In defense of Caddicarus, I don't think he's intentionally trying to dominate the discussion or disrespect the rest of the panel. He just seems like an energetic guy who's passionate about expressing his opinions whereas the rest of the panel, especially Jirard, are simply less confrontational and more passive in a debate environment, allowing themselves to be talked over more frequently. On several occasions throughout these 2 episodes, he's either apologized for interrupting, stopped himself when someone else has taken a firm foothold in the discussion, or been subdued by Furst's command over the panel. I understand why people may be put off by his personality, but I find it adds some much needed heat to these debates, especially ones like this where it could have easily become a very boring MGS circle-jerk without his input. Compared to Alex, he's not nearly as bombastic, and I appreciate his ability to play the fence.
Thank you. I feel he honestly is a bit too excited by all of this and I'll explain why.
He's the only member of the whole HB and NB clan as such living abroad so seeing Shane and Jirad after so long he is like... Happy to see them. He also is doing something, like you said, that's apart of madness, explaining what he means.
And yes. I'd admit it. He is basically got verbal diarrhoea. But he is a lot better in this than the first one
Well said.
He's way better than Alex. Also it helps that obviously everyone feels in their field here, as opposed to the cartoon madness where everyone was like basically hearing Alex explain stuff.
He's way better than Alex. Also it helps that obviously everyone feels in their field here, as opposed to the cartoon madness where everyone was like basically hearing Alex explain stuff.
Personally I thought he was a great addition but everyone has different opinions
Forrest is doing a great job as mediator. When people come forward with blunt, unexplained comments like "silent hill is boring" or "goldeneye sucks" which discourage reasonable discussion, he's the first to jump in and be like "ok, explain what you mean by that." He does a lot to keep the brainless mudslinging to a minimum, props for that.
He's definitely improving
And what a voice, i love that intro voice. Yeah, the boring comment wasnt an unexplained one, was an introduction to an arguement, but the point where Forrest cut Caddy and ask Jirard, that was a good mediation
@@DiabloCloud Jirard definitely had an argument lined up, but leading with an inflammatory statement using words like boring or stupid puts people on the defensive and risks having the people who disagree dig into their position because they feel attacked. There is a better way to lead the argument Jirard made is all I'm saying. Forrest was good to jump in and try and cut off the defensive back and forth that was about to happen (which still almost happened anyway with Caddy coming back with "you're wrong" in reponse). You could tell by the tension in the rest of the episode that Jirard's opening comment set a rough atmosphere for reasonable debate, and it's only because all the guys in the room (including Jirard himself) are reasonable dudes that the whole thing didn't devolve into a less reasonable discussion.
This one got heated.
jirard is only good with a script on his hand
This is a good contrast to the next one which (BETTER) be pretty one sided.
I won't lie I was pretty bitter. I love silent hill but I know mgs deserved to win. It's hard to listen when the other side just bashes ur fave game for like 20 mins.
Hm.. hard one? I personally would pick Silent Hill what is even up today one of best Horror games ever made, and one of my favorites. But MGS is also a great and probably would win.
@@lucasbiermann257 Do not agree at all. in fact, i felt like he was exactly what i want an expect in a debate. If you're talking about being funny or something, well...i don't think this proves he can't be without script, i believe he was trying to get a point (it is a debate, after all) and it is an uphill battle with Caddys personality right there all the time xD and barry expressed himself a lot also in this one.
To be clear, i won't watch this things without Jirard contribution, or i won't enjoy them as much
But does it capture the ESSENCE of the n64 station
Yes, it does
this joke is getting WAY to old. atleast once every single video. its not funny anymore
PlayPod Idk what you mean it’s still hilarious to me
@@PlayPodOG Maybe, but doesn't it capture the essence of Madness64?
PlayPod Is the N64 replacing Madness?
As someone who complained on the first episode of this season - This one was far easier to digest. The overall group dynamic has absolutely improved and they really took the time to analyze these two games. Seeing as he was the main name I mentioned last time, I absolutely have to compliment Caddy for his patience and focus. Having watched his videos, I know he's super fast paced and I must apologize. At no point do I feel he's made any bad points, It took this video to make me realize he naturally moves quicker than the group, which led to this disjointed feeling. You can definitely see him evening out with the group and I can't commend him enough for that. Great episode guys!
