I remember watching coverage of the EF5 tornado tornado that hit Moore on May 20th, 2013 and was utterly creeped out by the sound of the tornado sirens wailing in the background during a phone call between field meteorologist Mike Bennett and chief meteorologist Mike Morgan as they were tracking the storm for Oklahoma City's NBC affiliate KFOR Channel 4.
Moore’s sirens have always spooked me out. And after seeing videos from 5/20/13 with the sirens in the background, I wanted to hear it in person. I’ve always loved the sound of Moore’s sirens
This is one amazing ambience! Seems like Moore is very over-covered with sirens, but with good ones though! Seeing that map in the video, they had a Hurricane? And it looks like as if one of those Vortex's in SE OKC was removed?
Moore installed 4-5 Hurricanes in the 70s, and they were all replaced by 1995. And that OKC Vortex used to be there but now it’s gone, I’m not sure why
They had the Modulators way before they had the 508s. A lot of the Mods were installed in the mid to late ‘90s and into the early 2000s. The 508s weren’t installed until after 2013
@@CycloneJoey518 The 5020B on the very northern part of Moore was installed in either 2014 or 2015 and the one by Veteran’s Memorial Park was installed in 2017. Then they put up an 8032B in 2017 on the very south side of town
@@CycloneJoey518 The 508s were actually to fill in coverage gaps. Which Moore has so many sirens that they never even had coverage gaps lol. They always intended the Mods for the main coverage and then the rest of the sirens to fill in gaps

So Relaxing!!! Nice Video!!!
Thanks! I think it would sound even better if they went back to regular tones on the Modulators
@@AWT5020 Np!! Yea They Sound Much Better In These Ambience
I was just waiting for you to record something like this, I wonder how it would sound with Level 5... Keep up the great work man!
Thanks! I wish they still had 5. But it would be even better if they went back to regular 850/1020hz and Major 3rd
@@AWT5020 I fully agree with that
@@AWT5020 Got your wish, minus the Major 3rd.
Thats my neighborhood in the top right, Sonoma Lakes
Sounds awesome

Sounds like Moore had a unique system back then too.
MODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDFFDX
at the end of all the sirens what's that siren in the backround?
Oklahoma City’s Whelens
Whats the deal with the crossed out hurricane and whelen
Moore used to have a Hurricane right there. They had a few of them. And then the Whelen was removed for some reason
@@AWT5020 thx

So why did they add thunder mods for if the city was covered
They didn’t add anything. They just changed the tones on their Modulators to ThunderMod
@@AWT5020 oh ok that’s pretty cool
Why did they install both Modulators and 508's?

You can hear the 508s drown out the mods
Yep!
