- A game of few words and little sense. We’d like to tell you more, but the man wasn’t exactly chatty. Great at transitioning seamlessly from FMV to CGI, though.

They're coming out with a sequel called the Blind Man, it's a black screen and you have to navigate with sound effects. But if you beat it once you unlock Glaucoma Man, and you can see 40 percent of what's going on
Those assholes stole my idea! "Arthritis Man" was going to be the greatest game ever! It takes about 3 hours too, and your goal is to get out of bed.
You actually can play the Last of Us 2 with entirely no visuals using its accessibility settings.
@@occono3543 The accessibility settings in TLOU2 was a brilliant way to help people with sight or hearing problems enjoying the game. The Quiet Man seems to go out of its way to insult the hearing impaired.
There is a game called Blind Man
You complete it 100% you unlock The Macular Degeneration Man, where the centre of the screen is completely blacked out, with just the border visible
The way the story is told would make sense if Dane had literally JUST gone deaf, because then it would be simulating what it was like to hear nothing and not yet being able to read lips or interpret body language. But Dane has been deaf for some time, and doesn't seem to have particular trouble communicating, so it doesn't make sense to deprive the players of that information.
This was my thought, as well. I had the episode on while I was doing something else, so I assumed that WAS the case for the first five or so minutes. But once I started paying more attention and realized that, no, he's been deaf for ages, this went from "Huh, what an interesting idea" to "Oh god this is among the most offensive games I've ever seen." What a horrendous experience for Team Triple Jump, but what a wonderful experience for US getting to watch them suffer through it
Completing the game once gives you the full audio and subtitles.
But I think a later patch added the ability to get that from the start.
Either way, it's definitely an odd design choice to not have lip-reading appear in the subtitles.
Even if you did have the audio be fully mute.
This one is DEFINITELY Worst Games Ever material. A SGFW for sure.
I hope they get a copy of Joe's Diner. It has a PS4 physical copy, and it's absolutely abysmal. Perfect WGE material.
I'm sure it's supposed to be a cute scene, but with no context and no sound, your mom going crosseyed is actually pretty chilling.
Other games when you finished them:
- gives you extra contents
- unlocks new higher difficulty
- new game+
- etc
What this game gives you after you beat it:
- unmute button
This takes place in the distant future where the US has amassed more than 80 states, according to the flag on the subway
The Ashton Dorito bit killed me 😂
I was actually IN a Wales Interactive game- The Complex, so it's fun seeing you guys play a different one.
On point editing as always, Ashton popping out from behind that giant Dorito killed me 😝 also, Ashtons Lapland joke 🤣🤣
I had a PlayStatoin in the 90s. The ice-cream man used to sell them, along with Nintendo 65s
So going by the blood on the sheet still being bright red, a person was very recently shot, but there was enough time to drape a sheet over the body, and the guy we can infer to have *done* the shooting is… still standing in close proximity to the body waving a gun around… and somehow this guy becomes a kingpin… makes perfect sense to me.
Ah, okay, I guess it was her dress, but still…
😂😂
According to this game, if you're deaf or hearing impaired you're completely unable to interpret the world around you. That's just offensive to a large group of people. The kicker of course is that if you do a second playthrough WITH sound the story actually gets worse. I still suspect they removed the sound to disguise how utterly dreadful the actual story is.
The WEIRDEST thing about this game is: even when it FIRST came out, there was no groundswell of misguided support for it.
THAT'S how much of a categorical failure it was for Square/Enix: even tribalist pricks didn't want to pretend it was a win for "their side."
The sad thing is there were ways they could have done this concept really well. They were just focused on the wrong things.
Lip reading could have been implemented as a game mechanic. That could (if executed well) have been brilliant.
This is supposed to be about showing people who aren't deaf what it's like to be deaf. But because of how it's put together the only people who can understand the game is people who are already deaf, because not many people outside of those who are deaf know both american sign and lip reading, which is required to understand the game.
This is made for nobody, the non deaf will hate not knowing whats going on and the deaf will either hate how patronizing it is or just not like how the subtitles (something a lot easier to use than some random sign every so often) are still turned off most of the time anyway. This doesn't teach you how deafness really is, it teaches you that deaf people can't understand anything going on unless it's explicitly written out for them, something completely untrue. I seriously doubt any person with any hearing troubles was involved with this game. It feels like a non deaf persons idea of being deaf and even then thats not done very well.
Exactly 😅
I remember this, oh god. I get that the main character is deaf, but the game itself should have still had audio.
HE CAN READ LIPS, you understand less than the main character does lol
@@ItsMeBarnaby that's got to be wild working on the voice work and sound effects for that game, knowing that 90 precent of people will never play the game twice lol
It does... you play as him first, constructing the story based on what he can hear. Then, it puts the sound back and you realise the context is very different. It's a pretty good game as long as you play it as intended
@@Turniplord he can read lips though, so he knew what was going on the whole time, you're the only one in the dark
Is he in bed with his mam when he game overs?? 😂
Apparently, you unlock the audio once you finish the game once. I'm not sure as only gotten halfway into a game having bought it for super cheap on PC. They could have done some creative captions or something at least.