I think the best point you make is that Caddy is like that and watching his videos (or just one) is kinda important if you are confused why he's the way he is
Yes, a win. I really appreciate Caddicarus talked so excitedly about the one he wasn't voting for just to make sure it got its props. These episodes have been a great reminder about just how good the playstation 1's game selection was.
Some people are going after Caddy, but honestly, I’d much rather have someone like him rather than Alex (no offense Alex). He does need to calm down a bit, but he is clearly passionate while still observing the validity of other people’s concerns. One thing that Alex did that always bothered me was that he picked a side and fought for it to the end. What makes Madness enjoyable, to me at least, is knowing that the arguments can shift a person’s perspective, and Caddy is much more open to change than Alex was. Hopefully Lee reeled him in a bit to get his excitement down a little, but he is still super knowledgeable and entertaining.
^^^^ I think as the episodes progress he'll calm down a bit it's just a mix if excited, nerves and jetlag
Agreed, Caddy makes better impression than Alex in way that he actually considers other people opinion and tries to be objective even if he likes another game more.
This series has really shown me how much I love Jirard as a gamer. I love the Completionist as a show a whole bunch, but just hearing him give raw, unscripted thoughts and reactions is all you need to see to understand how knowledgeable and passionate he is about these games. (Also, I just agree with him a lot of the time)
Yes, although i don't always agree with him, he is kind of the most qualified to talk about some of these games. Since he has complited a lot and some even more than one time... And then you have barry who played one hour
Sure, I actually differ with him a ton too and I'm definitely not calling him some golden god, but he's the person I'm appreciating most this season and I just love when he's real and think he's great at determining a game's impact.
Even showing his Bias, he brings a LOT to every conversation. I wish they have a season with Jirard and Alex, they complement each other very well.
Nothing against Alex at all, but I feel as though his opinions are so well worded they end up swaying everyone and that’s both good and bad where Jirard does just as you said.
You're right, but Jirard stops him just enough. Super Beard Bros is great because of that, and when they have guests they always have a voice thanks to the synergy between Alex and Jirard. The problem would be, everytime Alex and Jirard agree, that vote would win.
If Metal Gear had the best PS1 Plot Twist, Caddicarus had the best Madness Plot Twist
I don't care what all yall say, Caddie has really good critical integrity and if he talks the most, then I'm mostly listening to great analysis. I felt the same about Alex and Jared.
He also speaks really fast with good articulation, didn't really think about that until now. Faster than both Alex and Jared.
Lost me with Alex but Caddy is great.
Jared establishing the “essence of the N64” thing thats become a meme was a genuinely good, albeit informal way to route discussion away from game design so they had to think about what made the N64 fun as a console on its cultural impact which changed with each game.
Just like how in the first episode this season they established that they’re voting for “the best game that happens to be in PS1” so that keeps things formally organized and facilitated stuff like this awesome episode.
Well, he does, no doubt but...so does Jirard, doesnt he? I feel like noone says Caddy is just mumbling or is not a good insight, most people just say that...well....they want to hear the others as well. And the others want to be heard (Except Shane, who is just satisfied and i feel so conected)
@@DiabloCloud you make a good point but the structute of Madness as a relatively loosely moderated and casual discussion kinda means that those present are just going to talk as much as they normally would. In every group discussion there will just be people who talk more or less. For better or worse that's just how the chips will fall.
Also, isn't Shane just so damn efficiant when he speaks up? He says relatively little but when he does speak it almost always contributes greatly to the discussion and brings up an excellent point. It's like how a scalpel is so small but still cuts a person open as well as a sword.
Despite Silent Hill being my favourite game of all time, I totally expected MGS to get the vote. That's fine. I love MGS as well.
Honest critique of this show here: I think the editing is kinda lackluster, especially when it comes to inserting the scenes from the video games (not the inlaid ones that pop up while they are talking, the ones that actually interrupt the discussion). Most of the time the game footage comes off as disconnected, random, and doesn’t add anything interesting or funny.
