Does the back of this unit get hot at all, or can I put it right against insulation?
It's metal backing and heater is in front so no issue with putting it against insulation.
just like with gas heaters are not safe to use in closed rooms, is an electric heater the same?
well gas heaters are safe, but the reason u want to have door open is incase there was a problem with the gas line and it kept releasing gas after u turned it off, then it would haev a way to escape. Electric heater is different, there is no gas
Where do you add the crystals in?
u remove the front panel glass , then put the crystals over hte led strip, then put glass back on.

There are 2 little screws on sides that u unscrewed and then lift glass upwards

Of course
is it safe to have this right below a tv? might break the tv
tv will not break as heat will not touch it, and if ur worried about tv falling then get a better tv mount

@InvestorTheory because that tells me everything that I need to know. You don't use tools properly nor do you have the correct tools for the job. What other shortcuts are you taking and using substitutions for tools that you should have on other areas of your install? Definitely not a troll, just someone that does things correctly and has all the proper tools for every application 😉😊
