J.A.R. is making so many leaps in logic to try and defend this. It doesn't matter whether or not Synnibear is technically a p-dop-ile. It does not matter whether or not Synnibear is technically a groomer. What matters is what she specifically did. Someone can hurt you without meaning to, but the lack of intention doesn't nullify the pain itself. e.g., killing by accident will likely get you a different charge than killing with intent, but you're still getting charged with murder.
Even if Synnibear wasn't trying to be a groomer, she still did illegal things, and exposed her victim to things she shouldn't have. Someone worse than Synnibear could've easily exploited this and hurt her victim even more, because Synnibear made a minor comfortable with things they shouldn't have been. And on a different note, based on J.A.R.'s interactions with Synnibear, Synnibear will likely take even less accountability now because J.A.R.'s helping her downplay her horrific actions.
Dude it isn't even the first time Synni has been called out and apologized for this, she said she wouldn't talk to any minors on the internet anymore. At this point Synni KNOWS what she did was conditioning a minor to inappropriate behavior, she even tried to hide what she was doing from her friends and roommate.

For people who aren't involved in the animation meme community, Kittydog is an artist who is notorious for having inappropriate contact with young fans, and engaging in explicitly NSFW spaces as a minor, since she was 14. This includes expressing her zoophilic fantasies to her all-ages Discord server, sending underage fans nudes and photos of a dildo that resembled dog genitalia when she was also underage, posting content to Pornhub and e621 as a minor (she was banned from the former for obvious reasons and has complained about not being able to make a new account), posting censored porn to her RUclips channel without an age restriction, and being vocally supportive of people who enjoy feral porn or drawn CP. It was also revealed by an ex boyfriend of hers that she was a fan of loli/shota content. And that's not even all of it, since she's gotten into deep shit for things unrelated to sex. It's also very clear if you look at Birdie's old content that Kittydog groomed him. Around the time period where they were sexting, and afterwards, Birdie made countless vent animations of Kittydog harming him or vice versa.
I don't expect JAR to know about all of these things, since he's not a member of the animation meme community, but Synni is absolutely aware of at least some of the things I've just listed. Kittydog fans are well known for defending her to the ends of the earth - probably because most of them are young children and take her at her word, because they don't know any better - but seeing Synni dismiss the harm Kittydog has done to the person she used to call her best friend should be really telling. She'll say someone who is known for being a nasty person and a groomer is innocent if it makes Birdie look worse, so she can save her own ass.
Unrelated to all the Kittydog stuff, it's very convenient that JAR and Synni left out the fact that Synni has told her friends that she wants to end Birdie's life and that, after Birdie told Synni he didn't want to live with her anymore, she told him that she would drive them both off the road and kill them. Then she had the nerve to say Birdie was taking advantage of the situation with his GoFundMe to move out when Synni was telling Birdie that she would KILL HIM.

The poor dude never really got a shot at a normal life, but since moving out of his family’s home, he’s made a fucking astounding recovery. Which just makes this whole situation worse. Synni saved Birdie from the horrible situation he’d been in for all his life, she was the first person he knew IRL who made him feel safe. And then she goes and sexually harasses him, and has inappropriate contact with two minors. (Eno is the one that’s mostly talked about, but she got in trouble for sexting with a 17 year old when she was either 19 or 20, too.) Birdie just can’t catch a fuckin break man.

J.A.R. survived several dramas and started to get away from commentary, only to torpedo his career to defend a predator he had the hots for, whose face he has never seen. And he already had both a roommate and a girlfriend at that, so he wasn't just some friendless, loveless loser either. Everyone told him not to do it, and he knew it was a bad idea, yet he did it anyway. This incident didn't even involve him, yet he threw himself into this mess for some reason and tanked his reputation. He basically pulled a Tipster, except instead of loli p-rn it was a real-life grooming case.

She’s basically still inviting a discussion between herself who is an adult, and a minor, about that sex act. That’s the problem, that’s why it’s not the same as a minor looking up porn on their own. It’s the unbalanced relationship between a vulnerable minor and an adult who should know better that’s the problem. Sending porn art is a form of communication. It communicated “I want to talk about this sex act with you” or “I want you to share in my enjoyment of this porn”. It becomes a sexually charged conversation between an adult and a minor, which is grooming whether the groomer has further plans or not. It’s worse because of the friendship the victim had with Sunni, it makes them feel more pressured to go along with the stuff even if they’re uncomfortable. Which is literally how all these unfortunate teenage grooming victims online end up with trauma over being coerced into sexual stuff. No amount of censoring would fix that. She had a whole bunch of other conversations with that kid about fetishes and sex acts too, it’s not just the comic. I don’t know why JAR thought just fixating on the images would be a winning move.
