“How bad is Ferrari’s 2020 season?” Have you ever had those times in your life when it feels like everything you try do blows up in your face and every single thing that can possibly go wrong, goes wrong? That’s how I would describe Ferrari’s 2020 season.
the trend seems to be the worse it is, the more action they take. took 2014 for domenicali to leave and make bigger moves. took 1980 to ditch flat 12 for monster turbo. took 73 for Enzo to focus efforts. Took the early 90 ass kicking to get serious about aero.
Nah Williams are lucky they have a good engine this Season,if it had ferraris engine that would be a big L,Ferrari is crap they should technically be 3-4 worst
0:51 I also initially didn't know that Williams had won 9 constructor titles as I started watching F1 in 2007-2008 (also because I initially couldn't imagine that Toyota, their engine supplier then, could be faster than Ferrari;)

I think you overlooked one aspect in your analysis, or perhaps I missed it. The older points system in F1, due to awarding points to a far smaller part of the grid, had a tendency to enlarge the difference in points tally between the top teams and the midfield. So you can't really make a straightforward comparison based on the number of points scored between periods in which they used a different points system. A better approach would be to apply the same modern points system retroactively.

This season's Ferrari isn't that bad to be honest, at least in the beginning. Leclerc really outpaced the car and having 2 podium finishes on a car that on a regular basis can only fight for the bottom half of the top 10 cannot be classified as "one of the worst seasons". Compared to what they did last season this might be a huge downgrade but it's not the worst in my opinion
I've been an on again and off again F1 fan since a kid. Never liked Ferrari, but at the same time, understand they can't be in the shitter for a long time and will give credit where credit is due. Also love your content that you present in a very compelling, logical and concise manner. Even if people don't agree with what you say, what you present makes for a compelling argument, yet challenges us to think and look at the situation from many angles. You've definitely earned me as a subscriber despite not having been subscribed for a long time. Keep up the good work!! Also Cheers from north of the border in Canada
The 2020 season is easily the worst season Ferrari has ever had. Even their young supertalent LeClerc sounds kind of resigned with the lack of performance of the Ferrari. The causes for the bad performance are clear: severe loss of engine-power after the two cheating scandals (I joke to my son that Ferrari seems to have mounted the same engine as his Alfa MiTO 0.9 TwinAir Turbo ánd about the aerodynamic of a bus. In my opinion it's also clear who's responsible for this debacle: Mattia Binotto. Binotto has clearly shown that his coup against Mauricio Arrivabene was a powergrab that was way above his capabilities. He may be a decent Technical Director (although he deliberately sabotaged Ferrari's upgrade during Arrivabene's last season), he's definitely NOT a decent Team Manager. And I score him only as a decent Technical Director because both scandals ánd the horrible aero and chassis developement happened on his watch. The solution to this crisis at Ferrari is therefore also clear: fire Binotto, because demoting him to Just technical Director would probably have him sabotaging development again just out of spite, and hire a new Technical Director and a new Team Manager. Preferably one of the two would be a non-Italian, because it's been proven time and again that an all-Italian Ferrari is a disaster because of continuous infighting.
@@CYMotorsport Ferrari is traditionally based on factions. Binotto has the support of one of the dominant factions of this moment. As a faction doesn't want to (or can't) admit mistakes, they are kind of bound to keep on supporting Binotto.
@@GloomGaiGar Here's the facts: 1. Ferrari started off the season reasonably well 2. After the first Aero upgrade the car became somewhat more difficult to setup and the balance was harder to find 3. The second upgrade actually made it worse, while the Technical Director, one Mattia Binotto, claimed it performed better in wind-tunnel testing, yet the team couldn't get the setup right 4. After struggling again during a free practice, Arrivabene decided to do a reset and go back to the Areo package they had at the begining of the season to try and find out what or where they went wrong 5. The next free practice both Ferrari's were much faster, more stable and both drivers were way more happy with the cars than before. 6. Binotto was at the same time openly campaigning to get Arrivabene fired for his inability to get the maximum performance out of the cars, so he, Binotto, could become Team Manager. To me that paints a pretty clear picture.
I really appreciate the length of the videos, and how you dont fall into the "hey guys! welcome to my channnel!" You literally joke about the amount of stat time you have too deal with to make your videos. The only person even close is chainbear. And he produces videos at about the same rate. Your killin it nick.
Maybe I’ve got UK bias, but I really don’t get what the attraction is with Ferrari. For most of their history they’ve been in some sort of crisis, whilst throwing accusations and blame around...Ferrari in 1994, with Berger, Alesi, that amazing V12, shark nose and gold wheels is the only Ferrari you need concern yourself with...
