- It's mostly my opinion on why I prefer Sonamy over Sonally supported by my references.

A lot of arguments I see against Sonic being with anyone is that he doesn’t wanna slow down or stop, which makes sense due to his character.
But the thing about Amy is that she can keep up.
She can find him wherever he is, she’s capable of handling herself in combat (people often forget she’s broken in and out of jail like 3 times in canon)
Sonic never has to slow down for her because she’s a go-getter at heart! She runs after what she wants and she doesn’t let anyone or anything stop her from getting it.
If anything, she’s the one waiting for Sonic! If the idle quotes in frontiers say anything, the reason Sonic never showed affection was cause he was figuring out his feelings, which explains why he never returned her affection before, at least not directly. It was hinted he had feelings for her in Unleashed, but besides that there wasn’t much there besides a mutual friendship and respect.
That’s another reason I like their dynamic, is because they know and respect each other.
Not saying him and Sally don’t, but still. It’s important to note that Amy is canonically one of his BEST friends.
Again, that makes sense cause who else is a best friend of his? Tails. Why? Cause Tails is able to keep up.
Sally doesn’t have that, and as much as I loved her in Sonic SATAM, she was never able to keep up until the last episode with a power ring.
Amy doesn’t need special powers to keep up with him.
Amy is a go getter
Sally is not
Amy is just a better fit for him.
Again, not saying that Sally isn’t a good character, but she doesn’t fit with Sonic as well as Amy does.

We also know too with how it is, Amy just wants Sonic to be happy in the long run. Even if she can be very committed to her feelings for him, all Amy wants is to see Sonic smile. The Archie canon showed it when she found out about Fiona being with Scourge when she was revealed to be a traitor. And the games show it too that for it all, Amy wants Sonic to be happy. The fact she can keep up with him says something and even Sonic has shown how he cares *A LOT* about Amy’s well-being in a lot of ways.
I consider people mentally slow for saying anybody is gonna slow sonic down to begin with

I’m not saying sonic should get married (believe me I don’t want that) but if you say that you unintentionally write the notion that men get locked down by woman
@@Sebo994What's funny about that, Sonic already has people that slow him down. If whatever villian captures Amy, Sonic still will save her and will follow into a trap because she's his his friend. He would do the exact same for Tails, Knuckles and everybody else.
Besides, Sonic and Amy shouldn't be all romantic 24/7. Boom managed to demonstrate they hide their feelings in public but certainly give up all the time on each other off screen
Amy is canonically Sonic's first friend
So technically they've spent more time together than any character in the series, even if he hangs out with tails more
I really needed this video, I've been noticing how Sega have been slightly showing sonic to bee more affectionate with Amy, especially in the idw comics, and i'm glad that even the officials are lowkey supporting my favorite ship

The thing with Sally is that as an american designed character, she appeals to western audiences more than Amy. We consider Amy's obsession with Sonic to be "unhealthy", but for people in Japan, they consider this so-called obsession as proof of commitment. We must not forget that both Sonic and Amy are japanese characters and many japanese values are part of them.

THIS ^^^ and I never cared for Sally. As a person who resides in the west, I’ve ALWAYS never cared for Sally. SatAM didn’t make sense to the canon lore, so I was super confused what was being shoved into my face as a kid. And Archie comics were WEIRD. And perverted. Amy and Tails were my favorite characters, so I didn’t like how the comics made them act differently from their canon characters.

It’s weird because I used to not like Sally nor Amy. I thought Sally was ridiculously bossy and somewhat toxic. Overtime I really grew to love Amy and her character development. Amy began to slowly become more than just a pink hedgehog who has a insanely strong crush on Sonic. She was finally starting to be written with personality and her own spunk. I think that’s what made Sonic start to like her as well. I haven’t seen any female character as loyal as her since Helga Pataki from Hey Arnold.

Like in sonic heroes sure she had some crazy moments with sonic but look at how great of a leader she was with her friends. Plus the real reason she confronted sonic was because they were looking for Froggy and chocola and they saw image in the newspaper of what looks like sonic nabbing them. Of course Amy still goes after sonic at the end but that’s what little girls do. She wants Sonics attention.

