How Easy Is It To Ride Onewheel?

- We know a lot of you are wondering, 'How easy is it to ride Onewheel Pint and can do it?'. Well we've given thousands of demos and the fact is, everybody can pick it up in a few minutes with a little instruction. We set out to find a first time rider to capture what that learning experience is like to give you a better idea and to provide some tips along the way.
And if you don't pick it up right away, don't be discouraged. Learning new things is what life is allllll about. Enjoy it and when it clicks it will be so rewarding!!!
A couple of our favorite tips:
- Bring a friend. Having someone to hold onto in the beginning makes things easier and more fun. Plus they'll be psyched they can try too!
- Remember to breathe! Relax. It'll help soooo much.
- Think forward when coming up to level. Too much weight towards your chest or back will take you off balance. Focus your energy and concentration out in front of you.
- Stand tall. No need to get into a super aggressive knee bend off the bat. The board is balancing you so the less you do the better. Do less.
- Look up. You go where you're looking. Don't look down!
- Forward is everything. Yea, we already said it, but keeping your concentration and energy out in front of you is so important. Even when you turn, you're still thinking forward which just a slight shift in the direction you want to go and lead with your eyes.
- Practice the dismount. Whether you are doing Simplestop or the heel lift, hold onto a friend or a wall and practice it 10 times to get the muscle memory down.
- Jump if you need to. The hop off dismount isn't as scary as it seems. A tiny hop off will get you out of any pickle as a last resort.
- Have fun! You're learning something new which means that you are a super-rad, adventurous person. Enjoy it! You're a legend. Life is good!

I got my pint two weeks ago. I've no idea if the sensor pad should be in front or behind or which way I should be facing? I tried the first time and went flying backwards?? Im a lefty too so I feel awkward!!

Oh yea, I am 57 years old woman no experience in riding two wheels not even a bike when I was a kid. Someone loaned me the original Onewheel and learned on my own and was able to ride it. I am so proud of myself. If I have the means will for sure purchase the Onewheel PINT. Awesome!
Well that answers the #1 question in my head!

@@fjeepers lol just a few safety practice and you're good to go. I don't own one but wish I have the budget for it and will certainly get one. Really fun to ride.

As awesome as OneWheel is, they’re not quite in the position to give things away, very small start up company. One day though!

Another brand would have produced a video with lot of extra enthusiastic people, catchy music and way too many cuts and editing.
But you choose to pick one person, let her try at her own pace, give her few advices, with camera at a distance. Like in real life. Like every person owning a Onewheel do with this random person you meet and say "What is it? Can I try?"

Andy L the bad news is that they are Expensive
I'm 50 and haven't ridden a skateboard in at least 35 years. So far I've fallen off the Pint (5) times, but I love it. The best advice is what he says; look where you want to go. Don't look down or off to the side. The board responds to where you're looking. For me, I ride with my right foot in front, so left turns are much easier for me. Another thing is when you're learning to ride it, you're tense so you're putting a lot of muscle strain on your calves; especially my rear calf. Once you relax and get a feel for the board, you loosen up.
best advice my friends gave me was, " learn to relax".

Wow. She is awesome. I thought they were playing us at first. It really is that easy though. I was cruising around the backyard in minutes and I haven't ridden a skateboard since I was about 10 years old. That was a cool video to show people how easy it is to pick up. Just 3 more weeks for my pint and the shipping date hasn't bumped further out for a whole week! Yay! Maybe this will be the real shipping date.
@@joeypts I agree. My XR is one of the best things I have ever bought in my Iife. It truly brings me joy. It also has the advantage of being useful to go places.
I guess I was lucky that it only took total of 4 days when I ordered my XR.

When it comes to skate boards and roller blades. I was like a horse on roller skates. This OneWheel is Fantastic. I see people cruising by on them near my work in Downtown San Francisco. Fun transportation.

Day two on mine. I was super discouraged yesterday, then saw this and couldn’t wait to come home to try again. I’m still not sure the OW Pint is for me, but thanks for being aware that there are a lot of noobs like me who could use this inspiration and tips.

Great video! Just received my pint 3 days ago and took me about a whole day to feel comfortable and able to commit through the process. Hardest part for me was the first half hour of tossing the pint around and admiring the dents and scratches 😂

I have a One Wheel Pint and I’ve gotten pretty comfortable riding it around, but I get terrible anxiety when riding around people or in a city setting. I would love to see a video of how to get over that fear!!

07:00ish very valid point. If you tried to ride a bike while looking down at the pedals you would feel very unstable. No scientist but our brains expect us to be looking in the direction we are moving.

This is so cool I’m getting a pint for my birthday in March and I get my cast off 4 days before my birthday so it will be a treat especially since it kinda like snowboarding in terms of carving and that’s what I’m best at and I hurt my wrist snowboarding. Really excited

This beats the videos that bash it. It seems like a lot people push it too hard uphill and that seems to be the majority of the concerns but they seem to be going quite fast up hill on the video (can’t really tell exactly how fast but it appears dangerous)…? But idk. I’m wanting to try it out lol

I'm soon to be 67 and want to buy one. I use to skate board back years ago.
It’s way hard for me. I think it might be because I’m a skier, I keep trying to push against the board or move my legs and not my hips. The hardest part for me is getting back to level after turning. I always end up wobbling and losing balance.

It's harder than it looks. I definitely needed to learn along a fence and stopping was not easy even with simple stop. But it is fun once you get the hang of it.

What's pushback on a onewheel?
@@megjane7 All onewheels have a speed threshold of which you aren't supposed to go over that limit. However, the onewheels are capable of going faster than the recommended speed. Once you pass the recommended safe max speed, the onewheel will detect this and try to "warn" you by forcing itself to slow down. Many people choose to ignore this safety feature, and often times can result in the onewheel malfunctioning and doing what's called a "nosedive" where the nose of the board crashes into the ground, and sends the rider flying forward potentially injuring themselves.
@@x0scimy0x I've been reading about this. Why on earth didn't they make it beep or something to let you know. Seems very ridiculous to "warn" you by putting you in a dangerous situation from launching you off.