I don't know if you are aware of the MBTI personality types, but I'm an INTP, so I'm a sucker for graphs, data, logics, and as an aspie, my special interest is motorsport, specially F1, so this is my favourite youtube channel ever. Thanks!
another great video. Does the point differential percentage from the constructor champs properly reflect how bad the Ferrari was or just how dominate the constructor champ was? i think the answer is both? id be curious to see how those 5 worst seasons using that comparison would compare to the mean or average points scored (by other teams) and if the results would be the same order. cheers! gotta go have to be up in 7 hours to watch the race tomorrow!
sounds mostly like the reverse metric. I can speak specifically off cuff to Ferrari. and estimate this based on other seasons. But 2002 and 2004 are likely going to be at the top of these lists as it relates to Ferrari
It was one of those questions that was floated to me so me being dramatic, I had to go deep to really get the story. They better hope for some real FIA change next regs change
@@CYMotorsport How do you think they'll do with the 2022 regs? I worry that them having to focus on fixing their current issues for 2021 might stunt development for the 2022 car.
Hello from 2022 and end of 2021 Season so in 2020 Ferrari had -337% deficit to winning team which would leave them still at 6th worth season ever but they bounced back in 2021 beating McLaren to 3rd in WCC in one of crazier season ever with point % deficit to winners being only -89.6% away from Mercedes which would put that right between 2005 and 1995 seasons at 25th worst season ever which is pretty good since they took a gamble with Sainz and he basically outshined Leclerc in 2021. Can't wait to see what 2022 with new regs has in store for us!
They were on the road to victory since 2016 and should/could have won in 2017 but from then to 2019 their strategy on race days were just bad. So bad that they are now a bottom team. It will take years to change.
I think Vettel also has a little animosity towards Ferrari. Not that it's undeserved, they really did him dirty. I've just noticed that he's maintained a 11th place, just outside of the points. Another great video, keep it up! It's a rough time to be a Ferrari fan, that's for sure.
can't highlight this enough. I'll never forgive Binotto for his comments about Seb and how he "let him win singapore". that shit drives me insane. i called it out last year in november and people accused me of stirring the pot. then after he wasn't honest about talking to seb about a contract (according to seb), I knew this was going to be a bad year
@@CYMotorsport I remember that. (not that it was that long ago) But that's the first big... drama thing?? while watching F1. (that was the first season I watched) Watching it all come to fruition is unique IMO. I'm telling you tho, that Ferrari is faster than Seb is driving it. He is maintaining a 11th-12th position, right outside the points, personally I think to stick it to the team for how they treated him.
Awesome content man!! There are still a few questions/aspects that can be explored though. 1. Ferrari has been one of the biggest spenders in F1 (kinda like Real Madrid), can they achieve the same success under the new budget cap (I don't understand it very well, but enough to know that it can make things difficult for the team) 2. How were others doing during that time, we know Williams was dominating, but now we have Mercedes, Redbull, McLearn, possibly Renault (with Alonso) and yet to see what Aston Martin can do. The competition seems to be a lot tougher to me. 3. Resources aside, they have been making blunders for quite a while. I mean WDCs like Alonso, Vet, and Kimi were unable to end that drought, that does say something about the team. Maybe the newfound "stability" will make the difference. Time will tell.
There are still quite a few races to go, and if others manage to improve their package which they seem to be doing faster than Ferrari, Lec and Vet might soon be finishing out of points more often. Kimi is already finishing ahead of them and so do the AT guys. Just a few lucky podiums still keeping them afloat.
your comment is what I fear for Ferrari. The best results have already happened and teams are improving. If ocon and gasly keep getting results they are firmly destined for p6 which would be a nightmare
I think this year's personally the word your Ferrari has had in terms of the amount of staff the amount of Technology available money spent 2 performance average
I’ve been a fan of Ferrari as a car brand for a good while. When I got into F1 this year that allegiance with the car brand translated to me aligning myself with the Scuderia. I eventually found out about the team itself (such as infighting). But the thing that resonated with me the most was how the team has the ability to inspire so much passion from ordinary people (and by extension an entire nation). Perhaps that’s a reason why the tifosi have existed and continued cheering even through Ferrari’s toughest years. This passion makes even small victories for the team such as Monza 2019 magical, and personally F1 fans don’t understand this enough, especially when they go on about how Ferrari fans will jump ship seeing their teams performance this year.
There’s a reason they manage to stick around. I criticize them often but I can also respect what it takes to survive as is the tone of this video. The next era I believe will be a sea of red wins
I'm just here to keep you all entertained Adarsh. More thankful for the passion of the community that can patiently work through the content with me. smaller audience but much more gratifying to me. thanks!