@@BryonYoungblood Right. I really feel Amy is just acting silly. I never took what she said seriously as for the fighting well it’s a gameplay mechanic. If your going to ask why are they fighting Literally everyone is fighting in this game and really I don’t see it as serious or the tone would serious. Everything about Sonic and Amy in this game to me is just them fooling around. It’s not serious people just make it serious cause they have serious view of Amy’s character.

Although I like Sonally, I love Sonamy a lot, lot more. This video pretty much summed up my reasoning for this. Although it’s never been officially canon(and probably never will), I’ll never stop loving this ship. You my friend, earned my respect. ✊

I never liked Sonally because with Sally being royalty it really slows down Sonic's adventurous personality. And I never thought she matched characters design wise in the Sonic series. Even in the IDW comics recently Amy has made it clear to Sonic that she doesn't want the adventurous side of him to stop just for her. Making it clear that is what she likes about him. It seems way more freeing and true to his overall character as to why he would want to be with Amy. Aside from the obvious that they were literally made for one another. Design wise and purpose wise. I think they work with each others strengths. Amy has gotten a bad rep for along time because they didn't give her the fullest potential she could've had. I like where they're taking her character nowadays as it just proves what a great asset she is in Sonics perspective group of allies.

Just to be clear, everyone have their ships and I respect that. I also can see why people can ship Sonally ( I was a sonally fan too with SatAM ).
But I really prefer Sonamy and I will explain why.
So first, just for you to be clear, it all happened way before the Sonally ship. In 1992, a manga of sonic appear and in this manga Nicky also know as Sonic's alter-ego was dating a hedgehog who's named Eimi( pretty similar right ?). You can see that her design really look like amy from Sonic CD. So we can guess that Sega found his inspiration in this.
Also, they wanted to do a "Minnie Mouse" to sonic.
That why this ship is here since the beginning.
After this, Amy is one of Sonic bestfriend because they know each other for a pretty long time. So why not ?
I like Sonally but, not gonna lie, this ship is pretty simple and obvious. I personaly like the way how Sonamy is complicated. And as a shipper since birth it generally an End game ship.
Amy is not a princess, she's also known as a normal girl who likes adventure.
She know that Sonic care for his freedom and let him go because this is how Amy love him.
Some fan will say : "She's a violent stalker with a geant hammer"
Well... it a point of view.
Amy loves to shared many adventure with Sonic. Sometime I can admit, she can be pretty obsessed but if we analyse this correctly, you can see that differently.
In sonic adventure 2 ( I think it this one), Amy go to deliver Sonic from his prison. In her line : "Have no fear, Amy Rose is here". Well it really cringy but also cliché in a way like in this situation it's Amy who deliver Sonic so why not say one cliché hero line.
In this lines ( still in adventure 2) :
" If I tell you, will you marry me ?"
"No way."
" I though I had you this time."
We can say that it not the only time Amy joke like that. Obviously she knows Sonic response bro, so we can consider that as a joke.
I also think Sonic like her company. If he doesn't he will run her from her a looong time ago. Like Amy is supposed to be low faster than Knuckles, how can she just chased Sonic everywhere and can sometime grab him. Sonic can run more faster than that.
Also he cares for her ! It has been proved on Sonic Adventure 2, Sonic Lost world, Sonic Unleashed and Sonic 2006 ( Even tho is more for the fanservice ).
Sally never appeared in the game, so she have a low luck to be Sonic canon girlfriend except in Archie Comics and SatAM. Like I will be like "what the fuck" putting Sally in game so suddenly then put her in a romance with Sonic ? No offense to the fan, but after all of this, that will be pretty screwed.
I really like Archie Comics, but they kinda ruined the character of Amy in some point. And Sonic freedom is not really here in the first place, but that define Sonic in all the way possible.
For me Sonic is not ready to have a relationship now. Because of his freedom and adventure. But he does like Amy for me.
Also in the IDW Comics and Boom, Amy character has kinda changed. And I still prefer modern Amy. But in IDW Comics I really love the fact that Sonic and Amy kinda understand each other and we can obviously think that they passed time together, just to talk and shared many thing, but also for training like the "Croquette Bumber" plan.
That why I love and prefer Sonamy.
1) The manga isn't even Canon to be clear and is set in a different universe, plus that version of Amy (emo) was technically a different character from the one we have now
2) the Minnie and mickey idea was scrapped as Sega figured it didn't fit so it's character

