Sirens of the South & Midwest
Добавлен 25 авг 2019
Hello! A bit about me - I’m Andrew, 16, and I’m from Enid, Oklahoma. I was born in Oklahoma City and lived in The Village, a suburb of Oklahoma City, for about 2 years before moving to Enid in late 2009 and have been here since. I have had a big interest in sirens, storms and railroad crossings since I was around 3 years old. My interest in railroad crossings has faded over time though, so I don’t frequently post videos of them.
Since 2020 when I started uploading videos here, my channel has been dedicated to recording and uploading videos of Outdoor Warning Sirens in the South (Primarily Oklahoma) and the Midwest (Primarily Kansas). It’s been a great journey here, watching my channel grow and become more known in the siren community, and I don’t have plans to quit anytime soon.
I post siren pictures on Instagram:

(Distant) FS RSH-10B Thunderbeam | Full Alert & Ambiance | Cushing, Oklahoma | 12/5/24
At 11:30:06 the City of Cushing conducted a monthly test of their Outdoor Warning Sirens on Thursday, December 5th, 2024, the test consisted of about a 3 minute Alert.
Perkins and Cushing postponed their tests from Tuesday to today so I came back. Perkins canceled again since they were doing maintenance on their sirens. But Cushing still went off so no big deal. This ambiance was very weird. The Thunderbeam I was recording was oddly quiet for most of the test even when the reflector faced me. It’s the lower pitched Thunderbeam you hear, the high pitched one was 3/5 mile to my north. The 130 a quarter mile away and the Thunderbeam to the north were so loud they made my ears buzz. My original plan was to record Perkins and Cushing today but there was a patch of clouds covering that area which both cities canceled for. It was clearing up here in Stillwater so I ended up at this 508, which went well. I’ll ...

The test was shorter than I expected but I ...

I was finally able to go out on a Wednesday since I have my license now so I took it upon myself to record one of the dual tone analogs left in Tulsa’s system. They have a handful of them. After discovering this was 435hz a few months back I knew I wanted to record it since OKC no longer has 435hz in their system. Which means this is the last 435hz Whelen in the metro. Can you video the siren at the fire station in Mounds, Oklahoma?
@@jonathanboyd9644 I’m planning on it tomorrow. If they don’t test then I’ll go somewhere in Tulsa probably
@ Do you know the Mounds, Oklahoma siren testing schedule?
@@jonathanboyd9644 Supposedly Wednesdays at noon so we’ll see
@ Sometimes they do it on Saturdays at noon if not Wednesdays at noon
@@jonathanboyd9644 They said Wednesdays at noon on Facebook
Springfield had thunderbolts, sd-10's, eows 612’s, 2001 srn’s, model 3’s, and even a model 7 & model 2t.
Is this the one by southmoore high school? I think it might be.
@@mikemabe4942 It is. I always put the location of the siren in the description
Dang with the 3t22 In the background and this this makes a very harmonic ambience. I gust hope it doesn’t get replaced by a 508 those things have no harmonic sound what so ever. Keep up the good work making these wonderful harmonic ambiance’s.
Sounds heavenly. Since when did they do Westminster Chimes and voices on their Modulators?
@GabrielCL2T22A The Modulator at the High School is the only one that does that. They programmed it into the activation cycle when they upgraded all the Mods to UV since it’s on the campus I guess
@@AWT5020 That's odd. I wonder why they only did it with only that siren.
@GabrielCL2T22A I’m assuming it’s because it’s at the school campus. The voice message always says tornado warning even for tests so it seems like it’s hard programmed into the system. I’m going to record it sometime
@@AWT5020 Oh yeah that makes sense.
This is a great video! 🤩 2:50 sounds like a dual-tone Alertronic.
It does.
This sounds magical
Almost sounds like you were in an acoustic shadow. They only form certain times of the year.
@@Blue10AEMia That would definitely make sense. I never even thought about that. The whole time I was so confused as to why the Thunderbeam was so quiet even though it was right there
I have never heard of an acoustic shadow before.
@borkluchtalarm they exist, look it up.
@@Blue10AEMia I did shortly after I read your comment, and I must say that they are very interesting. In my reply I wasn't being sceptical, but rather curious. The existence of acoustic shadows and this video makes me love the cold times of the year even more!
It sounds like an FS 508 or an FS Eclipse. Right?
It sounds like a wolf. Or even a coyote. Right?

