I honestly think the shoes work by some mind connected panel to Shadow's brain whenever he wants to activate them to fly or to go fast on ground. He is an artificial life form made by an human being who is an professor. So likely that Shadow not only has chaos energy inside of him, but also maybe some cybernetic enhancements inside of his brain or body, just not seeable from the outside. Awesome video by the way.
These just don’t make physical sense, and they are for sure fantasy flair. The idea of combining cybernetics with Shadow’s inherent Chaos Powers to give him full control of the shoes will be the best explanation. The shoes are probably the most a part of the body for Shadow compared to any other character.
Watch in Sonic 3 Movie explains the Shoes. In Sonic X English version Shadow said ( Many years ago Professor Gerold Robotnick endowed me with the power of Chaos Control. A normal creature like yourself doesn’t stand a chance against me.) Keep up the good work. Have a wonderful day.