I also feel like sonamy fans don't give Sally enough credit, yes her character was written poorly but that was more ken penders and other writers fault as they wanted to get rid of her, by demonizing her character making her unlikable
There’s also scenes where Any chases Sonic but instead of Sonic going full blast he goes at a speed where she can catch up
I respect his likes of Sonamy because I like him sonally because Amy is 12 and Sonic is 18 sally 16 and it would be illegal for Sonic to be with Amy because she is younger but I respect 😄

@@montystudios2991 Amy is and will continue to be Sonic's love interest. This is even the closest ship that can be canon, things that other ships can't. This is not why I am saying that they will automatically be something that we witness on the screen. Nope.
Many of us know that manga is not canon... (I am surprised that when they mention a medium, there is no lack of someone who says that it is not canon). Yes, it is not, but SEGA had planned how they wanted more or less the relationship Sonic and Amy, something that did not change much in the manga version of Amy is that she always had faith, concern and courage in her boyfriend.
The idea of Amy being Sonic's Minnie wasn't entirely ruled out... just transformed.. and they thought that making the dynamic more comical would be something nice and funny, which did not work since western humor (in the case of Japan) does not fit ours.
In the case of Sonic Boom, although it was also for pure comedy and little tastes, many could see the change and that Sonic and Amy can function in something healthy, be it in a romantic or friendly relationship and we saw that a lot with the characterization of Amy, Modern Amy changed a lot, thanks to her counterpart Boom and the shy part that she shows towards Sonic now it is seen in the other spin off media and canon.
In video games, although there were moments in which Sonic showed overwhelming feelings for how explosive the Dark Era Amy became compared to the Adventure Era, there was something particular and it is that if there are moments in which he cared about her, whether he sees her as something else or just friendship. In Sonic Unleashed there was more content about the SonAmy, take it or leave it, everyone makes their decision but there were several hints, even in BK some more clues are taken up but it is something that they did not explore beyond comprehension. In Lost World it is different since Sonic was going to lose two of his friends but his concern for Amy was there. Even in the end he approached her first, the dynamic changed.
There is something that I want to emphasize and that is that I am a fan of Sally and Amy, both characters are incredible, the potential is more evident when their love affair with Sonic is not something so characteristic for both of them. Honestly both the Archie version of Sally and Amy sucked. I always preferred Sonic and Sally's relationship in their SATAM version as much as Sonic and Amy's current relationship. I must admit that there were many writers who threw out silly or even suspicious ideas. Sally was made out as a controlling and conceited person. Amy was twice as bad, because she was like the brat, ignorant and dumb in love (the simp). I'm glad that Ken Penders no longer has anything to do with Sonic and hasn't added fuel to the fire towards the characters that are canon, FF or Sally to have them in their right, because let's be honest, Ken Penders is weird and that would be a huge mistake. Although the vast majority of the blame was on Ken, I keep repeating there were other writers who did this misunderstood elevator format between Sonic and Sally, hence because some did not like their relationship. But for taste there are colors. I'm a fan of the SonAmy and I think they can work in the Ratchet and Tawlyn style, but I also like the Sonally in SATAM for its evolution and writing. It is only a matter of time and tastes of each person. The person expressed her/his opinion, you felt that Sally was discredited by Ken Penders and I answered the reasons, differences and evolution of SonAmy. Of course, without being toxic, I came in peace.
I still think Sally should come back just adapting to Sonic's current time, only the only thing that would change is her non-romantic dynamic with Sonic.
But yes, it's a shame that Ken Penders do such barbarities, especially on his Twitter account.
I agree with thus one hundred percent. Amy meshes a lot more with Sonic's personality than Sally does.
Plus Amy loves all the aspects of Sonic and wouldn't want him to change for her.