Example of what I mean: in this episode while they were deep into a discussion about Silent Hill it cuts to a clip from Metal Gear Solid. It made no sense - it had no context within the discussion that it interrupted. I think this show could go from good to great if the editor spent more time digging up relevant clips and placing them in at the correct moments.
Justin S Exactly, video clips should strengthen the discussion, rather then interrupt it 👌🏻
Almost like a dia from Powerpoint xD
I disagree with the bearded guy.
LJrock yooo 💀😂
Welcome to 5 Beardos rant on stuff on screens
Yeah but I do agree with the bearded guy myself.
The other bearded guy...not so much.

You may need some colon cleansers to help with that. Try chili beans.
Little Caesar's does it for me. >_>
@@Vagna777 I'm talking about the good poos from good colon cleansers. Not the bad ones. Otherwise I would have said taco bell.
Yes, yes Caddy can talk a bit and interrupt, but at least he has actual points instead of just saying buzz words like “influential” “iconic” etc the way that Alex did
Yeah Alex sucked. Couldn’t even finish last season because he genuinely could not have a discussion. He said his opinions and views like they were truisms
Alex is the freakin man. IMO he carries Super Beard Bros
thisistheguy yeah every time he said, “I don’t know exactly what I’m trying to say here but it’s like, it’s so good. You know? It like, it has such a great personality”
Didn't play SH for the first time until a couple of months ago, but I think it succeeds at being a game more than MGS does. MGS is brilliant, but it really is cinematic to the point of fracturing the medium that it exists in at times due to how often you're passively experiencing it. All of the horror and world building in SH is experienced in game, and it brings a cerebral horror to gaming that Resi never dabbled in.
It bothers me that we are 3 seasons in and the bracket at the end still isn't updated to show who has won the rounds that happened previously.
I think it is so people go watch them and doesn't just watch the latest episodes, though as the series does continue this argument is mute. I do get you point though
I think that's more into the case you just so happened to stubble upon one of the rounds as a first time viewer and are curious how the others went without any spoil in it so newer watchers can watch the others. At least that's my thinking
It's so people can watch the brackets in any order. If you watch this episode first, it doesn't spoil who won last time.
its because the editor is lazy
Obviously on purpose so if you just watch one episode you don't get spoiled for the previous one and want to see them to.
Please bring Brett Bayone for next season (but NOT instead of Jirard), he will kill it!
Holy hell that would be sooo dope! Make it happen guys!
yaaaaaaasssss
100% agree. Agree agree agree, please let's make this a reality. His vg debate skills are off the charts.
I'm in for Brett, he would bring a certain something that no one could.
I love how he can so easily break shit down and analyze it, and then immediately after laugh his ass off and have a good time. Great guy.
Can we all take a moment of silence for a Silent Hill game directed by Kojima that will never be made?.. 😔
AMEN
....Nah
@@Sivrn-Val Whaaa? P.T. was one of the best horror experiences in a long time..
It’s been a year and I still see her wickedly gleaming eyes following me down the darkened hallways at night. Damnit, Lisa..
Actually Konami will do a BEST Silent Hill game than what the OVERestimated Kojima san would have done ...(death g-string or something game.....)
SH1 has a "rough start"?? Holy shit, did that guy skip the legendary alley scene??
I could see SH2's slow start turning people off, but 1? Hell nah!
or maybe people have different opinions. i agree with jirard. the game is to slow. which its supposed to be. which i don't like
That guy lol
I'd rather climb a ladder for 20 min, than play the SH1 intro again.
I feel like he means after that, the game takes a slow pace intentionally, but it can drive some people away. The intro alley dream is great
At one point they're discussing how one of the biggest things MGS has over SH is the narrative, and everyone acted like MGS was objectively better, but I really must disagree.
All of the twists and turns in the MGS narrative are largely laid bare, and you can keep up provided you're paying enough attention SH had a story that still left you asking questions after the credits roll, and it's not because the plot wasn't there or it was in any way inferior, it's because GOOD STORYTELLING makes you reflect on what you just experienced, and fosters discussion and debate, and hopefully you've learned a little through it all. MGS is an amazing game and a good story, don't get me wrong, but it is NOT on the same level of storytelling that SH is. Kojima's written some good stuff, but his best stories were definitely the next two games.
