Thank you for this Jillian- such clear and helpful advice. I have re-watched this video multiple times to keep me grounded in the last few months. What really stuck with me is when we go TOO hard our body will panic and hold onto fat.
I did it- as a note to anyone wanting to lose that last 10 lbs it took me 4 months instead of 2. Though, it feels SO sustainable. I tracked food and movement and staying in a 500 calorie per day deficit with a focus on eating high protein. With that said, I didn’t do it perfectly and I had ice cream just about every day (budgeted into my calories). Here I am, sitting 10 lbs lighter without having to go to any extremes.

I’ve lost 20lbs since March 2021 doing EXACTLY this plus eating within a 6-8 hour window. I track what I eat (it’s easier to do if you literally eat whole food) I use the LoseIt App…bought an Apple Watch to check my movement and calories, and exercise 5-7 days a week for an hour. It can also be 30 mins morning/ 30 min evening. Just takes DISCIPLINE👍

Thank you Jillian for putting my ‘last 10lbs weight loss journey’ into perspective when you called it ‘vanity pounds’. My BMI is 21and body fat is 18% having lost 60lbs in 20 months, feel and look a lot better, dropped several clothes sizes, had gr8 feedback from family, etc, have more energy and vitality. I think I have it in my head that I need to lose that extra weight to look leaner and sharper when I already look and feel gr8. Very helpful tips - thanks 🙏 .

Thank you, Jilian!! You're workouts helped me loose 40lbs, and maybe this video will be the key to loose the last 10...

Hello, Jillian!! How are you doing? I have been a fan of yours ever since you were on The Biggest Loser. You did a wonderful job of training your team!! You made sure the team members stayed motivated by exercising tough love and didn't let them give up. After watching that show for a while, I can see how you got the reputation as being a tough trainer. You were very tough, but in a good way. Everything you did was motivated by the fact that you care about the people you train. You're also very compassionate and knowledgeable. I have your book Master Your Metabolism. I've been watching several of the videos you have made during the pandemic. All of your videos are very informative!

I need to chill, eat my meal plan, DRINK WATER, and cut out more booze. I can't decide that the day I feel like drinking, I only have multivitamins and one premier protein shake just so I can drink 4 vodka martinis and feel like I'm not over doing calories. THANK YOU for this video. I am also a small human being so those extra 5-10 pounds really show on my smaller frame. What do you find to be the best method to track calorie intake & expenditure? Any specific app? I follow all your other suggestions (water, sleep, exercise, eat healthy, avoid refined carbs) - except for my 1 glass of wine daily & tracking calories, it is so time consuming it seems. However, I am mid-40’s & in the best shape of my life, just those vanity pounds! PS: I’ve been doing “Ripped in 30” for 10 years & NOTHING gets me in better shape!

After my first son, the lowest I could get was 127lbs and it was the hardest thing to get to and it wasn’t even worth it. So 130-135lbs felt better on me but I had to accept that I wasn’t going to get to my pre pregnancy weight unless I went to those crazy extremes. Now I have packed on the pounds over the past 10 years so the ultimate goal is 130lbs but I’m not going to kill myself to get there fast. The goal is to get there at a healthy pace so my body adjusts accordingly.

I’m 5 feet tall and did but never really had to work out. Now I don’t recognize myself. I have at least 15 lbs of fat to lose. I’m on HRT, btw, if that helps. I eat well, don’t drink alcohol, BUT I’m a terrible sleeper (I’ve had a sleep study done. It’s that bad - and they think it’s genetic).

You make it sound so simple. I am going to try this. I need to lose that last 5-10 for my wedding. I normally work out lift + hitt cardio 4-5x per week + 2-3 mile brisk walk every day. Is that too much!? I eat around 1600 calories. Maybe that is not enough. How do I know how much I burn per day? BMR??

Any advice on what method/calculation to use to determine calories burned per day?

Thank you for this video! I thought I wasn't pushing hard enough then I would starve myself for a couple of days, then my body would obviously complain, and I just thought I was a lost cause. This was really helpful. Thank you! 💖

Great video! When you say no more than 5 hours a week of working out is that cardio or does that include strength training? For example is 4 days of 1 hour cardio and 2 days of strength training ok?

I think she means 5 hours total

Basically what she is saying is don't cut calories drastically and accept that you need to lose the weight more slowly. If the lack of visible progress on the scale is bothering you, avoid foods that cause water retention. What I do is I go Mifflin St. Jeor calorie intake calculator. I calculate how many calories I would need at sedentary level of activity at the weight i want to be. So if I want to be 110 lbs, that would be about 1300 calories. Then I stay at that while exercising between 30 minutes to 45 minutes per day, which includes a 10 minute cardio(burpies). It's not a drastic cut from what I'd need to sustain my weight, but within about a month I'm down 5lbs. Losing weight fast with super low calories and cardio backfires.

I would like to know how to loose weight when you have a very very slow metabolism: just heard that it's not true?! On a normal day I burn around 1300 cal. I can't just stop eating of course! I don't drink don't smoke, exercise 3 times a week, don't really eat junk food or processed food or breads pasta etc... Only on occasion when having friends over, but I never over do it. Last year I went vegan for one month ( hubby's idea!) and I gained 10 lb! Just turned 50 and not sure what to do?!

I eat 6-8 hours/day, peri menopausal. Stuck on the last 5 vanity pounds :( I eat clean, clean fast, no alcohol/processed foods, good sleep hygiene, exercise 6 days/wk, strength, yoga etc. It's gotta be my hormones. Not sure how to unstick this

Have you tried weighing your food on a scale? …I’m struggling here too. Love how JM calls it ‘Vanity’ lbs 👍