6:39 Ashton might appreciate this Eurovision reference but he's got the look of Jurij Veklenko (Lithuania 2019) Victor Crone (Estonia 2019) and Frans (Sweden 2016) all at once.
Rerez said ITS JUST BAD! 😂 Confused them as well
You remember too 😊
Doesn't that Supervoid arcade cabinet now appear in the arcade in RoboCop: Rogue City? Are both these games made by the same company? 🤔
I've got an uncle who works at Snoy Petertainment.
The editing of this video, and the dialogue, were delights! This game, on the other hand, looks atrocious…
Wait no more main menu? That's easily the best triple jump series and the highlight of the month. You've got to bring it back even if it's delayed a few weeks after patron
They've explained repeatedly: it doesn't do enough on RUclips, so they need it to drive traffic to their Patreon.
@@Alucard-A-La-Carte So paywalling content. Got it.
@@OrgaNik_MusicIt's not paywalling if it doesn't exist otherwise. They aren't free to make, so if they can't make money on RUclips, then their choice is charge for it or not do it anymore.
New episode has been released for patreons
This has genuinely upset me, Rules Boss is my favourite series they do
Mom's dead, parkour!
Imagine if only video games could provide the reverse experience for the deaf. Now that would be art
Wait, wait, wait, wait. Rules Boss and Main Menu are EXCLUSIVE to Patreon? Or are they still being uploaded here after a certain period of time?
They’re exclusive to Patreon.
Best Editor!!!
I am still baffled to this day over Human Head being behind this head scratcher. They ruled once. Rune abd the original Prey are both nearly perfect games, imo.
Putting The Quiet Man on my dads tv is the best way to get him to sleep. Oh wait maybe that’s a different property…
Editing is immaculate on this one 😂
The actor who played "The Quiet Man"......
"I'm gonna be the next DiCaprio! The new James Dean! Dane DeHaan and Robert Pattinson ain't got nothing on me"...
Then accepts job portraying The Quiet Man...
Dreams disintegrate before his eyes, cue tears, sadness, and hopelessness
Man, this game seems depressing! It's like living in a world where you're excluded from everything and the people in it attack you constantly. That's dark.
That lapland joke was genius
it was a very good joke
I had to do a double take after their Playstation confusion, because right afterwards the screen says Snoy Petertainment... And they didn't pick up on that, at least not yet
As someone called Dane IRL I approve of this game 👍
If I was named Dane I would be insulted by this game :)
I remember being semi interested in this when they first showed it off, thinking it would be a deaf version of Daredevil or something. What a waste of potential with how crap it turned out to be lol
So, they admit that Ashton is smaller than TINY PETER.
A rebranding is needed.
I’ve had this game for a few years and still have never really played it 💀😬
The editing on this video is sublime
Please stop dangling main menu in our non patron faces. We get you took it away to keep the content alive and I truly appreciate that. One day I’ll be able to afford the tier, but until then please stop teasing us. Some people can’t afford to join and you give us a five minute ad break for patreon every single video about it since you took it away.
Last random sad comment. It’s sad rules boss gets to make surprise appearances in random videos but main menu nods aren’t included.
Keep up the good work.
Not what I had in mind when you said let's play that Deaf Jam game. 🤦♂️
Bring me to (dead) mummy. Fetch me the cream.
Ha ha this episode was amazing! Love you lads and lass!
How is this NOT on WGE? This is one of the worst games ever made! I'm also pretty sure this game was on the 101 WGEM list too lol
"And one was about a hot dog" I dunno why but that line really cracked me up
rated M for mumble
Monthly request for you to cover nutso cockroach-centric game Bad Mojo (and it's suprisingly good btw).
Man of action created Ben 10 and a bunch of other cartoon Network series.
No one noticed the thugs race swap from fmv to game
He looks like Leonardo DiCaprio from the 90th end. Or Leon F Kennedy.
Ah, more 30 minutes of agony to my life
Editor heard change lives on this one
No John Wayne ?
The scary part is Square helped make it 😅
Please block @SaintDomingo1 for being sexist and overall rude
It still confuses me that they wouldn’t have subtitles from the beginning. As others have suggested if the character recently became deaf and wasn’t able to lip read yet, subtitles would help the player and give context to what the story is 😅 but um yeah there’s definitely a better way of doing this without insulting everyone and being utterly clueless about the story 🤷♀️
Rerez did a fantastic in depth episode of this game in their "It's just bad" series, if you enjoyed this video, you should check it out
Ah yes the one about the meant to be deaf guy which doesn’t get subtitles on the first go 😅
Hey, I know you from Allison Pregler/Phelan Porteous' comment sections!😁
@@Alucard-A-La-Carteoh hey👋🙂
This is the best! Now I don't have to play this terrible game. Thanks guys. 😂
Al Gore rhythm
looks like Dane from the garbage show supernatural
The Worst Weirdest Game.
