand and convert more on haha.
CrankyYankeeF1 I'm an American and a big Yankees fan as well, baseball was my favorite sport until I found F1 in late 2017 at the US gp
Josiah Petz oh I don’t care about baseball it’s more the fact that I’m cranky as hell at 4 am for free practice sessions 15 weekends out of the year. But I’m glad you found the channel now mate thats all that matters
Great video! I can't wait to see the post-mortem analysis of Ferrari's 2020 season.
With the possible exception of Gilles Villeneuve Enzo always treated his drivers like cattle. Old traditions die hard.
Bingo. Well see what Mattia does in 2020
He didn't treat Lauda like cattle, because Niki was able to build up sny team to championships...
sgtgrash yeah actually not many people have mentioned that. Even to Italian media not as many interviews came out of maranello. You picked a great time to subscribe! I’ve been busy with my biggest single piece of comprehensive work publishing tomorrow then I’ve got a bunch of time set up for the videos I’ve wanted to do for a few months now. Good to have ya! .
This video is much better, in sound quality and content quality
I'm actually never one to be satisfied with something - I almost always want more time or hate it after all the hours I put into them. But this was the first since I made the channel I felt mostly good about the overall narrative, cohesion, audio, and editing. I'm really proud of this entire package. especially because you all were so kind to be patient and see the potential from such a lackluster previous attempt in V1.O. but I can't be too critical it's evidence when you all talk, I listen in all facets of these videos and why I believe in responding very intentionally to each comment I possibly can. so thank you for giving it a second chance. I think there's a story to tell here
Considering we now are hearing rumours of Binotto being fired by Elkann, Ferrari CEO, it is highly possible we get the same situation again
Excellent video!
Thanks Jeffrey glad you enjoy this one :)
I didn't fully pay attention to the 2019 season. I was just eyeing who won races. This video has been enlightening. Well constructed.
I wouldn't mind you trying to explain Formula 1 for those who don't fully grasp the craft
I took a shot at it a couple weeks ago for beginners. It Was longer than I wanted but well received. I’d like to make a shorter one
@@CYMotorsport Will definitely check it out. I'm a fan of most sports in general but F1 and football (soccer) are the ones I grew up with. Unfortunately, I never had easy access to motorsport races after I moved to South Africa from Europe so never got to understand the tactics, rules, etc. fully.
