    jjWren has been and remains my favorite engineer jock since I saw him trying to take on random physical challenges back in the day. In this, he understands that successful coaching requires breaking one skill into separate parts, and then proficiency arises when all of those parts feel natural. Those parts are also directly associated with the move, instead of being some abstract 'drill' that's supposed to help. Beginning. Middle. End. A lot of coaches in different disciplines really don't know how that works. Fantastic coaching, Wren.
    Jake's conclusive understanding from steps until he starts finding the nuance in timing was cool. Now the journey from clearing a trick to polishing a trick enough to use it in regular commuting.

I've tried for a few days and also watched maybe three or four videos on how to do this, but I feel like maybe this will be the video that gets me there. There is a storm so it'll be raining the next few days but when the weather clears up I'll be out there again trying this.

    If you could put a small amount of shocks on those 1 wheels you could just pop up on curbs. Maybe look onto building something like that?
    Just the slightest amount of spring so you can force down all your weight and pop back up to cause upward motion of the wheel, doing that while rolling into a curb would then also just ride up the curb.

  • @joeferguson2187
    @joeferguson2187 4 года назад

    awesome content! Yea that little 45 degree angle at the front and tail edge of your one wheel is your friend here. dig that nose into the sidewalk when you get to it so it raises the board above the curb. That helped me tremendously! Good video man! keep em coming!

  • @LokiDWolf

    Everything you said in the beginning about mental health and what we can do is so on point. I wish more people would realize that instead of protesting their rights are just gone. No, they're not. Anyhoo, glad you recovered well from the kidney stones.
    So, just moved to California and one of the things I'm highly interested in is a one-wheel. Do you have any recommendations or does that matter? And, I love you did a video on this! Because I'm sure getting over a curb or something similar will be very necessary. Thanks! Love the channel.
    And yes, I've been subscribed for a while now! :D

    it's basically a curbie. An ollie where the pop is generated by the wheel hitting the curb at the right angle. It's super cool to see the physics similarities across wheeled boards.
