    My son doesent like getting his hair cut as has special needs he’s gets upset a lot so I need to cut it

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  2 года назад

      I understand that completely I've worked with lots of kids with all manner of special needs, sensory issues especially can be scary for some kids. Building up over a long period of time can help, like starting out with simply combing the hair for a few minutes.
      Then next time maybe cut a few bits. no one knows your son better than you, I'm sure he will come round for you but it might take time. I hope you can find some useful tips on here for cutting

    Amazing that Hugo sat still that long! I use to have to get dear wife to hold the boys. (I was joking about using guntape)

    Have you considered doing a video on "parting " hair ? I know that with long hair having the parting correct before trimming the ends is vital. Maybe some of your female viewers would appreciate something like that. I know from personal experience that once I see the parts in the right place my confidence level to take clippers to my hair rises.

      How to use pins to pin your top hair once you part etc.....just an idea.

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  3 года назад +2

      I could do that. It's definitely a video to make but will need to wait until the shop reopens so I can use a client with longer and more hair than me

      @@theoneminutebarber I liked the way you didn’t use sections on the young lad, perhaps when he is due a haircut next time would you be able to do another video including sections on him? I’ve a similar hairstyle with a heavy fringe and faded sides and it would be a great tutorial for me haha barbers closed in ireland and have been since Christmas

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  3 года назад +1

      Sections are a good way the control the hair and keep certain areas out of the way when cutting. I still use sections but don't use section clips. They are useful but if you can control the hair with water it works just as well.

    Your son is adorable. Great Video.
    I find when my sides and back are done the hair on top leaves a distinct line once I let it down over what I worked on. Trimming the top (tips) helps blend a little but I still see separation between top and bottom half. I guess the right combination of attachments. would be the fix ? I don't see how a number 2 and long hair on top could possibly blend unless both blend in unison is some way.

    • @theoneminutebarber

      It gets harder the shorter the number to be honest. Also don't be too critical of your cut. Remember that it is a self cut, what you are producing is way better than any self cut I've seen, ok it's not barber shop work but what you have been able to do is pretty good.
      If you are still stuck with a line my suggestion would be to work higher in little incrimants. For instance add a half with the lever and go a little tighter, just a little mind. Then add a whole step up etc....

      @@theoneminutebarber Wow compliments from the chef :) Thanks. I am sitting on a new haircut and the back is looking snappy but I still made a few errors. Will keep growing for two weeks then try again. I have been watching your videos in pieces quite often. Each time I do I pick up one or more things I missed the previous times. I will definitely get you a decent pic at some point. And YES lets all be kind to ourselves :)

  • @kissme4492
    @kissme4492 3 года назад +1

    I also find that I go up the sides a lot higher then I do at the occipital bone in back. After watching you it seems if the back (occipital area ) does not get raised as high as the sides...meaning you drop the back little ?

    • @theoneminutebarber
      @theoneminutebarber  3 года назад +3

      Around the sides and back of the head there will be a point where it protrudes the most sometimes it's the same height all the way round but rarely. That point where it protrudes the most is really where the clipper should be going straight up and leaving the head. If you go up over that blending will be tighter and a lot harder.

      @@theoneminutebarber Great. That makes sense with the Egg/Oval theory you gave me. I also just figured out that a lot of my uneven lines were actually top hair that I wasn't able to clip off the first time going around the sides and off the occipital bone. I had to comb that hair forward and cut/ trim the top as normal then comb it backwards as I do. The result is a much neater transition between top and back hair.I tried cutting the top parted to the side like you do but I prefer grabbing hair when all is combed forward. I have actually seen both in a barber shop. What would be the difference between those two grabbing/parting techniques ?
