This time, about the #Mercenaries #Kickstarter, and #HumbleBundle for #Battletech fiction.

good stuff, nice to see them offering the previous bundle in as well. also the $30 bundle is all of this year and previous year books. dropping to the 70 item, $18 dollar bundle, gets you all the new book, but not last year. Great if you bought last year, just do the 70 item for practically half cost!

@@xerenkeldar I just noticed that . I got the $35 dollar bundle and instead of 71 books. I found 130 books. the only place you find it list is the first block that has the 2023 bundle
700 us worth of books at a suggested rate of 35 us. I was wanting to get back into the book side of the universe and this is very tempting.
The giant humble bundle is a very interesting move, especially considering the prospective roadmap that came out with Adepticon being so focused on more Dark Age and Ilclan designs.
Good for those who couldn't make it to the Kickstarter, as they'll get the double-sized Shrapnel, and the ELH and Kell Hounds books too.
And the Top tier? Excellent for those who really, really want to dig deep into BT lore (and somehow don't have any BT books at all).
I'm definitely getting in on that bundle.
Beware of whom is benefiting from the selected humble bundle.

One important thing to be aware of - if you purchased the previous bundle (basically 60 of the first 63 BattleTech novels released last year) you don't need to go for the top tier as the only difference between the top tier and the next one down is the full content of the previous bundle and nothing else.
This is amazing! I still haven't finished all of the books from the last Humble Bundle. So much Battletech!

Between this and finding a complete box set of 2nd edition for cheap, i am living good.
Info: If you do not need the 2023 Legend Bundle, you can get all the Dark Age novels for just €16,64.
The supported Charity is American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which is fine in my book.
Another helpful tip for those who don't usually buy Humble Bundles: You can choose where your money goes. So if you don't like a particular charity, or want to give more or less to Catalyst/developers, before you check out, just click adjust donation and choose custom, then put the sliders wherever you want. You can literally give them your two cents if you feel like it.

But I think I am good on Battletech books for a few years worth of reading now.
My only complaint is that they only have 2 of the 4 books from the Marauder series, and are missing 3 of the books from the first 100+ book list. I think I have all 3 of those in paperback laying around here somewhere anyway. For only $30 I am not going to complain, you actually get something like 120ish books, since some of the titles are multiple books. Well worth the money.
Quick note, a few of the mobi files didn't work, when translating to PDF, but those same files in epub did so it's all good.
Wow! I don't even regret that I got the last novel bundle and will be duplicating them with this one. I still feel like I'm getting away with something!

I don't get why people freaked the hell out so much from, like you said, a blatant mistake where an extra zero or something was added here or weight was too heavy there. They'll be fixed quick I am sure.
CGL has a pretty poor history when it comes to fiscal responsibility.
@shanepatrick4534 That describes just about every game company out there, from TSR forwards in time. The sky is blue, the grass is green, and game designers tend not to have AP/AR, sales, or IT degrees.

Just out of curiosity, what years in the timeline a covered by this bundle?
Most of the new material is there tbh. It's massive.
Pretty much covers it all, except the very latest books. From the discovery of the Helm memory core onward. There is even some that go back to tell the beginnings of the Clans.
for someone who's only familiar with the PC games, the masterpiece animated series, and countless hours of Critical Rocket and Tex videos, is there any suggested order to the books? With 130 items, I'm definitely in on the bundle but where the hell does one even start?!
LibraryThing has a reading list in chronological order that covers the first 100 books, just do a google search for it.
You will be missing 3 books from the first 100, sadly including the very first title. But you can skip it without issue.
Is Fire At Will the novel with Roderick Steiner? Lol why is there an Atlas instead of his Rifleman IIC on the front cover I wonder?
There is a stalker on the cover of ideal war. Has zero stalkers in it. Guess why I picked up the book? Wanted to see stalkers in action.
Dumb question. Is this worth getting? I'm interested in more Clan Stuff, so is this worth getting?
If you wanna read novels, yes!
Clans got into the Dark Age early, with Steel Wolves and Spirit Cats getting into the world-grabbing game early on. Then Clan Wolf and Clan Jade Falcon jumped into it after the Cappies proved the Republic didn't have a leg to stand on. The downfall of the Republic put Alaric Ward in the position to claim the title of Ilkhan. And about every third mechwarrior piloted an omnimech regardless of faction!
Yes, there is even a set of books that cover the founding of the Clans, and pretty much everything after the invasion of the IS by the Clans.

Depends on what range of books your looking for.
@@BigRed40TECH I've never read a battle tech book before, I'm obstensibly interested in taurisns, but just like good literature especially coming off age stories, or epics like LOtR.

@@gerritvandenbosch4681 Main book in recent times, that's a Novella, is Blood Rage. I don't think that one is on the Humble Bundle list though. But I may be wrong.
Damn. I love the new IlClan stuff but wanted to go back to see how the siege of Terra worked. But even you scoff at hour of the wolf. Noone seems to like the book.
The other Ilclan novels are very much solid. lol

It'll come to retail a bit after the backers get their stuff. Same year, just don't know when. Couple weeks, or couple months, after the backers are fulfilled.

Looks like I am going to be dieting / brown bagging it for a few weeks, I spent the grocery money on the ebooks. LOL

Totally cool, you can find those on Amazon for Print on Demand, but that'll never be able to be apart of something like a Humble Bundle at this scale. :)

Sadly a lot of the hard copy are out of print. I think it's worth the $30 to have them all on my phone, so I can read while sitting in waiting rooms.
Are they real books or online only im old school and like the book in my hand.
The deal is for digital books. Real books are POD on Amazon, but will obviously cost more

After a month of seemingly weekly disasters it's nice to have some good news for once.
The shipping issue is the main one, which was more frustrating than dire, as it was clearly not correct lol
@@BigRed40TECH That was the largest one, but the fact it came at the end of a month of multiple PR disasters, well lets just hope this ends up being just a particularly bad case of the annual PR disaster Catalyst seems to go through each year without fail for whatever reason.

You don't have to. Click on "Adjust Donation" then select "Custom Amount" and you can reduce the money that would go to Catalyst to ZERO and give everything to the charity and/or Humble.