@@jonathanboyd9644 I have other plans this month. Might get back to Tulsa in January or so
@ Someone else said they would but I don’t remember who it was. Do you know who it was?
@@jonathanboyd9644I am this Wednesday since the sky’s are clear, Elijah Hamilton might meet up with me too.
That high pitched undertone vaguely sounds like a 2001.
I have a wellen wps 2010 At my Macarthur elementary school
Can't stop listening to this. Absolutely incredible.
Man it would be epic af if I ever get to record their siren test one day. They have one epic system

Can you try recording the other TechTrol IntelliSiren?
@@jonathanboyd9644 That’s on my list
Awesome. This is way better than mine, but that's just because you have a camera, while I'm using a phone. That's the sweet spot for Moore.
Oklahoma Tornado Sirens and Storms made a similar video prior to yours, this is more high quality
@@FalconDoesntKnowWeather We met and recorded this Modulator at the same time yesterday. I always post my video the next day so he uploaded his first

OKC Siren map when
@@FalconDoesntKnowWeather It’s not a public map of just OKC. It’s one I’ve added to for a few years for personal use. There are maps of OKC just not how mine is in the video with icons
Look at the crest in the bottom motor, the russiaville indiana 2t22 has the same crest, why is that?
@@mclarensuniversethatisverystic If you’re talking about the fading of color on the bottom intake below the bottom rows of horns, then that’s just from the sun fading the color over time. It only fades the color between the horns since the horns block the sun from reaching directly below them which makes that shape. So it’s just color fading
Ahh got it…
I swear the whole earths bird population likes to build nest inside tornado sirens :|
By the way, is there a Thunderbolt that his a extremely rare ovel rotator shape from the oldest photo from federal signal?
@@MogiTheBear There’s none that are standing. Those were the prototype Thunderbolts

@@P-10-x2t SiraTrol, not SiraTone. It’s just a type of controller, but idk if that’s actually what that yellow box is
As someone who has lived in Enid my whole life, I have somehow never seen any of these places. I remember that church, and that’s it.
@@CARCUSEATER A lot of the sirens are in odd places off of the main roads. I’ve lived in Enid since late 2009
@@AWT5020 Okay, thanks for explaining, dude!!!
@@CARCUSEATER No problem!
Is that a C-Series?
@@Vigilance108 Yes. The SC behind the 1000A means C-Series
I know, I was just curious to know why it sounds so low pitched.
@@Vigilance108 Pitch has nothing to do with the series of a Thunderbolt. They all function the same way. C-Series Thunderbolts were the last of them, made from 1982-1990 before they were discontinued. All Thunderbolts regardless of what series they are have 7 different chopper levels to choose from which determine the pitch. This one is on the standard level 5
Oh ok.
Interesting test procedure. I wonder why they put the growl sequence at the end instead of at the start?
@@SirenArchives I’m not exactly sure what they do. There was a police officer there to monitor the siren for the test. As it was going off he walked up to the pole, then it winded down. It looked like he was entering something into whatever was on the pole. It was like engraved in the pole because it was on the side and I couldn’t see it. After he entered whatever it was, the siren did the quick growl. So I’m not entirely sure that’s going on there
Awesome video!!!!
Thanks!

Did anyone not noticed there is another blue federal signal 2t22 or 3t22? At start at video?
Yeah it’s a 3T22 in Union City. It’s inactive now. It was shut off in May this year
Oh but is it still mounted or did it just remove and replace with new siren?
@@MogiTheBear It’s still there. It wasn’t replaced with anything. There’s a 2001 right down the street that replaced a 16V1T-B that covers the area so I guess they just decided to shut off the 3T22
Okay so is it inactive forever? Or it will active into the future? (Last question)
@@MogiTheBear I’m assuming it’ll remain inactive. I don’t see why they’d turn it off and then turn it back on later down the road