And yes, I'm aware of my username.
Caddy seems to be getting better at debating, excitement jeeters aside. I just wish he nod instead of reaffirming by talking with yes's and such.
Either way, I cant say he's being as annoying as Alex was last season considering he actually played both games and no one else really seem to have played all of original silent hill.
LOSTLEAD8R what does that have to do with Alex?
@@TheGrizzlo503 people are going to compare him to Alex regardless of whether or not it's relevant (I think it is, since they're both pretty dominant in discussions)
@@TheGrizzlo503 they both seem to dominate discussions, and interrupts people. But in my view Caddy seems to be more excited rather than having a hard stance on something like Alex did during Madness season 2.
LOSTLEAD8R y’all Caddy was filming with them here in the states too and he probably doesn’t see his friends and Partnership acquaintances a lot so in the days of filming, he probably was super excited. I bet by the semi finals, he’ll be a chill guest.
Well, i have to add that, at the first half at least, most of that merit goes to Jirard as well. Jirard stayed focused and keep talking even when Caddy wanted to interrupt and give some different insight. That is something that did not happen in first episode and was good to do a more equitative debate
why does Caddy's listening face look so sad
have you seen the thumbnail in the end credits? he looks very sad
Because he can’t live comfortably without talking.
hes british
He has resting sad face lol
He was extremely jetlagged and tired (he said on twitter when someone pointed it out) at the time so it may be him trying to rack his brain for the points
I love when Shane just listens to the group talk endlessly about something and just throws out something completely blunt like "Metal Gear has better atmosphere then Silent Hill"
They're doing a better job of discussing the games individual strengths and flaws better rather than just resorting to bias. Also Appreciated Caddi's playing devil advocate.
I think caddy is making this show what it was meant to be tbh
Just once I'd like to see a Madness episode come out where the entire comment section isn't just constant complaining.
Pffft stay hopeful buddy
Nice, I love MGS so much (I'm sure profile pic didn't give it away). The Cyber Ninja/Gray Fox story and hand-to-hand boss fight is unparalleled, in my opinion. I remember feeling a bit spooked by the Cyber Ninja before his story is revealed the first time I played, especially going down that bloody hallway with the weird distorted noises in the background. Also funny they bring up David Lynch because in the codec conversation with Sniper Wolf before the second fight she actually uses a quote from the Lynch movie Blue Velvet, "I'm going to send you a love letter... do you know what that is? It's a bullet straight from my gun to your heart."
Peanutbuttergamer better be back next season for GameCube games!
Will Gamecube be the next season? Or just a later season?
@@SnipingIsFun I just know that they're currently voting on it on Twitter.
love all these caddicarus normies
"that bald guy" "that new guy" caddy's been up in NB's business since 2012 💀😂
I hate how everyone complains about him talking too much. PS is HIS domain!
Han,I think you forget that he isn't really seen as a HB member too much because he is in Britain and the others are in the US so people not knowing him is normal.
Though I'll give you the fact they have said and referred to him by name. But the salt of this series' comments are amazing. Haven't seen the comments this salty for years
@@5-Volt I think if you see him at rescent cons and non Caddicarus videos he is like this. I think people still see him as he was on the HB podcasts and SGC 2014; when he was very quiet and nervous.
It's the fact he doesn't really appear with the other Hidden Block and any of the Normal Boots people since maybe Hardcore season 4 in 2015.
Though if it is annoying Jirad and stuff, they should step in and shut him up more if it's a pain but at least he's trying?
@Farqua12 Of course! I don't 100% understand the salt against him but it's interesting to see as someone who watches him,so is used to him being like this off of his main show but it's something that happens over the years since he was last seen with the rest of Hidden Block and Normal Boots
hannah yeah he’s annoying lol
Hey guys, love all of madness. The energy, the laughs, and the rage makes this series perfect. One note for the editor though, can you not update the bracket between episodes to keep it clear who won what? Even watching all the episodes it can get confusing when you only show the winner after each episode and never update the bracket itself. Thanks for the great content again! Can't wait for the next episode.
I think that's because they don't want to spoil the winners in case someone is not watching it in order.
