Of course if you have a job where you walk a lot, or you generally walk a lot then it works, but if you'd be sitting on the couch all day doing nothing and eating the amount you're supposed to eat, you won't lose weight. That's what she means with it's 80% exercise. Because if you don't move at all you won't lose weight. Even if "only" burn 300 kcal extra a day by working or doing whatever you do, it will still take you a long time to lose a pound or two.

And at 194 lb and 5/7 I look best when I'm about 165 and feel best at that way. Stretch marks are normal, everybody has them, there's nothing to be ashamed of. They are a result of a change, we all through change, be it weight gain and then loss, pregnancy or a growth spurt.
      Never been overweight or pregnant, but I have stretch marks, they are from my growth spurt. Some of them have started to fade, I grew to my full length, 175cm, in 6 grade and I grew fast. The ones on my shoulder blades, arms and knees are mostly gone, the bigger ones on my knees can still be seen. Because my chest and hips grew later, the stretch marks on them are visible and prominent.
      People are always surprised that I have stretch marks and they just thought theirs were a result of their weight. It's just life, both men and women have them. They are like any other scar, they tell a story.

      I lose more when I don't exercise. My appetite is more controllable when I'm not running or lifting heavy weights. Current science says that while exercising builds muscle and that helps with fat burning, breathing out more than you breathe in is also key which is why people who meditate a bunch and never exercise stay so thin. Melted fat is exhaled, not sweated out. Count to 4 to breathe in through the nose and 8 count for the exhale.

Fasting is healthy though. & Exercise is body building. It’s not necessary for weight/fat loss. Many people have lost weight without doing much exercise, bc the key to weight/fat loss is what you eat & how much you eat (a calorie deficit). Still, ofc it would be better if you exercised, it’s very healthy (physically & mentally) and it can speed up the process.

      Adis Kiros It has taken me lots of trial and error to find the right exercises for me. I discovered HITT workouts worked best for weightloss! I was also diagnosed with IBS, and I had to adjust my already healthy diet. I discovered that a big reason why I have always struggled with weightloss was because my body couldn't digest certain foods (and slowed down my metabolism). Also, I count calories because if I don't I over or under eat (plus I have to pay attention to what I eat due to my restrictive diet). I make sure that I eat balanced macronutrient meals and exercise weekly even if its just pilates. Its honestly just a lot of consistency and not giving up even when you have a set back (: Are you trying to lose weight too?

    I tried doing like 1,300 calories a day for a couple of weeks and was always exhausted and couldn’t get through my workouts. I bumped it up to around 1,600 -1,700 and I’m still losing the weight much faster because I was putting way more energy into my workouts! And back in college, I was struggling with anorexia, I was pretty much always sedentary aside from walking to and from class and I just wasn’t losing the weight, I felt lousy and didn’t have energy to even walk. So yeah, definitely works better to eat more and have the energy to exercise more with better nutrients in your system than it is to starve yourself.

    • @Nameless_mixes
      @Nameless_mixes 4 года назад

      Attempting Anonymity 1800 sounds perfect and I’m 5’10” so I can get away with the 100-200 less than you lol But yeah, if either of us did 1300 for a prolonged time period, we’d both be dead 😂😵

    • @Nameless_mixes
      @Nameless_mixes 4 года назад

      Attempting Anonymity I know. It does suck. But hopefully they understand that you can make the same caloric deficit by eating properly and exercising regularly as you would by starving yourself for multiple days. Not to mention that your metabolism slows down when you fast. So starving actually takes longer than being healthy (and it’s way more painful...).

    • @Nameless_mixes
      @Nameless_mixes 4 года назад

      Attempting Anonymity Fasting/juicing definitely helps to remove any food stuck in your body, reduce water weight, etc and helps you feel refreshes. That’s part of why people fast for religious purposes. They believe the feeling afterwards is a reward for their work. So doing two 24 hour intervals a month maximum of fasting can help refresh you. But consistent or prolonged fasting depletes you of the nutrients your body needs to function. All three macromolecules are used by the body, and depriving yourself is never a good option.
      And intermittent fasting works much better than 24 hour or longer fasts because your body is being trained to know when to increase its metabolism so your food intake is metabolized much more efficiently. So I would always suggest that over starving yourself.
      But your body

    • @Nameless_mixes
      @Nameless_mixes 4 года назад

      Attempting Anonymity Not all of the food you eat leaves the body at once. Chyme can get stuck in the intestines. That’s why it’s important to have fiber in your diet because it has an affinity for those molecules and grabs it along the way.
      You feel refreshed because all of the junk stuck in your GI track has been removed so you feel lighter and more energetic.
      If you wanna do it because you feel like it makes you feel better, then by all means, that’s your prerogative. But I’m not just spewing a bunch of random theories/nonsense. I have a strong background in health, fitness, nutrition, anatomy, and physiology. You can make up your own mind, but I would never give dieting advice without any scientific backing.

