Thank you for this Jillian- such clear and helpful advice. I have re-watched this video multiple times to keep me grounded in the last few months. What really stuck with me is when we go TOO hard our body will panic and hold onto fat. I did it- as a note to anyone wanting to lose that last 10 lbs it took me 4 months instead of 2. Though, it feels SO sustainable. I tracked food and movement and staying in a 500 calorie per day deficit with a focus on eating high protein. With that said, I didn’t do it perfectly and I had ice cream just about every day (budgeted into my calories). Here I am, sitting 10 lbs lighter without having to go to any extremes.
I’ve lost 20lbs since March 2021 doing EXACTLY this plus eating within a 6-8 hour window. I track what I eat (it’s easier to do if you literally eat whole food) I use the LoseIt App…bought an Apple Watch to check my movement and calories, and exercise 5-7 days a week for an hour. It can also be 30 mins morning/ 30 min evening. Just takes DISCIPLINE👍
Intermittent fasting helped me, Eat in a 8-hour window, fast the rest. Yes, I agree, if you can cut out the booze, that helps a lot, too. 38 lb loss and I'm 56
Once I get there i would love a video on maintaining your weight - the best strategies so you don't regain the weight you have lost but also don't lose too much weight, which happened to me about 10 years ago.
I’ve lost 110lbs using your exercise programs! Body shred has changed my life! Thank you Jil, I needed you! I hope you will have another 60day program soon! Sign me up!!💪💪💪
Thank you Jillian for putting my ‘last 10lbs weight loss journey’ into perspective when you called it ‘vanity pounds’. My BMI is 21and body fat is 18% having lost 60lbs in 20 months, feel and look a lot better, dropped several clothes sizes, had gr8 feedback from family, etc, have more energy and vitality. I think I have it in my head that I need to lose that extra weight to look leaner and sharper when I already look and feel gr8. Very helpful tips - thanks 🙏 .
Wow. I can already feel that this could change my life. After being desperate for months because I feel like I have to push myself harder, work out more, eat less to loose those last 10 lbs, this feels like the permission to be gentle to myself, love my body again and work for it instead against it. Thank you, Jilian!! You're workouts helped me loose 40lbs, and maybe this video will be the key to loose the last 10...
for me the last 6 pounds went away when I went vegetarian and stopped eating sweets. now I can eat as much as I want until i am full and my weight is stable im fit and satisfied
Hello, Jillian!! How are you doing? I have been a fan of yours ever since you were on The Biggest Loser. You did a wonderful job of training your team!! You made sure the team members stayed motivated by exercising tough love and didn't let them give up. After watching that show for a while, I can see how you got the reputation as being a tough trainer. You were very tough, but in a good way. Everything you did was motivated by the fact that you care about the people you train. You're also very compassionate and knowledgeable. I have your book Master Your Metabolism. I've been watching several of the videos you have made during the pandemic. All of your videos are very informative!
Omg. I am so happy I found your channel. I've been having a lot of issues with my vanity weight, but my loved ones of course try to re-assure me I look healthy. However, they don't understand that I want to have a toned stomach so I can get back into fashion and look my best. The last 10-15 lbs is hard!
This was good to hear. I'm doing some crazy stuff and hardcore neglecting my body, but listening to this reminded me of how my body is reacting to my bullshit. I need to chill, eat my meal plan, DRINK WATER, and cut out more booze. I can't decide that the day I feel like drinking, I only have multivitamins and one premier protein shake just so I can drink 4 vodka martinis and feel like I'm not over doing calories. It's ridiculous. Can't lose vanity pounds with that level of fuckery
I have your body shred program bought it a few years back it’s helped me lose 30lbs. I am way too hard on myself. Mom if 3 I down to 132 and can shake these last 8 lbs.But I focus so much on it I stress myself out about. This is what I needed to hear be gentle to my mind and body. Also patients is key
Hi Jillian, I’m 61 yrs young and been trying to loose 10 pounds forever. I sleep ok, drink at least 64 oz of water every day, I eat well about 1,700 cal a day, walk every other day and can’t loose the weight. Please let me know what else can I do?
This video is exactly what I need. My hormones are out of wack. Finding balance and losing that 10lbs has been hard. Thank you for doing this video. It puts things into perspective. ❤️❤️❤️

THANK YOU for this video. I am also a small human being so those extra 5-10 pounds really show on my smaller frame. What do you find to be the best method to track calorie intake & expenditure? Any specific app? I follow all your other suggestions (water, sleep, exercise, eat healthy, avoid refined carbs) - except for my 1 glass of wine daily & tracking calories, it is so time consuming it seems. However, I am mid-40’s & in the best shape of my life, just those vanity pounds! PS: I’ve been doing “Ripped in 30” for 10 years & NOTHING gets me in better shape!
