Bobby was found dead in his hotel room some years later. We all miss him very much. This is the greatest love song ever written. It was the theme song for the movie "GHOST."
The Righteous Brothers had not broken up. If he had played the WHOLE video then there was an interview with both of them at the beginning. They performed together for 43 years before Bobby Hatfield died. They are inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame together as the Righteous Brothers.
To date, more than 700 artists have covered this song.. but if Bobby ain't singing.. it ain't! Bobby had a 6 octave range up to counter-tenor. God given talent.

But I try to remain current on music as well because there's always some new gems being released.
That is Bobby Hatfield. He is a blue eyed killer of the voice. While both singers in the righteous brothers were great, he..... He was untouchable. That was a live performance, in the sixties, before they had auto tune, before they had live equalizers and live mixing. His voice might just be one of the greatest to ever have been recorded. Male or female. His range, vocal control, poise, and richness of tone are simply unmatched. He is one of the goats of pure vocals. Period. A melody like that is great. Bobby made it utterly timeless. We are blessed to still have his records/recordings or listen on u tube. Bobby did do the same song for movie ghost in the 90 s. Believe the movie came out around that time line.
I always love watching new listeners. Right from the start they are digging it's smooth melody and I always think, yeah...wait for it, lol. As others have said your next stop should be You've Lost That Loving Feeling. Bill Medley takes the lead on that one. You won't be disappointed.

Bobby could have been a pro baseball player but chose his singing instead. I don't think you will ever find another artist like him. He was a beautiful man with an amazing voice and a huge heart. I don't know why he was always called "the other brother", between him and Bill, I always felt like Bobbys voice is what made the Righteous Brothers. I used to know Bill Medley back in the day. He told me once that Bobby had been sick when this performance was recorded. You can tell his voice cracks a little and that he's swallowing over a sore throat, if you watch closely. One of the best live performances ever recorded!

This was sung live on a tv variety show by one member of the Righteous Brothers, Bobby Hatfield. Both members of the duo were there, but they had decided that only one of them would sing Unchained Melody, and ultimately Bobby was the one that ended up to be the one to sing it.
I really enjoyed your reaction to the classic. Unchained Melody is from the 1955 movie Unchained. It had 4 version on the charts in 1955, including one by the title singer, Al Hibbler, for the movie and one instrumental by Liberace. It is also one of the most covered song in history, only beat by some Beatles and Christmas songs with over 600 official versions. This version is considered the best, and most versions after 1965 are based on the song stylings co-produced my Bill and Bobby, with Bobby added onto the end of the song what had not been there before. His two octave range makes reproducing it very difficult with these stylings. Each album the Bill and Bobby do one solo song and Bobby won the coin flip to do this song for the album. While only his voice is featured, Bill is playing the piano on the studio version. He was also at this taping and the do another song together. This song sound familiar because it was featured in the 1990 movie Ghost with Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg. That version was also by the Righteous Brothers. However, they had to rerecord it 25 years later for the movie due to copyright issues.

Bobby Hatfield did this solo. This was his signature song. His singing partner, Bill Medley, is in this video but not on the song. If you ever saw the movie “Ghost” you heard the song. The song title came from a movie back in the 50’s about a guy in jail. The ‘chain’ part of the title, I believe, was referencing the chains he was in because of his crime. He was thinking about the family he left. But when it got into Bobby’s hands it pretty much became the definitive love song for the 60’s and even to this day! It’s a song that has stood the test of time.

cpop3078 yes Bobby was 25 y/o at the time of these live performance. Unfortunately bobby did pass in 2003. Bobby did have a heart condition, unfortunately he did not take care of oneself. We are blessed to still have his records/recordings or listen on u tube. Bobby did do the same song for movie ghost in the 90 s. Believe the movie came out around that time line.

The theme song "Unchained Melody" was written by Alex North, music (15 Academy Award nominations for best song, including Unchained Melody) and Hy Zaret, lyrics, and performed by Todd Duncan.

This was done when he had a slight cold and he was nervous because his mom was in the audience. She had never seen him live on stage before. You may have heard this from the movie Ghost.

Bobby could have been a pro baseball player but chose his singing instead. I don't think you will ever find another artist like him. He was a beautiful man with an amazing voice and a huge heart. I don't know why he was always called "the other brother", between him and Bill, I always felt like Bobbys voice is what made the Righteous Brothers. He was definitely unique and will always have my heart. Thank you for watching this one!

I used to know Bill Medley back in the day. He told me once that Bobby had been sick when this performance was recorded. You can tell his voice cracks a little and that he's swallowing over a sore throat, if you watch closely. One of the best live performances ever recorded!

This was sung live on a tv variety show by one member of the Righteous Brothers, Bobby Hatfield. Both members of the duo were there, but they had decided that only one of them would sing Unchained Melody, and ultimately Bobby was the one that ended up to be the one to sing it.
Some of their songs were on the sound track for the movie Dirty Dancing.
I really enjoyed your reaction to the classic. Unchained Melody is from the 1955 movie Unchained. It had 4 version on the charts in 1955, including one by the title singer, Al Hibbler, for the movie and one instrumental by Liberace. It is also one of the most covered song in history, only beat by some Beatles and Christmas songs with over 600 official versions. This version is considered the best, and most versions after 1965 are based on the song stylings co-produced my Bill and Bobby, with Bobby added onto the end of the song what had not been there before. His two octave range makes reproducing it very difficult with these stylings.
Each album the Bill and Bobby do one solo song and Bobby won the coin flip to do this song for the album. While only his voice is featured, Bill is playing the piano on the studio version. He was also at this taping and the do another song together.
This song sound familiar because it was featured in the 1990 movie Ghost with Demi Moore, Patrick Swayze and Whoopi Goldberg. That version was also by the Righteous Brothers. However, they had to rerecord it 25 years later for the movie due to copyright issues.

Bobby Hatfield did this solo. This was his signature song. His singing partner, Bill Medley, is in this video but not on the song. If you ever saw the movie “Ghost” you heard the song. The song title came from a movie back in the 50’s about a guy in jail. The ‘chain’ part of the title, I believe, was referencing the chains he was in because of his crime. He was thinking about the family he left. But when it got into Bobby’s hands it pretty much became the definitive love song for the 60’s and even to this day! It’s a song that has stood the test of time.
