I know it's long overdue but I promised to make this video and I'm a man of my word. I think Emery might've taken down the original two videos since I can't find them, but since I've already made this I figure why not. Anyways please don't send him no hate on my account, I actually did like his video for what it's worth...but I disagree.

As someone who doesn't have a single problem Amy during the Dreamcast and so called Dark Era, (really the Meta Era deserves that title but I digress) what I noticed that people don't get about Sonic and Amy's relationship is Sonic has never had a problem with Amy herself and even back then did like her back in his typical shy way. (Hence why he agreed to their first offical date in Unleashed as seen in Black Knight) The issue is Sonic uncomfortable with any physical displays of any emotion, not just from Amy, which is the real reason why he used to run from her. You can see this more clearly with Sonic X with Tails in Season 3. (While I disagree with her on the current direction of the series, I think Frontiers and Superstars is a return to form, Fukurou-Hoseki's Sonic is a introvert a great watch into understanding Sonic's personality) Once Amy calmed down and stopped trying to constantly glomp him, he became much more receptive as a result, outright saying in Frontiers that he should've made up his mind up about her sooner and wanting to share a umbrella with her. (which is further shown/foreshadowed? in a cute easter egg in Superstars) Plus since IDW is canon now it seems Sonic and Amy are going on their second offical date in the tail end of the most recent issue of this writing.
I think there's an argument to be made that Sonic's feelings for Amy changed over time (the Sonic Adventure 2 Battle website says he doesn't love her [EDIT: at least in English], but by Sonic '06 she was his "long-time love" according to the oracle of Soleanna). Apart from that, I agree with you. I would point out that (as far as I know) the latest issue of IDW Sonic takes place _before_ Frontiers, but I actually think that strengthens your points.

You are correct IDW is still before Frontiers. I didn't mean to imply a timeline placement regarding IDW, I just remembered the issue when I was about to end the comment and so added it in, which is why its at the end.
No, Sonic is never shy, and if you can tell, she’s much younger than typically expected.
And besides I don’t think he outright loves Amy as more than a friend, it is just that even she can’t take a hint. It is one-sided and you know it.

@@TheSwordsman100 Mazkeraid is a pretty good example of why I rarely engage in shipping debates anymore. The mental gymnastics are just exhausting. (Probably the silliest argument I've personally come across was "Sonic misunderstood Amy in Unleashed and didn't realize she was asking him on a romantic date".) Just remember--people leaving asinine comments won't stop Hot Topic from selling their Sonic ❤ Amy t-shirts.
Before giving any thoughts to this, just one thing: what's up with these guys making background music so frickin loud? Do they even check videos during montage? It's almost 2024 for crying out loud
Yeah. It helps not making the video sound dry but still he should've toned it down; I did the same for these clips here.
My take on this is it really comes down to the *version of Sonic* for which girl he should be with. His lifestyle and history between Archie and the games are vastly different. Archie Sonic was fine with dating and having a steady home, while Game/IDW Sonic prefers running all over the world and not that fond of physical affection. Not exactly ideal for relationships. And we can kind of see this in the reboot. Sonic is now more like his game counterpart, and he and Sally are just friends (I know SEGA said no more relationships), and it feels like we got a lot of Sonamy teases from Sonic. I've seen someone say Sonally is an example of "opposites attract" while Sonamy is "kindred spirits," and I like that. I know the back and forth with Sonic and Sally can be entertaining, but too much fighting in a relationship isn't a good thing. Sonic and Amy get into arguments too, but much less frequently. The games and IDW comics give Sonic and Amy a special connection that can be read as platonic or romantic, which I think is very important. You can't have love without friendship, and that's what really makes relationships work.
I'm pretty neutral on this issue, since I actually like both pairings in different ways, but I find it hilarious that Emery apparently thinks his group invented the concept of romantic chemistry.
Jesus! I was taken off guard by that guy's audio. The loud music and the barely audible voice. I want to be as polite as I can, but there are better ways to get people's attention.

First of all, what's the point of figuring out what character came first? If comparing Mona Lisa debuted in 1990 and Ninjara first appeared in 1992 yet most people lean more into RaphXNinjara because she had much more moments and thus relationship development, even though Mona is more popular.
Speaking about chemistry, does Emery even know the society? People tend to ship everyone with everyone, even characters who had zero interactions with each other or even never met. Plus, they can always rewrite character traits to make ship dynamic more natural or appealing, I'm sure Sonamy fans did that in 2000's when it was not the best era for Amy's character.
Hell, Five Nights at Freddy's has ships even though it's a franchise about haunted robots killing people.
I think media really exaggerated "First kiss=life long soulmate" trope. Many people have their first kiss in school or college but most of them end up with completely different people in adulthood. It's sweet to see long-awaited first kiss in media like Aang and Katara or Danny and Sam, but I want movies, cartoons, games to establish couples early on and then play with their interactions and development.
Again, Sonally fans just don't get it they already won while ago, the ship had 25 year long history, many moments, Sonic and Sally had kids and everything yet Sonamy had nothing but hints and Boom was the closest thing of them dating. I'm all for bringing back Sally as much as them, but because of her character, Sonally should stay in SatAM and Archie, its time has long passed and it was never essential to Sally's character(even though she was basically created to be Sonic's prize just like Princess Peach).
It's good to have own opinion and consider Sonally a healthier couple, but complaining about it and blaming other couple and people who like it is just a waste of time. Nobody stops people from doing things their own way, nobody stopped people behind Archie Sonic Online and Fleetway Online to continue the story and relationships.
Hell, since I brought up SpongeBob in one of your last videos people still show interest and appreciation for SpongeBobXSandy ship no matter how much Hillenberg tried to bury it to never become canon. Even I since wanting to train in writing my original stories began to work on SpongeBob fanfic as sort of re-imaginatin of OG series inspired by one of my favorite sitcoms about restaurant worker trying to become chef.

second.... does it even matter? I am neutral with Sonally and Sonamy, but here is the thing, no one wins. It's basically like what Stan Lee stated with who will win against who in a fight, the only one who wins or chose who is better is. well the writers themselves.
Sonic and Amy are great friends, and Sonic does share to care about Amy. The only reason why he runs away is because Amy tries to keep him close, but Sonic, either because he wants to be free like the wind or he is shy in his own way, tends to run away from her, hence she had to bring out the hammer. While played for laughs, they went a bit overboard sometimes, at least in my opinion. Which is why I am fine with Frontiers, MOSTH, and Dream team simmer her down a bit
Sally and Sonic have some chemistry, especially with the comics, but unlike Amy where she played off of her bubbly personality, they played off on Sonic's attitude, in the tv show and the comics. they often share romance, and breakups, kinda like a relationship. They poke fun with each other but not in a mean way, they are even close friends. Their relationship is kinda realistic as much as Amy Rose and Sonic.
If Sega decided to bring her back, that's cool, but if they want to use Amy rose, that's fine to...though I would like to see the FF again someday.
Plus (since this guy uses Archie) Amy is willing to let Sonic to have his happiness with Sally, even though she is after Sonic. So by that logic, that person is doing the opposite as to what Amy Rose did.
Whew that's a lot of words...sorry about that.
You are right though ultimately it doesn't really matter and we all have our own perspectives. It's just fun to have some engagement everyone once in awhile, plus I've been meaning to respond to this video for a few months since it's a follow up to my video.