I actually ship sonamy in sonic x because I believe sonic loves her back in that show. I know people criticize Amy for the planet of misfortune episode of sonic x but really I think it’s forgivable and here’s why. At this point in the show sonic clearly had been giving her mixed signals like visiting her first to give her a rose. He had agreed to date her (even though he never showed up). He’s always protective of her. You can tell he’s attracted to her when she put on that dress. Even some of the looks he gives her in season 3. I think Amy’s mentality in that episode was sonic was being shy and that’s part of what made her feel justified doing what she did. It was still wrong don’t get me wrong but I think Amy in sonic x is insecure and considering sonic acts way differently to her in this show compared to the games I think she is far more nuanced. Not referencing Archie btw because I haven’t read them.
I don’t like Sally, I don’t like SonAlly. I’ve always been 100% for SONAMY. But I’m at the age where I’m tired of the ship wars. I’ve had to come to realize something. Let people ship who they want, it doesn’t really matter. I don’t have to argue with people when I know that certain characters aren’t canon, and that SONAMY has been established so many times in canon lore. I like how other SonAmy fans are realizing this too. And it’s better to realize that it doesn’t matter about what these other fans ship, because the creators of these characters lowkey ship Sonic and Amy’s relationship 😂. I’ve been gone away from Sonic fandom for 5-6 years. I recently came back, and I find that more people support SONAMY, AND that Sonic Team and SEGA Japan are pushing it harder but slowly. That’s an amazing feeling. This is why I don’t feel the need to argue with SonSal or other shippers. It’s just a waste of time, yknow? 🤷🏽♀️

Real people can have even 20 year gap, still be dating or being married and most people don't point fingers at them, yet having two fictional anthropomorphic hedgehogs who can have different rules and standarts have 3 year gap is horrendous and inappropriate. I think Sonally fanatics used it much more often than Shadamy right along with accusing Amy of being stalker fangirl.

I can personally agree with you. I am a supporter of SonAmy and I like Sally Acorn as a character. My opinion on SonAlly changed from hating this shipping to being okay with it.
But I can definitely say that SonAmy is my #1 favorite Sonic shipping.

Kinda late, but I'm glad you pointed that out also. People against SonAmy keep saying that Amy would take away Sonic's freedom, but the truth couldn't be further from the opposite like both Unleashed and your comment pointed out. (I mean Amy would let Sonic keep her freedom, and she actually wants to enjoy that freedom too.)

honestly I sorta had a similar thought on how Amy as a character not only "grew up" but also while growing up she had character develoment along with it. So far I haven't seen any other characters that does the same appraoch so to me it a unique way of developing a character. Just now when I think about it even in sonic boom she is hell of alot mature, and doesnt get short temper like she did in the sonic advanture/sonic X series (Just to give you the timeline idea) and now in sonic boom when Amy get mad it for a right reason and not because she short temper. Heck it why I prefer Sonamy more because there actual growth and in reality perspective we do the same as we grow up from child, teen, and then adults, it rather fun and better to me atleast.

This shipping war is pretty pointless, seeing as Sally never returned and that Sonic's not allowed to be in a relationship anyway. If Sega ever changes that rule or something, he'll most likely end up with Amy. But having arguments over shipping Sonic is pointless at the moment because he's not getting into a relationship anytime soon. I still do have a favourite ship which is Sonamy, but I've learnt not to argue over it with others.

@PastelFox88 I want to see them warm up to each other, little by little. Because I know Sega created her for a reason even though she’s designed to be his self proclaimed girlfriend and chase him around. But characters do need to grow, known as character development.

My reason for shipping sonamy over sonally is pretty simple: Sally isn't canon, nor will she ever be. She basically appears in glorified fan fiction that's pretty much ignored by Sega. Also: Amy was literally created by Sega to be Sonic's love interest. Sonally makes about as much sense as shipping sonic with an OC.

I liked Sonally at first but then Sonamy came to me. Don’t get me wrong! Sonally is cute and I can see how much their relationship grew in the tv show Sonic Satam and the Archie comics, but I can see Sonic getting with Amy more because of the fact that over time, they grew closer and I saw how Sonic was showing hints that he does like her that way! Especially in Sonic Boom! I can see Sonamy happening in that show. Plus, Sega pretty much confirmed Sonamy! So, in my opinion, Sonamy is Canon.
I prefer mature Modern Sonamy over Boom Sonamy, I think to me, the Boom designs are stupid and I find the regular modern designs that have been around since Sonic Adventure 1 are way better. But I agree with you, despite I'm not a Boom Sonamy fan.