Caddy is the PS1 guy, I dont mind that were hearing from him the most. Let's not be be a toxic fanbase boiz, let's all love eachother
good job on these edits that show what they are explaining. very helpful.
Loving this squad and how they work together to actually discuss!
I don't know man. Most of these Madness episodes feel like people just come in with their already established biases and then it's just a question of which game/series has more fans at the table. The arguments for me really ring kind of hollow because most are just established as proven truths, instead of there being an actual discussion.
Agreed!!
It was refreshing having Caddy in, he at least tried to get people discussing instead of letting it go to a MGS circlejerk, I mean, he even voted MGS himself but wanted people to notice how awesome SH even is.
Do you guys want to bring back the “explain yourself” button?
It really helps the show 👍🏻
Also great work so fat this season, I’m really enjoying it 😊
That Caddicarus man brings a lot of energy in a positive way (sometimes a bit too much, but we all do that talking about our passions)
Caddy has actually positively surprised me in these first two episodes. I think he works better in a group than on his own. If he would calm down just a tad it would be perfect.
Ooo caddy with the lovely snake impression
I just love Jirard face and expressions when someone talk, its priceless.
Another awesome video and discussion gentlemen 😁 very engaging, engrossing, entertaining and fun to watch & listen to all of the different perspectives.
Reading through the comments, I kind of want a season that has Alex, Caddy, Jared, and a mutant clone made of all three of their genetic material. And they debate abortion, GMOs and whether or not McDonald's is good.
I'm so confused and horrified, yet excited.
*interrupts everyone intensely
"But does it capture the essence of the big mac"
I think the beginning of Silent Hill is better than the rest of the game. The rest isn't bad it's quite good but nothing matches that initial shock of the opening.
Kami Lee I disagree. The entire sequence of going from the sewers to the amusement park to literally hell and then fighting Satan was genius.
@@jaycap so it is basically the plot of doom
Jerard looks soooooo annoyed by caddi lol
*Jirard
*caddy
He most certainly does
*ProJared
Remember when Jirad was featured in Caddy's video with his Sister Professor Juice aka Rosie
I absolutely LOVE the Silent Hill series (especially the first 4 games) but honestly, I think that many people people don't like it because it's more of a slower-paced game. Even when you're fighting intense, powerful monsters and the game gets really tense, it's more about the atmosphere than just throwing a bunch of things at you at once.
15:10 "Uhn, Fog" Shit, I just love Shane, hahahaha
Also, Jirard just can't even with Caddi, hahahah
Wow, talk about a complete turnabout!
Don't know why people are complaining about Caddy here. He hasn't really interrupted this episode.
ModernHog almost everyone interrupts each other so
You should have a super one-episode season where you discuss every item in the topic at once.
Lol Shane flips of the camera right at the beginning
The Lisa scene in Silent Hill is a better cinematic scene than anything in Metal Gear, don't @ me
Cool story bro
These first couple match ups are super hard, RIP you guys
In 10:55 when the silent hill voice acting comes on I turned my phone all the way down and shut it off.
Great job again on the arguments guys. Keep it up!

He definitely was. You can tell Jirard isn't happy sitting next to Caddy and doesn't like how much he talks. But he could speak up more and take more command of the debate any time he wanted to; he's just too passive and that's his own fault. Caddy's a go-getter, if you want to keep up with him you need to step up your game.
Metal Gear Solid is the best PS1 game, hands down. Although Final Fantasy VII and Symphony of the Night come close....
Ben Wasserman
I mean, if I hear PS1 I think about MGS and FF7.
I'm European, the PS1 was the first console to really get mainstream in Europe. Before that Europe got barely touched by videogames mainly because we are a PAL region and many game companies didn't consider porting their games for us.
In comparison: SEGA sold about 8 million consoles with the Mega Drive, the PS1 sold 40 Million. Oh, and SNES sold about 8 million as well, but those include all other regions as well.
I feel like FF VII doesn't hold up but that's just me
Art Minus Me
No 3D game from that era holds up.
That's the sad, but simple, truth.
Clunky camera controls, bad 3D, bad voice acting, etc. it was the start of everything, but 25 years later, it is a very ugly start.