For weird, read Shite, with a odd looking Leonardo DiCaprio lookalike
I always expect Billy-Ray to answer with something irrelevant and offensive and he never does.
Like...I mean...He definitely LOOKS like a holocaust denier, right?
My name is actually Dane, not a very common name I think you will agree, so to hear you all say it like 60 times between you in this video is kinda jarring for me lol
I enjoyed this game more than the last guardian
The concept COULD have been cool I guess, little sound to show the protagonist is deaf, but in execution they failed. I'm sure someone more creative could have done the idea better. Cool nugget of an idea to build on with some work if one got creative and all that and built up other things around the no (little) sound to compensate. But ya the execution here as I said sucked.
43 seconds ago.... I need to come up with a really good comment.
This may be the newest game you guys have ever done. This one is only 5 years old. I'm used to you guys doing games from decades ago but this one was weird of the gate. I appreciate the experiment but it wasn't a good game. It had a good story but it's actual mechanics were bland and generic. Would have been cool if they actually made you use some puzzle elements but it's just a bunch of push X to punch for a few hours.
It's a shame this game sucked so hard, the premise of a deaf protagonist is interesting. Perhaps an adventure game or other genre would have been a better fit in terms of gameplay/fun factor. Senua's Sacrifice devs should have a go.
Man of Action shouldn’t have been anywhere near this game.
Well, gotta say I find the scores this game got from the reviews pretty high (even tho it was 28%), considering how bad this was.
No redeeming factors on this one: Barely functional, poorly written and executed, technically outdated regarding graphics (and sfx lol), flawed concept to the point it gets downright offensive... This deserves to be amongst the top 10 worst featured on both WGE shows.
Welcome💙 ❤❤❤❤❤
Oooo boy getting thik
I said this before on the stream where you snuck that announcement in, but I remember when you said you’d never paywall content behind Patreon. Clearly you lot don’t.
Now you’ve taken away two of the only three reasons I was still subbed to you and put them behind a paywall so you’ve officially lost a subscriber and I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m not the only one. This half-arsed version of Worst Games Ever, which is itself a half-arsed version of what it used to be in the early days of Vidiots (when you still had integrity and didn’t money-grab every five seconds) is not enough to keep me around. I really hope the extra few pounds you get from Patreon is worth it.
I get that it sucks to see these series go, I love them too, but remember that this is their job and they are allowed (in fact required) to make money from it. It's OK to be disappointed but you don't have to be a dick
@@stephspoilsstuff They don’t have to paywall their content and lose subs because of it. 🤷♀️
Yes, they have to make money, but this is not the way. I said at the time they hired Ashton that I was confused as to how their view count (and therefore income) would support paying the salary of a third person. Turns out they just planned to money-grab rather than, you know, work harder to get more views and sponsorships for their videos.
Did you know there’s one fan who’s gifted nearly 1000 subs to their Twitch? Which means that person has spent nearly $5000 just on gift subs for them? It seems like they’d much rather take money from their loyal fans (through Twitch and Patreon) than actually try to get money from RUclips.
It’s not for me. If you’re willing to put up with it then good for you! I’m genuinely happy for you. But I can’t stand people who’d rather grub money off their fans than anything else.
...so how should they make money? If certain series don't perform well on RUclips and don't justify the cost, time and effort to make it, they are well within their rights to move them elsewhere.
Re the Twitch thing, that is a person choosing to spend money gifting subs. They are not forcing them to do that and that is not "taking" their money. You aren't their manager, not are you in charge of how they spend it. It was their choice to hire Ashton to join their team, which also includes several paid editors (which doesn't seem to bother you). It takes some of the load off of Ben and Peter as the sole creators. Also, Ashton is great 👍
If it annoys you enough to unsubscribe, fine, but know that they don't actually owe you anything
@@stephspoilsstuff No point arguing about it - clearly we need to agree to disagree. I have no quarrel with you. I agree that Ashton is great, as are their editors and writers; I just think it’s a shame to do what they’re doing when there are other ways and they said they never would. 🤷♀️🙂
👽
Not gonna watch, but I bet they constantly moan about the lack of sound - making the same mistake all the reviewers did at launch...
You NEED to play it twice. The first time you can't hear things, so you construct the story and context based on what you're seeing. Then, the second time it puts all the voices back into the game, giving you the actual story so you can see just how wrong you were as the context changes drastically.
The game is very good, bar the combat, but people don't give it a chance because they play the muted part for an hour and give up.
what a load of crap
A game that only becomes decent in NG+ doesn't in fact, sound very good. At least not in terms of game design.
God Ashton is so gorgeous.
You guys are cool, but dont be ignorant if you buy a game without reading the coverbox or researching it first, then its on you. How you calling a game stupid when you dont use your own brain. Because if you still buy the game after researching and read you play a deaf guy I don't know what to tell you...