Honestly I think they are getting her character back on track. I really like her in idw comics and tbh I have a big soft spot for her in sonic x. Yeah she had some crazy moments but she really had some sweet wholesome moments as well and plus the Japanese version of the show is much better. 4kids really botched up the translation. Also I love Lisa Ortiz voice of Amy.

I just don’t like Sally honestly. I can’t explain my dislike to her, but I can relate to Amy more, because I know what it’s like to chase someone only for them to pull away. It’s a horrible thing to go through, but I also love her character development and seeing how she grew up to not depend on Sonic anymore, but still sticks around because it’s clear she genuinely just wants to be around him just for who he is.

Yeah.... I agree. Sonally is okay with ONLY in Satam, mind you. The Archie Comics looking back were an OOC cringe fest, for everyone aside from the Mary Sues/Gary Stus that stole the spotlight. Also Sonally in the comics.... God, they were so TOXIC for one another in the Comics. I don't mind Sally as a character matter of Fact, I have my own Game verison of her where's she's basically Jackie from STVFOE in one part of her personality and part of Erza Scarlet from Fairy Tail to give her some flaws. But given how I've studied Sally's character and how Sonic is in the games.
Those two would never mesh. It's the not funny haha they're butting heads again if they're friends.... Sally wouldn't be a good romantic match for Sonic. Also I wanna make a correction, You're correct Sonic can't swim, but him being afraid of Water is a misconception due to dumb decisions to try to make him as such by the American Writers. (As was Amy's Flanderization when in Japan she was still her sweet Gung-ho self full of love and Compassion.) One thing I always hated in the Archie comics was them, basically slapping Amy's dynamics with Sonic onto Sally instead of letting Sally keep her chill personality from SATAM and basically made her bossy and controlling(Not even going into the can of worms with her toxic behavior towards him and vice versa.) And then.... there's the Real Amy Rose knock off, Mina Mongoose. Just Slap Amy's legit personality her....
Another thing that bothered me is Archie Fans tendency to try to bleed Game Canon into the Archie Universe.... Which.... They can't work. Sonic can't be Sally's "childhood friend" who grew up in Knothole at the same time being more or less Young teen with mommy and Daddy issues that took on Robotnik when he invaded his home of South Island. Same as Amy and Tails are Sonic's oldest friends in Canon..... It just doesn't work.... And personally if you ask me, I feel Sally would work better as Amy's Childhood friend due to the potential for them to bounce of each other so well.

Great video man! I’ve been a fan of the Sonamy ship for a long time and I’m happy that this ship is finally getting the soft winks and nods in the IDW comics.
I liked what they did with Sally in the post genesis wave in Archie, but ultimately I think it’s for the best the FF stay retired. Their canon has always clashed with the game canon and I’d rather the IDW comics keep the game canon feel but with better writing. Plus, it would seem that there’s a lot of FF fans that are hard Sonally fans and can’t seem to accept what was always supposed to be the main canon. It’s cringey enough that we still have Sonally vs Sonamy bashing. The only real long term solution is to just phase out the FFs and keep them as relic.
Never thought on Amy as annoying, nor sonamy as toxic obsession. I also, always loved the ship dynamic. I have never been a fan of sonally or Sally herself, but always respected the ship and the character. Therefore, always would always choose sonamy over Sonally.
Although my opinion on Amy and sonamy still stands, Sally and her relationship with Sonic grew on me recently. I gave her a chance and started to like her more. I still like Amy more then I like Sally, but when we are talking about their relationship with Sonic, I'll go with sonally, if that makes sense

I like Sonally a lot more than Sonamy, it may be due to the long history the two characters had before Sega retconed the comics before outright canceling the Archie run.
However, most people seem to prefer Amy nowadays due to her character change from 06 through the 2010s meta era.
I can't say one or the other is better, because there is great development between both ships.

