Awesome teaching. I'm retired (68 yo) always been interested in Barbering. Cut my kids hair and a few friends. I've looked into getting licensed ( in South Carolina, USA) ...but the schools and practicals are too long (1,500 hours+) along with state exams. I'm interested in cutting hair as a contribution to Veterans communities and Assisted Living facilities. No pay involved. I've been Blessed and want to Bless others with a new skill and service. I feel strongly about saving the dignity of elder people, many whom feel forgotten, a haircut and shave could provide a boost emotionally. Perhaps. Just found your channel...Stay Well and Thank You....Alan

Great Video! You're the best RUclips teacher I have found. Thank you for going at a slower speed. Most go so fast, and I have no formal barbering knowledge. Just a grandma wanting to cut kids/husband hair. I think it's so FUN too!!! My thought on your friend Barry is a look with a "goatee." I actually thought you were going to stop there when removing some of the beard....would have looked great!😊

I find it relaxing listening to you talk about what you know and offering opinions and decisive advice. There is no uncertainty or doubt in your method. Personally I have a hard time telling a barber or hair cutter how I want my hair cut, I hope by listening I'll learn what makes a good hair cut and will be able to describe that to the barber or hair cutter. They always seem worried or in a panic when I ask them to use their good judgement.

Getting my second start in life. Went to college, got the degree, it doesn't do much for me. Last year I was laid off from a full time office job, decided to go to cosmetology school (no good barber school in my area of the US, plus it was more affordable). When you are using the shears to cut the sides of the top, are you cutting them at the same horizontal angle as the middle of the top? Or is it at a slight angle to meet the connection with the sides of the head?

It’s probably at a slight angle. Don’t feel restricted by lines. Remember we are working with a curved object and you can adapt when you need to

I have always cut hair thinking that each client is a different unique head and different hair texture and growth pattern. Glad you do varied ages and styles and hair types. The average one style suits all heads and hair types barber these days really makes me cringe.

This will only work with a 2 or a 3. Anything shorter will go dramatically short

I went to a crap barber school. where most of my cuts were screaming, head shaking children or old people with alopecia. I want to get better because my tool box of knowledge is slim

I’m watching this for an easy way to teach my cosmetology students. You are awesome. I love the clipper flip over method for blending.
