It's worse in the UK, as they simply make a substance testing machine say that the person is testing positive for drugs. In the UK someone watching surveillance cams presses a button to make the drug sensor say "cocaine high", when people of color pass through. It's a Mandy Rice Davies thing, and they do rig the test results. One man who I would say is a person of color filmed one of his shakedowns and said it was his 5th time coming through, where every time the sensor says "cocaine high" for him, and he gets searched.

This happened in Lisbon to my family. Same thing happened to me at the Denver Airport. I was stunned and shaken. Pulled me into a room and started quizzing me, then did a complete search of my luggage, and groped me like a piece of fruit at the market. Found nothing and said "thank you for your cooperation" By the way, I'm white.
I would probably treat this the same way as a traffic stop. Do not consent to the search, but obey the instructions of the officer. If the officer tries to convince you to consent to the search, politely ask if you are being detained or if you are free to go. Afterwards, search of no, you can then contact an attorney if that is your wish. The problem is that hiring an attorney is expensive, which would deter a lot of people from pursuing legal recourse. Eric Andre has money, and I'm glad he's forcing the courts to look at how police conduct random searches at airports. I regret that Eric has to spend his money on this, and I hope he is successful in changing things for the better.

Why the hell would you stop people on the bridge? Isn’t that what TSA is for - screening people for drugs, weapons, etc before they get anywhere near a plane?
I've seen racial profiling happen right in front of me at an airport. I'm American and I was going through US customs after having been in Europe for the summer. I was in the line for American citizens, spouses of Americans and permanent residents, and green card holders. So I went to the shortest line and there were two men in front of me. The first man was wearing what I think was traditional Sikh attire and he looked Indian. Keep in mind the border agent looked to be of Indian descent as well. From the moment the Sikh gentleman walked up to the border agent, he had a hostile attitude and after their interaction, he was pulled aside from the line and his belongings were searched. The next person in front of me was an African gentleman and he spoke with an accent from Africa. He got the same treatment from this border agent and was pulled aside and searched as well. Then I go up. My mom is ethnically English and my Dad is Native American, and I look like a lighter version of my dad. I was expecting the same treatment and to be honest, I was ready to go toe to toe with the border agent. I was returning home and didn't have a flight to catch, so I had all the time in the world. But surprisingly, he treated me much better. I don't know why. I was kind of shocked to be honest. While, I've seen and heard stories like this, it was my first personal experience with racism from a government official.
This isn't racism - IDK how you think what you witnessed is racist. Do you have any idea where these men have traveled during their trip? Do you know if they booked tickets within the last day or 2 (or last minute)? Do you know if they visited any cities/countries which are hot spots for drug production/smuggling? Do you know if any of these people had prior arrests for drug possession, smuggling or any other felonies in any country? Do you know if these men might have just had a newly issued &/or "emergency" passport issued? Do you know if these men didn't have proper ID (possibly expired) and an exemption was made for them to travel? Do you know if either of these men are 2 or 3 degrees of separation away from a terrorist, drug dealer, cartel member, extremeist, etc (this casts a WIDE net & can drag in A LOT of innocent people who can end up searched) I could list about 100 other reasons these men could have been singled out when they checked in/ boarded (or even booked) the flight. You stating this is racism is so sad b/c you are only looking at it from a victimization point of view, one that is all too often exploited by people who are no where near victims (& are actually victimizers).
@@kde5fan737 I don't think you understand; we were going through US customs in a US airport. To make it clearer, we were in line to enter back into the US. We were on the same flight from Europe. Booking tickets doesn't apply here as the border agent didn't ask them or me for it. I was a few feet behind them. I heard everything. This agent was aggressive towards them from the beginning, before they even provided their documents, so there is no way to have known who they were, or anything of that nature. I know what I saw. They were dressed traditionally and spoke with an accent, and that border agent treated them differently because of it. If we were on the same flight and he suspected us of drugs, why didn't I get pulled aside and searched?
The problem is , for the people around watching who doesn’t go through this experience themselves , feel so proud & well integrated to their country they don’t voice the concern ✌️🤢

Do you know if either of these men are 2 or 3 degrees of separation away from a terrorist, drug dealer, cartel member, extremeist, etc (this casts a WIDE net & can drag in A LOT of innocent people who can end up searched)
I could list about 100 other reasons these men could have been singled out when they checked in/ boarded (or even booked) the flight.