An interesting video! I didn't think I'd see anything Sonally related ever since Archie died. But then again, I've barely kept up with the shipping scene in a while. As someone who prefers Sonally, I think you made some good points for Sonamy, like the loyalty thing. Even in the comics when Sonic's trial happened, Amy was one of the only one's who was undeniably on Sonic's side. Sally had to be as non-bias as possible, but she clearly wanted to side with him too.
I was in the same boat as you growing up. I didn't like Amy all that much because she came across as an annoying and rude person who wouldn't leave Sonic alone, particularly after SA2 came out with her portrayals in Sonic X , Sonic Heroes and Sonic Battle, among others. And I get that it was part of a trope that's supposed to be funny, but it never came off as that to me. Add on the old shipping wars between Sonally and Sonamy, and my dislike turned into hate.
The only reasons I got out of that mindset was because I realized that the two girls were friends in the comics, contrary to how the fans portrayed their relationship in fanart. And seeing her have more to her character other than loving Sonic in the Archie Comics made me warm up to her. Her standing up to the crowd in Archie #222 and wanting Sonic to be happy with Sally, while not completely giving up on him, made me respect her more, especially since I couldn't see Game!Amy or SonicX!Amy doing that. Heck, Sally was the one who officially welcomed her into the Freedom Fighters.
I always liked the idea of Amy being inspired by Sonic to become a full-fledged hero in her own right like Tails, and in turn, inspiring others. Maybe she'd find herself in Sonic's position and have a fanclub of her own.
Because I'm bias, I thought Sonally was the more interesting pairing because besides their chemistry, personalities and history, there was the many obstacles they would have, be it Sally's royal status or Sonic's freedom-loving spirit. And while there were possible futures that portrayed their relationship as adults, I never thought any of these were what would likely happen. Like, in the 25/30 Years Later stories, Sonic is the ruler. I can see why some people didn't like that because it seems to clash with Sonic's character, even if he's way older there. Though technically Sally should have been in charge, with Sonic being her consort. So she would have had all the real responsibilities.
"The Slap" was a pretty OOC moment for her as well, even if it was understandable. I feel like if they had to break up, they should have written Sally in a more mature way, like she always has been, and the two would have handled it in private instead of on a stage in front of everyone.
My headcanon of a Sonally ending in the Archie Comics was that Sally would either relinquish her title (since Elias is in charge) or the Kingdom of Acorn would end and be replaced with a democracy. We've known since the pilot of SatAM that her title isn't the most important thing to her, and she values the freedom and beauty of nature. After every villain's defeated for good, the FF go their separate ways and once it was confirmed that their home would be fine without them, I imagine that Sonic would want to leave and see the world for adventure and to help others along the way, like in most cases for his character. And I believe that Sally would travel with him and keep up by using her extreme gear or anything really. And that's how they would have worked. Sometimes they pop in to say hello to their loved one's at home, and then they're gone just as quickly to who knows where.
tl;dr The true chads support the OT3 of Sonic x Sally x Amy.
I also prefer Sonally over Sonamy but that does not mean I dislike Amy; I just have a different character interpretation of her. I actually like her origins as a fangirl. In the Archie comics she was a little girl who grew up in Merica during Robotnik's reign and heard stories of a heroic blue hedgehog named Sonic and began to write tons of fan mail to him and after being rescued by him vowed to fight along side him and the Freedom Fighters. With the help of a magic ring and some training from Julie-Su, in about a year, Sally acknowledged has a fully fledged member of the team. Amy to Sonic is like Deku to All Might. Deku who grew up watching All Might saving people as a little boy and wanted nothing more than to become a hero like his idol who strives to protect the happiness and smiles of those around him. Amy who while has a huge crush goes above and beyond a fangirl sits by the sidelines but a fangirl who worked to become the kind of hero like her role model. Also in Archie there was a moment where she wished to become older but it only made physically older and still had the mind of a child. I actually like this because to me it means the idealistic child that wanted to fight bad guys and refuses to give up did not die. And this brings me to my personal favorite moment in Archie Sonic; after suffering some repeated losses after losing Sally, Antoine and Bunnie, Sonic had fallen into a depressed state believing that the Freedom Fighters are done for. But it was Amy (along with Tails) who snapped him out of it; to quote Amy: "You didn't quit when you got arrested. You didn't quit when Robotnik came back. You didn't quit when we lost old Mobotropolis, or Knothole, or our families, or any other time! So get up! We've got Freedom Fighters to save!". This to me sums up Amy's character; even if the world has gone down hill and even in the face of her hero losing his will to fight, the child like spirit in her heart refuses to cave in to despair and instead re inspire her hero to continue the fight because even if he has given up she hasn't and she has him to thank him for that.

