You’re very welcome. Thanks a lot for watching my videos and I do know what you mean. Production videos like this and the ones that I don’t talk just showing printing jobs are popular I think because of that reason. It’s nice to hear you watch my videos like that and learn from them. I’m very happy to be able to help that way. Thanks for taking the time to let me know how much you get out of my videos. I appreciate the support. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Thank you very much. I am happy to know you like my videos. Good luck with your screen printing endeavors and let me know if I can be of assistance anytime. I’ll keep it up as long as people keep watching them and supporting the project in any way. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Thanks much! You’re welcome; it’s my pleasure to share. I agree. The lines are darker so there is more contrast which make the ink pop more I believe. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

loved the video, especially your adjusting the shirts on the platen. i'd love to see a video on that. i've learned to align the platen to the seams of the collar but that might not always work.
Thanks a lot Kevin. Always good to hear from you. I think it came out great asl well. The customer loves it. It was recreated from a hand drawing he did. I have great artists. My brother being one of them :) Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Thank you, I’m happy to hear you enjoy my videos. You're welcome, it's my pleasure to help out and share information. Well yes, we call it ink because we print with it. I use plastisol inks which need to be heat cured at about 330 degrees F. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
You're welcome. I’m pretty sure I have several videos that cover that topic. And I’m sure I’ll make new ones that touch on it as well. Just check out all of my videos for a great rundown on the process. It’s as easy as that. Thanks for your support! ☠
i was asked to make a design for a t-shirt recently. never done that before and was baffled by the screenprinters' request for the separations & such. i had NO idea what went in to printing on shirts! geeze what a long & manual process. WOW. but now i understand. so THANK YOU for this very informative video!
I could FEEL that you enjoyed doing this one. I, personally, was mesmerized and listening intently.! I see why you might not want the under base sometimes.

That’s some old Excalibur ink which you can still get at a discount with the Catspit code from Integrity Print Supply on the Print Supplies page of my website. I don’t know what code it would be. Some of their ink is PVC and Phthalate free. But I’ll be slowly converting back to Triangle now as I really like it. Their Phoenix white is bad ass. That you can get at a discount too with a Catspit promo code :) Superstore sells it. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
It’s very difficult to diagnose problems from afar with so little information. But generally black ink should be on the thinner side if you’re working with plastisol inks. If the ink is too thick use some curable reducer to thin it out. If you’re using water based it may be drying in the screen. Add a retarder and back flood between prints with air dry inks. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠
Thank you very much! I believe I have 2 or more that cover that already. You can check the forum for the post about this or see my uploads. Just search “Loading The Pallet With Shirts.” Then I did a follow up video to that one too. There’s a link for the forum on the RUclips channel page. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Yeah I’m going to be printing some new ones on nicer shirts. I’ll be doing the classic Secret Society logo in gray ink on black tees. You see that screen in many of my videos and I’ll be printing the 2 color skull and flames clip art logo that I did a video or 2 with. That’s the gray shirt I wear in some of my videos. It will take me some time yet but I hope to have them done by the end of February. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

Pretty cool!!! , Jon, did you proceed just to "block" the marks after the registration? I mean, does the block out can be apply over the "used" screen, or did you have to clean those little marks up, before aplying the block out? and what mesh count are you using?
I’m sorry I really do not understand what you are asking there. This artwork was specifically set up to print without an under base on dark garments. So the artwork was created specially to do that. This art has lines in between the colors that allow the shirt color to be part of the design. In this case the colors do not touch but on other jobs they may touch or there may be a fine line space between them. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
Thanks Pepe! No, for registration marks you’ll want to use tape. That way you can reuse the same marks when you set it up again. I’ll keep these screens on file for this customer until a year or so passes without an order. This job was done on 125 mesh with 70 micrometer thread. See the article on my website about “Thin Mesh” to learn more about it. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠

Really liked this design. Nothing to do with screen printing, just curious how it’s done. How do you remove the T mark that shows up in the first test design?
Thanks! It's one of my favorite designs I've done. Those T registration marks are taped off before we actually start printing the tee shirts. The shirt with the T marks on it is a teaching tool actually. I still have that shirt from this video and use it teaching. Thanks for watching! Well you can use a decent quality water based inkjet film and using a dye based inkjet ink will work best. If your printing spot colors straight from your graphic software you can convert all objects to 100% CMYK to make the film denser than with black alone. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
I appreciate the idea and thoughts on your part but once you start to screen print and deal with customers you would understand what I am talking about. I am going to start selling Catspit tees again and they will be available On the RUclips store and my website. But I couldn’t begin to print a bunch of different complex designs for RUclips channels who may only sell a few shirts a month. That’s a lot of pre-press work for small returns on individual shirts. Thanks for the support! ☠
No, a polyester garment that is dyed usually needs a poly white under base to prevent dye migration. Or perhaps you could use a line of poly inks making this possible. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
@@antoniotomtamayo2790 My pleasure to help out where I can. As I recall this job was done with no under base and no print flash print. The idea was to let the brown from the shirts to affect the print in such a way as to be more earthy, so to speak. If you're looking for a line of poly inks, just do a Google search. You should be able to find something.
Thank you! Glad you enjoy my video work. Honestly I like clear office tape. It does not get saturated with ink and leave imprints on light colored shirts after wiping the screen down or ink changes. You can dog ear it slightly or take it off with a dull razor blade. You have to be careful though ;) Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
+Creative Design Works If you're taping off the registration marks it goes on the substrate side or the "shirt" side. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
This one is a great help because I was wondering about screen alignment for our 3 color design. Jonathan I am wondering about your flash curing each ink before the next screen. Using a heat gun to cure the ink (and not melt the fabric!) takes a minute or so? Just enough so that the ink is dry to the touch, I guess, yes? Thank you for these videos Jonathan! Catspit rocks!
You're welcome. I'm glad you enjoy my videos. Yes, flashing for multi colored shirts should be just enough to dry the ink to the touch and no more. That's why we call it flashing. It's supposed to be quick and not fully cure the ink. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
If you have light grey in the design you can use that as your base. Same amount of screens as no white base but still get color pop as the light grey will act like your base.
Adding center marks would help tremendously with centering the design. I like your videos, good information. As a 30 year graphics veteran, I have always been partial to non-underbase designs. Those heavy overly bright color on white designs look cheesy. I know that sometimes you can't get away from it though. Keep up the good work. P.S. I wish my shop was that clean.
Thank you! I'm glad to know you enjoy my video work. I appreciate your support. LOL... my shop is not as clean anymore :( But I try very hard to keep it as clean as possible. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
One of the most economic ways to make film positives is with inkjet film and an inkjet printer. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
@catspitproductions My name is todd Im currently having alot of issues with my black plastisol clearing my 230 mesh screen. I have brand new squeegees, new screens I do a push stroke, slight flash before black but I let the pallet cool down im very fustrated could you give some advice on what I could be doing wrong?
:) Yup, hopefully shortly after the New Year. I have another project I need to finish first. But stay tuned. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! ☠
I like this process but I have a question. How did you get the transparencies printed with only part of the logo? How were you able to split the orange from the red and grey, etc... I hope my question isn't confusing!
That is done in the art creation. There is a lot of prepress and set up with screenprinting. The art is either color separated during creation or it is done with software. You may enjoy this playlist. It’s a very basic and simple breakdown of the art creation process on the most basic levels. I’ll be adding more as time move forward. ruclips.net/p/PLlzqjWiR6o9Z45CScu_eGd9G1TrNM98lU Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
For the test print yes. Just between colors. But for the production run we load the press and use the flash cure unit. i did not print each color twice however. ruclips.net/video/n_CpAfNrFkk/видео.html But you can print/flash/print for better coverage. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
+All American Screen Printing Hi there! I think I recognize that name ;) Thank you much! You're very welcome. I sell my own HO inks now on my eCommerce site. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
I think you are referring to the film positives. It's a clear plastic sheet with an emulsion on one side that is printed through an inkjet printer. I sell them in boxes of 100 sheets on my ecommerce site. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
That was 11x17 film in this video. I use the same inkjet film I sell: catspitscreenprintsupply.com/inkjet-film/ Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
Well actually use another registration method, as usual the screen burning process must to be well done, if is it, then we can't avoid to put our film on the pallete, we use a garment in ther put the first color, tape it and go on, register the other color over it, we save some time doing in that way, we also use registration marks, normally a cross in the midle of a circle not in every corner, both at less a couple of them, one at each side can be enough, I like to see the technics of other professionals to improve myself and for sure you are totally right about the high opacity use without white underlay, I love the finished look, another good point is about the use of the 125 mesh, I probably would use 160 mesh for the orange, but you got a great print with the 125. Thank for sharing ... great work ... ;3
Yup everyone has their own particular working methodology. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
That really depends on the ink. It may be possible but you would have to try some inks and do some testing. Usually we use a white under base on dark garments to make rendering the colors easier. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
There's a different video that covers a white under base. Check out my over 550 screen printing videos from my channel page. Click the videos tab to search them by topic. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
You simply tape them off after you finish the registration and before you start the print run. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
The spray I put on the pallet holds the shirt to the pallet during printing. Otherwise the shirt would lift with each screen and ruin the registration. Thanks for watching! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Actually this press costs less than 4K and you can screen print with even less. Just master the principles and apply them on a smaller scale. I have other videos on paper stencils, hinge clamps, 1 color bench presses and more. But any of my videos can teach you something useful no matter the level of printing you are at. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
hey, just watch your video, and another one before on printing white plastisol on to black garments. i have done it both ways flash on then another layer and then tried doing it with just to times with no flash till after. the only problem i have is that the plastisol is on the inside but very fine, not exactly visible but you can feel a stickiness when wearing it?? am i doing it to much? Thank you if you can get back to me your videos have basically showed me everything lol.
Very cool, I'm happy to help out. Okay I think you mean the ink is showing some on the inside of the shirt making a sticky, sweaty, patchy area uncomfortable to the skin? That could be too much pressure in your print stroke or just too much ink printed. Or perhaps the fabric is on the thinner side in which case you’ll want a thicker garment. We call thick prints like that “bullet proof.” Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

