My 81 year old father was diagnosed with terminal stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I had to learn how to give him intravenous antibiotics through his chemo port, then de-access the needle from his port. He doesn't have the strength or energy to see a barber and really isn't up to having anyone come to his house. Since I give myself a haircut, basically a buzz cut, pretty much the same length all over, except for the sides which are tighter, he somehow thinks I can cut his. 😅 He keeps his hair similar to this gentleman, but maybe a little longer to compensate for his thinning hair. Chemo will cause him to lose it anyway, but until then, I'll do my best to keep him trimmed up. I've been watching several of your videos and I think I can do it, but I told my dad keep his expectations low.😊 Thanks for the video, wish me luck.

@@theoneminutebarber I don't believe I'll get the opportunity to do it. Unfortunately we had to get hospice for in home care. He's too weak for chemo, and too weak to sit up. I at least get the honor of caring for my father in his final days. Thank you for the videos and the reply.

Sadly, my father passed away September 6 due to pancreatic cancer. I was fortunate enough that he allowed me to cut his hair twice. The first time, I cut it the way he liked it, parted on the side. Unfortunately, after only one treatment of chemotherapy, his hair was falling out so fast that it was becoming uncomfortable for him, so he let me give him a buzz cut. I miss him deeply, but it was a huge honor to be here for both my parents and to be able to care for him in his final days. Your videos allowed me to do, just one more thing for my father and I appreciate that so much.

Awesome teaching. I'm retired (68 yo) always been interested in Barbering. Cut my kids hair and a few friends. I've looked into getting licensed ( in South Carolina, USA) ...but the schools and practicals are too long (1,500 hours+) along with state exams. I'm interested in cutting hair as a contribution to Veterans communities and Assisted Living facilities. No pay involved. I've been Blessed and want to Bless others with a new skill and service. I feel strongly about saving the dignity of elder people, many whom feel forgotten, a haircut and shave could provide a boost emotionally. Perhaps. Just found your channel...Stay Well and Thank You....Alan

I've been cutting my husband's and my son's hair since 2020. Every few months or so I like to watch a video to refresh/remind myself of the process and to make sure I don't forget any steps. I definitely feel like the haircuts have gotten gradually better over the years. This video was awesome and just the right speed with the scissors and the voiceover. I loved the slow scissor-over-comb work. Thanks!

I find it relaxing listening to you talk about what you know and offering opinions and decisive advice. There is no uncertainty or doubt in your method. Personally I have a hard time telling a barber or hair cutter how I want my hair cut, I hope by listening I'll learn what makes a good hair cut and will be able to describe that to the barber or hair cutter. They always seem worried or in a panic when I ask them to use their good judgement.

That's a nice haircut. During covid I learned to cut my own hair and so my husband we didn't go to the hair dresser anymore but everytime I cut his hair I have to watch again to be more confident of what I'm doing. So save money by doing our own hair. I'm getting better and a bit faster. He doesn't want to go back to his barber anymore.

In your video you asked why we are watching this video. I am looking to competently cut hair for my mom, dad, husband, kid, and baby. They all prefer it about the same, 2” on top and fade to zero, but have different hair types from fine and straight to coarse and wavy. Your videos and techniques gave me the confidence to try it. So far they’ve been patient and happy with the results.

I have a husband and 4 sons, ages between 2-8. It's a big money saver to cut their hair myself. My husband actually prefers it. I have done only with the machine for the last 7 years, but I have been learning to cut with the scissors on top to have that extra length. The kids are small, but in time their style preferences will differ from the regular 'short sides and longer top' cut I do. So I'm just trying to soak in as much of information and practise as I can. :) I've already had help from your videos. Thank you! :)

I started cutting my husband’s hair during covid and just never stopped. We just do buzz cuts. His hair is starting to thin on the top, so I’m trying to learn how to do different cuts to make it less noticeable. I also have two sons, one who has autism and refuses to go to a salon so I’ve started cutting his hair. I leave the top and buzz the sides but it doesn’t look as nice as I’d like it to, so trying to figure out how to improve there; it’s hard because with him I have to be fast. You asked why. My husband has difficult to cut hair, and rarely does anyone get the block graduation right, it sticks up all over the place. We travel a lot so get someone different every time. Started to wonder if I could do it with a bit of practice. Very useful video!! Given me the confidence to give it a crack. Let you know how it goes

I thought your video was very educational! I learned some new hair cutting “ terms “ .I’m watching because my husband wants his hair short for summer. His hair is very soft and thin . I thought about how to go about that using a hair trimmer. I’ve not used one in cutting hair , only around the neck and ear area. I have been cutting hair on family members since I was 16 yrs old. I’m now 63. I love doing it and without being taught properly I would say it’s a gift.. Thanks for sharing your video. I’m not sure if the trimmer is right for my husband’s hair type?
