I like the way you let the student hit multiple serves to build confidence as well as a kinetic chain. Your coaching is positive reinforcement, Many coaches stop the student every single serve and say "that one your toss was a little off, your body came forward, your swing path was off". And they tinker with every single detail every serve, never letting the student build any sort of rhythm and flow. This can discourage a student as well as prevent the student from learning one fluid movement. It's like learning a language. You need to let students speak and listen fluidly along with grammar lessons. If you stop them every sentence to correct minor mistakes of past tense, adverbs or other imperfections in grammar the student will never learn the language and will get discouraged.
well the kid already has good fundamentals. if you don't have good fundamentals, as a coach it would be in your best interest to stop and tell your student what needs to be changed. Some more drastic than others.
The kick is my main serve. I know how to make it bounce to a decent height (around my neck) but I sometimes lack the “kick” so the ball floats up. Players at my level can’t kill it so it doesn’t worry me but I’ve played against a 5.5 and he will pull out a drop shot return 😢. I got some coaching recently and he wants me to try angling out wide.
Bro you must have a great ground game if a usually second serve, the kick, is your primary serve. That's usually the easiest to return when you seen enough of them cause it's slower and if it doesn't have action it sits up for the receiver to bang. That's used a lot in doubles and in the old serve and volley days because it's slower and gives more time to get to net. Pros use it for a second cause they're playing on razors edge and scared to double fault or have such an awesome ground game if they just get neutral on return they're already ahead.
I really look forward to your kick serve instruction but for some reason I don’t get as much out of these videos compared to your other amazing instructions that have transformed my game. I think it would be helpful to include a little more direct guidance for such a complex serve.
He cant make every videos about the fundamentals. More advanced players need videos like this to polish the details too. Wait for beginner sessions or watch countless other kick serve videos for your level
it is perhaps better to say that in order to achieve a kicker with much higher spin rate, and thus lateral deviation in bounce, he needs to be able to "pronate more to the side, brushing up more of the left side of the ball". Whether it is advisable for him to do so without drastically increasing his injury risk is possibly the most neglected aspect in tennis coaching. In several sports involving a single hand throwing action, coaches are requested to screen the player for the safety of certain levels of exertion; few have any interest, let alone training in doing such screening, especially in tennis. In this case the placement of his right foot, and relative lack of movement in the left hip give hints of what may be found in his torso flexion and extension tests, and rotational tests. If they are less than ideal, then we can figure out which joints may be inhibiting, or which neural pathways aren't capable of using the range, and address them before even mentioning higher aims. This should certainly be expected at a high paying academy.
hey sir im from philippines im struggled for my serve hue I played tennis when I was 7 years old but I stopped when I was 10 and now im back to play tennis and I'm 21 and it's hard for me to perfect my serve. please sir help me
I don’t know man, it seems like you just go “good job” “yep” I don’t feel much was actually changed. I feel like he could use more coil and not have his back leg pull in front of his front leg. Like this is good practice for him but I don’t think he needs a coach to just hit a bunch of kick servee and aim for the fence and stuff
Not every lesson is aimed at changing/transforming a player. You werent there to know what their objectives were for their meeting. Maybe it was preparation right before a tourney where u just want to polish a little and inject confidence in the player’s current arsenal.
@@y2jandy That's true seems like people are like "OMG THIS VIDEO TOTALLY CHANGED MY KICK SERVE" but yeah you got a point it is good before a tournament edit it also says "kick serve the basics" um not really, especially for like a beginner
Exactly. I may add: Mouratoglou should HIMSELF demonstrate a kick serve (oops - is he even ABLE to do that?😄), or at least break down the motions and point out the details. None of that. Just lot's of "Ooh-la-la".
ΟΚ, long story short: We watched a kid who ALREADY has a pretty good kick serve PRETENDING to get coached by Mouratoglou, IF "Ooh-la-la" counts for coaching. How are you going to teach something if you CAN'T demonstrate... Did we see Mouratoglou performing a kick serve? NO. Just "Ooh-la-la" "Great" "Think of curves" and cheap talk.
‘Ohh-la-la and that’s great’ are about 90% of what he “teaches’ in all his videos. That being said if you are charging $400 an hour for actual teaching, there’s no sense in giving it away for free on RUclips.
Do you watch his videos just to criticize? I enjoyed seeing this relaxed coaching style for a change. Hes having fun with a student who obviously enjoyed it too. Every second doesn't have to be intense drills. You haters sound like you've never played a sport before.
Bottom line he's teaching basic principles of certain serves and strokes , volleys but whoever the player from Fed on down you have to put many many hours in refining the instructions. Finding how they work with your individual bodies ability and tendency. Patrick can't give you a few tips put a racket in your hand and vala Ooooh la la. You gotta put in thé work in a fun way 🎉

smart and efficient great job Pat
Love your videos coach! They definitely help a tonnnnn
I loved how you realised the hazard and adjusted right away. Great coaching all along! 👍🎾🔥
Most informative tennis coaching channel I've found so far. I feel like Patrick is actually my coach or something.

How do you hit a kick server what’s the swing pattern this is the only server I can never do intentionally

I agree but I think this is the very basics of a kick serve but I think he needs to do a move in depth one

The coach is training a young pro. Go somewhere else to learn the kick serve basics.
@@strongbrain3128it’s literally titled kick serve the basics

SuperGood ! Impressionnant ce genre de services!
Watch the curves catch line for the kick service.😊
Now Mr.Patrick we want to know how to correct ( if it’s need) …thank you
This camera angle make me feel like its my turn next after him . Really enjoy the feeling
I can't see the ball, once it passes the net.
Human shield for this dude practicing tennis. This is absurd from Mouratoglou
Ahhh yes my favorite serve I never can do intentionally. I need help lol
Does anyone know or can anyone recall his name being mentioned before he started coaching Serena Williams?
I think he could pronate more to the side, brushing up more of the left side of the ball, no?
he does open up the body too much for the kick which causes him to hit through the ball instead of the racquet path going along the baseline.
@@1988Allnatural Spot on. It's so clear.

By your logic, pro’s wouldn’t need a coach.
Also, this is a video produced for social media, therefore it’s entertainment AND instruction.
ive known a lot of coaches who doesn’t play tennis well but Had ascended there students to top levels.

Definitely not a basic video