Great video, thanks Jillian. You said you like to weigh 115 - and you look amazing! - how tall are you, and what is your BMI? I ask, because I’m wanting to lose vanity pounds and achieve the shredded, toned look you have. Thank you, in advance.
Note to self 1. Don't over train (5 hours max in a week) 2. Eat in a sustainable caloric deficit not more than 500 calories. 3. Hydrate yourself. 4. Limit intake of sodium , refined carbs and booze. 5 get adequate sleep.
Have this video on repeat for those who need it. Soooooo worth listening to this video a few times! You do what you do sooooo well Jillian. Thanks again.

I love and would love more videos debunking myths. And how to respond to friends & family when they make a (nutrition) decision based on misinformation. I only know how to help people who know they want help!
Can you talk about Menopause and peri menopause? I keep reading about all the symptoms and sounds like sudden weight gain is an inevitable outcome. But seeing so many woman that are perhaps in that transition but In super good shape. What’s the best exercise/diet approach at this time?
You pretty much have to keep doing the same things that you did to lose it. Weight comes back because of all those “just this once” indulgences that add up.
Love your videos, the way you articulate information and your energy! I’m on a weight loss journey, lost 30 pounds so far but I have a good 50 more to go! Been binging your videos and I’m loving them and you! :)
It's almost funny how much sense it makes, when you explain it slowly and calmly like that 😆 Simple but not easy, indeed. Trying to 'force' things and then crashing is definitely something I've been guilty of in the past. Slow and steady wins the race....
I just wanted to let you know that you made an off-handed comment about your Alaya's Multi Collagen protein once at the beginning of a Vlog saying "the Chocolate is absolutely delicious" which really perked up my ears. I once had a broken jaw and had to live on protein powder and they were all disgusting. So when I tried Alaya's I was wowed!! It actually tasted great. So thank you, you make a difference. All my best, Mayor of Storyville
So far in my weight loss journey I have lost 11 pounds. I started at 124 pounds and I wasn’t confident in my skin. So I started walking everyday, doing meditation and yoga. And short medium intensity workouts. The pounds kept dropping. I now weigh 113 and I just can’t seem to loose it, but I’ve been doing the same things just pushing myself more. I am going to start slowing down and be vegetarian. I will come back everyday with a update. Remember you are always loved and you got this!!! ❤️
I feel so gross at 123. My hormonal body is fighting my weight loss. How did you get down to 113?! My goal weight it 110. Thank you so much for your advice 😁

Thank you Jillian! This is also where genetics come into play. If you have a wider frame, you will carry more weight naturally. You cannot be super thin and genuinely healthy with a frame like this. You look amazing!!! Giving me second thoughts about growing my hair long- I love your style! Subscribed 🤍
I really needed this today! This is where I am now. What is the most accurate way to know how many calories I am burning in a day so I know how many calories I need to eat to be in a 500 cal deficit? I have been using my Fitbit but many people say that’s NOT accurate. And your hair is so pretty I love the color!
A lot of the devices and weighing scales are not super accurate but their advise is that as long as you use the same device consistently it'll be fine since it will track weight loss, etc. Consistently.
After my first son, the lowest I could get was 127lbs and it was the hardest thing to get to and it wasn’t even worth it. So 130-135lbs felt better on me but I had to accept that I wasn’t going to get to my pre pregnancy weight unless I went to those crazy extremes. Now I have packed on the pounds over the past 10 years so the ultimate goal is 130lbs but I’m not going to kill myself to get there fast. The goal is to get there at a healthy pace so my body adjusts accordingly.
Have you made any videos (I’m sure you have) for women who are postmenopausal and can’t get rid of their belly that seemed to appear overnight? I’m 5 feet tall and did but never really had to work out. Now I don’t recognize myself. I have at least 15 lbs of fat to lose. I’m on HRT, btw, if that helps. I eat well, don’t drink alcohol, BUT I’m a terrible sleeper (I’ve had a sleep study done. It’s that bad - and they think it’s genetic).