Question! Can you do this with a 60/40 Polycotton blend?
No, a polyester garment that is dyed usually needs a poly white under base to prevent dye migration. Or perhaps you could use a line of poly inks making this possible. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
CatspitProductions thanks for replying, did you do a hit flash hit for this? Or just hit all colors and then cured?
CatspitProductions and also, do you know of any inks that could make this possible to do on polycotton blends?
@@antoniotomtamayo2790 My pleasure to help out where I can. As I recall this job was done with no under base and no print flash print. The idea was to let the brown from the shirts to affect the print in such a way as to be more earthy, so to speak. If you're looking for a line of poly inks, just do a Google search. You should be able to find something.
Thanks for your very prompt response.
My pleasure.
Great videos, thank you...one quick question..... how do you cover the crosshair marks.....plain masking tape on each stencil or something else _
+CatspitProductions sorry...does the tape go on the ink side or the shirt side?

Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

which printer required in screen printing?? ink jet or lazer jet
What kind of inkjet printer and transparencies do you use?
I use an Epson 1400 with the Catspit films. catspitscreenprintsupply.com/inkjet-film/ Thanks for watching! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/
did you use a heat gun to flash?
I'm looking to maybe use this method to flash for a better opacity
For the test print yes. Just between colors. But for the production run we load the press and use the flash cure unit. i did not print each color twice however.
ruclips.net/video/n_CpAfNrFkk/видео.html
But you can print/flash/print for better coverage. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Say i dont have funds to purchase a flash
Can i use a heat gun
Yes, it's possible but perhaps a bit slow. But that's fine on smaller print runs. I know many people do that.
Catspit...I think you are AWESOME Thanks for posting! :) Christine (The T-shirt Lady) :D

what type of paper is that you print on?
I think you are referring to the film positives. It's a clear plastic sheet with an emulsion on one side that is printed through an inkjet printer. I sell them in boxes of 100 sheets on my ecommerce site. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
What is the brand name of the inkjet film you use? Is that a 13”x19” inch sheet?
That was 11x17 film in this video. I use the same inkjet film I sell:

Do you flash between colors? How do you keep the ink from the first screen from getting on the back of the other screens?
Yes, this was flashed: 7:59 Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Well actually use another registration method, as usual the screen burning process must to be well done, if is it, then we can't avoid to put our film on the pallete, we use a garment in ther put the first color, tape it and go on, register the other color over it, we save some time doing in that way, we also use registration marks, normally a cross in the midle of a circle not in every corner, both at less a couple of them, one at each side can be enough,
I like to see the technics of other professionals to improve myself and for sure you are totally right about the high opacity use without white underlay, I love the finished look, another good point is about the use of the 125 mesh, I probably would use 160 mesh for the orange, but you got a great print with the 125.
Thank for sharing ... great work ... ;3
Yup everyone has their own particular working methodology. Thanks for sharing. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/

can you get flesh tones without white underbase Johnathan?
That really depends on the ink. It may be possible but you would have to try some inks and do some testing. Usually we use a white under base on dark garments to make rendering the colors easier. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
Show us with the white underbase.
There's a different video that covers a white under base. Check out my over 550 screen printing videos from my channel page. Click the videos tab to search them by topic. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
what brand and code ink are those. you can email them to me if you want. thanks Tazz
I have a dumb question. How are you removing the registration marks from your screens. Are you taping them off underneath?
You simply tape them off after you finish the registration and before you start the print run. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
What is the purpose of that spray ? thank you ; )
The spray I put on the pallet holds the shirt to the pallet during printing. Otherwise the shirt would lift with each screen and ruin the registration. Thanks for watching! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
great video
thank you
helps me a lot
keep it going
Actually this press costs less than 4K and you can screen print with even less. Just master the principles and apply them on a smaller scale. I have other videos on paper stencils, hinge clamps, 1 color bench presses and more. But any of my videos can teach you something useful no matter the level of printing you are at. Thanks for watching & commenting! ☠
you are very cool dude! thumbs up

hey, just watch your video, and another one before on printing white plastisol on to black garments.
i have done it both ways flash on then another layer and then tried doing it with just to times with no flash till after.
the only problem i have is that the plastisol is on the inside but very fine, not exactly visible but you can feel a stickiness when wearing it?? am i doing it to much?
Thank you if you can get back to me your videos have basically showed me everything lol.
Very cool, I'm happy to help out. Okay I think you mean the ink is showing some on the inside of the shirt making a sticky, sweaty, patchy area uncomfortable to the skin? That could be too much pressure in your print stroke or just too much ink printed. Or perhaps the fabric is on the thinner side in which case you’ll want a thicker garment. We call thick prints like that “bullet proof.” Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
c'est cool ,merci bien!!

I use mostly plastisol inks. This was done with plastisol. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment! www.catspitproductionsllc.com/ - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
CatspitProductions You should make a video on how to screen print 3 colors on a colored shirt, with using only one screen! That would be great!