The sheer quality of this content is staggering!
I love that you included the GOAT Zidane front and centre of this vid!!
Dude , Seriously you're the best F1 RUclipsr ❤️❤️❤️
Preferably one of the two would be a non-Italian, because it's been proven time and again that an all-Italian Ferrari is a disaster because of continuous infighting.
but why do you think they haven't yet?
@@CYMotorsport Ferrari is traditionally based on factions. Binotto has the support of one of the dominant factions of this moment. As a faction doesn't want to (or can't) admit mistakes, they are kind of bound to keep on supporting Binotto.
Binotto is the new bogg of f1
"deliberately sabotaged Ferrari's upgrade" is this a known legitimate fact? that's a serious accusation
@@GloomGaiGar Here's the facts:
1. Ferrari started off the season reasonably well
2. After the first Aero upgrade the car became somewhat more difficult to setup and the balance was harder to find
3. The second upgrade actually made it worse, while the Technical Director, one Mattia Binotto, claimed it performed better in wind-tunnel testing, yet the team couldn't get the setup right
4. After struggling again during a free practice, Arrivabene decided to do a reset and go back to the Areo package they had at the begining of the season to try and find out what or where they went wrong
I appreciate it Henry! much more on the way my friend :)
Thanks!
You should really create a similar series to drive to survive. That would really awesome.
hopefully doing my "what drive to survive didn't tell you" video soon!
@@CYMotorsport im 100% sure everyone would watch that.
Man, your videos are next level.
Amazing!
another great video.
00:58 - I respect that Michael said "We did it!" and not "I did it!".
Great video as usual. I'd been wondering about exactly this, how bad this season is compared to their worst ever.
As an American fan of Ferrari for many years, it has been a tough many years. The same lately with the FIA WEC seasons.
Love this video, must have taken so much effort to make but I am glad you did
Always worth it! Thanks for the reminder :)
Hello from 2022 and end of 2021 Season
so in 2020 Ferrari had -337% deficit to winning team which would leave them still at 6th worth season ever
but they bounced back in 2021 beating McLaren to 3rd in WCC in one of crazier season ever with point % deficit to winners being only -89.6% away from Mercedes which would put that right between
2005 and 1995 seasons at 25th worst season ever which is pretty good since they took a gamble with Sainz and he basically outshined Leclerc in 2021.
Can't wait to see what 2022 with new regs has in store for us!
Love your content.......kudos 👍
Keep up the amazing work.
Could You Do The Story Of The Bahrain Grand Prix And Why It Has Been Held At Night?
Exceptional story telling. Give yourself a pat on the back for quality work. 👍
The conclusion aged like fine wine.
i'm so happy to see a new video, love your content mate :)
I love your videos even though I have very little knowledge of F1. Keep up the good work!
best kind of compliment to the story! good to have you Notux
Man, I have been seeing your videos for a while now but that Ferrari points graph gained you a sub!
Edit: Oh wait, I was already subscribed
Always good to have you Gibreel!
Awesome content man!! There are still a few questions/aspects that can be explored though.
1. Ferrari has been one of the biggest spenders in F1 (kinda like Real Madrid), can they achieve the same success under the new budget cap (I don't understand it very well, but enough to know that it can make things difficult for the team)
@@CYMotorsport Interesting times ahead for Ferrari
I genuinely watched you spy gate crash gate 2010 and 2012 videos today wondering wen u we’re gonna upload
haha I'm TRYING to shorten them but every time I go to write It always feels so cheap to not dig deeper. thanks for binging!
Another great doc-vid Thx Cranky!
I think this year's personally the word your Ferrari has had in terms of the amount of staff the amount of Technology available money spent 2 performance average
22:11 I would watch videos of every single one of those discontinued innovations in that list if you made em. :3 great video Nick!
I forgot I mentioned that haha the double chassis blows my mind to this day still haha cheers razeen!
Wow great video m8

The sheer passion cranky has for the sport is amazing ❤️❤️
I'm just here to keep you all entertained Adarsh. More thankful for the passion of the community that can patiently work through the content with me. smaller audience but much more gratifying to me. thanks!
Absolutely brilliant content 👌

Glad you enjoyed kelson!
I may not always agree with your points but usually by the end of it I agree. Keeps up the good work man I love to keep learning about F1 especially since I’m an newer fan!
great Video leanred quite alot about ferrari
one thing that bugged me is you Put Ronaldo in there but no MESSI, which statsically and in field perfeomance wise his better than Ronnie.
i have no idea as to how this popped up on my recommended because I know absolutely nothing about cars or racing, but it is a good video. i love how much effort you put into it. i just might get into F1 because of this
Welcome to the show my friend!