Besos! 😘 desde 🇲🇽
Thank you! ✅ I need to pay attention to every word here and print it on my arm. I might seriously. I am out of control. My Stomach looks like I ate a bag of rolls…
Love what you do ! I'm sure you've talked about this before but I always have issues with portions, I eat healthy but I feel like I overeat with my amounts. Can you make a video about this ? Thank you
You make it sound so simple. I am going to try this. I need to lose that last 5-10 for my wedding. I normally work out lift + hitt cardio 4-5x per week + 2-3 mile brisk walk every day. Is that too much!? I eat around 1600 calories. Maybe that is not enough. How do I know how much I burn per day? BMR??
Thank you for this video! I thought I wasn't pushing hard enough then I would starve myself for a couple of days, then my body would obviously complain, and I just thought I was a lost cause. This was really helpful. Thank you! 💖
Great video! When you say no more than 5 hours a week of working out is that cardio or does that include strength training? For example is 4 days of 1 hour cardio and 2 days of strength training ok?
Basically what she is saying is don't cut calories drastically and accept that you need to lose the weight more slowly. If the lack of visible progress on the scale is bothering you, avoid foods that cause water retention. What I do is I go Mifflin St. Jeor calorie intake calculator. I calculate how many calories I would need at sedentary level of activity at the weight i want to be. So if I want to be 110 lbs, that would be about 1300 calories. Then I stay at that while exercising between 30 minutes to 45 minutes per day, which includes a 10 minute cardio(burpies). It's not a drastic cut from what I'd need to sustain my weight, but within about a month I'm down 5lbs. Losing weight fast with super low calories and cardio backfires.
I would like to know how to loose weight when you have a very very slow metabolism: just heard that it's not true?! On a normal day I burn around 1300 cal. I can't just stop eating of course! I don't drink don't smoke, exercise 3 times a week, don't really eat junk food or processed food or breads pasta etc... Only on occasion when having friends over, but I never over do it. Last year I went vegan for one month ( hubby's idea!) and I gained 10 lb! Just turned 50 and not sure what to do?!
I eat 6-8 hours/day, peri menopausal. Stuck on the last 5 vanity pounds :( I eat clean, clean fast, no alcohol/processed foods, good sleep hygiene, exercise 6 days/wk, strength, yoga etc. It's gotta be my hormones. Not sure how to unstick this
1) drink water 64 ounces per day 2) max 5 hours workout per week 3) eat potassium 4) sleep 7-8 hours 5) no sugar 6) no refined grains 7) no alcohol 8) 500 calorie deficit per day 9) min salt -LOSE : 1,5 pounds less per week
dont go over 2,000 mg of sodium

I’m 5 feet tall and did but never really had to work out. Now I don’t recognize myself. I have at least 15 lbs of fat to lose. I’m on HRT, btw, if that helps. I eat well, don’t drink alcohol, BUT I’m a terrible sleeper (I’ve had a sleep study done. It’s that bad - and they think it’s genetic).
Love your hair and brows!! Thanks for the tips
Wow, the science of losing weight really makes everything simple 😲
Thank you
Wow, Amazing sharing 👍😊
Besos! 😘 desde 🇲🇽
I love this advice!
Thank you! ✅ I need to pay attention to every word here and print it on my arm. I might seriously. I am out of control. My Stomach looks like I ate a bag of rolls…
Thank you! When you reduce your calories by 500 is this your BMR + your activity number? Or just from your BMR?
Love your channel! Perfect straight forward information from a professional.
Awsome video. Thankyou.
I cannot ignore how gorgeous this woman is!!!! 😳💜
Thank you for all the gems 💎 you give us 🙌🏾
Love what you do !
BMR??
I’ll try this
Any advice on what method/calculation to use to determine calories burned per day?
Thank you for this video! I thought I wasn't pushing hard enough then I would starve myself for a couple of days, then my body would obviously complain, and I just thought I was a lost cause. This was really helpful. Thank you! 💖
Great video! Thanks for the advice! 🤩
LOVE YOU! Thank you Jillian! ❤️🙏🦋
Julian you are my fitness guru!!!
I loved this video, very informative! Also love all videos with daily food ideas for optimal health/energy.
I love your shirt in this video! What is the brand??
Great video! When you say no more than 5 hours a week of working out is that cardio or does that include strength training? For example is 4 days of 1 hour cardio and 2 days of strength training ok?
I think she means 5 hours total
Love these videos!
Loved this Jillian!
*lose
I eat 6-8 hours/day, peri menopausal. Stuck on the last 5 vanity pounds :( I eat clean, clean fast, no alcohol/processed foods, good sleep hygiene, exercise 6 days/wk, strength, yoga etc. It's gotta be my hormones. Not sure how to unstick this
Have you tried weighing your food on a scale? …I’m struggling here too. Love how JM calls it ‘Vanity’ lbs 👍