honestly Metal could be the canon ship with Amy, implied by SMA and we kno Amy can reach through robots, Metal could have capture her not bc Robotnik order but maybe bc he was jalous of his loathome copy, and Metal fit the prediction of Amy's tarot card too, and unlike Sonic, Metal accept Amy, so maybe we can get a Omega/Emerl/Gmerl treatment with Metal sometime in the future and Eggman can create an other Metal.
if they do an SA1 remake, i hope they replace Gamma and the E-100 series by a Metal Sonic series to deside who his the better copy for Sonic, and since SA1 take the classic character and give them similar stories as in the classic (Knuckles fooled, Tails is the sidkick, Amy captured) a Metal Sonic (MS for short) could capture her like in CD, and reach one of the MS to "hey, that's not how a Sonic act" and them the rest of the Gamma story but Metal, as for the final boss it would be a simbolic of good Metal fighting bad Metal and so fighting his old self as a Eggman slave which he no longer is. I think that would make a good Character arc for Metal, what do you think ?

I can see why people prefer Sonally over Sonamy, really, I do, people say sonally has more chemistry and relationship in it because it's easier to see, but Sonamy has more relationship building than it puts on show, we see subtle things hinting towards it possibly happening such as
Comparing how Sonic reacts to Amy coming out of nowhere versus other characters, where he shows an emotion comparable to embarrassment or being flustered to some degree, there's also Sonic and The Black Knight's after credits scene, and the scene in Sonic unleashed where Amy doesnt recognize Werehog Sonic and when she apologizes and runs away we see him reach out to her before turning and walking away feeling bummed out, and then later on in another cutscene, after Sonic saves Amy from.... Something idk I forgot, in his Werehog form, he turns his head down before running away with a sense of what I can only feel is some kind of sense of shame? Shame in how he looks I assume, but when he first meets back up with Tails and meets Chip, he doesn't care that they see him as a Werehog. And dont get me started with the IDW- oh wait that isn't canon....

in reality Sonic has a lot of feelings for Amy but at the same time you don't admit it because it's his character that he always has this torment of living alone in danger (ced) in his head but in reality he has always demonstrated his love for Amy and this comes demonstrated on sonic frontier maybe one day this hope of living in the adventure will end there and hope to live happily with Amy who knows maybe one day it will happen. ⚡️
here is my explanation of why I think Sonamy is WAAAAY better than sonally. first off let's start with real-life... you know that a hedgehog cant (date) a chipmunk.. their babies would be an abomination and also even though sonic and may are different ages, some people do that tho. The male is sometimes older than the female. and If you watch Bambi it went from boys to men and that scene with the female deer chasing the male dear. (sonic and amy) and then they ( mhua mhua) that what happened! also TV logic is that in children shows or most shows the female that is pink and the male that s blue is always together. right but I think since gender reveals ar blue and pink or something like that I think it's a sign that they are going to be a future couple. like sonamy. sorry I have a creative way of proving my stuff. in simpler words, a female hedgehog with a male hedgehog is more reasonable than a female chipmunk dating a male hedgehog
Yeah I get what you mean especially how other animals getting together doesn't work in real life. But I wouldn't say interspecies relationship can't work in fiction since it seems handled well in Tmnt and Sly Cooper. Personally I like Amy more as a character than Sally, and that's why I ship her and Sonic together.

I usually say:
1. Sonic and Amy are anthropomorphic animals, so age doesn’t matter.
2. Sally is not and never will be Canon, neither will the other Archie comic characters.
3. SEGA Japan legit hates Sally. I don’t blame them. Sally was literally just the “girl” character and she was too bossy. Sonic is a free character, but Sally prevents him from doing that and calls him selfish. It just doesn’t fit, and it makes most fans uneasy.

✔️They both lost a loved one so they understand how each other feels.
I can agree with those points except the take on the games. But Sonic and Amy both motivate one another in times of doubt, they're also close friends, and arguably Sonic CD takes place years before Sonic 2 which would also make them childhood friends.

