  • I have a pile of locomotives I need to get ready for a future video. They are all Märklin DB Class 120 (BR 120) from the 1980s/1990s.
    As there was too much to cover, this has become a 2 part series. In this episode we'll look at servicing steps in detail (popular request...), and we'll use the Märklin 3153 for this. We'll cover:
    - Visual inspection
    - Taking the locomotive apart
    - Cleaning the motor
    - Swapping traction tires
    - Lubrication
    - Testing and adjusting the reverser
    If you enjoy this video, please consider subscribing to my channel and hitting the like button. It helps me reach a wider audience and create more content like this.
    Thanks for watching!

    Your maintenance & repair videos are my favorite next to your explainations of how many of the Märklin features work, like the catenary installation video.

    Thanks for the video. You give me the confidence to have a go myself. I have never been game to open up the motor. I'm sure my collection, which I inherited from my dad, has never been properly serviced, so it'll will probably be very dirty.

    Great to see you working on a loco I have! As always very informative and from the comments gives people the courage to tackle maintenance themselves. Look forward to the next installment 😊

    These are indeed one of the most interesting videos. Especially adjusting the spring of the reverser always seems to be daunting to get it perfectly working. We're a bit stunned to see former owners even daring to bend the arm... 😯 Adjusting the spring should work usually... Enjoy your Sunday.

    • @The3rdRail
      @The3rdRail  Год назад +1

      The arm bending thing is straight out of the official Märklin maintenance manual 😉 The problem is often that people panic and start bending things where it wouldn't be necessary... I have a long video planned on the topic, I only just need to make it 😀 Glad you enjoyed the video, enjoy the rest of the weekend.

    Though for me nothing new under the horizon, as usual, this was an entertaining video. 😊 you do have a have a huge collection of rolling stock. Do you a video of your collection?

    • @The3rdRail
      @The3rdRail  Год назад

      The second part should be a bit more interesting for an expert like you when I upload it 😀 I take some of the rolling stock out for running sessions or new additions videos. Filming the collection any other way would be difficult as everything is boxed and kept in drawers, not as simple as filming a display cabinet 🤔 Unless you wanted to see a video about how I store the collection, I think this would be difficult to do. Thanks for the visit today,

      @@The3rdRail Thanx for your reply. No need to unbox all your rolling stock of course. 😉 keep on the good work. 😃