Adds. Ads is for advertisements
Brave? The guy has made a living pranking people and is sensitive himself. I love his comedy but he’s a millionaire I do not feel sorry for.
Brave? He's loaded.. He can get this to court. Not so much for everyone else..
@@whitebroccoli694 because he wasn't being pranked dumb ass
Thank you for using your platform Eric!!
Thank you Eric Andre for doing it for us! ✊🏾
💖
Im white and this has happened to me a bunch of times
If you seem out of place, then the profiling is legal. I grew up being the only white person for a mile and a half, got stopped all the time. Just learn to deal with it and move on.
lol sure it's not because you're Eric Andre. If Wiz Khalifa was walking through the airport and the cops stopped him to search him for weed, is that because the color of his skin?
Sad to see what ranch does to people
It’s weird seeing Andre being serious 😂😂
Clearly, this dude wants to be a victim.
Damn. Never seen André so serious. Hope everything works out.
They can’t claim it’s random if they also told him they had reason to believe that he had drugs.
👆this! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I'm a brown man (I have the same complexion as Eric Andre) living in Australia and this happens to me regularly. Especially when I go to the bottle shop to pick up some wine for my parents or champagne for a birthday party. I am so used to it now because Australia is really racist that it doesn't even bother me anymore. It's really sad.
Racist relative to what? Why not leave?
You should leave when you get a chance
These people telling you to leave, I guess they don't want anyone to point out the countries racism. Their solution to something that's wrong I. The country is for you to leave. Wonder if they feel the same when it's something THEY don't like.
Eric is not brown he is light skinned. Very light skinned
@@lexboogie2 he’s light skinned to black people, white people see him as a black man with a fro.
I was waiting for Fart Explosion.
You know just because he's funny on his show doesn't mean he's always like that, he's actually a genius
Yeah, that's the first think I think of when Eric Andre is pursuing an anti-discrimination lawsuit: "genius" XD I'll forever be waiting for him to admit this is all one big prank, the scale of which we've never seen before. It's truly unbelievable.
This happened to me when I had longer hair. I cut my hair and it hasn’t happened since. I’m the same shade as Eric. It’s fucked up but people just profile what you look like.
Bird Up 🦜
Yeah but it’s a useful tool for sure
I think it reflects a certain culture/vibe. That may not be his intention, some may think it's cute, but in a certain context some may take it a certain way/to convey that culture
Must be nice. No matter how I wear my hair, I’m still fucking Black. Flying international gives me such bad anxiety that I don’t sleep for 48 hours before. I HATE profiling. It makes me late, stressed, afraid, and then I gotta hear about a dude who got “profiled” for long hair. I know you were just sharing your experience and meant nothing by it. But we can’t change that the way we’re born is hated and apparently illegal worldwide…I guess it’s just privilege-envy on my part… don’t mind me and my trauma…😐
@@fbo717 yikes fantasizing about abusing people over drugs is definitely wrong, Zimmerman
did he kiss the officers after they stopped him?
Devil's advocate here: What percentage of people going through ATL are black? 56%? If so, this justifies the percentage of stops. I'm curious. Statistics can be deceiving.
I’m so proud of Eric Andre for what he said, it’s not just about him but the other hundreds of thousands of black and brown people. Wish more people would see that.
I have been stopped like that in miami twice by the same guy.
I live near and fly through ATL often. Thank you for bringing attention to the discrimination. Clayton County and Riverdale has had problem police departments for decades.
I always thought airports are considered under federal jurisdiction. I'm confused why local PD would be trying to enforce laws there in the first place.
Atlanta Airport has long resisted Federal and State control because the airport is the one thing the City of Atlanta makes excess revenue over.
Yeah that's why Atlanta child murders were never looked at closely. They didn't give AF about black kids
I think a better stat would be not how many have been stopped by race, but how many were false suspicions by race.
Good point sweet tits
Lol what a stupid thing to ask from security, are you buying or selling drugs here 😂 what is he gonna say “oh no now that u asked damn you got me”
I cannot take this man serious, this still seems like an SNL skit
Hold on. He says half the stops are of African Americans... has he not gone through the ATL airport?? Like 2/3 of the people flying out are African American whenever I've been through there.
You know the encounter was really bad to see Eric this serious 😮
This is the most boring skit he's ever done.