Never hated SonAlly but found it pretty boring for the most part since Sally's maturity is suppose to help in making Sonic more mature in some way, but it's what I like more about his free spirit rather than being tied down with royalty. Always feels like there's more amusement and freedom with Sonic and Amy's relationship even in being the best of friends. Amy doesn't look to change him and even when he 'runs away' from her he always seems to do so in a way where she's able to keep up with him. Makes me feel like he just enjoys the chase.

Ugh No Amy is not Sally. I assume your referring to IDW. Amy has always been a take charge and leading type. She’s not a perfect leader and is really more of an adventure loving type (Ill get to that later). She has always been one who acted as a leader when she needed to be whether it be with team rose or with Cosmo and cream in sonic x. She would often try to over step the other characters (like tails when they were on the blue typhoon) whenever they were together. Amy is the type who tries to help people and wants to be involved the best she can. That’s been at the core of her character from the beginning since Adventures. Just because sega has never given her a larger role doesn’t mean she couldn’t or wouldn’t do it.
In IDW she was not “copying sally”. People think only sally is allowed to be a leader apparently. Amy was still being Amy but a bit more focused and restrained and the way they wrote it made sense in the setting they were in. If you want to say someone copied something then fine forces was basically freedom fighters again sure. The character arc they gave Amy was sonic was gone for a long time and eggman took over and those times all she knew to do was to help her friends. In these times they didn’t know sonic was alive and I imagine Amy most likely reflected a lot about her life decisions in this times and probably had regrets. They didn’t show us this unfortunately but considering people can change I think it’s very believable. And about becoming a leader, she wasn’t even the leader, knuckles was. When knuckles did step down I don’t think they were really expecting what was coming either so it’s not like she was absolutely there yet like sally is. While she did a good job you could see she was very stressed out and a lot of things went wrong. She still had to rely heavy on her friends to make it in the end. And the thing is she didn’t even want to stay a leader forever because she missed her freedom. She didn’t like the stress and being glued to all the paperwork and she missed going on adventures so she steps down from that role after the metal virus arc. In the later stories she’s back to going on adventures with her friends just like she used to and they even show us one of her biggest traits being optimism and her belief in fate. In the recent issues her tarrot cards make a comeback and she encourages jewel in the time she really needs it feeling doubtful of herself and Amy had read a fortune that jewel would be a good leader and she told her to leave it to fate. That to me was a good portrayal of how Amy is optimistic and believes in the best of people. Another thing I want to add is Amy still has her crush on sonic and has cute quirky moments of showing it. There’s a scene when sonic comes in and she sees him and if you look closely her tail is wagging. There is several times Amy still loves to give sonic hugs too. There’s a part where sonic, Amy, and tails are moving into what looks like an abyss while sonic is hold her she says something like “how romantic”. What I’m getting at is she still is a bit like she used to be and still is a bit flirty with sonic in a way that I think makes her the same character she’s always been. Overall they wanted to give Amy a bigger role and retcon her after portraying her in a way that made her look really bad and I think this is the best direction they could’ve gone in my opinion. I wish people would just isolate the 2 and stop comparing them to undermine Amy growing as a character. And yes I believe improvements and how they write her going forward can be made. I’m very interested in what they are doing with her in frontiers as well as this new sonic prime show. We will see.

Second, while I do think the IDW comics and Boom made her "Sally like" I don't mind it. The characters have always had an Ash/Red relationship.
It's just funny to me Amy started out with brown fur and hair (1992 manga) then became pink with spikes later
While coincidentally in America, Sally in the early says of SatAM started out pink with Sonic spikes in the back like Classic Amy then became brown with red hair to better reflect her Japanese Ricky design.

Yeah ok I guess I kind of see where your coming from but I still feel like there are fundamental differences between them and I don’t like that some people call IDW Amy sally to try and undermine her. I feel like traits that can be seen as being Sally’s really come with maturity and it’s unfair act like Amy now has now personality of her own. Considering IDW will probably not be referenced in the games and future shows Im thinking perhaps maybe they can find a better mix and way to write her going forward. The biggest thing is I like seeing her and sonic actually getting along and working together unlike the later games where he’s always running away from her. I wanted to see their relationship improve and that’s what I liked most about Amy in IDW. Also I actually love Amy from most throughout the series and didn’t want them to essentially erase her past like boom did so this is another reason I like IDW. Also I never read Archie. My view of Amy is mostly based on the games, sonic x, and IDW now.
