      Furthermore, Jake fought retired MMA fighters or those who were never good strikers to begin with.

      ​@@mrb2643 most of the time they just barely graze his face, his timing and head movement is damn near perfect in most spars and fights and his footwork is another thing to take not on bc he's ALWAYS outside the power hand and I think he's willing to eat jabs as long as the power punches are being thrown awkwardly and without the right timing and power..as for the hands, he generates all his strength from his back and hips framing every punch and leaping into them sorta like tyson

      @@mrb2643 It's to bait for counters. Low guard also makes his punches less telegraphed & predicable and also helps conserve energy for later rounds. When you tense up you run out of energy faster. That's why he's able to come back and still have ko power by the 5th round. There are videos of him you can find explaining.

      I’d say both, the sets of rules are different.
      I agree that MMA is the ultimate way of fighting, but blowing is definitely a gladiator sport as well.
      I was an amateur boxer during a few years, and my best friend is a wrestler : the amount of pressure and fear people have from these combat sports are not the same. Boxing is creating fear. You risk very being when you enter the ring.
      That’s why I’d say MMA fighters and boxers are equally gladiator.

      I think he was worried about a counter from Alex. Yould see Alex was getting tagged up. When he started landing heavy, it turned the session around quickly. Skill wise, as far as throwing hands, Alex isn't as skilled as an Olympic boxer but he can learn from them.