FFVII is one of the most iconic PS1 games along with MGS, but FFVII is no where near as good as FFIX, imo. I'm a bit worried how the next episode will go because I'm not sure how much of FFIX the guys have played. FFVII was amazing for the time, but it didn't age as well as IX to me. This is all just my opinion though, and I don't expect anyone to agree with me. All great games still.
Game Detective Actually Crash Bandicoot 2 and 3 hold up remarkably well. Both due to the cartoony graphics and on rails linearity of its platforming levels
Loved caddy's willingness to help out the underdog even if it wasnt his favorite. Also i think Jirard's arguments were all spot-on he had this on lockdown.
what is the background song on 7:00 called?
So...MGS won this round because as Caddy says towards the end, everyone already knows how amazing MGS is...yet most voted against Symphony of the Night in the first round?
Madness, indeed.
I like having caddy here and even I find it weird. He talks a lot and even over some people but I find that he brings in some needed "action" (for lack of a better word) to this. I mean this is supposed to be a discussion and 70% of the people here are the types that let people talk over them and are generally not very confrontational (at least that is what I got from the episodes I saw).
I like always agree with Jirard and his passion for games is truly something. I almost always agree with him and he explains perfectly why he loves each game.
i instantly stopped watching when jirard called silent hill boring lmao
Continue watching. Silent Hill gets plenty of love thanks to Caddicarus.
Caddy was great. Knowing him he was always gonna vote MGS, so he made sure Silent Hill got it's spotlight by arguing against his vote for the sake of debate.
I loved The Twin Snakes. I get some of the complaints people have with it, but that graphic overhaul alone is awesome. And I honestly didn't have a problem with the new voice acting. I also don't even care about the first person aiming or the overly dramatic cutscenes. I'm still hoping for an HD re-release of it someday.
I really hope FFIX does well in the next round. I'm really looking forward to that. Definitely the best game on the PS1, imo.
Easy. Silent Hill... but I like horror more than militaristic science fiction.
Hahaha caddy looks like he's always waiting for someone else to finish so he can talk
If you're familiar with his work, he's simply got a LOT to say about games. He's a fast-talker and he's verbose, so it's hard for him to just sit and listen lol.
It's starting to sound like Barry is just there to fill a seat.
He has said multiple times "I played this for the first time" or during the cartoon one "I've never watched this show before yesterday"
Is he filling a seat, or is he supposed to act as some sort of "every man" that doesn't know much, but still has an opinion?
That’s kinda of a good thing since he had the least biased opinion p
when i was a kid the hallway full of dead bodies before the ninja fight in mgs scared me so much i didnt want to continue the game, and silent hill gave me nightmares
Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid are two amazing games on the PlayStation. RE2, MGS and TR4 were the first games I played on PS1 so MGS stuck with me early on, but SH left me with a bigger impact. If you look at these two as franchises Metal Gear is bigger and did greater thing as Silent Hill derailed pretty quickly. It's hard to decide between the two, if a gun was held to my head which one to erase of the two I think I would let them pull the trigger on me. Okay, maybe SH is more dear to my heart.
I love this guy Caddicarus
Jirard comes right out trashing Silent Hill ProJared should be sitting in your seat
They we so caught off guard they clipped the audio
YEAH!! WE GOT CADDY ON THE SHOW!!
Need more Caddy and Jirard, pls :)
Snake is in Smash Bros which makes Metal Gear Solid the better game.
jmcgough394 inb4 Harry Mason is announced for smash
I have to say that the one point I would have brought up would be that silent hill is more of a physiological horror game over just a regular horror game like resident evil. And personally I love the that version of horror games over regular horror.
lol jirad looks annoyed at caddy and caddy looks like hes sad cause he noticed jirad was geting annoyed xD
>~< Somehow, I’m still trying to find that “Explain yourself!” sound bit. I want to use it with my friends.
Metal Gear Solid is a better game, but I love Silent Hill more.
Control Freak I honestly can’t choose between the two of them. They are both genius works of art and they excel at the different things they try to do.
this x1000
@@TheGabberman9000 Well a standard of what is a good or bad game can be separate from someones personal love of the game. Which means loving a game for reasons of nostalgia but also realizing that the game itself was heavily flawed. You can still love a piece of media even if it doesn't meet a certain standard.