    The thing she didn’t say though is that alternate day fasting doesn’t throw you into starvation mode, since you are eating heartily every other day. In fact studies show an INCREASE in metabolism after ADF. Plus you don’t lose muscle as fasting promotes increased HGH in the body.
    Regular calorie restriction also leads to weight loss but shows a reduced metabolism at the end of 6 months, say. If you don’t believe me watch some Jason Fung videos and come back to me after lol ;) he backs up his claims with scientific peer reviewed studies

      If alternate day fast makes you put less food in your mouth go for it, but its a gimmick. You have to eat less and/or exercise more. If you don't want to lose muscle while you're reducing, EXERCISE YOUR MUSCLES. Find some people who are thin and have always been thin and do what they do. You'll find people that eat small portions of healthy food most of the time and exercise almost every day. Boring but it works.

    • @trueblue1359
      @trueblue1359 4 года назад +1

      Susan Holl I’m guessing you haven’t looked at any of the metabolic studies comparing a fasting approach vs. Classic daily calorie restriction... I’m not saying some of what you say is true but ADF is certainly not a ‘gimmick’ as you say, when looking at the science.

    • @susanholl5994
      @susanholl5994 4 года назад

      @@trueblue1359 it does make a small change to your metabolism but so does talking a short walk after dinner. If you want to make a large change you have to increase your muscles to fat ratio. Anecdotally I come from a big family, some overweight some lean and my sister and I hear the latest fasting/eating strategy frequently from the overweight crowd. I'm 54, 5'7", 120#, postmenopausal. My sister is thin too. Both of our parents are obese, eat a lot of pizza and don't exercise. Sister runs and hour a day. I do a mix of cardio and strength every day for an hour plus long hikes on weekends. Sis and I eat healthier food (and get teased for it) and far less of it. We get up earlier and exercise before breakfast (and get teased for that too) and then drink our black coffee while others slam down coffee with cream and sugar with their muffins. Then we get told we are "lucky" we are thin. Sorry but that's horsepoop. Same gene pool, different lifestyle. We don't do wacky fasts, eat intermittently, take supplements etc etc. Nor do any of our thin friends. If we pick up a few pounds at Christmas or vacation (who doesn't?!) we eat a little less, exercise a little more til normal. No diet. It's like Jillian says, eat better and less of it, move more, be patient. Put down the books and videos and go exercise instead. Put the food $ saved into a fabulous pair of shoes :D

    • @trueblue1359
      @trueblue1359 4 года назад

      Susan Holl hey, i like the sound of your lifestyle :) mine is similar and i hate the people who say ‘you’re lucky’ too, disregarding that its a choice to some extent and that we live our looks. Albeit easy once you are in it. My comment was aimed at people with potentially lots of weight to lose, not those who are lean and maintaining. There is scientific evidence from a few studies showing that regular daily calorie restriction over 6 months say, decreases metabolism, whereas mixing it up with ADF (for example - hardly a whacky fast and also totally free) does not produce the same drop in metabolism but rather an INCREASE in BMR. Start to research and you will see what I mean. I’m not disputing that your lifestyle works and works for many but if i were to recommend a weight loss method to anyone, i would suggest ADF over daily cal restriction for sure. I’m a PT and work out regularly so I know all about body comp hehe ;).
      What I’m trying to explain (badly I think as I am tired and about to sleep lol) is that the metabolic effect has an evolutionary backing. Watch Jason Fung and you’ll see... The reason fasting gets less support is that it makes no one any money and is entirely FREE and no one can sell much on it/for it. Having said that, stick with what you like and what works for you!
      One more thing specifically on JM is that the show she was on the biggest loser has received A LOT of criticism and they never have a reunion as all the contestants have regained the weight. This is explained by Dr Fung and he shows actual studies showing the extreme drop in metabolism they suffered due to daily calorie restriction. As I said this drop is not experienced by people following a fasting type programme

I still use some of her older workouts (I exercise 5 days a week, and have been doing it quite regularly for years, and her Killer Abs videos still "kill" me, lol). She's just awesome and smart. I turned 42 a few days ago and if I'm still into fitness and staying healthy to date, despite my office job, I owe it to her. I never needed to lose weight, but I needed motivation to have a healthy, active life. Her words and fierce attitude just changed me to the core years ago and made me feel like I'm capable of anything I set my mind on, IF I do it the right way, and if I'm also capable of accepting and loving myself regardless, while doing the best I can. Thank you Jillian!! ❤️🤘🏻