@@TheGabberman9000 of course it does. MGS is technically better, it has fewer flaws. But i like SH more
I love how Caddy's aggressive with this discussion. You can tell he's passionate about this.
This is a matchup where it doesn't really matter to me who wins because honestly both games deserve it.
'Silent Hill' over 'Metal Gear Solid' anyday ;) I'd rather play a horror game instead of a stealth game :P
Thanks for defending Silent Hill Caddy. I know it had no chance against mgs, but I’m glad someone here was passionate about it because I knew it was gonna get tossed to the side
What’s the song that is playing in the background at 0:37?
Caddie is a great addition to this, I love his passion
I think the description is incorrect. This isn't an exhibition match
Just received my PAL Silent Hill and can't wait to try it. I never completed the game and still have my original memory card. So if all goes well I can resume where I left off after almost 20 years.
ooo boy next week we're getting into final fantasy ooo boy
I'm really curious about the next episode because it may just be the hardest battle of the bunch. Not because either of those games are the best PSX games ever (which they aren't) because they probably are the most even games. One's arguably the best JRPG on the system and the other one's arguably the best platformer.
I think the only other battle that may be tougher is "THPS2 VS CTR"
i find it rather funny that throughout madness i always end up agreeing with either jirard or shane.
also i love caddy's enthusiasm!
I mean, I knew Silent Hill wasn't gonna make it, but I'm glad it got the chance, shame it never got the RE2 Vs Silent Hill fight, that would be an interesting one.
this was honestly a tough one. Both of them are classics and one of them provides a great horror experience and the other provides a great stealth/story experience
Jirard made a really strong case for MGS. This feels like the most subjective match up that heavily relies on personal taste because the games are about equally successful at doing what they were aimed to do. This might have been the worst bracket haha
From the description..."In this episode it's two powerhouses of Capcom and Konami, Metal Gear Solid vs Silent Hill, but who will win?"
Interesting. I didn't know Capcom had anything to do with these two Konami games.
Also please fix your descriptions of all these PlayStation videos to remove the "PSX" abbreviation, it's not accurate. The PSX is a unique hybrid console Sony exclusively released in Japan. It's not the abbreviation for the PlayStation; that would simply be PS.
Really love listening to the caddicarus podcast
ok I gotta get this off my chest because i loved the N64 Madness debate. I don't jump in comments very often because youtube comments are extremely toxic.
Caddicarus is obnoxious and rude. He interrupts people constantly trying to talk, his opinions are poor and seriously stop talking over people!
I do not want to finish this series with him in it.
Swap him out for PBG, projared, or someone else.
Just my opinion even if some may think it's wrong.
I just can't enjoy this.
It was filmed in September so it's already completed
I sadly want to disagree with the outcome of this but to me this is an excellent matchup from a time where (as barry stated) Konami was something to be impressed about!
Honestly Jirard's first comment really stunned me, calling SH boring and comparing it to RE2. The type of survival horror genre legacy it left was way more psychological and slow paced, working with the graphical limitations at the time and being off-putting (even in a cheesy way) to evoke that feeling. Growing up with both series really showed me how different they are at their core despite being under the same label. Not the correct show for it, but instead of a debate i'd love to see a kind retrospect from people who fully played both series on their history and impact to their subsequent downfalls.
I think it says a lot that Kojima wanted to work on the SH series and bring it back to its roots.
Once again a little sad seeing this particular matchup so early and not getting both games a chance to be compared to others first (also that the table didnt have experience with the matchup) but i'm glad to see them both on here for best PS1 game. Public did me proud.
the whole thing about the guard mechanics only being used once isnt completely true. so yeah the water and snow foot prints onlt happen the once because your only in water or snow with guards once, but as barry said the environment changes with new challenges. like the weaponless room, but other areas are the wolfs before the sniper wolf fight, you can either kill them or use a special item to get past them easily, and also the catwalks around metal gear itself, if you run on the wrong parts it makes noise alerting guards a mile away. so there are other areas where you have to be on guard about the environment.
